“There have been times when the CNN host Piers Morgan didn’t seem to like America very much,” David Carr at nytimes.com opines, “and American audiences have been more than willing to return the favor. Three years after taking over for Larry King, Mr. Morgan has seen the ratings for “Piers Morgan Live” hit some new lows, drawing a fraction of viewers compared with competitors at Fox News and MSNBC.” And so BOOM! He’s gone. From Piers Morgan Live anyway. “It’s been an unhappy collision between a British television personality who refuses to assimilate — the only football he cares about is round and his lectures on guns were rife with contempt — and a CNN audience that is intrinsically provincial. After all, the people who tune into a cable news network are, by their nature, deeply interested in America.” In other words, his incessant anti-gun views were unpopular. Who saw that coming? Why Piers Morgan of course . . .

“Look, I am a British guy debating American cultural issues, including guns, which has been very polarizing, and there is no doubt that there are many in the audience who are tired of me banging on about it,” he said. “That’s run its course and Jeff and I have been talking for some time about different ways of using me.”

I’m sure our readers would have some suggestions on that front. Unfortunately our new commenting policy prohibits ad hominem attacks. So I’ll just say this about that: Mr. Morgan’s greatest failure was his inability to understand that elitism is not popular on this side of the pond, no matter how self-righteous its proponent.

    • I know right?

Let’s see what to say that isn’t considered a flame:

You are the vapid product of a statist, anti-liberty system and therefore have no place in a free society. More than content with your programming and never once considering ideas other than your own, you are the embodiment of why we threw the English out in the first place; hubris, arrogance, elitism and hypocrisy. Go back to England where slaves are content to be as such. Never return. As you depart, know that your crusade to deprive Americans of their liberties has failed. You have achieved nothing. Have a nice day though.

      • Actually, his blatantly fabricated stories about “severe misconduct” by the British military and his connection to the phone hacking scandals that rocked the UK a few years ago have pretty much made him persona non grata in his own country.

That and Jeremy Clarkson might be upset at needing to break his knuckles again.

        • Oh, and don’t let the door hit you on the backside on the way out. FLAME DELETED. Or is that comment moderated?

      • The US Government is doing a fine job of depriving Americans of their liberties, and had been doing so long before Piers Morgan was on CNN.

        • Eh, sort of, the colonist advocated for rights under English law by petitioning their gov’t.

When that didn’t work, the colonies then declared their independence and fought to keep it.

I know it seems like splitting hairs, but it’s not, that’s why it’s called “the Revolution”, not the war for English rights.

    • Personally, I don’t blame Piers Morgan. He is who he is and he didn’t change just for the sake of the show. I blame the knuckleheads at CNN for thinking that this would work. Well, it didn’t. And, no one is surprised.

      • Well at least Piers didn’t artificially doctor and photoshop photos to make it appear that our soldiers were torturing and killing Iraqi civilians like he did to his own soldiers in England (which Piers never and refuses to apologize for, even though many British soldiers deaths and injuries were blamed on the story from the anger it caused amongst Iraqi’s and insurgents – even though of course the story was fabricated and doctored.

Add the phone hacking scandal which he was a huge part of, plus a load of other things as well. He left England because he was practically ran out of there. He burned every bridge there, the English hate him. I doubt he will go back. His low rated show and all of his BS are nothing compared to his troubles in England. He’ll stick around here until he’s burned every bridge here too. Then it’s off to Australia I guess.

  1. Good bye, see ya, laterz, don’t let the door hit you in the ass on the way out. Good riddance. I’m going to miss hating on you Piers!

      • Brits don’t want him back either. Probably will go to MSNBC, or to the other bogus network Fox News. Either will he’ll be surroiunded by fellow douchebags, whether they be lefty Chis Matthews or neocon wannabe pretty bor bitch Sean Vannity

        • Believe me. FOX News would not take him. Their motto “Fair and Balanced” also refers to not having news announcers who are mentally un-Balanced.

        • I see you fail to grasp the difference between Fox and Msnbc. MSNBC holds up Matthews as their prime news person. Fox makes no such claim with Hannity.

        • NO. He will declare his eternal love for Martin Bashir and the two will move together to an obscure subarctic island where they will eat bad food, drink overpiced bad wine and scheme about getting their revenge.

    • It does seem likely, doesn’t it?

“That’s run its course and Jeff and I have been talking for some time about different ways of using me.”

I did wonder if it was pure chance that (Jeff) Zucker rhymes with ….well….”lean over my desk and read your contract termination letter.”

I don’t know about you, but I miss the days that CNN was nothing but guys sending green video of campaign opening day from the moments’s war-torn hell-hole. You?

