Responding to Baltimore Mayor Bernard “Jack” Young’s argument that he isn’t responsible for the city’s rising homicide rate because he’s “not committing the murders,” the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms today fired right back, “Law-abiding gun owners aren’t committing murders, either.”
“Yet Mayor Young and his fellow Democrats continue pushing extremist gun control laws, which only penalize honest firearms owners,” said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “Universal background checks, which Young supported from the moment he joined ‘Mayors Against Illegal Guns’ two months ago, don’t prevent criminals from getting guns, and he should know that.
“Young’s hypocrisy and buck-passing shouldn’t surprise anybody,” Gottlieb continued. “He has quickly joined the ranks of liberal public officials playing the blame game; officials who refuse to take responsibility for the mayhem happening on their watch.”
Young became Baltimore’s mayor when Catherine Pugh stepped down earlier this year. Before that, he served on the city council for more than 20 years, eventually rising to the office of Council president. He told reporters Wednesday that the city’s leadership is not to blame for Baltimore’s rising murder rate. The Baltimore Sun reported the city has logged 296 murders so far this year.
“Jack Young has been a city official for more than two decades,” Gottlieb observed, “so you bet he’s part of the problem. Maryland has some of the most restrictive gun laws in the nation, and in Baltimore it is virtually impossible for average citizens to get carry permits for personal and family protection.
“An honorable Democrat named Harry Truman had a sign on his desk,” Gottlieb recalled. “That sign said ‘The Buck Stops Here.’ So, Mayor Young, this rising violent crime is on you, not on honest gun owners in Maryland or anywhere else. So stop trying to pass the buck to private citizens who only want to exercise their constitutionally-protected rights, without having to jump through a bunch of hoops or get past all of the legislative roadbloacks you and your fellow Democrats want to put in their way.

The Dems have run this city into the ground for decades and generations just like they have all the other major cities. Until the black population will look around and see they aren’t being properly served by their Dem politicians, this will continue. When you have a black majority population re-electing Dems with about 90% of their votes, nothing will change. I have hopes that the current president has shown those paying attention that there is another way to get things done. Gosh my son who works at DoD lives near Baltimore and tells me it’s not that bad…with a murder rate far higher than Chiraq. Chiraq blames other states(especially Indiana)for their “loose” fun er gun law’s. Never the punks shooting up the place.
Baltimore, like most cities, has some parts that are largely safe. You can visit the inner harbor and many other parts without having to worry more than you would anywhere else. But then you cross into other areas and things change pretty quickly in a span of a couple blocks.
I’ve been to the Inner Harbor many times before. It was a great place for the family. Now sadly people are attacked. Robbed. And the police do nothing. “Ferguson is in full effect” in the Baltimore police department. They are on their way to becoming the next Detroit.
The mental illness of Liberalism won’t allow any Baltimore politician to use logic and common sense.

That’s a bit of a stretch.
To be fair (puts on flame suit), Truman, for a Democrat, was actually pretty good. He wasn’t like FDR and if I remember correctly they didn’t exactly get along. FDR chose him as VP to appease his opposition. Truman was far more anti communist then any president since and was hyper confrontational towards the communist nations. Where FDR was almost pro Soviet Union, Truman was vehemently anti Soviet Union and made containment of communism his administrations number one goal. “Truman doctrine”, or domino theory, was 100% right in my opinion. We’re witnessing it take place within the States right now, as more and more states fall to communism and then export it, just like an infection. In my opinion he was the last sane democrat.
He gets an “F” for not only getting into the Korean War but also interfering with how the war was conducted. He set the precedent for Johnson to follow in Vietnam.

I don’t disagree. But my main point was Truman was a very different president and man altogether. Thinking about it, I don’t know of a Vice President that was more different then the president then Truman was to FDR.

He’s not responsible for the roads because he’s not in the streets with a shovel. He’s not responsible for the schools because he’s not holding the chalk. A bucket of eels is less slimey. It’s really hard to imagine the depravity of the residents who vote for such politicians.
I used to make frequent trips to Baltimore. Philadelphia and Camden, also. In some areas, trees growing through houses and office buildings; seriously damaged people bewildered, poor, underfed, dirty, yelling on the sidewalk; the pain in the street is palpable. It floods inside of you and you feel your heart rending. It is haunting and brings tears and prayers.
How can these city officials promote and prolong this agony, focusing instead on issues that do not help their communities at all? It is beyond incompetence. It is evil.
I’ve mentioned this before (I think), but if you want to get a sense of how effed up Baltimore is, it’s well worth checking out an HBO series from the early 2000’s called The Wire.
The show is fictional, but based on the real life experiences of a police reporter (David Simon) and a homicide detective from the Baltimore P.D. (Ed Burns). A lot of the characters are also based on real life criminal figures. Great stuff.

I feel you there man and suggest you did what I did and for the exact reasons you listed. I got rid of both cable and satalite and went to straight air for the few times I want a live tv channel, and then just stream everything else through Netflix, Hulu and amazon. The best thing about streaming is you can come and go as you please and rotate through companies for the best deal. It’s a very open and competitive market unlike traditional suppliers. It’s truly a great example of of true capitalism being a real benefit to the consumer through market competition.

Austrailia’s homicide rate was not reduced by 63% in one year after that gun ban was enacted.
That is because it would actually solve the problem.
How many of the homicides committed in Baltimore are solved with the perpetrator arrested, prosecuted and convicted?
Given Chicago as an example, I would speculate that less than ten percent of Baltimore’s murderer’s ever do time for the crime.
