Massachusetts is out with guidelines for law enforcement agencies that will be responsible for implementing the state’s “assault weapons ban” announced yesterday by Attorney General Maura Healey. Key among the criteria for deciding which guns are now verboten are these standards:

Similarity Test: A weapon is a Copy or Duplicate if its internal functional components are substantially similar in construction and configuration to those of an Enumerated Weapon. Under this test, a weapon is a Copy or Duplicate, for example, if the operating system and firing mechanism of the weapon are based on or otherwise substantially similar to one of the Enumerated Weapons.

Interchangeability Test: A weapon is a Copy or Duplicate if it has a receiver that is the same as or interchangeable with the receiver of an Enumerated Weapon. A receiver will be treated as the same as or interchangeable with the receiver on an Enumerated Weapon if it includes or accepts two or more operating components that are the same as or interchangeable with those of an Enumerated Weapon. Such operating components may include, but are not limited to: 1) the trigger assembly; 2) the bolt carrier or bolt carrier group; 3) the charging handle; 4) the extractor or extractor assembly; or 5) the magazine port.

And what are the Bay State’s ‘enumerated weapons’? Read the document in its entirety here.

  1. The line about “such operating components may include but are not limited to” gives them a catch all to say just about anything is included.
That is some messed up law.

    • I think that’s the loophole to sue. They have to tell you what the list is. They can’t ‘make it up as they go’.

      • They sure can. Just point to a changing website like NJ or CA that slowly squeezes the approved hardware out.

        • I don’t think NJ has changed its list since it was adopted. It’s just as dumb today as when first written. Cali, that’s another story.

        • If i ever leave here, remind me not to go there….. Eeks… I thought we had it bad.

      • Since when does the Attorney General of any of the 57 states (state count according to Barack Obama in 2008) have the power to MAKE LAW?

        • that happened as soon as the people decided to “give up there security for a little bit of safety”.

I think I heard something about that being a bad idea somewhere.

        • when the legislature of said state hands them the power. which they did. like fucking morons.

    • Tom the worst part is that it is NOT law!!! This was not passed by the legislature. It is enforcement guidelines handed out by the Attorney general based on her interpretation of an 18 year old law after she hadnt interpreted it that way for years.

      • That Guy. If that is true Mass is even more screwed up then I originally thought. Can it be enforced as law?

        • We are all arguing that it shouldn’t be. We would say that she IS creating law by her newfound “interpretation” especially by creating new arbitrary dates that are not in the original law. The problem is she sent all the gun stores these enforcement letters and put out in a press conference so it would be up to the stores to ignore it and hope for no repercussions. Today governor Charlie Baker came out in support of this and said enforcing the law is the job of the AG and she was within her responsibilities to do this. This shouldn’t stand up to scrutiny but who wants to be the trial case?? We have all been calling the legislature and appealing to their sense of power that she is doing their job of creating law. This seems to have a better chance then arguing guns because in Mass most don’t really care about guns but they sure care about power….

    • Sounds unconstitutionally broad and/or vague. I think even liberal loony 1st Circuit could rule some of this as insane but won’t count on it.

      • Massachusetts’ State Constitution on RTKBA”

Massachusetts: The people have a right to keep and to bear arms for the common defence. And as, in time of peace, armies are dangerous to liberty, they ought not to be maintained without the consent of the legislature; and the military power shall always be held in an exact subordination to the civil authority, and be governed by it. Pt. 1, art. 17 (enacted 1780).

[Interpreted as collective right only, Commonwealth v. Davis, 343 N.E.2d 847 (Mass. 1976).]

    • That is what the courts call “constitutionally vague”, and is not permissive under the constitution. They need to clearly outline what’s banned and what isn’t. A “we can determin if it’s legal later” clause isn’t allowed, because then the citizens do not know if they are breaking the laws or not if it can be determined at a later date. That’s not how laws work…

  2. You would think one of the last places to give up freedoms would be from an area where freedom got its beginning.
    Long live the queen Massachusetts…..

    • That reminds me, I was thinking we should use the Sex Pistols’ “God Save the Queen” as an anti-Hillary song.

    • There is always a group of people that just like to figuratively stick their finger in others eyes. The atheists these days are those people. They try to be overarchingly obnoxious, just like the way they claim religious groups are.

      • It would, ahem, take one to know one.