  2. finally we’ve got rid of that dime store rag writter! can I get an amen from all the positive law abiding gun owners in America and that’s right Pierce I said Americans! maybe Mr Pierce Morgan can get a job at like McDonalds or Burger King just remember this Pierce do you want fries with that? now if we can only clean up a little bit more this media liberal lefty travesty that’s going on every day on our news channels! the people have spoken and they’re sick of CNN having that ass clown of a newscaster that’s not even a American citizen makeup as he goes along what would be best for our country!

  3. I think I just mentioned something about Piers on this site the other day … he didn’t really have anything else going for him on his show other than promoting gun control.

When that lost steam and people got tired of listening to him drone on about it (not necessarily related items) – Boom!

Couldn’t have happened to a nicer guy. I wonder if he can collect unemployment in the US?

    • he already was working for obama. obama and the msm are related like mda and maig. obama would not be the president if the msm didn’t do everything they could to put him there.

  4. Ding Dong! The Witch is dead. Which old Witch? The Wicked Witch!
Ding Dong! The Wicked Witch is dead.
Wake up – sleepy head, rub your eyes, get out of bed.
Wake up, the Wicked Witch is dead. She’s gone where the goblins go,
Below – below – below. Yo-ho, let’s open up and sing and ring the bells out.
Ding Dong’ the merry-oh, sing it high, sing it low.
    Let them know
    The Wicked Witch is dead!

    • Since he goes to great lengths to expound about how he’s not a US citizen, he can go wherever else he pleases. Like Hexx. But he can’t stay here without a job.

  5. It is good that he is gone. However, don’t cheer too loudly until you see his replacement. This isn’t a sign that CNN’s I.Q has risen into triple digits. It’s only a sign that CNN’s income has fallen several digits.

  6. That’s fucking awesome. Consider that the guy admits to plummeting ratings. Maybe even the people watching CNN are not as hopeless as previously thought.

    • I wouldn’t be so sure. Dollars to donuts the falling ratings were those who weren’t completely hopeless leaving CNN for something actually worth watching.

      • Well…wouldn’t that be the same thing? If folks never tune in to CNN then my point stands. Whether it was Piers Morgan or the content of the network in general, tuning away means there must be still hope.

    • morgan is/was just a symptom of the CNN failure. Without clueless libtard advertising agents funneling piles of ad $ into CNN it would have folded long ago (see also MSNBC). Both totally irrelevant cesspools for many years.

  7. ” Jeff and I have been talking for some time about different ways of using me.”
Am I wrong to hope it involves Jeremy Clarkson? Seriously he’s the most interesting brittish tv thing since wallace and grommit. (Clarkson not morgan)

  8. About time.

Honestly, I find some of CNN’s shows (like Crossfire) to be thought provoking and I find much of Fox’s programming to be filled with smarmy people who are too sure of their own importance. I know I’m not supposed to say that… CNN does admittedly lean left more often that not. But still, I’m just as happy as the rest of ya’ to see Morgan seeking a new job. He’s hated us since he got here… so let’s ship him back across the Atlantic.

    • Exactly. Elitist. Limey wanker gits have no place on this side of the Pond. Get with the program or get back to where you came from. Ciao Dude.

  9. RF, now don’t ban me from any future commenting please …. BUT …. what if you were to offer Mr. Ignoramus an occasional blogger job here at TTAG? Serious. My dad used to say, you should always know where your enemies are. So if we know that he is going to show up here, occasionally, then we can keep a finger on the pulse of the anti’s so to say.

Just a thought …. now I’ll go back to watching the Olympic closing ceremony 🙂

    • All he would give us is a transcript of every show he ever did. They’re all the same. So what would he do for the second post? A copy of the first post. And so on to infinity…

    • I second the motion. We all know, as does PM, that the only reason he had any viewers at all is that enough gun owners were disgusted by him that they had to watch the train wreck while it happened. PM, being the media equivalent of an internet troll, kept on the issue of guns because it got people talking about his show. Let him pimp it here!

    • Tommy, the saying of the Medici was “If your enemy is ankle deep in water, offer him a hand. If he is neck deep in water, step on his head.” It is clear what action we should take in present circumstances.

  10. I am actually hoping now that with his new freedom from work (like ObamaCare liberates the masses and allows more time with the families), Piers gets to spend a little free time in the middle of the day without armed security and car service in NYC and gets to watch his wife, well, become popular with the locals. . . . .

  11. There’s nothing I can say about Morgan that won’t get deleted. There’s nothing I would want to say about Morgan that wouldn’t be delete worthy.

    • Those are my thoughts. I’m happy to see him fired. He’ll have to be smug in front of his own mirror instead of on CNN. That might be harder to do when unemployed.

  12. He promised us that if the big gun-control didn’t pass in the Senate, that he would go back to the UK. You didn’t go then, Piers. How about NOW?

Can they deport him, if he doesn’t have any means of support here (no job)?

