According to various media reports, Ohio State University is dealing with an active shooter situation. As foxnews.com reports, “There was no immediate word on whether a shooting had taken place or if there were any injuries. The school’s newspaper, The Lantern, indicated in a tweet that someone was down. ‘There’s at least one body bag present in front of Koffolt Labs,” read the tweet. “OSU police still advising to take shelter. Situation not under control.'”

  1. So, in other words: there’s no news, and no real story. Don’t know if a shooting has actually taken place, or if there are any injuries. There may be a story, but the details are so sketchy that nothing can be known/confirmed.

Can we not do better than the MSM, who use such “breaking news” sensationalism to drum up emotional angst in order to drive their anti-gun agenda? This only serves to drive their narrative.

Maybe at least wait until there are actual details of an actual story, before “breaking” news?

  2. Koffolt Labs – that’s chemistry and chemical and biochem engineering. So, plausible either for a disgruntled grad student (rare but it does happen) or somebody looking to get some nasty stuff for other purposes.

    Sigh.

  3. We just heard from our son there and he is okay. I know the building, Watts Hall. Luckily he is in the library by the Med center. He has a CCW but does not carry on campus, against the law. This is his second active shooter situation at two different schools.

  4. May I be so impolite as to say, “Blah, blah, blah blah”?

ARMED STUDENTS TERMINATE GUNMAN TERRORIZING COLLEGE CAMPUS would be something to note. Otherwise….sos, sos, mots, mots yawn.

    • Nope. The “fight” part means throw erasers, pencils, shoes, sweatshirts (and such) at the shooter. The intent is to force the shooter to spend so much time dodging stuff that he/she cannot shoot or reload. Repeat until “saved” by the people who have no duty to protect you,

    • Run Hide Fight is the new “training mantra” but by fight they mean with improvised weapons. We recently had the same training that had those same words but it was all about improvised weapons like scissors and chairs. Since we’re a government office (carry is illegal) they even reminded us that if you have a CWP you can’t carry at work.

  5. I like how this never once happened at my university when I was there, or ever in the 40+ years it’s been open. Or ever in this city*. There are a lot of downsides to living in NC but I’m not worried about getting shot every time I go outside**. It’s a very pro-gun, well-armed place too***.

*statement does not apply to Fayetteville, Jacksonville, Charlotte, Raleigh, or Fair Bluff
**definitely does not apply to Charlotte
    ***except Raleigh and Chapel Hill

  6. Student reporting a vehicle deliberately drive into pedestrians – sounds like may be more than 1 person, aka coordinated. Makes me think this may be terrorism or terrorism inspired, either jihad or Black Lives Matter.

  7. Conflicting information. Reports of a car driven into a building then a man attacking with a knife. The most gunshots heard were 3 or 4, so how did 8-9 people get hurt? I am beginning to think this was a knifing attack that was stopped by police gunfire.
Who knows with all the MSM conflicting reports. Rediculous.
This would have probably ended sooner and with less loss of life if students/faculty could carry.

  8. Are the cops going to confront the attacker as soon as they get on scene, or are they just going to sit there and do nothing, as usual?

    • Based on the picture on the OSU Twitter feed, I believe the standing around protocol is being implemented, not the sit down protocol. Seriously, their stance seems non-indicative of an “active” shooter.

  9. Watching the live web feed on abc news. They have these cut sequences in between the coverage that are slide shows of gun shows and gun owners/activists with their doctored anti-gun statistics superimposed over them. It’s highly produced. Looks like someone spent a lot of time cooking this material up and was eagerly waiting a bloody backdrop carry it to your eyeballs.

  10. “Run. Hide. Fight.” While the SWAT and police spend 90 minutes in 45lbs of tactical gear and body armor determining if it’s safe enough to go inside.

  11. OSU has implemented the Run — Hide — Sh!t Your Pants — Die protocol. The Shoot the Bastard protocol only exists in select schools in Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Mississippi, Oregon, Texas, Utah and Wisconsin.

  12. Another sad reminder of why we need campus carry.
Adult students need a chance to defend themselves.
Any institution that accepts $1 of tax money should not deny the fundamental right of self defense.
