Surprising precisely no one, President Trump has nominated Judge Amy Coney Barrett to fill the seat on the Supreme Court made vacant by the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. The nomination will now almost surely set up an epic fight in the Senate over Barrett’s confirmation, featuring desperate and scurrilous attacks on her gender, her religion and her character.

Judge Barrett was nominated to the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals by Trump and confirmed in 2017. As for her position on gun rights, the record is limited, but promising. See Bruce Krafft’s post regarding her judicial approach and  her dissent in a case regarding the restoration of a non-violent felon’s gun rights.

Hang on, because while the Democrats don’t appear to have the votes in the Senate to stop Barrett’s confirmation, as they did with Brett Kavanaugh, they’ll likely make the process as bloody, nasty and unpleasant as humanly possible.

She is a “progressives” worst nightmare..

    • The antithesis of the Notorious RBG it would seem……

My bet is this is “the art of the deal” in action. People will scream and babies will cry, and then we will hear, “You don’t want this candidate? Well then I’ll offer this one as a substitute, but I don’t want to hear any crap about it, or I will put ACB back in the running!”

    • TTAG has been curiously absent of genuine trolls over recent weeks. The current lap dog barking at a few heels here doesn’t count, as her comments don’t stimulate debate or conversation.

  2. Hey, Dan Zimmerman. This stalking is ridiculous. Don’t ban these trolls. Just let us know under which names they are appearing here on ttag. Are they a regular that just feels pissy or are they something else entirely.

    Bored minds want to know.

  3. The idea that adopting black children is racist is baloney. Black racism is something that we endured for many years as people thought we should not have the children. I never had “the talk” with my children and they are doing very well and never suffered at the hands of the police. My children are well adjusted and successful. Kendi is a racist and needs to come to terms with his life and not criticize others.

    • You just don’t understand White Supremacy and White Privilege, you benighted soul.

It is far, FAR better for a child to grow up in squalor, playing in the raw sewage running in the gutters, uneducated, and to die young from disease or a gunshot wound in Haiti, among other happy Haitian children of his own kind, than to be brought to THIS racist, oppressive country, given a good life, a good home, a good education, and a future while being raised by White Supremacists because White Privilege.

Likewise, it is far, FAR better for a young black male, or female, or child to be senselessly gunned down by another young, black male in Chicago, or Baltimore, or Detroit, or Oakland than to be shot while violently resisting arrest by a cop (whose race doesn’t matter–Black, White, Asian, it’s all the same) because White Privilege and White Supremacy.

I do hope that this clears things up for you.

  4. Sooo, Mr. Kendi, how many children from Haiti have you taken into your life, to love, to cherish , to provide for, to raise as your own, to educate, to give a chance to? This child had $#!t for a future if he / she stayed in Haiti…Haiti is the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere with a gross annual pay average of around $750 USD per year / per person.

Mr. Kendi, you are a privileged racist schmuck!

Speaking of Justice Roberts…there are rumors that he may have illegally adopted a child and that the Democrats are holding this as some sort of threat over him. Have DOJ investigate, and, if true, have the President pardon Justice Roberts for the crime of giving a child a better chance than it would have had in it’s native country…it might be enuf to swing him back to a more Constructionist stance on his decisions.

    • He doesn’t belong here…. talking advantages from ACTUAL AMERICANS you dip$hit…
We don’t need anymore 3rd world problems, we already have millions on welfare from 3rd world trash…..
You wanna help Haitians, GO TO HAITI, DON’T BRING THAT CRAP HERE!!!!

      • Dear George,

So nice to hear from you at last. I am a bit surprised that you were eligible for a weekend pass so soon.

Speaking of dip$hit…considering your lengthy past record of armed robbery, theft and drugs I’m guessing that you landed in the Seventh Circle of Dante’s Inferno. It’s an unpleasant place for those who get to spend eternity there…slow moving river that you swim in perpetually, “life”guards patrolling the shore in case you get tired and try to land for a rest…you DID learn to swim in life, didn’t you? You should try alternating swimming, treading and bobbing to keep you focused whilst you reflect on your past life and your myriad poor decisions.

Please allow me to make a suggestion:
When Virgil passes by conducting a tour – try to talk him up, he has some meager connections with the Inferno’s Management and could, possibly, get some of your sentence commuted.

Wish you the best in your present circumstances.

        Respectfully,

        OGiM

PS: if you wish to excoriate someone for the conditions in Haiti please direct your self-righteous anger to the Clinton Foundation. Their history of collecting (but, not distributing) funds for the 2010 earthquake in Haiti is well documented requiring only the most cursory search.

  5. Seriously? Somebody taking care of kids you don’t want yourself is “colonialism?”

Donthese people even hear themselves or are we witnessing peak mindless, repeat-the-script-at-all-cost NPC?

    • Trump could have nominated Garland and the Democrats would have found something to complain about.
I find it very humorous to listen to the childish antics when they do not get their way.

    • Adopt only white kids as a white person and clearly you’re racist. Adopt a non-white kid and it’s racist. Liberal logic.

        • So …… adoptive privilege now? Whatever just hoping to see even more of NY go red this election. Now of only we can override NYC Albany Syracuse and Buffalo.

  6. ……………”“Some White colonizers ‘adopted’ Black children,” Kendi wrote on Twitter. “They ‘civilized’ these ‘savage’ children in the ‘superior’ ways of White people, while using them as props in their lifelong pictures of denial, while cutting the biological parents of these children out of the picture of humanity.”….”

I had thought that the media (All the media) had agreed not to go after children of high public office such as Chelsea, Amy, Baron ect. Heck, I thought the American people had decided this as well a long time ago.