    • Brilliant! As a dunk tank clown or pie in the face target at pro-gun venues Piers could make a fortune!

Is there any among us who wouldn’t pony up a few dollars for a good cause and the opportunity to dunk PM?

  13. I hope he keeps a job here in the US 🙂 (Yeah Right (sarc)), because if not I think deportation is in order. Doesn’t he have some legal issues in the UK.

    • The term you want isn’t ‘deportation’, it’s ‘extradition’.

Which I kinda figure might be part of the reason he’s here instead of there- if the Brits charge him over the cellphone thing, he’d basically get two chances at beating the rap- the extradition proceedings, and then the actual trial.

  14. See ya Piers!!! Hope you don’t have any trouble getting back to England!! I am sure you will be much happier there than you were here!! Sorry you couldn’t see us for the proud nation we were and will be again.

    • There are quite a few people in Jolly Old that would like to have a long talk with Mr. Morgan. I do not think he would be happier there.

  15. PM had John Lott on his show and treated him horribly, rudely and contemptuously…I hope Mr. Lott is drinking a tall, frosty Sam Adams Boston Lager to the welcome news this get has lost his show. As for PM’s future at CNN…I suggest Parking Lot Attendant, toilet scrubber, paperweight…but, I won’t be surprised if they put someone worse in that slot. PM is just a spot, CNN is the whole Leopard.

  16. I can’t listen to him for more than three minutes without wanting to say horrible things about him, his mother, and his entire family, country, belief system and way of life. So I’ll stop listening at about 2:30 with the assurance that Piers Morgan hasn’t changed.

Where’s Jeremy Clarkson when you need him?

  17. Don’t forget that he was hired BECAUSE he held the views he did and he could not be moved by facts and reason.
He bears the stamp of the network that hired him. CNN wants to take our rights if they can.
Be not surprised if Morgan’s replacement is as deaf to our unalienable rights as he was.

  18. Different way of using him? I’m thinking something in custodial services. Gun control issues were not what polarized viewers, but rather his anti-American rhetoric. I’m impressed that he managed to last this long. There may be hope for CNN yet.

  19. “Unfortunately our new commenting policy prohibit ad hominem attacks.”

There’s no argument being presented in this article, so argumentum ad hominem isn’t really possible. That said, could we maybe use him as a boat anchor?

  20. “…elitism is not popular on this side of the pond, no matter how self-righteous its proponent.”

Very prolific words that apply to our own home grown elitists. Americans will get tired of listening to them too. It will be just a matter of time. Come to think about it is hsppening through out the world like in Mexico and the Ukraine. That is why the elitists are working to disarm the world through the U.N. Here in America they are trying but even the states where they are requiring the honest citizens to turnnin their weapons is failing. The elitist are getting nervous and we will see more anti gun propaganda in the media.

  21. The Brits don’t want him back. He will probably end up at one of the bogus cable channels surrounded by other self absorbed dip sticks, whether the new co-worker be annoying lefty like Chris Matthews, or that nerve-racking wannabe pretty boy neocon cheerleader Sean Vannity

  22. I guess his next stop will be Australia.

He hates the US (and we’re happy to share his sentiment right back )and has burnt too many bridges in England.

  23. ” . . . Jeff and I have been talking for some time about different ways of using me.”

Perhaps as the midnight shift janitor? No, wait. That would be dissing the janitorial profession.

  24. Couldn’t he be turned into gun oil now? I can imagine someone saying “you know, my slide used to stick but after using piers it works beautifully, that sh!t sure is slippery”./// Next up, the david gregory stock refinishing kit, Larry P. eat your heart out./// Just kidding, no grabbers were harmed in the making of this post.

  25. The hits keep on coming! The 9th rules the 2nd exists outside the home, and CNN fires their America bashing cabana boy. I can only hope his visa gets pulled, he gets deported back to the UK, and goes to jail.

  26. Truth Justice and the AMERICAN WAY. Which is fail to make the coin your over the mortar tube. One down, two to go. Two senators in CA. If I wake up tomorrow and Diane’s dead, God revealed himself and I’ll find myself in a church.

  27. Not sure it’s good he is gone. While his pounding on gun control was over the top, it was over the top to even reasonable people.

It was easy for most to dismiss him.

We may end up with someone who wants “reasonable measures” and may be capable of swaying viewers, which Piers was not capable of doing.

    Just sayin’

  28. He’s got a horrible interview style. He never listens to the other person’s responses, he just continues his own line of questioning. Plus that time slot has been bleeding viewers for the last five years, even when Larry King was the host. The only reason CNN stuck with him for so long is that the people who hired him didn’t want to admit they made a huge mistake.

  29. No wonder Nancy Grace seemed so dismissive about him in that blurb from the other day; she probably knew about this already. Hopefully this’ll put Mr. Morgan on a slow, leaky boat back to England.

