The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence has organized an affront of artists to create anti-gun agit-prop. Ironically enough, the poster above advocates gun violence—against gun owners. It’s also about the clearest endorsement for suicide I’ve seen. “I hate to hear the news, bad people go around shooting innocent people,” Indonesian artist artist Wedha Abdul Rasyid comments. “It is their right to suicide, but don’t kill others! That is the basic idea for this poster.” OK, then . . .

  1. Don’t do it. They’ll just use your firearm related suicide as proof that guns are dangerous and need to be outlawed for the safety of those considering suicide.

    Mental gymnastics. Fantastic.

  2. I don’t meddle in Indonesia’s internal affairs because I don’t know their history and the intricacies of the social structure, history, legal and justice systems.

I would appreciate then, that Wedha Abdul Rasyid ketp his/her nose in their own plate of boiled dog.

  3. Thats awesome! So “it is their right to suicide”? that cuts nearly 60% of gun deaths out of crime stats, making it nearly 150% more likely you will be struck by lightning twice before shot with a gun.

  4. What was the name of that 2 bit Journalism Professor that wants to join-up with some Private Military so that he can murder NRA members Slimer, Scammer?
Gee, now we know where he gets his talking points

  5. Those posters are repulsive. As I looked at some of them I shook my head at each one, along with thinking of ways I would change the poster to reflect reality.

      • I”m more worried about what he’s gonna do with that banana. Peel, eat, throw on floor. Bam, you got yourself a “Assault Banana.” How many innocent people need to suffer before we outlaw these dangerous weapons?

  6. From Jakarta, Indonesia, WTF, typical liberal maneuver looking outside for inside help. Better get her on Air Force One so she can come in and support the Obama administration agenda. It is not worth the paper it is painted on.

  7. So instead of encouraging them to seek out help for their problems they’re encouraging them to commit suicide?

Real responsible. What a lovely bunch of bitter, venomous inhuman scum the Brady group’s people are.

    • Problem? I own guns and I don’t have thoughts of shooting myself. Anyone else thinking that revolver might be cool to do some trick shots with a mirror?

  8. Sure looks like plagerism to me. I recall seeing the same “weapon” in a cartoon years ago. It was described as the latest sidearm of the Polish Army, or some other such Ethnic joke.

  9. Remind me, Wedha, how well civilian disarmament has gone over in Indonesia the last century?

Edit: posted before creator’s name and location were censored.

    • No, but sometimes we set ourselves up for a fall by wishing against all evidence that they are better than this. I’ll say this much: when it comes to disappointing, the Brady Campaign has never failed to disappoint.

  10. Every poster on that side is so facepalm worthy I might just have a concussion.

One of them just says gun control means “fewer” guns for the bad guys. Um, thanks I guess?

    • Yeah, I noticed that one too. Fewer guns for the bad guys, none at all for the good guys. *yay!*

Another facepalm poster is the one that says “What would he have done if he didn’t have a gun?” A stupid question, to which we already know the answer. He *didn’t* have one. Yet he found a way to get one…and all the unarmed good guys died.

What most of these posters show is that the anti-gun activists think all gun owners are already criminals –in their minds, we’re all just murderers who haven’t murdered yet. But they’re pacifists, so they can point metaphorical guns at anyone they want.

War is peace, peace is war. I wonder when they’re scheduling Hate Week…

  11. Freedom of speech: I’m happy the artists can exercise it. Freedom to ignore utter horsesh!t: I’m happy I can exercise it.

  12. Word to the Brady B@stards: Head shots are not always fatal. Sad but true.

In other news, Frank Lautenberg is still dead.

    • Yeah, it’s a good thing that Governor Christie will appoint a Democrat, Libertarian, or Republican replacement who is a staunch supporter of gun rights. Not going to happen you say? I can dream.

      • Gov. Kris Krispy Kreme made his bones as a gungrabber. I don’t think that this particular orca is going to change his spots. Hell, I’m not even sure he changes his socks, and neither is he.

