As ABC News reports, “Shots were fired this morning near the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. U.S. Capitol Police responded to the area at Washington Ave and Independence Ave, which is located near the U.S. Botanic Garden and the Rayburn House office building. The suspect apparently struck a Capitol Police cruiser and then tried running over several officers who were on foot, according to Metro DC Police. At one point Capitol Police fired shots, but no one was hit. The suspect was apprehended at 3rd and Independence Ave, and has been taken into custody.”

There’s no mention yet of any injuries. Some reports indicate the individual was holding a suspicious package, but as is invariably the case, early reports are misleading or incorrect. More when it becomes available.

  1. Aren’t all these actions illegal? Why would he break the law?

Oh… because he’s a criminal and you can’t legislate morality.

  2. The headline gives the feeling that a criminal fired shots vs. the police firing on the suspect in response. Just saying.

    • Weird as that may sound, it isn’t the rumblings of a conspiracy theorist. The Democrats have been spewing propaganda about “The Revolution” for weeks, and on cue, the crazies jump and do crazy things. Heck, even the not-so-crazies are having a collective temper tantrum using violent protests in some banana republic style attempt to overturn a fair election.

  3. The suspicious package was probably a phone that the suspect was texting on when he/she/x struck the police car. Realizing being stupid had led to trouble for the suspect, the suspect then pulled another stupid move in an attempt to avoid capture.

  4. Why does TTAG feel obligated to post breaking news every time some idiot with a gun cuts loose? Feels like click bait I can read elsewhere.