  30. He had to go. They will all distance from him, see Nancy Grace’s comments from yesterday. With all of the problems the left is having on other fronts right now they need guns to get out of the spot light. They now see that they awoke a sleeping dragon and with the mid term elections coming they need us to forget. They have lost the momentum from Newtown, and they need to move on, for now, and wait till after the elections, or another mass shooting. He would not let it go, and he inadvertently kept a large number focused on their gun rights. And he was so abrasive that he turned a lot of fence sitters against him, and in turn, them. He had to go. He wouldn’t follow the party talking points, when they switched off guns. Now they are praying that we forget everything they pulled, and don’t vote them out of their cushy high paying jobs. We have to stay focused and angry till November and beyond. They will be back, sooner rather than later.

  31. *hums last bars of the most popular birthday themed song in the world with TTAG in the name*

Oh me? No, I didn’t say anything. Piers who? Never heard of him.

    😉

  32. Maybe when folks stop watching the tonight show , since they replaced, (forced out ) , Jay Leno , with that idiot Jimmy Fallon , ole Pierce could get a job there at least we know where he comes from and we love to hate him , and that would make a lot of folks tune in just to give him a hard time . Be prepared and ready. Keep your powder dry.

  33. They got rid of one idiot leftist jerk, theres still Don Lemon, Wolf Biltzer, etc etc etc etc etc etc etc ad infinitum…

  34. Like OMG CNN lets a Tabloid Journalist get away from them ? Let us ALL hope this guy does not turn into a Whack-a -mole like so many of these idiots tend to do on CNN. Piers…. call Mr. Carey and share expenses moving out of our Gun loving Country… Please.

  35. I’m surprised it took this long. CNN has basically be subsidizing this clown at the expense of their ratings for quite some time — which certainly brings into question their real agenda (keeping on the air as long as they did) – and who they will be replacing him with (to continue the agenda?). His pompous anti-American snobbery was revolting frankly, and his ‘interview’ style was horrendous in any venue. And all of this with his previous history in Britain – which even though it wasn’t here, should certainly earn him the same disdain and shame here, for trying to slander his own military forces (that of our allies). If Mr. Organ doesn’t realize that he’s not welcome here already, I’m hoping this gives him the point – and he takes his carpet-bagging tom-foolery and peddles it elsewhere.

  36. Make no mistake, if PM had kept up the viewership that Larry King had three years ago, he’d STILL be on CNN. His ratings are what got him fired, nothing else. It’s all about the dollars and he was not delivering. CNN is anti-gun at their core. The moment they find someone else that can sell gun control and NOT lower their ratings, the game is back on.

  37. From what I read, most British guys would take exception to the fact that PM is excusing his behavior by the fact that he’s a British guy.

He is a tabloid news personality, plain and simple, he gets all riled up, plays like he’s some moral arbiter, and is really performing a freak show for his audience. Sure it sells, but it’s not journalism, it’s sensationalist media theater. The worst part is when these opinion personalities hide behind the once respectable title of “journalist”.

    -D

  38. “Intrinsically provincial,” eh? The New York Times just can’t manage not to be condescending. However, since it comes with the news that America’s airwaves are free of that bloviating Brit, I’ll forgive them for it (just this once).

I don’t have any illusions, though. Morgan is like journalistic herpes; he’ll be back before long. And even if he himself doesn’t come back, there’ll always be another pustulent scab waiting in the wings to annoy the body politic.

  39. NOW “Piers Morgan” IS MAKING GOOD ON HIS WORD that “IF GUNS AREN’T PASSED ,HE QUIT AND GO BACK TO ENGLAND”. WE JUST NEED TO CALL TO REMOTE AN ILLEGAL WITH INVALID WORK VISA HERE ILLEGALLY. HOPEFULLY HE STAYS PAST THE MAGIC DATE AND GETS JAIL TO PRISON AND THEN DEPORTED. (may justice be slow as shit and he get pink desert treatment in AZ) The whole immigrant experience in the USA. maybe then he might want rights and appropriateness level of respect. Sense he is know as a riot starter and trouble maker he should be on a no fly list and home by boat……

Sadly they fill his role with some who says and encourage more outrage to get rates and his tricks were tired and he was getting played by no buddies along with smart people.

So Piers Morgan you made a promise, as an Hones t English Gentlemen , Do you keep your word? If so, you are past do for presenting your ticket back to England. Where I hope the next street made gun bares you name as an identifier.

Surprised your stupid shit stayed for as long on the air as it did but the ratings of people looking for stuff to complain about on him, inadvertently helped him. That falls on gun owners highly for watching, taping, making clips with comments, each one put his face and showed how much air time and assosication he could cause. A black ice of non recognition might me good.Declare him a non gradus.
