Well that didn’t take long. Or relevant information. White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest reacted to the Oregon Umpqua College shooting by reiterating the administration’s support for gun control. “The president has been quite candid about how this is and has been a source of frustration for him.” Apparently, the “vast majority of the American people” agreed with Obama “on some element of gun control.” That said, the White House flew the white flag, signaling the unlikelihood of Congressional action on gun control.  “Fundamental change” in the country is necessary for political action, Earnest said. 1. That was fast.

They didn’t even bother responding to that woman that was shot in San Fran by the illegal.

How about the 14 people shot in gun free Chicago 2 days ago.

    • Never let a crisis go to waste.

      October Surprise.

Maybe this’ll knock Trump and immigration out of the headlines for awhile, eh?

Otherwise, business as usual, nothing to see here but the NRA Run Amok. Move along, sheeple. Move along.

    • It’s time to quit with the “gun free Chicago” bit. While it’s true that Chicago became the murder capital of the US during the heyday of its handgun ban, SCOTUS smacked down that law in 2010 and the Illinois legislature passed “shall issue” concealed carry (with a preemption clause) in 2013, after getting slapped by the 7th Circuit US Court of Appeals.

Notwithstanding the fact that the dozens of “prohibited areas” in the law make concealed carry a non-starter for many Chicagoans (especially those who rely on public transportation), it’s easier to carry a gun in Chicago than most other urban liberal utopias.

  2. This incident today is terrorism, plain and simple. The ironic thing is that if the federal government did classify it as a terrorist attack they just may have more power to violate our constitutional rights.

    • NYT is reporting shooter asked victims their religion before firing.

Sure don’t want to jump to any conclusions about the race and religion of the shooter.

        • That’s ok, Shep reported the same thing, and so far Fox hasn’t recanted that piece of information. It’ll be interesting to see what ethnicity and religion the drt dirtbag was.

      • That’s okay. Since we don’t even have a name for the shooter yet, it’s safe to say he’s in one of the protected groups in this nation. I’ve heard he’s white, so that means he belongs to an actual protected group of people, like muslims or LBGT, or is a democrat.

Normally we’ve got the killer’s face planted all over the TV screen along with his name, his family history, his medical history, his favorite color, and favorite TV shows before the first ambulance departs the scene with any of the victims.

  3. Have they no shame?

Waving the bloody shirt in the air for propaganda purposes before the departed’s bodies
    have even reached ambient temperature?

    That’s just wrong…

  4. The only gun not controlled was in the shooters hands . I bet he bought it legally and passed all background checks .
We must have complete and absolute gun confiscation in America to keep us safe .
    BULLSHIT !
If we banned all guns from society then this nut would have just crushed fifty skulls with a Viking ax .
When is someone going to just pour out five gallons of gas and strike a match .

    • The shooter was 20 and could not have legally bought a handgun. I doubt he was using a long gun. Also, as of 2015, private sales are forbidden in Oregon according to handgunlaw.com.

      • That would make the gun in his hand , not controlled , and it could have easily been a hunting rifle and on and on , it really doesn’t matter Ken , that’s the point . If those being the targets had been armed , outcome is always different , that’s the point . It is the only way the alter the outcomes of these scenarios .

      • Private sales are not forbidden in Oregon. They are now required (in most cases) to have a background check performed on the buyer at an FFL with both parties present.

Many County Sheriffs have said they will not enforce this new law that recently went into effect.

  5. And the president’s constant call for gun control, immediately after every incident of mass murder with a gun, has been frustrating for us.

It will take a fundamental change for him to finally blame the person behind the murders.

  6. Have you seen the pictures of students lined up by the police with their hands on their heads, and some of them handcuffed? Is that really necessary? To presume everyone on the scene is guilty or under suspicion?

    Pic link here

And I bet they searched them also. Illegal search? Where’s the probable cause, or do exigent circumstances give them the “authority?”

    • The cops also confiscated students’ phones according to another report. That seems illegal as well. I’m sure if I was there they’d try to take my legally concealed firearm as well.

  7. Yup fundamental changes are needed for sure. Get rid of useless Democrats and their universally worthless Gun Free Zones. See how well they are working. Then leave our military and “students” also disarmed. How we’ll is that working for you Mr Obama? Where is your using your common sense working for you! In the White House bathrooms with your armed guards!!!

  8. We should start spreading the rumor that the shooter was moslem. The media and king osama will drop it like a hot potato.

  9. The Obammunists are getting better. In the past, the blood had already dried by the time they got around to dancing in it. No more.

