Multiple sources (including ABC) are reporting that there has been a shooting at the Empire State Building in New York City. Details are scarce, but we believe that ten people have been shot, of which five were killed. It is being reported that NYPD finally put the shooter down when returning fire. Witnesses reported seeing a “large” gun being used. So much for “gun free” New York City…
CNN is saying the shooter has been stopped by NYPD.
And is also reporting 10 victims, not 5.
This story has to be a lie. Guns are banned in NYC.

When Christopher Hitchens called the Virginia Tech shooting a non-story and compared it to a traffic accident I was a bit surprised. But really, random acts of insanity are just that. It’s already illegal to be walking around with a gun in NYC. It’s illegal to shoot and murder people there too.

With the way things are headed in NYC, I am terrified of but would not be surprised if Bloomberg finally snapped and decided to rip a page out of the history books. I could easily see him transcending all federal law and making possession of a firearm or even parts punishable by torture, heavy prison time, or execution as the Brits did in Ireland in the early 20th century. The man all ready flips congress and all of D.C the bird by running his own empire and basically appointing himself lifelong ruler of Manhattan.

why is it off topic? Bloomberg’s stop and frisk program would not have stopped this guy because his race would not have made him subject to it, which policy is the subject of a current civil rights litigation. Help me understand why this is off topic for stating facts.

For the official record: Officers responded to a reported disturbance. No arrests were made.

In New York, when in doubt, blame Virginia. Bloomberg is a tool. My deepest sympathy for the victims whose power to adequately defend themselves was verboten. May their families find peace and comfort soon.

CNN is reporting that the shooter used a shotgun. How do you miss a guy walking around in NYC with a shotgun? Perhaps it was a shotgun with an illegal barrel but how can that be since it’s against the law?

NBC New York is saying the only people shot were one co-worker of the gunman, who was fired yesterday, and the gunman himself. Looks like the other injuries are from people getting hurt in the panicked stampede of bystanders.

One hundred years ago in NYC if someone tried doing a public mass shooting a dozen gentlemen would pull pistols out from underneath their overcoats and shoot the attacker dead. End of story no legal headaches for any of the shooters.

Modern ‘enlightened and self-righteous’ society is losing the old ways, old common sense, and old wisdom accumulated over many centuries.
Under English Law as I understand it, where the gun grabbers want to take us, people cannot even use a weapon to defend themselves. The PC modern-day thinking British politicians ie fascists say using weapons against an attacker would be ‘uncivilized’. Therefore victims can’t by law use batons, swords, knives, or even replica guns. Victims have been prosecuted for using anything in their house to defend themselves. Burglars don’t care if people are home when they break in. No worries about guns or such. Go figure.
As I read the story this doesn’t count as a Mass Shooting like the Chicago Tribue is calling it “The Third Mass Shooting of the Summer”.
He went in after only one target. Whom he shot and killed successfully. The rest of the wounded were people caught in the gun fight between the shooter and the police. And some of the wounded were actually shot BY THE POLICE.
So this is a simple homicide, and not a Mass Shooting.
