ammunition range practice lead california ban

As a reminder to anyone hunting in California this year, the state’s full lead ammunition ban will take effect July 1. California’s lead ammo ban, which was officially signed as a new law in 2013, required the California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) to gradually build up to a full prohibition.

As of July 1, the ban will be in full effect state-wide.

The ban prohibits the use of lead projectiles and applies to all hunting (including public and private land), all wildlife (game birds, non-game birds and mammals) and all firearms (rifles, shotguns, pistols and muzzleloaders) “in any gauge or caliber for the take of any legal species,” according to the CDFW.

The use of lead ammunition will still be allowed for target shooting, as long as the ammo is being shot in an area where lead is not otherwise restricted. The ban also won’t require non-lead ammunition for pellet guns or personal protection guns.

However, even those who are hunting for depredation purposes to dispatch wildlife destroying property or livestock will need to use lead-free ammo.

While the ban was born originated from research into poisoning of the endangered California condor, a full lead-free switch can and will be costly for the average hunter.

The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) took a look at the possible effects of requiring anyone who hunts in California to make the lead-free switch, and determined it would mean substantially higher costs. Centerfire ammo would jump 284%, rimfire would increase 294%, and lead-free shotgun ammo could see a 387% spike.

Altogether, the ban and attendant costs could be enough to reduce hunting by 36%, the NSSF concluded.

At least 30 states restrict lead bullets and shot in certain state wildlife areas and ecological reserves, but California will be the first to ban lead statewide. The US Fish and Wildlife Service banned lead shot for waterfowl hunting over a quarter century ago.

The first hunting seasons in California to be affected will be the general rabbit season, which opens statewide July 1, and the A Zone general deer season, which opens Aug. 10 along much of the coast.

  1. Couldn’t care less. Will Never set foot in any of the left coast states. Even though many years ago I did enjoy trips to Oregon. The whole region has gone to Hell under Liberal control. If the Firearms owners aren’t willing to fight against the tyranny being thrust upon them. Why should I care. If they some day decide to do what needs to be done. I’d be more than willing to offer my services. Until then MEH.

    • Don’t think for a moment we aren’t. There are more 2A supporting gun owners here in CA than the entire populations of most of the other states. We rally, we volunteer, we donate, we file lawsuits…but Sacramento is stacked against us, as well as most of the state courts. For the first time in history, every single state level office is now occupied by a Democrat, the Governor is a rabid Democrat, the Legislature has a Democrat supermajority, and most current judges are Dem appointees. We have a very steep hill to climb against.

What hurts most is that most gun owners outside CA simply write us all off as the same batch of dingbats, as if everyone here is the same. Nothing is further from the truth. As a result, we’re often fighting hard for the 2A behind enemy lines while our supposed brethren call us names and laugh.

Those people who live in “Free America” enjoy their gun rights, and I genuinely envy them. But I guarantee that we in CA are fighting harder every day for the 2A than they are, because they don’t see the danger in their faces as we do.

      • Absolutely agree with you after having lived there for 30 years. Finally fled to AZ but the “cancer” is spreading. We can see it here now. Nobody is immune and we should all stick together.

        • More often I meet folks who’ve moved here to AZ from the Midwest, like me. All have the same passion for living here. Lower cost of living, gun rights are recognized, and none will vote for commie BS I can tell you that.

        • If you’re new to Arizona you want to join the AZCDL Arizona civil defense league they need you and education everyone on legislation going anti gun and legislature to rally behind an or contact. Big city are always full of freeloader liberals north is best for home retirement and is more conservatives. FYI. The communist OB government closed all the lead mines and hurt battery products more than ammunition. But I think development of new and more efficient ammunition will prevail in the end.

      • I Haz A Question, thanks, you nailed it. We, CA and the NE coast, are fighting for our 2A rights. The Gun Control Movement is in social and news media and the gun grabbers are leveraging it better than we can. If gun rights goes futher to 5h!t on the Left and East coast, what do folks in free states think will happen next, how are you going to hold the line? People of the Gun, United We Stand…

        • Those living in states other than CA, NY et al should keep in mind that the changes did not happen overnight. It is too late when the fox gets into the hen house!

      • ‘I haz a question’, good points you make, but you know, make sure you’re there to fight for them so they can continue to purchase suppressors even though you got no support from them for…..anything.