        Na nana boo boo
        I’m rubber, you’re glue
        Whatever you say
        Bounces off of me
        And sticks to you

        Lol. I need my meds

    • Or anywhere in any number for that matter…rifles are used in a tiny subset of gun crime, and magazine fed semiautos are an even smaller subset of that.

      • And it’s safe to assume that these two instances are a minute fraction of the total firearms-related homicides in the state. This directive was not about reducing violent crime or protecting police officers. It was all about politics and optics. Clearly, the Democrat Attorney General has political ambitions. She can now go to the uninformed and left-leaning voters and say, “Look at me. I did something to make you and your family safer.I did away with those evil black rifles.” And, many will believe her lie and cheer her attack on personal liberty.

        • According to the FBI about 250 people are killed with all rifles each year. Which is less then shotguns, less then feet and fists and less then clubs. Handguns account for over 8,000 of the 11,000 ish gun homicides a year. And my guess they are mostly cheap old revolvers that drugies use.

        • Something like 90% of murders in the US are over drugs and drug-dealing territory. Also, old Tauruses, Weyrauchs, Rohms, and other junky .22, .32, and .38 revolvers that used to be criminal favorites have been superseded by Hi-Points and more recently produced junky .22, .25, .32, and .380 automatics. Rappers like to rhyme about Glawk Foties, but in reality unless they have a lot more cash and connections than the average dealer, they probably are stuck with a Hi-Point .380 or 9.

    • The MA AG is gay, not that there’s anything wrong with that. That would have a lot to do with her motivation. She also wants to run against Charlie Baker, the Republican Governor, who is pretty liberal. Wags in Massachusetts call him “tall Deval” after the diminutive Democratic, liberal ex-Governor. Charlie is 6.6, Deval was 5.6.
This state is a liberal swamp. We’ve got an over abundance of Welfare recipients, SSI supplicants and plain liberal dipshits who can’t see that they’re getting played every election.

      • No! We call him RINO Governor. Charlie ” The Barker ” Baker ! Just another Liberal working through the RepubliCONS. Just warming the governor’s chair for the DemoCRAPS! Also, remember all Massachusetts local/state police have absolute control over a US citizens /residents 2nd amendment *privilege *. With safety courses, local police applications by appointment , interviews *(without an attorney present )* with a local police departments licensing officer, BS statist bureaucracy, infringements!

    • Crime has NOTHING, NADA, ZERO, ZILCH, to do with this. She knows these guns are rarely, if ever used in crime. She knows that it will have no effect on crime. That is not the point. The point is that this bans semi-auto firearms statewide, with no need to deal with the legislature or the governor, ALL of whom are bleating sheep or mewling quims who will meekly stand idly by. Actaully, most, if not all of them, are cheering this move. She also knows that she holds the threat of prosecution over anyone who has bought one of these rifles since ’98, since her decree is retroactive. She did this because she, like all the anti-gunners, hate us for owning guns, and wants do do anything she can to disarm and control us. She and her ilk are vile vermin, and there are those like her in EVERY SINGLE STATE!

  3. So by this idiotic logic, I could get a MA compliant Tavor, MCX, ACR, Vz58, Robarms XCR, and any number of other guns.

    • Just from the article, the MCX may not be safe since it does share commonality with the ar fcg, and the AR can also accept an MCX upper (if that means anything with regards to the awb)

      • You know, after a certain point, complexity is fraud. I know guns, and I’m completely baffled about where the line between legal and illegal is. Which I think is the whole idea behind this travesty.

        • “It will be of little avail to the people, that the laws are made by men of their own choice, if the laws be so voluminous that they cannot be read, or so incoherent that they cannot be understood; if they be repealed or revised before they are promulgated, or undergo such incessant changes that no man, who knows what the law is to-day, can guess what it will be to-morrow. Law is defined to be a rule of action; but how can that be a rule, which is little known, and less fixed?”

          — Alexander Hamilton (writing as Publius) in Federalist No. 62

      • The MCX is a gas piston driven rotating bolt semi-automatic. it is “essentially the same operating system” Like the AK. Like the remington 7400. The Steyr is DI, correct? “essentially” an AR. See where this is going? Not an accident.

  4. It’s a Scary Movie parody!: ?

    Citizen: “What do you want?”

MA Gastapo: “I want to see what your insides look like!”