So basically it seems that this person does not want black children being adopted by white people because he’s afraid they will act culturally American white and not American black.
Dude has probably never even been to the Haiti side of the island and knows nothing.

    • My niece, her husband and 4 kid’s (they’re missionaries) adopted a Nigerian boy. They rescued him from certain death as he needed an operation on his cranium. How it happened is quite miraculous. He’s thriving and doing great some 3 years later. The virulent racism of black leftards sure gets tiresome!!!

  7. Part of me wishes that we could have adhered to the standard McConnell set with Merrick Garland (wait until after the election) but on the other hand, this isn’t a normal election (the extreme hatred of the Democrats for Trump and their embrace of violence in having the Dem mayors and governors not stop the rioting in the hope it will scare people into voting for Biden) and it could also be argued that the Democrats blew up the McConnell standard with their trying to destroy Brett Kavanaugh and his family.

Hopefully she gets confirmed! Also, and this is sexist as hell but so be it, but finally a good looking woman on the Court.

    • What about Justice Sotomayor and her infamous quote: “…I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would more often than not reach a better conclusion than a white male…”

(NY Slimes article for 2009 danced around her quote trying to find the clean end of the racist turd Sotomayor verbally gave birth to)

I have high hopes for Associate Justice Barrett in that her jurisprudence so far has avoided racial, ethnic and gender stereotyping.

    • I had thought that waiting was the better move as well.

I’ve since reevaluated my opinion and changed it.

Confirm the new Justice before the election…..because the election, with all the vote by mail stuff, is going to be a $hitshow for sure.

The DNC caused this so they can caterwaul all they want…

    • As had been said before, by an obscure failed politician whose name I cannot recall, “Elections have consequences. We won. You lost.”

Despite the speaker being long forgotten, his words will live forever.

      • The House is important, so as the governorships, it is the Senate though that let’s your president confirm the lower court and Supreme Court judges.

  8. I think the future justice , when they begin to harangue about her religious beleifs, recite law that states you cannot discriminate on race or religion. After that the standard answer should be ” All my decisions will be founded on the constitution that our founding fathers gave us “.

  9. The anti-Catholic hatred is going to be out of control now among the Democrats. Which is weird, because the Pope is about as left wing as it gets (he’s not called “Red Francis” for nothing), the Church is crazy against guns, Irish-Americans are almost all Catholics, mostly anti-gun and almost always vote Democrat, and the worst attackers when Barrett was last confirmed were Jewish (Feinstein and Schumer).

Also, keep in mind that all the current Justices are all Catholic or Jewish — no Protestants at all.

    It’s gonna be a sh!t show.

    • Joe is supposed to be a good Catholic as well. Funny how they hide that. They try to talk up his faith but don’t mention he is Catholic.

Their famed president Kennedy of course was a Catholic. No way would they nominate him today.

Nancy should be tossed out of her church.

The left has spent much time painting Catholic churches as pedophile camps and they’ve worked hard to destroy it. So many churches in cities are abandoned now. Such a shame.

      • Nancy should be tossed out of humanity. When she passes by, people sing, “I feel a devil walking next to me!” (One night in Bangkok)

  10. The Constitution expressly forbids the consideration of religion as a test for qualification for public office: Article VI, Clause 3 -“… ; but no religious test shall ever be required as a qualification to any office or public trust under the United States.” So, the Democrats planning to challenge Amy Coney Barrett’s commitment to her faith as a reason to reject her Nomination should be called-out and forbidden to pursue such lines of questioning by the Committee Chairman, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R) S.C.. That is what ought to happen, whether it will or not remains to be seen.
Nonetheless, I expect Judge Barrett is capable of holding her own in the Hearings.

    • “Nonetheless, I expect Judge Barrett is capable of holding her own in the Hearings.”

She should do fine, she did well recently with Feinstein grilling her with “The dogma loves loudly in you”…

  11. My guess is that the D/S/C’s will emulate the tactics that they employed against Judge Thomas and Kavanaugh. They will accuse Amy Cohen of being sexually promiscuous and exploitive. They will assert that her two black children really weren’t adopted from Haiti. They will assert that those children are actually Judge Cohen’s biological children. There will be a parade of Haitian men, all Black (there is some horrific history of genocide that has resulted in an extreme paucity of White people in Haiti), who will assert that they actually had sex with Judge Cohen during her frequent sex holidays to Haiti. There will be demands for DNA 🧬 fingerprinting tests. There will be demands for Judge Cohen’s mammograms and video of orthoscopic pelvic exams just to add to the humiliation.

The only good thing about the impending confirmation process is that it will be so demeaning and vicious that the liberals will alienate seeing voters.

  12. The more unglued they become, the nastier the get, the more Trump voters they will create. Amy has already been through the ringer in 2017 so they probably won’t rehash much.

    • You remember Kavanaugh?
The Dems on the committee must destroy Amy, by any means necessary.
      It’s how they roll.

And after the hearings are over, the Dems will come up with shocking new evidence, which the Dems deliberately withheld from the hearings, and demand we start the hearings all over again.

The only question is, what will the Republicans do about it this time?

      • “The only question is, what will the Republicans do about it this time?”

Laugh out loud as ACB is sworn in by John Roberts would be appropriate… 😉

  13. Somebody should tell Bill Maher that Catholics don’t speak in tongues. Neither do most Protestant denominations. Mainly it some Pentecostal groups that engage in the practice. The left has even less of a clue about religions than they do about guns.

  14. I don’t like Trump. With that being said, he has a habit of appointing conservative judges to the bench. I like conservative judges. So I’m voting team Trump