      • I don’t doubt y’all are fighting hard, but it looks like you’re loosing. Just something to consider. Might want to change your strategy/tactics.

        • Massive voter fraud is the reason, millions of illegal aliens vote and many democrats are registered in multiple communities. They also “steal” registrations from the voter rolls by hijacking registrations from folks who don’t vote very often and use un-verified mail-in ballots. The party in control “investigates” such abuses and, of course, declares the abuses to be non–existent. It’s already started in Texas and Florida, too

      • Where, I wonder, are all these pro gun, pro gun rights people come Election Day? By the way, way back in the late 1960’s, I lived in The Bay Area for a couple of years. Back then, I competed in regular rifle matches held at Chabot Park, in the hills above Oakland, at Fort Barry, I think since turned into a “people’s Park” as I recall, perhaps it was the range at Chabot Park, and on the Marine Corps base at Vallejo The above being merely a short listing of facilities then available in The Bay Area. There were also a bunch of smaller ranges at various gun clubs in the area. By the way, back then as is likely today, a majority of people in California were from somewhere else, as I was.

        • Candidate John Cox garnered an unexpectedly high 40% of the votes for Governor in last year’s election. It’s widely known here that he would have done even better (perhaps even won?) if more people knew about him. Newsom outspent him 10-to-1, to where nearly all the ads and commercials had Newsom’s face instead of Cox’s. Add to that a very biased media who practically tripped over themselves for the chance to interview camera-hungry Newsom, and not Cox, and you can see that it was a tough fight.

        • A measure to explore exactly that gained enough signatures and qualified to be on the Nov 2018 ballot. But the Dems somehow convinced a judge that it wasn’t “constitutional” to have a public referendum on a state split, so it was ordered removed. We never got the chance to vote on it.

      • Regrettably, the high density population centers control CA. All IS lost in CA, even as those shit cities and supporting Left base must live in the social and humanitarian and social decline they created. It will only get worse.

Unless there is some major federal mandated upheaval overturing CA Law, there will be no change. Its been that way for decades. Election results hammer you while minor Court victories are few and far between. You set your own priorities. You personal gun rights are not your priority or you would have left CA. Yes, I abandoned CA, its a waste of time and resources to fight the politics, Courts and popular opinion. I applaud your Alamo stance because I wish things would get better and give you hope but reinforcements are not coming in your direction. CA will ultimately decay to the point where it canibalizes itself. Only then will the direction change. Please encourage all those retiring Leftests to stay in the CA they created and stop spreading their cancerous politics towards the east, WA and OR already reflect their contamination.

        • @SAFEupstateFML

I fled to Pennsylvania from California. Now, I’m eying Harrisburg with some trepidation, and wondering where to run next.

        • Phil; I fled to PA from NY. And while I’m enjoying my rights, I’m not proud of it. Stop running. There’s only 50 states, eventually we’re going to run out of places to retreat to.

        • Phil I am the weirdo that moved from PA to NY and unless the illegals suddenly get a vote you should have the better part of a generation before demographic shifts destroy rights. Honestly it will be more a court and slow legislative grind than what you saw with CA and the resistance should be a lot noiser for PA

    • You should care, because domino theory is real, and happening right now. We should’ve been more aggressive with it in the Cold War. Anytime a state falls the commies the surrounding states start to be infiltrated with more and more communist forces until they capitulate too.

      • Nail on the head, liberal retirees are NY’s biggest export after news nobody watches. Only kinda kidding.

        • There’s only two good things about lefties that retire to the South: they are too old to breed, and the heat kills them off fairly fast.

    • Same way I feel about it. Although I don’t see ammo costs keeping anyone from hunting. If your going for large game how many boxes of ammo a year are you going to use? Ranchers on private land taking care of predators will pretty much use what they have on hand, I know I would.

    • But in the same vein you (and all the others with this same thought process) probably expect those same people to give two poops about your ability to own a suppressor?

Hypocrisy is a hell of a thing. Just sayin…….

    • Ah yes, the Tyrannical B.S. Bla Bla Bla again. Bean hearing this shit for the last forty years. Hasn’t happen yet. Highly unlikely that the governments’ agenda is to reduce America to the likes of Afghanistan, Libya, Venezuela or any other butt f*** country.
This would take their own personnel power away. Why would the arguably most powerful man in the WORLD reduce himself to the status of Gaddafi or Maduro?