Citizen: “Turn in the manual to page 36…”

    • Yes. What is worse is she said all of us who have bought them in the last 18 years “legally” didn’t. God news though she is going to use her “discretion as a prosecutor” to not go after us if we purchased them before July 20, 2016 “at this time”. Then she proceed to immediately say she reserves the right to change her mind.

  5. Statistically speaking, black lives matter more to everybody else than they do to black people. So you are at least mostly correct.

    • Did you do your doctoral thesis on the mattering of black lives or are you basing this on something only an idiot would think is related?

      • Nope. Just looked at the numbers and did some first grade level math in my head. Blacks kill more blacks than all other people combined by a HUGE margin. Recalculate for total number, percentage, per capita . . . the disparity is shockingly one sided.

  6. Workarounds available in 3….2….1….

If I were a machinist, I could already dream up workarounds. Essentially, the parts from a MA legal firearm cannot be interchangeable with non-MA legal firearms. Extra groove/notch in a few spots, different threading, different width of the receiver ( 1-2mm should do the trick, right?). It only takes away some of the modularity, but the accessories can remain unchanged.

    • You might get past the interchangeability test with your idea, but not the similarity test. This is wickedly well done. They’re daring you to make something and test them. They have the big bucks.

      • Yeah, it seems they’ve cracked the code. If Hillary wins and gets a new federal ban based on this model, with an updated prohibited arms list, it would require developing a whole new rifle from scratch (lacking scary looking features, of course).

        • Even if Hillary wins, and they win EVERY senate seat up for grabs they still won’t have the votes. Hopefully the NRA is smart enough to focus on Congress, though, because I wouldn’t count on Trump winning, nor would I count on him to protect my rights if he did win.

        • Wait.

Did someone hijack Strych9’s username? Been posting here for a while and I thought he was pretty cool.

          This seems off to me.

        • @JR:

Yes, he hijacked my name. I suspect it’s the guy who was interested in the size of my penis on yesterday’s pocket dump. I never bothered to capitalize the s in my name.

        • Gotcha.

Didn’t even notice the “s” difference.

I missed the actual hullabaloo and next thing I saw was people calling out “Strych9.” Just making sure.

        • I’m not really sure what he/she/it thinks it’s accomplishing. Their writing style is totally different from mine, I don’t have a penchant for hit-and-run comments and I’m not big on the whole racial thing.

There really wasn’t a big dust up or anything. They just kept creating extremely long names that suggested sex acts with my mother and generally comported himself/herself as a jackass. The whole thing totaled maybe six or seven posts but the butthurt on his/her end was extreme.

I’ll keep doing what I do and they’ll keep failing at life.

        • @JR_in_NC & strych9: I edited his name with a tell-tale on his existing comments. The original comments from a consistent IP, and so does the impostor, so if he chooses to continue, he can lose ability to comment entirely.

        • Thanks, Matt! Now my question above makes me look like an idiot. 😉

I do that well enough on my own. I don’t need your help.

Seriously, though…good job. These kinds of drive-by trolls are so easy to spot it’s funny.

        • Matt, is this the same guy that’s been stalking me and formerwaterwalker? He’s past being obnoxious.

        • Honestly, I’m not sure. I think it’s a different guy. I don’t spend enough time here to notice all of them., I just happened across the comment where JR_in_NC asked about hijacking, so I went looking. It is, however, the same guy who comments with the really, really long usernames that involve sex with kids and stuff, and I deleted entire comment threads involving those names last night, because they had less than zero actual value.

It’s also the same guy that was sockpuppeting Geoff PR and writing under the name Today, having a conversation with himself above my comment here: https://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2016/07/daniel-zimmerman/blue-force-gear-quote-day-vote-haste-explain-leisure/#comment-2776868

    • African American is such a made up bullshit term. I only know one actual true genuine African American. He hails from south africa, drives a crane where I work and is white. I don’t know percentage of blacks in america are first generation immigrants from africa, but the number is small. very small. My ancestors immigrated here in the 1880s from poland. I am more polish American than a black whose ancestors were brought here at least before 1860, and most likely a century or more before that. I’m an american and so are the blacks. Let’s be rid of the ridiculous hyphenated PC moniker.