  10. I was at a sporting goods store today exchanging a holster. The store sports a “gun free zone” sign on the door because it is within 1,000 feet of a high school that cannot be seen from the store, and it has to warn its customers to be careful when they leave; although its primary business is guns, ammo, and hunting supplies. I was considering the absurdity and then we have this absurdity and tragedy. The photo of the students and college workers being treated like suspects was despicable. I don’t usually go here, but it also looked sadly like pictures of WW2 prisoners being marched off to whatever fate awaited them.

  11. Would it be tasteless for me to say “trigger alert” before supplying this quote from Vox?

“And as more and more of these end up in the news on what feels like a weekly basis, the country is being forced to consider why it suffers from such extraordinary levels of gun violence.”

I didn’t realize it was possible to cram that much misdirection, lying, and mendacity into one sentence.

    Meanwhile,…

    http://lawstreetmedia.com/blogs/crime/crime-america-2016-top-10-dangerous-cities-200000/

    • I don’t wonder, because it’s not extraordinary. The media just makes it out to be. But if I had to wonder why we had violence at all, it’s because humans will always be violent, especially when they’re raised in this sick, backwards, leftist dystopia parody of America.

Also, in every generation of human existence since we stood on two legs, it’s been the most basic common sense of living things to defend themselves. Nowadays, the idiot sheep all over western civilization allow themselves to be slaughtered without so much as thinking of fighting back. Sheer, unfathomable lunacy has become the norm.

  12. The Obama administration is utterly despicable. There will be a special place in hell for someone who dances in the blood of innocents the way that Obama has, repeatedly.

  13. Not even armed security. Yes they reported they searched everyone including full bossy pats prior to allowing them to leave. Seized the cars as potential evidence until they run the dogs around them. What about if a dog hits on drugs? Think they’ll bother to get a warrant? The guy even posts he’s going to commit the act and NOT ONE person notifies anyone.
Obama is dancing in joy now.

  14. The only logical conclusion for any gun control argument is complete disarmament. “Fundamental change” is an understatement.

  15. Bottom line: the usual suspects will scream for more, useless gun control. Those with an ounce of sense will realize how useful a gun is for self protection.

    • The problem is the same it’s been for decades. Those with sense don’t always have the power, and their senselessness becomes law.

  16. A speedy opinion, such as the one we see from Josh and the WH are the result of emotional thinking then reaction, logic and reason are vacant.

I and many American citizens are sick and tired of this type of response from our so-called leadership, which it is clear they are not.

They upset rather than calm, they divide rather than unite, they react rather than provide a measured thoughtful response, they hope to expand their political agendas at the expense of the people they are sworn to work in the best interest for.

Please vote for someone other than a career politician, the chain must be broken. I support the businessman, Trump.

  17. “White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest reacted to the Oregon Umpqua College shooting by reiterating the administration’s support for gun control.”

It would be nice if the administration proposed something that might control the violent use of guns by whack-jobs intent on mass murder vs. lawful citizens intent on protecting themselves when the government (meaning the administration) can’t. Like a classroom. That has been disarmed. On a campus. That has been disarmed. Perhaps with a single security guard. Who is not allowed to be armed. (Or was that too subtle.)

“The president has been quite candid about how this is and has been a source of frustration for him.”

The president would be a good deal less frustrated were he to propose something that made some sense. That he – or his advisors – can’t think up – or aren’t willing to embrace – something that makes sense is a different problem.

I’m for “common sense gun-control.” That’s gun control that might have stopped this. It would be nice if they were to propose some.

“Apparently, the “vast majority of the American people” agreed with Obama “on some element of gun control.””

That is weasel-dom. Indeed, even I agree with “some element of gun control” which might be claimed as something Obama agrees with. Parsing the words of any particular proposal, we agree on nothing at all.

“That said, the White House flew the white flag, signaling the unlikelihood of Congressional action on gun control. “Fundamental change” in the country is necessary for political action, Earnest said”

This administration has been remarkably successful at advancing legislation of its choosing – cough, ACA, cough. Once again I call BS.

Rather than wave the bloody shirt, whine then insult other people, how about propose something concrete and sensible, and go on the advocacy-path, not for how much “those people” suck, but for the logic behind, and sensible, measured development of, the concrete proposed legislation we can all read ahead of time.

I, for one, remember the “Schumer” amendment to the last round of proposed federal gun law. Advertised as tightening up this or that, providing limitations for the other *the actual language* had holes in it you could drive an entire caravan of ATF trucks full of battle rifles through.

Propose something: measured, effective, transparent, and on-point. I’ll wait.

  18. How about someone in the media ask how the administration can support Planned Parenthood and be so concerned about our constitutional right when PP kills a whole lot more than guns do.