      • In their own little playground little tyrants like Gaddafi are way more powerful and under much less public scrutiny then any US public servant, including the POTUS.

        • Worth considering the mentioned countries were relatively developed prior to the various tyrants taking over and they largely became shitholes due to mismanagement, corruption, and incompetence. Argentina is an interesting and less extreme example especially post 80s

    • I used to say the same thing about California. I now live in a state that has been overrun by California “sensibilities”.

Imo we should all be concerned about each and every state. I doubt there are many left where the liberal population centers aren’t close to tipping the balance with the traditionally more freedom loving ruralites. It takes but one heavily populated county to determine the whole states fate. And when that balance tips, the speed at which things go downhill for freedom is blinding.

Ask WA and OR. It’s not that the residents there didnt do enough. It’s that more people no longer believe in freedom than those that do. Voting is not how freedom will be rescued. They are all at the mercy of judges.

    • You should care because the left coast tends to export culture and political ideas which means you can expect a gun/ammo ban near you soon if you don’t fight it. We are one nation despite some states straying very far from the constitution.

    • Thanks, Darkman, for kicking us while we are down, with tyrany’s boot already on our face. Just FYI we ARE fighting, about as hard as we can. We vote, we donate, we get out on petition drives and do what we can to win friends to the shooting sports and to the 2nd Amendment. All that is not enough, clearly. We have court challenges right now, fighting the handgun roster (knocking on SCOTUS door as we speak), fighting the magazine capacity restriction (a significant victory there recently but the fight’s not over yet) and the AW ban (currently waiting on a judge to render a decision). When you are vastly outnumbered, your fight at the ballot box doesn’t matter as much as how much you are willing to spend to fight these bastards in court. You go ahead and laugh, when we twist the ankle and break the knee of the fascist mo-fo with the boot on our face now, will you be able to look us in the eye knowing you could’ve helped, but decided to stand there laughing and pointing like Nelson Muntz instead? Friends like you are the reason the 2nd Amendment doesn’t need any enemies. Thanks again, pal.

  2. Ah the good old days of 7n6. I shot that stuff like it was going out of style… little did I know, it was.

  3. The only time lead hurts wildlife is when you shoot them.
That whole “spent lead is being ingested and killing wildlife” was debunked long ago.
If they do ingest it, it passes right through.

      • Would like to see the source as well, always seemed the industrial waste lead in groundwater was the bigger concern but I haven’t done anything in environmental science since college.

        • Just know if a liberal said it regardless of their credentials, it’s most likely wrong. Especially in regard to anything having to do with the environment.

        • Ah good Texican; Perfect example of “the Genetic fallacy”. Thank you for your demonstration.

      • Lead is non-soluble in water unless the solution highly acidic. Look up on any solubility chart for your chemistry course. What’s more is lead is an ubiquitous naturally occurring element , particularly in the west. Where do you think the lead in bullets came from the sky? Animals do not find lead to be food, it doesn’t look like food, it doesn’t smell like food, animals don’t eat lead any more than they eat rocks. This is just CA using environmental dogoodery to infringe on 2A rights once again.

    • Trillions of lead bullets have been fired throughout history, very few of which in a controlled environment designed for it. If fired lead bullets were poisonous we’d have plenty of proof

      • Good point Red. There’s been lead in the ground from Revolution War, Civil War, Indian Wars, Chicago Gang Wars. Lots more lead planted in those wars than a bunch of today’s hunters who use how-many-bullets per hunt? Not even a box.

        • Just because lead is a neurotoxin does not mean it’s easily ingestible. Lead has extremely low solubility under normal pH conditions which is why lead pipe was used for thousands of years for drinking water supply with no problems. Only when the pH is made very acidic does it become soluble and potentially ingestible and dangerous. Eco-politicians couldn’t dupe the masses with such BS if people had a better grasp of chemistry and science.

  4. Lead rounds are banned due to environmental concerns. Next, solid non lead alloy and steel core rounds will be banned as being armor piercing. Only airsoft will be permitted. Oh wait, those are plastic so that’s out too due to potential pollution hazards to marine wildlife. Are you ready?

  5. If your going hunting in California, I’ll guarantee you the cops in the field will out number the hunters looking for lead bullets, so beware,,, I remember when they got rid of lead shot for waterfowl, cops everywhere wanting to look at your shotgun & ammo stash… not pretty if you get caught. But you people are the ones who voted for these people, & yes the whole west coast sucks because of liberals, most of which never leave the big city & don’t want you to either.