  7. What constitutes a banned pistol is pretty broad.

    (C) a semiautomatic pistol that has an ability to accept a detachable magazine and has at least 2 of—
    (i) an ammunition magazine that attaches to the pistol outside of the pistol grip;
    (ii) a threaded barrel capable of accepting a barrel extender, flash suppressor, forward handgrip, or silencer;
    (iii) a shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely encircles, the barrel and that permits the shooter to hold the firearm with the nontrigger hand without being burned;
(iv) a manufactured weight of 50 ounces or more when the pistol is unloaded; and
    (v) a semiautomatic version of an automatic firearm; and

No I did not cut anything out (v) ends in and so we can assume they will add additional restrictions.

    • That’s what it used to be in CT. Now it’s worse, because we’re down to 1 feature (though they deleted the 50 oz weight thing – yay DEagle!

      Effectively, threaded barrels are banned.

  8. The American Revolution started over less than this and in the same area. So where are the Patriots that are willing to tar and feather this woman and the politicians that empower her?

    • IMO it is coming soon

I predict this lady will get hunted down and shot like the little tyrant bitch she is.

    • Right now there is a some disconnected keyboard bloviating but no coordinated impetus to get this moving real fast.

  9. The irony that slaves were rounded up by black tribal kings and sold for a profit to sailors. Black Lives Matter should go to Africa and protest their ancestors…

  10. (iii) any weapon that has been rendered permanently inoperable or otherwise rendered permanently unable to be designated a semiautomatic assault weapon;

Pop the gas block off the AR, tac weld a shallow spot over the gas hole. Instantly legal for sale again.

Owner can purchase the AR completely legally as now it is a manual operating firearm. Purchaser of the firearm can procure a gas block and lightly file off the tac weld over the gas hole. Anyone asks – they purchased that firearm prior to 20 Jul 2016.

      • It passes all tests, because it is no longer defined as an “assault weapon.”

“Assault weapon” is defined as a:
semiautomatic assault weapon as defined in the federal Public Safety and Recreational
Firearms Use Protection Act, 18 U.S.C. section 921(a)(30) as appearing in such section
on September 13, 1994, and shall include, but not be limited to, any of the weapons, or
copies or duplicates of the weapons [emphasis added], of any caliber, known as:

        … [firearms listed here]

provided, however, that the term assault weapon shall not include:

        (ii) any weapon that is operated by manual bolt, pump, lever or slide action;
(iii) any weapon that has been rendered permanently inoperable or otherwise
rendered permanently unable to be designated a semiautomatic assault
        weapon;

        Welcome to your next “loophole.”

        http://www.mass.gov/ago/public-safety/assault-weapons-guidance.pdf

        • Or they can tack weld aluminum on the gas hole on the receiver. It’s better that way for accuracy and for easier drilling. Also, they can make no argument of interchangeability on a receiver that is not semi-automatic. It doesn’t fit the definition of “assault weapon” anymore either way.

        • 3 A weapon is not a Copy or Duplicate under this Guidance if it meets one or more of the exceptions ((i)-(vii))
contained in the statutory definition of Assault weapon in Section 121.

          Bam! Right here ^^

          Exceptions:
          (ii) any weapon that is operated by manual bolt, pump, lever or slide action;
(iii) any weapon that has been rendered permanently inoperable or otherwise
rendered permanently unable to be designated a semiautomatic assault
          weapon;

          http://www.mass.gov/ago/public-safety/assault-weapons-guidance.pdf

        • To add insult to injury, the dealer can throw in a gas tube, a gas block, a drill bit, etc.

      • To the ATF “welding” is permanent. That is why some firearms manufacturers weld the flash suppressor on to make a firearm 16″ long. Welding is permanent. But that doesn’t mean the buyer can’t do some “machining” or some filing with a cheap file, etc.

  11. So do black rifles, so I recommend them for protecting those black lives mentioned in your handle and your post. One can find lots of black accessories for those black rifles as well, such as black red dot sights, black scopes, black magazines and black angled foregrips. Black pistols might be in order as well.
You might be able to find some black ammunition for those black rifles, but I don’t know who sells any. Browning does sell 9mm pistol ammunition that is black.
    Any questions?

  12. Slavery was the best thing that ever happened to them, or at least to their descendants, anyway. Slavery is what got their genes out of Africa and into America, where the opportunities and outcomes are vastly superior than back in Africa. Back there, life would consist of poverty, pestilence, famine, and strife.

