A little less than a year ago, my wife made her case to be inducted into the wife hall of fame. It was our wedding day, and she had sent her present to me with a friend of mine.
We had gathered at our favorite local bar so that I could get a little liquid courage to stand in front of 350 people and declare my intentions. My buddy Matt handed me the bag, and I pulled out a hard plastic case with the word “GLOCK” across the front. Everyone looked on, and after the initial shock wore off, officially declared my new wife to be one of the coolest chicks in the country. I was inclined to agree.
A few months earlier she was having trouble figuring out what to get me. Luckily that week I joined a friend at the shooting range for the first time. We put a couple hundred rounds through his GLOCK 17 and GLOCK 27. To say I was hooked would be the understatement of the year.
My wife called my friend and said, “I figured it out, I’m going to buy Pat a gun.” He met her at a local gun shop and they settled on a GLOCK 19 Gen 3. Which I would later learn is a tremendous choice for a first-time gun owner.
A year later I couldn’t be happier to be a responsible gun owner. I sleep soundly at night knowing I have protection at my disposal five feet away should I ever need to protect my wife. I am now a regular at the range, and an avid reader of TTAG. There’s nothing I enjoy more than talking firearms with fellow gun owners, it really feels like I’ve joined a family.
Where did you find the photo of the wedding cake decoration? That’s adorable.
Not sure if links are allowed, but you can get those from quite a few places, including Amazon and etsy. Google “spy cake topper”. It was our wedding cake topper and one of our wedding photos was a recreation, which didn’t turn out as well as we’d hoped. Apparently the sun sets mighty early in November, who knew?
That’s a pretty cool story, you should return the favor and get her a gun next anniversary. Pro tip is get her some jewelry or what not to go with the gun.
My wife got me a Beretta M9 for our 10th wedding anniversary 2 & 1/2 years ago. She got a 3-stone diamond ring. I’ve had to buy a few more guns to make up the difference! LOL!

If there’s guns at the wedding, I wonder what a divorce might look like?
From experience the answer is very messy…
It really gives new meaning to the vow “til death do us part”… Although rational people are of course able to divorce without resorting to pistols at dawn as a dispute resolution method.
Divorce is ALWAYS ugly.
50% of marriages end in divorce. The other 50% end in death. Death is usually the much preferred method. The G19 is an awesome first choice, taught my sister to shoot with one. Had her ringing steel at 100 yards the first day.
Best to just get the Glock out of the way right off the bat, otherwise you’ll spend the rest of your shooting career saying why you wouldn’t carry one. Until you eventually say “I do.” Giggity.

Kinda hard to argue that, it IS her turn after all; even if the last acquisition was a raffle winning.

Wow, I didn’t expect to see this today. Thanks for the compliments everybody. Her gift was a pair of very nice earrings, she wore them that day. Yes, she is a keeper for sure. The best part about it is at the time she was absolutely terrified of guns. For her to put that aside and get it anyway because she knew I wanted it is what made it special.
Finally got her to the range, and she had a great time.