  13. Simply from an artistic perspective some of those posters are impressive.

From the content, not a single one is worth the paper they are printed on and I can’t believe I wasted so much electricity pulling all those bits down to my machine.

My favorite (heavy sarcasm) is the one that indicates the Inventions of 1977. One of the bullet points is the NRA ‘created’ the individual Right of ownership. The artist is Cory Fisher who, in my opinion, can FOAD.

  14. Is it just me or are the Brady people just completely losing it? I can see a few foolish young kids desperate to join the cool kids club buying into this “campaign” but what working adult is going to see it much less be influenced by this except to shake their heads? Saw better art at my middle schoolers end of year open house btw.

    • Yep.

As someone who has read their pablum since the 80’s, yes, they’re losing it.

They have to recognize that, despite their rhetoric, their campaigning, their recruitment of grieving relatives/parents/spouses, dancing in the blood of victims and their fatuous logic that gun laws will reduce crime because criminals (ie, people who don’t obey laws) will choose to obey gun laws… they’re losing. They’re losing on the legislative field in DC, they’ve losing the opinion battle, they’re losing to a NRA that was barely 3 million members when they started that’s going over 5 million now. They’re losing on the numbers of guns sold, and the number of “really evil” guns sold.

They’re losing on the CCW issue – when I started paying attention to this issue in 1991 (or so), there was shall-issue CCW laws in a very few states, and they were still predicting streets running with blood in Florida. Today, we have four states in which you can buy a gun, load it, strap it under your shirt and walk out of the gunstore, no questions or permits required. In 1991, there was only Vermont. Not even in Wyoming, the most gun-owning state in the US, could you used to do that. Now you can.

I view the setbacks in “slave states” as temporary. For those who think that those laws are forever… I’m going to tell you to go look at the state of CCW in the early 90’s. Or I’m going to tell you to look at Chicago and Illinois, who would never have allowed ANY CCW legislation to pass, but for the courts.

Yes, the Brady people must be losing their minds. They probably thought that they could get their agenda rammed through this time, as they had a sufficiently tall pile of corpses on which to stand. They couldn’t even get it through the Democratic-controlled Senate, much less the House.

      • Weren’t they founded in the 80s, anyway? So they initially made some gains, but now not only have their gains been reversed, they’ve lost ground compared to when they started. Must be rough, having verifiably, publically, failed in your mission.

        • Founded in 1974 as the National Council to Control Handguns, later called Handgun Control, Inc. The Brady B@stards took it over in the 1980s and named it after themselves.

    • Not to piss off the Christians in the house, but as an indigenous revolutionary in the Middle East, clearly an AK-47

    • Im no where near the individual The Christ was. For example, I wasn’t a divinous birth, I didn’t have angels sermon to me, I don’t heal the sick or resurrect the dead, nor have I been resurrected… yet.

I did, however, inherit a Bill of Rights in a Country that was believed to have been founded through faith in God. And one of those Rights is my ability to keep and bear arms. So to do otherwise in the service of thisbcountry is, in my opinion, that which binds us to servitude of that other than free will.

  15. Next time someone says “no one is talking about taking anyone’s guns away” I’m going to forward them to this pile of posters.

  16. Being a little sun-burnt and not having shaved my knuckles this week, I’m terribly hurt and offended by this.
And my chiappa is upside-down, not backwards!

  17. i like the one that says ‘guns are stupid … in stupid hands’.
the implication that guns are ‘good in good hands’, or ‘bad in bad hands’ – these are tools.

  18. Wow, where to begin. The irony is so thick you could slice it with a knife. The gun grabbers claim to want to eliminate “gun violence”. And their answer is for someone (either government agents or armed citizens themselves) to use guns to kill armed citizens.