  13. Guess how many murders were commited with a semi automatic rifle in 2014 in massachusetts? Zero… Couldnt find stats for 2015, 16, but im sure its the same. Unbelievable. 3 were killed with fists and feet. 34 with cutting instruments. Ban body parts, and anything with a blade. Idiots.

  14. Time for an enterprising American manufacturer to modernize/sportsterize the SKS in a cost effective way. Would need to use the original magazine concept and I imagine a Monte Carlo stock. Delete bayonet. Option of rear leaf or peep sight. Side scope mount like AK. Obviously owners do this all the time but sounds like these should be produced in volume for NY and MA. Are SKS’s legal in CA if with hinged magazine?

    • Nope. The first 5 or so comments were BLM spam and replies. Two guys hit a couple of the threads hard. The mods got them removed fairly quickly. Not entirely sure why they left my reply and moved it to an original comment but at least the conversation had some content from that point on instead of just hashtag spam.

  15. “New England, you’re going back to Old England!”

    -Presidential nominee Duke Phillips’s Pledge

    • We don’t have it this bad here. Semiautomatic rifles with detachable box magazines are still legal, just no “military-style features” on them.

    • Yes it does! The definition of an up and coming statist Police-State. You can guarantee the “SWAT want-@ -be gyrenes” will attempt to enforce this vigorously! I also see issues ahead! To see MA. Pro2@ group….Goal.org

  16. @Strych……So which non-creator scientific implausability do you believe in?

    1) The world has always existed
    Or
    2) Something arose from nothing

    • The Creator argument can be said to be just as illogical though. If the universe, in all its complexity, needed a creator, then wouldn’t the Creator itself also have needed a creator? And so on? Why is it that this mode of thinking, i.e. that a creator must be required, is only applied to the universe, but not to the creator itself?

Also, just an FYI, science does not deal with how the universe was created; all the Big Bang theory says is that about 13.6 billion Earth years ago, the universe was in a very hot, compressed state, a form of singularity, from which it then suddenly expanded outward. Who or what put it there, science doesn’t address.

The creation of the Earth, and then of life, are all decently understood within the framework of the laws of the universe.

      • 1. Only “created things” need a Creator. God is not created, He is self-existing (one of the Hebrew names translates as “self-existent One”) so your ‘who created God’ argument is in the wrong forest.
        2. “science does not deal with how the universe was created” is a complete cop-out and you know it, since you immediately go on and describe “how”: “about 13.6 billion Earth years ago, the universe was in a very hot, compressed state, a form of singularity, from which it then suddenly expanded outward”
That is what we call a FAITH statement.
        3. Another Faith statement: “The creation of the Earth, and then of life, are all decently understood within the framework of the laws of the universe.”
Which laws allow Creation ex nihilo? I believe that is GOD’s law. And yes, I have faith in God. Why don’t you admit your FAITH is in ‘science’ and it is not religion vs. science- it is religion vs. religion. God bless you!

        • 1. Only “created things” need a Creator. God is not created, He is self-existing (one of the Hebrew names translates as “self-existent One”) so your ‘who created God’ argument is in the wrong forest.

Who or what says the universe was created? For all we know, prior to the Big Bang, the universe could have been a previous universe like it is today that was just contracting. By the logic you use with regards to a creator, one could just bypass it and say the universe always has existed. Both are intellectually lazy IMO.

No it isn’t. That is based off of observation and knowledge of physics. Things like the fact that the galaxies are continually flying away from one another, the fact that if you look into deep space and thus far back into time, the galaxies appear much closer together, the fact that there is cosmic background radiation which is likely the visible light from the Big Bang that has been stretched out over billions of years, etc…

          3. Another Faith statement: “The creation of the Earth, and then of life, are all decently understood within the framework of the laws of the universe.”
Which laws allow Creation ex nihilo? I believe that is GOD’s law. And yes, I have faith in God. Why don’t you admit your FAITH is in ‘science’ and it is not religion vs. science- it is religion vs. religion. God bless you

No, it is religion versus science. Science goes by observation and from the standpoint of, “Here are the facts. What conclusions can we draw from them?” Religion goes by the standard of, “Here are the conclusions. What facts are there to support them?”

Regarding, “What laws allow creation?” the laws of mathematics—>physics—>chemistry—>biology

  17. When was the last time a crime was committed with a rifle with an attached below? Has it happened in the last 100 years?