    • Silly, silly. Just go hunting with an illegal or protected minority class person. They won’t check your bag or pockets. You’re good to go.

    • “I’ll guarantee you the cops in the field will out number the hunters”

The DFG has about 1 officer for every 150+ square miles. There are a couple more hunters than that for that size an area.

    • I seem to recall the discovery that depleted uranium was discovered to be quite harmful, esp. the dust caused on impact. IIRC, while of interest scientifically, nobody really cared, if you don’t like it don’t piss us off enough that we send the A-10s after your ass.

  6. The areas I hunt were already lead free. Steel shot for my shotguns and copper ammo for my rifle. There’s really not a great deal of difference in the cost of steel shot as opposed to lead. At the time I bought a supply the copper ammo for my .243 was just about double the lead ammo I use to practice with. But I stocked up and will have enough on hand to not have to resupply until I leave CA or get too decrepit to hunt anymore.

And I may actually bow hunt this season. A first for me. And I have a good air rifle. Lead ammo is still good to go and it’s legal to hunt up to and including turkeys.

If I really wanted to give the finger to CA I would get a PCP, an air rifle, and hunt deer with it loaded with lead ammo.

And yes, here in CA we have game cops out and about.

    • There any cheap alternatives to lead at all? I see lead bans as the next big thing to start migrating across the country. I get copper bullets are effective but copper is expensive and will only get more expensive as more of it is used for ammo.

      • Not that I’m aware of. Steel is cheapest. But it doesn’t perform as well as lead in a shotgun. I’m not aware of steel being used for rifle and handgun ammo and I’d imagine if it was used it would wear the barrels out quicker.

Copper seems to be best. And like you said, it costs.

        • I believe you can’t use steel in an old rifle or shotgun. Not sure what year they started making steel-tolerant barrels.

    • Where were California hunting types when these laws were discussed, voted on? For myself, I never hunted, not opposed to hunting, simply not interested. My interest was directed to Target Shooting, National Match Course Competition and also Long Range competition. It is claimed that there are lots of shooters and gun owners in California. Perhaps so, however given that fact??, where were/are they when legislators come up for election or reelection?

      • The California hunting types were probably working, feeding their families, double shifts. You know, the stuff the stupid middle class does. The other group are paid protesters, $15.00 per hour in Chicago.

      • You’re going out of your way to victim blame, alan, and make yourself feel big. There are, maybe, 8 million gun owners in CA. Out of a state of 35+ million. And as far as hunters go there are roughly 250,000 of us.

So even a highly intelligent chap such as yourself can see, we can’t win. But don’t worry. CA is spreading. And if the dems get the majority again in dc you will all get a taste of CA.

      • [Where were California hunting types when these laws were discussed, voted on?]

It was never on a ballot. Done by the state assembly I believe. Not much hope there.

  7. those zinc bullets will leave your barrel looking shiny clean.. albeit with shallower rifling.

^just kidding, i have no idea how hard that metal is

    • Zinc is a soft and very light metal. Think of what’s inside the new pennies. I don’t think it would make a good bullet. Usually it is alloyed into copper bullets for more strength (I guess technically copper bullets are closer to bronze chemically).

      • We got some Zinc slugs for our shotguns. Very erratic accuracy. Maybe too light and unstable? The sabot copper bullets fired from a rifled shotgun barrel, isn’t that an oxymoron?, are very accurate. But very expensive.

  8. Genuinely want to know as I’ve never handled copper rounds… How could law enforcement tell? and don’t they need a warrant to search your person and property? Cutting or otherwise marking the round could be considered destruction of private property could it not?

    • Unfortunately hunting is a different animal. At least in my state when I get my tags I’m also agreeing to let the wardens yard thru my stuff to ensure I’m in compliance. Hunting is a privilege and exercising it apparently requires concessions. The worst is when they come up on the blind as the animals are rolling in. Or my car when I’m changing into dry clothes for the drive home.

    • Taylor. I’m not aware of a separate hunting season for ‘primitive’ arms here in CA. Hunting with front stuffers really isn’t much of a thing here. The folks that I know that do it use In Line guns with the 209 primers. And there are copper only sabot bullets for these.

  9. Since this TAG site see’s fit to delete all my comments, (must be a lib site) I’m deleting this site.

  10. In pesticide laws…what goes in Cali tend to follow elsewhere 5-7 years later.

They become the bellwether for other states and the fed’s looking for the most restrictive example.

