At a press conference in Warsaw this morning, President Obama addressed the police shooting in Dallas. As you’d expect, the Commander-in-Chief expressed condolences for the families, families and colleagues of those killed and wounded. The President also praised the police generally and expressed support for the Black Lives protestors, while pointing out that “there is no possible justification for these attacks.”

Mr. Obama almost made it through the statement without mentioning gun control. But failed. At 3:10 in the above video, the President declares, “We also know that when people are armed with powerful weapons, unfortunately it makes attacks like these more deadly and more tragic and we’re going to have to consider those realities as well.” Yes, we are. 1. Gotta love how not even 24 hours ago he was shitting on cops and the legal system.

I’m personally waiting for the “the police should not have had to have dealt with criminals armed with weapons of war” line, while conveniently ignoring their race or religious/ideological values.

    • Yep. Even if they used scoped hunting rifles, he will claim that they were weapons of war, and they should be outlawed. It is too soon to know their motivations, but it is likely a BLM motivated crew. Regardless, the person to blame for this extreme divisiveness in America is Obama, his team of loyalists, and the entire progressive movement.

      • looking at the videos i can find it appears that at least on of the attackers was armed with a semi automatic rifle, and was a “person of color”. i look forward to watching the main stream media calling the attackers Caucasian African Americans or just flat out ignoring the race of the shooters because it doesn’t fit whatever narrative they want to force

    • The more hate and division that Obama sows will reap more opportunities for him to press gun control. He set the conditions of the murder of these police officers. It goes back to how he and Al Sharptons’ ilk responded to the Trayvon Martin case and others. The kind of incitement to violence he is sowing in minority communities won’t go away with gun control, hopefully he will not bring the horrific things happening into the middle east and Europe here.

    • I mean, at least one suspect is still alive, so maybe it’s not too late for a Beer Summit where he can sit down with the shooter and some of the surviving cops to come together and place blame where it really belongs: the inanimate objects that keep murdering people. And also, white culture and cops in general. And Donald Trump.

      • Damn, you beat me to it. You forgot to mention that the suspects could have been Obama’s sons….

  2. So, more sit-ins by the democrats?

What? No acknowledgement that his own rhetoric over the past 8 years has pretty much lead to what has happened?

    • That would require taking responsibility for his words and actions. We all know that will never happen.

    • Hey – that sit in was a passionate and inspiring symbol of hope! Sure, when Republicans sit around refusing to do their job we call it obstruction, but come on. Gun control.

    • I can’t help but think this is the goal. Instead of uniting the American people in these situations, he continues to further divide and enrage the populace. He’s either really f’ing stupid or really f’ing evil. I’m thinking the latter.

    • Yep, vintage Obama. The POTUS and his “Justice” Department have done just about all they possibly can to foment a race war in the USA. So, a couple of men act on Obama’s message. And, of course, it’s the fault of the NRA and republicans. Eight years ago it would have made my jaw drop. Now, almost anyone who follows politics could write his teleprompter scripts.

  3. Yup, the Thug Lives Matter terrorist organization dindo nuthin. I say it’s time to defend the CotUS against domestic enemies. I hear we have some spare water boards and golf cart batteries.

    • And not a single fact check on the whole “powerful AR” thing to date. Odd. Maybe it’s time to inundate politifact and factcheck.org with requests to explain how intermediate cartridges are more powerful than .3+ caliber hunting rounds.

      • Please no. My pocketbook can’t handle several purchases at once. I’ve got my FFL looking around for an AR and myself for an AK, I can’t afford to rush into a Ruger Precision and 03A3 as well.

    • “Of course he made mention of “being armed with powerful weapons.””

but no mention of them being peashooters compared to what his own posse have unrestrained access to.

  4. I am an officer and obviously have many friends who are as well. Many texts and phone calls have been exchanged between us since last night but not a single one mentioned the guns used or called for more gun control. We don’t want more gun control. If Obama waves our bloody shirt and claims that we do, I’m going to have a serious issue with that. The people behind the trigger are to blame, not the guns themselves.

    • Thank you for what you do as a PO. Stay safe because I am reading that there was incident this morning in Roswell, GA where some thugs opened fire on an officer on routine patrol.

    • ” I’m going to have a serious issue with that.”

      Fine.

What are you and your friends going to do about it?

Any chance of a group “Press Release” with 100/1000/10,000 signatures sent to as many news agencies (legacy and new) as possible? Specifically, send it to Brietbart, for example?

If the boys in blue feel the way you express, it won’t matter one whit unless and until that word gets out and people (aka “the masses”) hear that message.

      • Eh, forget all that.

Won’t make a difference. Put 100,000 signatures on it, no one cares.

Stop paying your union dues that go to funding Democratic campaigns. Put your money where your mouth is, so to speak.

Until that happens, there’s no reason to care.