This clearly demonstrates the real desire of gun grabbers: if you are not one of them, they want you dead. I hope everyone realizes that gun grabbers want an entire class of people dead based solely on their identity. Newsflash people: every genocide, democide (or other ‘cide you can think of) in history is always based upon killing off an entire group of people based on their identity, not on their actions. And those morons keep asking why I want to be armed? And they keep accusing me of being “paranoid”?

Can you imagine the massive media response and public floggings if gun rights advocates started an advertising campaign to encourage civilian disarmament (gun control) proponents to kill themselves?

    • Those who can not stand guns, or the people who keep and bear them, are those that know, within their own hearts, the evil that dwells within them. This blocks their ability to comprehend others are not like they are in thought or understanding.

  19. Nice to see the Brady Campaign go completely bats4!t with these. These are going to resonate with fence sitters, yeah buddy! Win that war of hearts and minds…well, actually just hearts, no minds involved.

  20. The artists Brady poster speaks for itself and reveals the true nature of the grabber mentality.

Guess progressives aren’t so progressive, huh. Harkens back to the Bolsheviks.

  21. I went through the posters on that page. They are all “love” and “hugs” and “wouldn’t it be great if guns just went away”. Unfortunately if you try to Love and Hug a strung out druggie looking for his next score, or a violent psychopath intent on killing schoolkids that usually makes you the first corpse on the scene.

  22. I looked at their site. It made me physically ill. I attended art school for a semester (I misguidedly wanted to make movies ages ago) and quit after a semester due to the commie freaks that populated it.

By the way, Levi’s makes their jeans in Indonesia. I’ve happily moved on to purchasing Made-in-USA Round House brand.

    • Worse than that, Levis have done commercials likening themselves as the “jeans of the people” while depicting scenes of rioting communists. They can smoke a turd in hell as far as I’m concerned.

      • Is that what those commercials were about? I could never figure out just what they were trying to sell. (Assumed it was B-roll from How Green Was My Valley).I started wearing Wranglers (made in Mexico) between the stop gap. At least Wrangler wasn’t doing artsy BS commercials.

Granted, if Ruger put together a few B&W commercials of hipsters running through junkyards with a final shot of some pencil-neck shooting a 10/22 the MSM would have a field day.

  23. this shit looks like old soviet and/or nazi propaganda. demonizing gun owners? are we going to wrap police, military, and government into this demonization? and if suicide is a choice, why is it treated like a crime? it’s absurd enough that these people include suicide in thier “gun violence” statistics, now they portray it as a positive choice.. or crime?

  24. The Brady Campaign has never cared about preventing “gun violence”, they only want to prevent gun ownership.

  25. Man o man… There was a time I proudly considered myself a Progressive, but that was some time ago. I still consider myself a TRUE Progressive, meaning I always try to understand all points of view, I treat others with respect (even when I don’t think they deserve it), I think before I act…

Hell, Progressives ended child labor. Gave us workers’ rights. Weekends off work. Paid vacation and sick time. Teddy R, who considered himself a progressive, even gave us the national park system for our country to hold pristine America for future generations…

Now these people who call themselves Progressives sound more and more li hard-line Stalinists. WTF? Centralized, overwhelming control and the absolute elimination of anyone who doesn’t agree with them. Maybe I’m giving Joe Stalin a bad name – these Brady people act more like two-year olds.

Make no mistake – they don’t hate us because of our guns. They hate us because of our guts. We have taken personal responsibility for our safety, for our welfare, for our futures. We are a walking, talking denial of everything they hold dear, of everything they wish and pray for. Peace without sacrifice. Love without effort. Community without understanding and acceptance. So sad, really.

    • Superb quote right there, and cuts to the heart of the issue:

“Make no mistake – they don’t hate us because of our guns. They hate us because of our guts.”

  26. I’m not sure what’s dumber: this campaign, or the fact that Brady had nothing to do with this.

Wait, I’m sure: it’s definitely all the posters here freaking out about the brady campaign and “communists.”

    • True , I don’t see any mention of Brady anywhere other than on this page — where is the link to the Brady organization?