  18. She ‘outlawed’ a lot of bolt action rifles with the made up piece of crap.
It is effectively a ban on all semi-automatic rifles.

    • That’s the point, I assume. They probably determined they couldn’t refer to the magazine itself as a component so chose the port instead to ensure anything that can accept an AR or AK magazine is banned.

  19. Another reason I will never move to, spend money on or pay taxes in MA. They just outlawed 20 guns in my safe and I am not giving them up.

God bless Texas, freedom and liberty.

May the chains of tyranny, oppression, debt and perversion weight lightly upon the citizens of Massachusetts.

As to her comments about these guns no belonging in citizens hands, does that mean she believes they belong in government hands? After all, governments have a worse track record of killing people than anyone else. I truly am beginning to believe Democrats are planning the “final solution” and would be fine with government killing people they politically disagree with.

My disdain of Democrats grows by the day.

  20. Looks like firearms based on the operating concept of a Garand will be A-ok. I kinda want to see an amalgamation of Garand and Scary Black Rifle.

    • Wait…I don’t think so. You see, there will have to be a firing pin. And THAT would make it similar to anything they want. I hope the idiots here in Sacramento don’t try to implement this lunacy. Oh, wait they already are!

  21. Where are the 2a lawyers? Shouldn’t someone be trying to get this BS revoked as unconstitutional or something?

    • Unfortunately, most lower courts would probably uphold it because they are anti-gun. And one can FORGET IT with regards to the Massachusetts Supreme Court striking it down. This is a court that upheld a ban on tasers!

    • Ralph was on another threat recently and broke down some of the precedence – notably Heller – and didn’t seem to feel this will stand. My assumption is that legal challenges are being assembled now, and that ultimately this will not stand. Unfortunately, it will infringe on the rights of gun owners, save zero lives, cost the state millions and, perhaps worst of all, give Maura Healey’s idiot, ignorant supporters “success” to rabble blindly about for years to come.

  22. I’m no expert on Massachusetts law, but I belive Maura Healey’s opinion is just as relevant as some other lawyer’s opinion. If they arrest someone, a prosecutor will need to prove in a court of law that a law was broken.

It’s becoming more and more apparent that this sort of tyranny can only be stopped by s Supreme Court stacked with Justices who actually understand the Constitution.

So… to all you Trump haters out there who can’t bring yourselves to vote for him, ask yourself who you want nominating Justices for the next eight years.

  23. Legal argument? Doxxing? Anon, really?

What is the point in us making rational arguments? Our problem, we aren’t batshit insane enough like them to actually go to someone’s home in the middle of the night and have a love in. Making them ‘fear for their lives’ to the point that we get shot, probably by these people with no one turning an eye.

Should we mail bomb them, which is different in America as we did in South Africa; you attack with copious amounts of physical letter and are labelled extremists and domestic terrorists.

We can’t win by being rational and we refuse to try at being irrational. Why? Because being crazy is nuts.

    They are nuts!

    • Legal argument? Doxxing? Anon, really?

      Yup. I went there.

What is the point in us making rational arguments?

That’s a good question. They don’t seem to be working are they? It’s hard to debate people that simply aren’t rational and are culture despising, controlling individuals.

Government is supposed to fear the people.

“Some are whigs, liberals, democrats, call them what you please. Others are tories, serviles, aristocrats, &c. The latter fear the people, and wish to transfer all power to the higher classes of society; the former consider the people as the safest depository of power in the last resort; they cherish them therefore, and wish to leave in them all the powers to the exercise of which they are competent.” – Jefferson

      • Over the past 30 years gun laws in this country have been generally made far, far less restrictive. In 42 states, I believe. Every single accomplishment is the result of rationality and grassroots legislative efforts. Exactly none are the result of violence. Every time a gun law is defeated, it’s despite moronic, infantile keyboard revolutionaries bloviating from their mother’s basement like you.

Maura Healey loves people like you.

        • I’m sorry you got so upset blinky about me rocking the boat. But you’ll get over it. Maura loves people like you too. You’re always ready to bend over at a moments notice. But you said what she needed you to say. No matter what happens, the only resistance you’ll ever offer is a vote.

        • Yawn. You aren’t rocking anything, and you clearly have no idea how the world actually works.

