Witnesses from the scene of the Dallas police massacre report that at least one of the killers wore body armor and used an AR-15-style rifle. Reacting to the incident, President Obama highlighted the “powerful weapons” involved, clearly signaling another full-court press against “assault weapons.” Given Republican control of Congress, this incident is unlikely to result in new federal gun control legislation renewing the ban on AR-style rifles.

Meanwhile, Dallas Police Chief David Brown has just revealed that one of the killers — who holed-up in a parking garage and blew himself up before he could be captured – told the police negotiator he was upset at white people and police. He also claimed that he was not affiliated with any groups; he did this alone.

The revelation — indicating that at least one of the shooters was black — will certainly stoke the fires of racial controversy. As horrible as this sounds, it could be a blessing in disguise. The resulting “debate” will at least deflect [some] attention away from the weapons used.

  1. Thank god the Texas legislature isn’t convening until January 2017. So things should calm down and we shouldn’t get many anti gun and body armor laws passed on purely emotional grounds.

    • And the guns which were used, the police, and society as a whole. Then, call for change which strips law abiding citizens of their rights, further neuters local police agencies, and emboldens more racists such as these shooters in Dallas..

  2. Cops getting killed at a black lives matter protest? Yeah, I don’t think this is the moment they’ve been looking for. Too many dems were stoking that fire.

  3. No dude. Even if the dems won back the house and every battleground seat in the senate they still wouldn’t have the support needed for a broad AWB.

  4. This has the earmarks of ending civilian access to firearms, everywhere. To blame a bunch of metal parts for the actions of the people who operated them is of course stupid and will not lead to stopping the shooting, removing ammunition access to our society will not stop the shooting, removing our right to keep and bear arms in the manner of our choosing will not stop the shooting. Republicans will face pressure from all sides now since this is about cops, and no politician will survive looking “weak” on gun control now.

Like Orlando there was early reports of multiple shooters, seeing the disgusting footage of the attack showed a killer who could move easily without getting spooked, he didn’t cower, he waited, once the police officer closed the distance he flanked him smoothly. This WILL be of course blamed on gun culture, does it ever stop?

It seems that the yolk my people are under here will soon be nationwide, this could lay the foundation for confiscation far easier then any other attack could. I worry greatly for the next permanent infringement, I worry for the rest of gun culture. What does tomorrow hold for us?

    • Unlike Orlando and other lone gunmen shootings it seems that the police have multiple people in custody.

    • “showed a killer who could move easily without getting spooked, he didn’t cower, he waited, once the police officer closed the distance he flanked him smoothly”

That video was pretty telling, these were trained people. That and they hit their targets – no civvies killed, the kill zone, multiple shooters, bomb threats to slow response. There was a lot of organization behind this.

I don’t know what to make of it.

      • Trained? Who knows. What I saw was a classic paint ball maneuver called bunkering, learnable and observable at every paintball field. Keeping calm under fire is another thing, but I don’t see anything special about that maneuver.

    • They’d better ramp up production of body bags then.

Any attempt at confiscation will be an incredibly bloody mess.

  5. When it inevitably comes out that the people who did this are either ISIS or BLM (because it is absolutely one of them), him and the rest of the snakes in the media and political establishment will try to once again say it was the fault of conservatives and the NRA, and that “Obviously” we need to ignore the Second Amendment and ban all guns that look scary; which is all of them as far as these tyrants/pansies are concerned.

  6. Stop thinking defensively about Second Amendment rights. This isn’t about AR-15s. It is about a Democratic Party supported gang front killing police. We have the Presidents own words to show his.

    • And Hillary is saying it’s ridiculous we can’t hold the gun industry responsible. Its like blaming the computer industry for national security issues when top secret information is passed through a private server.

  7. If the suspect was killed by a govt bomb, that the first time on our soil since waco. That’s just one step away from drone hell firing on u.s. soil. Not saying the guy didn’t have it coming….

        • Greg, there may be a misunderstanding here. My interpretation is that TDI asking how this is different from being shot by police is not a comparison of this massacre and individual cases of citizens being shot by police, as in LA or Minn., under whatever circumstances.

I think he’s just commenting on the use of a explosive-equipped robot to take out a suspect and the other poster’s concern that this portends future drone strikes on U.S. soil. Whether a suspect is killed by ground based robot or airborne drone, a suspect would be just as dead as he would be had an officer shot him directly with a firearm, is the point he was raising.

        • Thank you Jonathan. I thought my point was obvious. There seems to be this issue that some people with the use of drones instead of manned system to perform the act. Whenever I hear this nonsense I am reminded of a famous American General who once said:

“No Bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the other poor dumb bastard die for his.”

  8. Criminals will always have any type of weapon they choose. How do you Idiots keep thinking gun control will prevent that?

  9. Seems odd that someone with no affiliations did this/was this well prepared/had a second person there.

  10. Guys, I am not worried one bit about TX instituting its own AR ban. Greg Abbott is very pro-gun and the only thing gun related I see happening in TX is more people getting there carry permit. Yes CT, instituted its own AR ban after Newton, but that state is run by a bunch of Democrats and it was bound to happen anyway.

Not to mention Texas’s wide spread gun culture and conservatism.