        • Putting out some kind of formal statement endorsed by a LOT of cops (and shown to be so) would help inform “the public” that cops don’t support gun control or the way these incidents are publicized.

Your suggestions are spot on; no reason both our ideas can’t be done.

Improving the LE-Public relationship can’t hurt.

        • Flashhoverride-

There are no public service unions I my state, and as such there are no unions for me to pay dues to.

    • If? He already has.

Police organizations need to stand up against this. It’s 7 years of the most divisive national leadership in living memory that has gotten us to this point.

  5. Wow.

Mr. “You didn’t build that’ seems surprised at the result of what he built.

*You* built it, Obama. OWN it.

I hope Trump doesn’t botch his response to this, this is one tragedy he could exploit to great political effect…

    • Gotta love the idiots who are still calling for an AR-15 (or “Assault Weapon”) ban saying that even the cops were outgunned by these “Assault Rifles.” I guess they conveniently ignore the fact that the police were just as well armed as people who did this, if not better armed.

Only reason the police got butchered last night is because these animals set up a textbook ambush that surely took weeks of planning and followed up their surprise assault with overwhelming violence while the cops were still trying to get their OPSEC established.

      • I was discussing this aspect with the bride this morning. The protest was only arranged a day or 2 ago, this attack would take far more time than that to set up. I suspect these guys (is it 4 now?) planned and arranged the attack for weeks, then just waited for a protest to carry it out. Their intent was to kill cops, and the subject of the protest was unimportant, any protest at that location would have police presence, and the killers probably already had their firing positions picked out and field of fire assigned.

Obama is an articulate and personable simpleton. If he were white he would not have graduated high school. But, several times now, I have seen and heard him work his way right up to the solution of all these blacks killing all these blacks. Wouldn’t you just love to see him propose that black people not be allowed guns? Suddenly millions upon millions of people would see who he really is, a racist idiot.

        • Hasty ambushes don’t take that much time to plan, and most cops are civilians who couldn’t tell the difference between KOCOA and hot chocolate.

There’s a good chance that these are veterans, or at least one of them is.

      • Weeks of planning? I wouldn’t think so. As others have stated, the protest was just planned a day or two ago. You know the location, select a high platform, grab a rifle with a bunch of loaded magazines, what evidence is there of weeks of planning?

  6. I know that this is a gun blog but the take away from the President’s statement is that he supports a black gang front that attacked the police and all means of resisting these gangs should be outlawed. His objective is not gun control, but putting the gangs in control of the streets. Gun control is just a means to achieve this end.

    • Politicians like it when criminals/gangs degrade society because that means that there are more problems for which politicians claim to have fixes.

    • Well thank-you.

I guess it was about 25 years ago that I mentioned to a friend that gangs were an army being organized and trained for some kind of uprising or other.

They are used to violence, have some sense of working as teams, have an organizational structure and…it would surely seem…political support.

  7. “… there is no possible justification for these attacks.” — Obummer

Sure there is: using them as an excuse to advance civilian disarmament.

  8. Democrats STILL cannot understand with their tiny little brains that criminals care not one iota about gun laws. They will get a gun to commit evil and wreak havoc no matter what law stands in their way.
Better to repeal gun laws instead of tying the hands of the law abiding.

  9. Next question, since this is Dallas: Were they members of the Huey P Newton Gun Club?
(that’s a question, not an accusation)

  10. I wish we had reasonable jackass control, starting with the POS (no, I DON’T think I’m missing the “TU”).

  11. What an awful person. On a deep and human level you, President Obama, are a terrible person. The bodies aren’t even room temperature yet and you are politicizing this tragedy. Shame on you. You are a disgraceful excuse for a human being.

On the day of your judgment, and you stand before God, how are you going to explain this?

  12. We hate you and the gun did it. Not black men shooting the gun. Bury Soetoro is making me buy an AR-and I have nowhere to shoot it. SHTF time has arrived…

  13. This took major planning even before this protest was planned. The shooters expected protests to the LA and MN shootings by police officers and used them. It sounds a LOT like tactics used by Lenin, Stalin, etc, in order to get things started. Just like protests where most are peaceful but “instigators” start throwing Molotov cocktails from behind the peaceful demonstrators. And isn’t it coincidental how this happened just in time to distract the news media and others from the decision not to prosecute Hillary even though she lied under oath numerous times and placed classified material at risk of release to our enemies. All they are talking about today is Dallas and Hillary goes right on pushing to destroy the Constitution.

    • I don’t know how much (or little) planning went into it, but I can see others watching the police reaction and planning the same in the future.

  14. I’m starting to think that if Obama got heartburn from putting too much Tabasco on his scrambled eggs he would call for gun control to address “this pressing national problem”…..

  15. “President Obama calls for even more gun control, again, still.”

There’s a surprise. As predictable as a broken record.