    • “Man of peace” Mandela used real bombs and “necklaces”, sang “Shoot the Boer” and won the Nobel Peace Prize. However, leftists say everyone who condemn his actions is a “racist bigot”. Leftists say their actions are “justice” and criticism of their actions is a “hate speech”, if not high treason.
It seems there are only two ways: either rational, non-violent civil disobedience or ruthless, violent resistance. I’m not saying we should break the law and kill people, but violence and revolts were always used as tools to gain power and control. It’s just more acceptable for the left to use violence.

  24. Massachusetts will now outlaw personal automobiles as they are “copys” of off-road race vehicles and only professionals should be allowed that much power, and definitely not on the public streets. Instead, anyone who would like to travel can take any of 2 or 3 forms of public transportation which is arguably safer than personal vehicles.

  25. Do people who make weapon laws realize that literally anything can be used as an “assault weapon”? Fists and feet are usually used in assaults. Should the government turn the entire nation into amputees in the name of “safety” and “common good”?
AR-15 and M16 rifles were designed to defend yourself, your family, your property and your country, not to scare Democrats, liberals, leftists, social “justice” activists and hoplophobes.
The best way to stop criminals is to shoot them.

“The key fallacy of so called gun control laws is that such laws do not in fact control guns. They simply disarm law abiding citizens, while people bent on violence find firearms readily available.” — Thomas Sowell.

  26. The first point seems entirely objective, no? “substantially similar in construction”…who, exactly, makes that decision? To even a fair portion of folks that are FA owners, a VZ58 and AK variant would appear substantially similar… remember, a lot of FA owners are NOT familiar with what folks who frequen these board may be. Frankly, most pistol-only, shotgun-only, or bolt-gun-only owners would be pressed to tell significant difference, even with both the VZ58 and AK variant field-stripped.

As to the second point, would using an AR receiver extension (aka ‘buffer tube’) and M4 stock constitute ‘two more items’? If so that is going to affect a whole lot of folks that put AR stock conversion on their pump shotties, 10/22s, ect.

Finally, how is it that the AG can mandate this legal change without legislation? Their law already says what features constitute and ‘assault rifle’ in their parlance. Adding to and strengthening the law by adding further restrictions doesn’t seem like some the AG has the power to do. That is for the legislature. Or is MA law such that an AG can just start adding stuff to existing laws?

    • You issue edicts to small time merchants who just want to make a living. You tell them that if they violate this edict they’re going to be in the shit. The little guy doesn’t want the trouble nor has the resources if they wanted to fight it. Typical legal world, bully boy SOP.

  27. As I read it, if IWI made a Tavor with a nonthreaded/non-flash-hider barrel, it’d be legal in MA.

Anyone wondering if the magazine is going to be considered a “similar” working part of the firearm? That’d take an awful lot of things off the market pretty much immediately, given that between AK and STANAG compatible magazines, you’ve just covered 90%+ of the market.

    H&K roller-delayed weapons aren’t on the list…

  28. Unless I’m missing something that pretty much covers almost all semi-automatics except for a few .22s that are blowback designs.

And who says they’re not coming for your guns???

  29. Yeah, that’s a big f*cking help. Make her job much, much easier. Every time some shrill gun grabber starts shrieking about crazy gun owners, you lunatics pop up obediently like psychotic wackamoles.

    Idiots.

    • You’re an idiot blinky, because you grovel and beg for rights and whine about not rocking the boat because your masters might get upset and take more from you. But you showed up right when they needed you and obediently. Good job.

      • Nope, I actually dedicate time and money to the actual cause of gun rights. You post inflammatory bullsh*t on the internet between frantic masturbation sessions in some damp, dim basement somewhere. You can parrot all the Alex Jonesisms you want, it doesn’t change the pathetic nobody you are, or the potential damage you do to a movement you’re ostensibly passionate about.

      • All from a guy who begs for rights between .gov bend over sessions like some masochistic leather and lace psycho waiting for another gratifying beating while trying to slip in a voting card. And “I’M” an nobody. What a laugh. Thanks.

  30. Bottom line, if you are a gun owner, accept the fact the government IS out to get you. DOES want your guns. and that in a not too distant future, you WILL be the felon on the flyer in the post office.

  31. 80% receiver? Check. Drill press? Check. X-Y table? Check. AR15/M-4 parts kit? Check. Repeat as needed! AR15/M-4 problem solved!