So it goes with guns….the left wing Cali culture is matastizing to other states in political circles. Additionally, those fleeing Cali have often become cancer seeds in their new state of choice.

Unfortunately, many POTG ( who label hunters as FUDDs) dont care about hunting issues as long as it doesnt affect their 3 gun matches or AR builds or suppressor collection.

Kinda the flips side of attitudes they use to describe “FUDDs”.

Well guess what…..the antis see us all the same and every chink in the armor ultimately affects us all.

  11. There’s no right to hunting, so CA could ban it outright if they wanted, or they could be a $10000 surcharge on tags. They’re setting extra criteria for a voluntary activity. I go to ranges that restrict steel core ammo, and I don’t throw a fit about my rights being limited. I either use something else, or I go somewhere else. They banned mountain lion hunts in 1990, and the population had grown and threatens people and domestic animals. One got a 4 year old in San Diego County at the end of May. Once they’re overrun by feral hogs in the north, their deer are overpopulated and dying from starvation and disease, and predators are eating their cats, they might change their minds, but I doubt it.

    • A few months ago, in Ventura County, Fish and Game sponsored a quail shoot for youngsters. Basically they need the revenue from hunters. Anyway, they took a young hunter, one at a time, into the brush and walk them through what to do. I’m not a hunter, but a buddy of mine took his 11 year old to this sponsored hunt.

      • It doesn’t make sense. Illinois has youth beginner hunts, too. The state hates guns, but the DNR has lots of beginner hunting clinics…..women, youth. Even a class on “how to cook wild game”. …go figger…..

  12. Californy is the place you oughta” be so they loaded up their LEAD and they dumped it in the sea🎤🎶😏At least you “sometimes” have nice weather…😩

  13. So, question:

Maybe I’m just in a fog thanks to this head cold but it strikes me that in the cases of handgun and rifle ammo there’s a distinct possibility that non-lead rounds would be either very expensive or flat out banned when they were considered to be AP.

Now, as far as I’m aware the definition of “AP” has to do with the core of the bullet, which be definition requires a jacket. So would non-jacketed ammo made from something other than lead not be AP because the whole bullet is made of it rather than the “core”?

  14. California’s ultimate goal (and the gun-grabbers’ ultimate goal) is a two step process:
Step 1: Ban all lead ammunition as “bad for the environment.”
Step 2: Ban all non-lead ammunition (any metal harder than lead, including copper) as “armor-piercing cop-killer bullets.”
Mission accomplished, because then all ammunition will be banned! “That’s not a bug, it’s a feature,” to gun-grabbers.

Think I’m kidding? I’m not. It’s the gun-grabbers’r ultimate goal, banning all ammunition.
I heard California once tried doing both steps at once (banning all lead ammo and all non-lead ammo), but someone caught on to their attempt to ban all ammo. They’ll try to sneak it in again under the radar sooner or later, mark my words.

  15. Lead has been used for projectiles for centuries because it works. If it was a real health hazard we’d have known long before this. Ever try to cast your own round balls for a front stuffer out of copper or some other crap? Or mold your own bullets for reloading out of something other than lead? CA is terminally stupid.

    • ” If it (lead) was a real health hazard we’d have known long before this”

      Jane you ignorant slut…
Lead can be a serious health hazard especially with children. It causes brain abnormalities and developmental issues amongst other health issues. This has been known for a long time and that is why it was removed from many products.
Perhaps you ate to many paint chips before this was done.

  16. Is there such a thing as lead-free .22 LR ammunition? I cannot say that I have ever come across such a configuration.

As for increasing ammunition costs, I don’t believe ammunition costs will increase on the order of 300% as the National Shooting Sports Foundation claims. I figure maybe 50% at most. And if we are talking about deer hunting for example, that means a box of 20 cartridges might cost $36 instead of $24. More importantly, most hunters will only need ONE cartridge to harvest their deer. In other words that single cartridge will cost about $1.80 instead of $1.20, hardly anything to get excited about.

    • So, if lead is so bad, why allow it for pellet guns, bb guns and personal protection? Likewise if cigarettes are so bad, ie causes cancer, why is it still on the market? If carbon is so bad, why does the government use/fossil fuel? Why does Al Gore/Leonard DeCaprio/ fly private jets? Leonard flew his friends from Sydney to Las Vegas for New Years. Woody Harrelson had his vegan belt and shoes flown from the Cannes Film Festival France to California. The list never ends…………………………..