  19. Know your rights and the law: The Federalist Papers (On every supreme court judge and federal judges desk for Constitutional cases – so don’t say they are not law. Especially when Hamilton publically advised the new Southern VA law school to use them “for they are the law.” Here they are, look it up for yourself:

The Federalist Papers, No. 28: Alexander Hamilton expressed that when a government betrays the people by amassing too much power and becoming tyrannical, the people have no choice but to exercise their original right of self-defense — to fight the government.[Halbrook, p. 67]
The Federalist Papers, No. 29: Alexander Hamilton explained that an armed citizenry was the best and only real defense against a standing army becoming large and oppressive. [Halbrook, p. 67]
The Federalist Papers, No. 46: James Madison contended that ultimate authority resides in the people, and that if the federal government got too powerful and overstepped its authority, then the people would develop plans of resistance and resort to arms. [Halbrook, p. 67]

  20. Fundamental change in America. I guess Obama and and ISIS really do have a lot in common.

It takes a sick, twisted soul to want to fundamentally change the tenets of the world’s first and only free nation. Or what used to be.

  21. And if one or two of the students in the room had been armed the dead and /or wounded, if there were any, could have probably been counted on one hand. Campus carry, people, campus carry.

  22. This dumb @ss president will be gone soon. What does the communist “democrat” or “independent” Bernie Sanders think about this shooting and how to “control” the future? The same Bernie who voted for the assault weapons ban!!!!!!!! The same Bernie who thinks only old white people need guns.

  23. The point to keep in mind is that those responsible for creating a “gun free zone” are the enablers of the homicidal maniacs who exploit the advantage their enablers give them to kill without interference. The psychotic murderers are given a guarantee that they will have the only gun on the scene, a fact which perversely attracts them to such “gun free zones”.
Instead of admitting the “unintended consequences” — to give these enablers of mass-murder the full benefit of the doubt about their true motives — of their (at best) naive idea that “If no one is allowed to have a gun here, then nobody can get shot”, they instead try to use every such inevitable slaughter by a maniac seeking “fame” as an opportunity to demand more useless restrictions on the rights of innocent gun owners.
There is, of course, no way to prove it, but the repeatedly proven failure of the concept of “the gun free zone”, and its constant use by gun-haters as an opportunity to call for still more useless gun control laws, indicates the motives of those behind such laws as astonishingly evil.
It is possible to say they failed to see the perverse effect of the concept of a “gun free zone”, supposedly magically created by the passing of a law and the posting of a sign. It is not so easy to forgive their failure to recognize that such “gun free zones” invite the dangers they purport to defend against. Nor can we forgive their attempts to deflect their guilt onto all gun-owners. They are responsible for the creation of these “gun free zones”, and the ultimate bloody outcome of what they have legislated. The gun-owning public has not violated their ineffective, perverse law, only homicidal madmen have done so.
This willful ignoring of the abject failure of the concept of the “gun free zone”, combined with the ceaseless attempt to shift blame onto all gun-owners and demand more useless laws to still further harass them, suggests that the true — incredibly evil — intent of “gun free zone” laws has been achieved —- shocking mass-murders have occurred, and the publicity has encouraged “copycat” lunatics to join in still more slaughter of the innocent. That appears to be the intended goal of the “gun free zone” concept —- create guaranteed “defenseless victim zones”, then sit back and wait for the inevitable mass-murders by the homicidal psychos allowed to remain at large in our society. When the inevitable happens, blame “lax gun laws”, “assault weapons”, “too many guns in our community”, “gun-nuts” etc. anything or anyone but the authors of the legislation that enabled and attracted the mass-murderer. These enablers of slaughter appear quite willing to accept the loss of innocent life to achieve their goal of further gun control laws.
Once they embrace the idea that their noble ends justify any means, there is no limit to what horrendous evil they will employ.

  24. Almost information about the shooter was public at the time they started pushing for gun control. Maybe that he was male. Why does the media give them a pass that gun control would have prevented this event, when we have hardly any information about the event yet? I’m against Evidence-Free Zones.

  25. Gun control = TREASON. The school shooting is tragic and about as far away from Texas with its lawful campus carry. Why didn’t this dirtbag go to Texas to show how tough he really is? THIS is why people should not be harassed about carrying guns.
No double standards put DC politicians on Obamacare and SS.Thanks for your support and vote. Pass the word. mrpresident2016.com

  26. So let me understand this MY Constitutional Right is a great source of frustration for this socialist simpleton of a president!?! If that is frustrating him I wonder how he is feeling about the mess he has created in the middle east?

  27. The solution is simple. EVERYBODY gets a mental evaluation. Those that don’t meet the norms can’t drive, can’t vote, etc. Huh? Rights? But it’s FOR THE CHILDREN!

In truth, all these shooters are nuts. They will hurt someone. Guns are just an easy way to do it. Unless, you have mandatory screening for everybody, you’ll have shootings. Even then, how do you stop them from getting so guns? Knives? Melon balls?
