Universal background checks is gun control speak for gun registration. The NRA waffles on the subject—as you’d expect. They have a hard time arguing against an extension of the current FBI background check system because they supported its creation. “We need to fix the current system first” may be a politically palatable prevarication, but it masks the truth: the current background check system is the proverbial camel’s nose under the tent for federal firearms registration. (Which already exists through the ATF’s log book requirement). In fact, “below the radar” private gun sales are how ALL gun sales should be. Below the government radar. Because if they’re not, Canada. And worse. ‘Nuff said?

  1. I don’t think we are losing the war. We are getting bloodied up a bit & thats to be expected. We have a lot going for us & need to stay positive. This Saturday I go to the courthouse & peacefully protest, I feel like a hippy, Randy

  2. Meh, it’s not bad. But I kind of expected something more significant from the leading guns rights org. Something that could go viral on youtube. Something with more emotion. Some kind of father/son/daughter moment passing down grandpa’s rifle.

Maybe old Wayne-O could squat a loaf onto a picture of Obama and Feinstien? I’d forward that on.

Really I don’t know how you get the message to the sheep. Maybe show a guy with a gun in one hand and a shiny ball in the other? Man shakes ball, sheep forget about guns?

  3. Christe as master of disaster? Is that cover a joke? All he did is beg for taxpayers from other states to bail out people affected by a storm in NJ, and kissed Obama’s ass while doing it. How’s that fair? I think Christie IS the disaster. And now he’ll push for more gun control, because that’s what NJ politicians do.

  5. Yes, while the AR15 is restricted in Canada and limited to range-only use, we don’t have to go through the NFA and $200 tax stamp hassles for anything under a 16″ barrel. In addition, we have quite a few black rifles that are non-restricted which makes them eligible for hunting, shooting or transporting anywhere: Tavor, FS2000, XCR-L, ACR, PS90, Swiss Arms just to name a few.

Make no mistake: Any firearms registration leads to reclassification and confiscation. It’s not a question of “if”, but “when”.

  6. Connecticut: “Every citizen has a right to bear arms in defense of himself and the state.”
Anyone care to hazard a guess as to the purpose and intent of this particular LAW?

That is, beyond that of a LAW, written into a legally binding Contract / Compact called a ‘Constitution’ as a declaration of a specific ‘Right’ of the Citizens?
That is, beyond a written statement in recognition of a particular ’Right’ of all Freemen predating and preexisting every form of ’government’ ever established in America?
That is, beyond that of a LAW written as a further restriction on those few and limited ‘powers’ granted by the Citizens to persons within and acting on behalf of ‘government’ — and in order to prevent misconstruction and abuse of said few and limited ‘powers’?
That is, beyond the ’Right’ of the Citizens whom those within and acting on behalf of government are Morally, Ethically, Legally by Contract and Personally bound under oath to Secure for the Citizens?

While a ‘constitution’ was once in essence the ‘will’ of the people…in this current ‘new-age’ interpretation by the Illiberal, Digressive Statists, their attendant functionaries, familiars and dutiful armed minions — the ideas, ideals, principles, standards and values as set forth in written documents under those archaic notions of a Constitutional Republic form of government have all but entirely been relegated in more than a few regions in these once-United States to little more than mere sentiments expressed on worthless pieces of paper by ill-informed and now long-dead white guys.

There is of course, at least a passing curiosity as to whether or not it ever occurred to Officer Friendly that… upon ’noticing’ the presence of one more round in the magazine than currently ‘allowed’ under the ‘new law’, there was the option available to have simply thumbed the ‘illegal’ round out; handed it to the otherwise law-abiding Citizen; explained the ’new law’; and sent him on his way.
    Guess not.
