Live from Tukwila, Washington (just south of Seattle for those wondering), Chael sends his “Daily” submission to Everyday Carry.

Chael the manager guy doesn’t give a lot of details in his post.  Not many at all.  Glock 43.  Obviously he has a HYVE mag extension.  It looks like a +0 extension, but maybe it’s a +2 (rounds).  I like the Ka-Bar TDI weapon retention blade.  I flirted with one of those until I found a (then) P3AT proves far more versatile.

That looks like a Spyerco blade (or maybe a China knock-off).

The only thing really missing is some sort of light.

  1. It’s a spyderco. They make them with those pocket clips as well. Yes, some are knock-offs, but without seeing the blade we won’t know. My guess is, it’s not a knock-off.

I also have a TDI like that, but rarely carry it. The included holster always came off the belt when trying to draw the knife. Get a kydex option with a better belt loop.

And a white watch…. never understood the white watches.

    • “…never understood the white watches.”

They seem to be popular with medical professionals around here, like nurses…

  2. I never understood buying a subcompact pistol and loading it with an extended magazine. Making a subcompact larger.

    • In general I agree….

I do think some folks want the short snout for carry comfort but have to deal with a shorter grips as well.

Now he could get a 43x with a full grip and short snout, but may have bought his 43 before the 43x was available.

      I am considering swapping my 43 for a 43X right now……or maybe a P365….lol

      • Strych9, I hear what you’re saying, but the grip is the hardest thing to hide. Not the barrel/slide. Of course, I started carrying a Colt Series 70 Government Model concealed in 1983. No problem. That was long before Florida had CCW. Fuck the government.

    • true, the long snout of a hipower is just trying to poke out of the jeans.
but a p938 barely has enough purchase to grab if deep concealed/ heavily canted. the plus one makes a huge diff. and i have no issues iwb’ing a cz compact.

    • I agree. I got a plus one for my glock 43 just because I like the metal base that I had on my other Glocks, and one round is nice. Plus it didn’t add any extra length. But if you don’t have trouble concealing that way, like say in the aiwb, then an extended mag never hurt.

      Since the p365 though… That’s a game changer.

      • I really like the sig 365 just not enough to trade in my G43. Actually have thinking of an LCP2. I daily carry but the skeletool and flashlight get far more use then the gun

  3. That looks like the Hyve +1. I’d highly recommend people check out the +2 mag extension kit from Magguts. it’s the same size or smaller than most 1 shot extensions currently available but gives you 2 rounds. only adds 1/4in to the grip and is still 1/2 shorter than the g48/43x. good middle ground between the g43 and g48 i think.

  4. Gadsden beat me to it,
I was gonna ask why almost every single review or post I’ve seen of the 43 has the mag extension on it?
If I were to purchase another Glock I’d go with the 48, great size and fits my hand well.

    • while it’s true that an extended mag is longer, the stock mags don’t hold enough. so why do they buy them? not sure. but two additional rounds with a penalty of less than 1/4″ in length is a compromise i would make.
if the standard mag is enough to grab onto then the guys with the extended spare are probably doing it right.

      • As much as I’ve tried, i don’t shoot as well without using my pinky finger. Cost being a factor, for my Shield 9mm, to add to a 8 and 7 rd mags it cost me $38 for +1 Magguts and a +2 SI extension, respectively.

  5. The funny thing is if he is carrying the knife concealed that’s illegal here in Washington lol. And that stock sheath is absolute trash, I bent the clip on it so many times I quit using it.

  6. I was under the impression that carrying a fixed blade knife in Washington state was illegal? Especially when you conceal it.

    Am I wrong?