  11. He also claimed that he was not affiliated with any groups; he did this alone. Which is patently untrue.

Why is this “patently” untrue? Need substantiating sources.

Anytime there is a mass shooting the press can simply say that the shooter was an NRA member and that his statement that he wasn’t affiliated with any groups can be called patently untrue. Need to keep this on the level with arguments backed by real sources.

  12. When the Democratic Party keeps its own modern day slaves uneducated, unemployed, incarcerated only to give them an outlet to vote once every 4 years these type of actions are almost understandable.
They blame everyone else but themselves. they don’t look In the mirror or care to see that the Democratic Party which is a religion for them is the cause of all their ills. The MSM is complicit and will protect the DNC and once again blame a gun or the NRA all to keep the light off the true problem.

    • They’ll get my Roomba when they pry it out from under my old couch in the den! Seriously, it’s wedged in there pretty good.

  13. There are two things the Democrat party needs to do before they can conquer this country with one party rule: They need to squash the 2nd amendment and nationalize the police. So, when they make these seemingly irrational arguments or take these unconstitutional actions, there is a reason.

    • Yep. Since they’ve already accomplished control of education, progressive taxation and own the media, that’s about all that remains.

See Chapter 2 of the Communist Manifesto.

  14. Did the perp blow himself up or did the police send in a robot to blow him up? The article says the former, the headline is the latter…

  15. Actually because this was private citizens specifically attacking the State, we might see movement towards gun control. It these kind of things politicians really worry about more so than acts of terror towards the public, like dead gays in a nightclub.

  16. Dallas police chief said, we sent in a bomb robot, that’s what killed him, he did not commit suicide….

I want specs on this new bomb robot weapon.

    • Coulda been a RC car packed with some C4 for all we know. (Remember Inspector Callahan in the Dead Pool?) Although I doubt it was anything so clever as that. But whatever it was it did the job.

      Tom

  17. I’m thinking Moose-lims. Brown moose-lims. These cowardly sniper murders scream terrorism. But of course the dumbocrats blame the gun…

  18. they sent in a ‘regular’ robot, whatever it is they normally use, with a hand grenade on it and detonated it near the shooter.

  19. Why always blame the weapon used? Always it is the AR-15, even if it wasn’t.
What if it was a Henry repeating rifle? Oh, that is another AR-15 according to the Left..
Until they show a picture of the rifle, don’t instantly assume it was an AR-15.

      • Saw that this morning on another site.
Maybe that’s why the Leftist Media went quiet about it, not the evil AR-15.

  20. What I find disturbing, beyond the planned carnage, is that this all distills down to a tactic. There is no vengence here, the recent shootings they were so aggrieved about happened in other states. Neither is an event such as this opportunistic, they had to have planned what they were going to do perhaps, probably even rehearsed it. It is a page out of Bolshevism 101, and the more innocent the victims the better as far as they are concerned. Who was it writing those big checks to BLM again? Funny thing in an election year, too.

  21. This was bound to happen, with Black leaders beating the mantra of Black victimhood, starting with Trayvon Martin, and aided by the sympathetic media. Now that their “revolution” has begun, look for them to extort HUGE sums of money from the gov’t to keep the masses calm….

  22. It was inevitable. People can only take so much before they start to push back. It’s about time the police suffered some losses. Not that it will change anything. Cowardly rednecks become cops so that they can continue to be the school yard bullies they’ve always been, only now get paid for it. Just listen to the minnesota cop sounding like a scared to death school girl. Of course the chicken shit police ended up sending in a robot after they got their asses kicked.

  23. re: the DPD’s use of a remote-controlled bomb to take out the shooter.

Consider that this is coming hot the tail of the Orlando situation, where the SWAT team there didn’t exactly cover themselves with glory with a three-hour standoff while more people died.

In light of that, I think the DPD made the correct call, which was “do we have the shooter contained? Does he have hostages with him? No, then we’re taking him out, now, before he can kill more people.”

Either way (bullets or bombs), the shooter was going to come out of this dead. That is a fact. There was not going to be any “arrest” of this shooter. I think the DPD used the tools at their disposal to effect as rapid an end to the situation as they could achieve without getting any more people injured or killed.

  24. Please retract this story. It has been reported the rifle used was a 70 year old designed SKS. Your entire story is thus, erroneous. Any loss of life is unacceptable, as are evil individuals that will use any tool to impart their will. Focus on the what drives these individuals and that will lead to peace; focus on the tool and you will only add another law evil needs to break in the commission of another atrocity.

  25. Please remove this article it is wrong and in the future ant-gun morons will Google Dallas shooting and see that you reported an AR15 used. It was an 1950s era wooden stock 10 shot piece of crap that was used

  26. I guess they are going to sue Russia for manufacturing the 75 year old antique SKS rifle. This goes to show that ANY semi automatic rifle, or weapon in the hands of a madman can be used to commit violence.

  27. Is this the latest CHANGE? A few hours ago it was an SKS, Maybe Johnny Fargo should just exercise some “Journalistic Restraint”

  28. Yeah, “thank goodness” people will get into racist arguments and not discuss your beloved AR-15.

    Sociopath.