  17. The hunters I know are GTG on lead free ammo for a few seasons. They hunt in Southern and Central CA and say Fish and Game are always watching.

  18. do not like non lead for bulluts, good to go with the rules on public land, but private land? It’s “my” pond and I can fish with dynamite if I want to.

  19. ” it would mean substantially higher costs ”

If price hikes do occur I would bet it is mostly do to price gouging as lead is becoming increasingly depleted which has escalated prices. It would cost more for lead than for the steel materials. Currently steel/bimetal ammo is produced today at competitive prices so manufacturing cost should not be the issue either. By all accounts, steel based ammo should actually cost less. Currently the price of lead on the world market is about $1900/ton compared to $620/ton for steel.
Beware of those who call themselves friends.

        • Hoo damn yeah, 68 Fury with a 440 Magnum bought from the hiway patrol. The speedo indicator went one way and the fuel gauge went the other

        • I’ve seen quite a few car motors melted down from AV-gas. Believe it or not it isn’t nearly as consistent as automotive pump gas. You tune for one batch and the next tank can run a half percent or more leaner. Can you say detonation? It’s works in airplanes because they are watching the EGTs and changing the mixture according to altitude anyways. Automotive racing fuels will make the most power in your car, AV gas is more a placebo effect.

  20. No need to worry about penalizing the nation’s gun owners for this with +100s% costs. Keep making the same ammo and let the CA voters deal with it or move!! Simple! The shooting population in CA must be substantial!

  21. Strikes me that the law abiding residents of California who for some odd reason opt to exercise their constitutional rights have been screwed. The saddest part of this situation appears, to me anyhow, that the screwing took place due to inaction, lack of attention, lack of interest on the part of the above mentioned. In case anyone is interested, many years ago, I lived for a while in The Bay Area, specifically Berkley and Oakland. NO, I was not a student, just an ordinary working type Piping Designer.

  22. Washington isnt far behind. They have oulawed use of lead wheel weights and lead-free shot when within x yards of a body of water.

  23. Am I ready for California’s lead ammo ban? Sure thing, I don’t live there and never will. I was stuck there for 18 months after getting out of the Army, and got out as soon as I could and I will never go back. I advise all other true Americans to get out as well.

  24. No-lead ammunition makes sense only at shooting ranges or any other place where there would be a considerable amount of it accumulated in berms, etc. Some ranges even upon occasion dig out their berms and sift out the lead for recycling. Of course, this would be totally impractical at places where hunting is practiced because the lead bullets would be scattered so far and wide that it wouldn’t be worth the effort – which is also why lead ammunition bans for hunting are just plain stupid.

Lead ore is most commonly found in a mineral called galena. Oddly enough, galena is an excellent source of silver, also. Maybe the Lone Ranger had the right idea all along.

  25. What a bunch of crap. I have plenty of guns and i hunt the hell out of dove and pheasant. I even go into Baja to shoot the mierda out of Upland game birds. I am plenty conservative and i carry a copy of the constitution around with me, ever since i studied the constitution at length in law school. I have a healthy disdain for government overreach, but if you don’t like it in CA, you can stay in the fly over states. I’ll drive by your raggedy ass land locked states in my RV with the kids on the way to the right coast. And when i stop in Arizona to eat, i’ll Go in establishments with a don’t bring your gun in sing in the window. Packing a gun all day is creepy. I pay high taxes i CA to have a kickass LE presents. We live in the best country in the world, trying acting like it. The regulations in this particular law were deigned to stop poisoning the environment, animals, people from lead. The same reason you can’t use lead paint anymore. Basic.

    • You tell them Jimmy!

You only need guns for hunting. Nothing will happen to you outside your home. You have a smart phone to call the police. Why in the would you need a gun. Just whip out the phone and dial 911, and the criminal will piss his pants running home to Mama.

Hell, with the police you don’t need a gun for self protection. Just call 911.

In fact, if you use a gun for self defense, you should be charged for threatening or hurting the poor guy(s) breaking into your home.

In fact, to avoid unnecessary violence, any hunters who discover some criminals trying to break into your home should leave their gun safe open for the criminals. That way, they will not hurt you trying to get them.

The police will catch them later, right Jimmy?