      • Pretty sure it just came from Nick, either because he’s gone over Cuckoo Falls, or because it’s easy to whip up conspiracy theory prone TTAG readers using catchphrases.

As best I can tell this is Van Jones’s outfit, and some artists based in SF.

    • So it’s not the Brady Campaign…and yet the hatred and the paradoxical obsession with violence remain.

All those posters make me glad of one thing, however — it’s a relief to know that none of these angry artists own guns, because they seem to me like the kind of people who really shouldn’t. And that’s the beauty of the Second Amendment: they don’t *have* to. Yet they all have the right, if they want to exercise it, even if the thought of some of these “go kill yourself” artists as gun owners is profoundly frightening.

  27. Those people really, really, really hate guns. I mean, they like cancer better than a firearm.

Plus, most of those are really childish, superficial arguments.

  28. To the intended persons this is a misnomer…

To actual people who commit crimes that account for over 2/3rds of homicides, with guns, I see this as a perfectly acceptable message.

That’s because it is not me, LOL!

    Nice try though… Dinks!

  29. At the head of all the ironies and total willful blindness to anything approaching logic or reason, there is this – they are advocating violence against the only people prepared to fight back.

We have guns and they don’t!

    • This, funny how those preaching peace are the first to call for violence. We are currently doing the best thing by letting them dig themselves a hole.

  30. On the bright side, at least they don’t mind that we’re keeping our guns.

On the dark side, the level of seething hatred these people allow to ooze out of their souls is telling. They actually advocate that human beings kill themselves. And then they tell us they’re The Nice People, so we should give them more power over our lives.

  31. Most know I’m pretty much never the coolest head in the house, and I don’t mince words. I freely admit my utter hatred for gun-grabbers and leftists to the point where I laugh and it brightens my day every time one dies. I truly believe they are sub-human defects of humanity, undeserving and unworthy of equal consideration. The dirt they step on is worth more than their lives.

However…I don’t get a gun-owner vibe from this poster. From the artist’s explanation, it seems like he (she?) is talking more about the mass-killers and murderers who use guns, that they should just suicide like they always do anyway and not kill others. Shrug.

As for the other posters, its the usual ravings of these sub-human beings and their pitiful intellects. It’s like a zoo. Just look at the animals and move on.

    • Something I well agree with if that is the case. I mean, the crazy f*ckers want to go out in a blaze of glory anyhow, so why not cut out the middleman and just eat a bullet?

Or better yet, how about do away with idiotic gun-free zones so a friendly neighborhood permit holder or security officer can provide the blaze of glory for them, free of charge?

  32. Damn, now I feel bad. If only I had brought more ammo I may have prevented these artists from eating so much lead paint. Mea Culpa.

  33. This poster only works for would be mass shooters. It is insane in any other context.
    Stupid, evil libtards.

  34. I can’t remember ever seeing a bigger collection of nonsense and studity. And as far danger level, this is a brain washing time bomb to gun rights. Short, concise messages with pictures that shut down the brain of unwary citizens. It needs an equal response from the community.

  35. The art is very inappropriate. But I do have to give some credit to the artist for blaming the killer, not the gun. You have to admit that is a bit of a breakthrough and somewhat refreshing given how often the gun as “evil object” is blamed. The artist clearly directs the message to killers, not gun owners in general, also, and that is another moment of clarity. But yeah, PR fail overall.

  36. Over 30 years, the Brady Campaign was known as Handgun Inc. They put out a report that “proved” that the #1 killer of children was handguns. There was only one major flaw. Their definition of a “child” was anyone 21 and under.

From that day onward, I stopped believing anything libtards say or publish. They use selective statistics, or, worse, they make them up.

Of course, the lame-stream media does not check these numbers because, as the NYT and the BBC proved about themselves, they are biased and they don’t care.

  37. Based on my hunting success last year, even if I tried to off myself with the pictured gun, I would probably miss that target too..
