“Two students and a teacher were wounded in a shooting Wednesday at a South Carolina elementary school,” foxnews.com reports. “Anderson County deputies said a teenage suspect was taken into custody after a shooting at Townville Elementary School, according to the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office.”

The AP reports that the victims were flown to a hospital; the students’ injuries don’t appear to be life-threatening. A teenage suspect is now in custody. The Oconee County Sheriff’s Office released this statement.

Deputies from the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office responded to provide assistance at the request of the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office in regards to an active shooter situation that occurred at Townville Elementary School in Anderson County.

The Sheriff’s Office received word of a reported active shooter at the school around 1:44pm this afternoon and immediately dispatched the first deputies to the scene as well as sending deputies to the area schools in Oconee County to ensure the safety of our students. A request was made until more information became known for the area schools in Oconee County to go into a code yellow which means instruction inside the school continues as usual but no one is allowed into the building. School dismissal will take place in Oconee County on the normal schedule.

Since that time, the Sheriff’s Office has been assisting the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office in regards to securing and clearing the school. The Sheriff’s Office SWAT unit and additional resources have been activated to assist.

Also, assets from Oconee County Emergency Services responded to the scene as well.

“I have spoken with Sheriff John Skipper in Anderson County and have offered to make available any resources and assistance from the Oconee County Sheriff’s Office that he needs as the investigation continues,” says Oconee County Sheriff Mike Crenshaw.

    • The stats used by Moms, Illegal Mayors, and the Trace for their ‘school’ shootings include areas ‘around’ schools, so this will add another talking point.

  1. How ironic. Right before going to this site I received a call from the principal of my granddaughter’s elementary school to tell me he had checked with the district and that they were ok with me concealed carrying on school grounds. I had asked him at open house as I didn’t see any signs, but wanted to be sure. Not every school district has their head up their A$$.

    • Yup, after Sandyhook several of my kids’ teachers were out at my range learning to shoot. They carry and nobody needs to know but them.

      • Sometimes is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission. It worked for that doctor in Penn when that psych patient opened fire in the hospital.

    • Count all of Iowa as having it’s collective head in deep……..My wife, a Teacher, doesn’t even dare carrying in her car to work. Can’t trust those 3-4 year olds to not break in and tool up.

  2. im wondering what will happen when the shooter turns out to be a black kid who targets white teachers and students. im sure BLM would come rushing to be his savior. oh yeah, i forgot, black people can’t be racist apparently.

    • Meh. It’s a huge country of roughly 320 million people in five time zones. Given enough media coverage, just about any type of event can seem frequent.

You’re right, though, perception matters. So guns will continue to be a front burner issue this election season.

  3. The media cartel needs to “erroneously and based on misinformation” that it was an ASSAULT RIFLE!
    I mean…that’s what they do don’t they?

Damn TTAG system wouldn’t allow me to edit my post in the allowed time. Sometimes this site SUCKS.

  4. Three wounded at a school?

You know whose fault this is? Gun owners. That guy that doesn’t even know that this school exists and may be unaware there was even a shooting. He lives out in the trees and bushes with the animals in a log cabin. This is his fault. He doesn’t “need” a hand gun. He doesn’t “need” a rifle with more than 10 rounds. This is his fault and we should legislate his ownership away and have him only use a muzzleloader – after registration and background check of course. Ex-felons in the forest don’t need to hunt.

  5. The other schools went to “code yellow”, which means that instruction continues but no one is allowed to enter the school.

And assuming an active shooter wanted to enter the school? How exactly were they planning to prevent that from happening before the “Good guys with guns” showed up?
