There was a dog and pony show at the White House yesterday for anti-gun attorneys general to mug for the cameras and appear to be “doing something” about “gun violence.” From the Boston Globe’s fawning promo article: “’We strongly believe that investigation and analysis by national experts will assist our offices to to more effectively target our resources, advocacy, and enforcement.’ The letter is an act of political courage in an era when Second Amendment pride seems to have, at times, trumped common sense.” Really? Name one other issue of any significance that “national experts” have done anything to improve. While we’re on the subject of empty, meaningless gestures . . .

Shrine to Victims of Illegally Purchased Guns Pops Up in South Philly – “The innocent people that are being victimized are in need of healing, and reconciliation is needed between two opposing points of view,” said Genito, referring to those in favor of and opposed to gun control. That being said, the organizations do not aim to advocate for gun control, but instead to limit the sale of illegal guns. Additionally, they hope to educate citizens about methods to limit illegal gun sales. The Heeding God’s Call website lists 10 ways that gun dealers can assist in this, including videotaping sales and making sure that guns are securely stored.”

XS Sight Systems, Inc. Pulls Trigger on Expansion Plans – The Big Dot sight business is good. “Due to an increase in customer demand for its products and the need for additional operating space, XS Sight Systems has expanded into a new location. The company previously called its building co-owned with Horizon Tech home, but XS Sights will move its operations further down the road to 2401 Ludelle St., Fort Worth, Texas.”

Loretta Weinberg takes case for smart guns to White House – New Jersey’s doyenne of disarmament was at the Washington anti-gun confab yesterday, too. “At the conference, participants were told of the research being done on smart guns. ‘Star Wars is here,’ Weinberg said. ‘ There is no reason we can’t see this move forward, assuming the gun lobby gets out of the way.'” Or maybe Weinberg could repeal her ludicrous poison pill law that’s the single biggest obstacle to “smart gun” acceptance across the country.

The Z.E.U.S. full-body shooting jig. Is this the training model for the 21st century?

  1. I would like to apologize to the country for the stupidity of my own state’s attorney general from Massachusetts. You have my sincerest apology.

    • As an inmate in the same asylum, all I can say is that I’ve never voted for a Massachusetts Democrat and never will. They are all vermin.

    • Was California AG Kamala Harris there? Or was she too busy running to replace Barbara Boxer in the US Senate? And who is that guy in the back on the left, Alfalfa?

    • Those AG’s should spend more effort worrying about the invasion of the drug cartels and less time trying to disarm law abiding citizens. The entire US has already been carved up into cartel turfs and chaos looms as they develop their business and fight over boundaries and distribution.

      • Didn’t the lady from Colorado explain that sufficiently? As soon as they are empty they will have to be discarded and then the only new guns available will be the “Smart Guns”. (/sarc)

  2. Star Wars is here? Really? We can actually make blasters, lightsabers, light speed drives, and artificial gravity?

When did all this happen and why did the main stream media ignore and not report these wonderful technological accomplishment?

Rationalization can make people say the dumbest things. Stop watching TV and movies deary. They use the concept of suspended disbelief to make the physically impossible seem possible. It’s not real, it’s special effects and stunt coordination.

      • It’ll eventually be that progressives will expect you to just “use the Force” to defend yourself, and even that might be banned.

      • I hope you’re not in a state like California, you would be limited to a 3 inch energy beam and only be able to use it if you had a special tool to hold the button in the on position, and then only be able to use it for 7 seconds at a time, once a week, after paying an energy tax on it. Oh and if you use it without a blaster helmet and are caught it will be a fine of 1,000 Imperial credits.

  3. Are all “illegal” guns used to commit crimes or are they also used for defensive purposes by people who either cannot buy them from stores or would prefer not to be outed as having one.
Any firearm acquired privately is worth its weight in gold since it won’t be on the list when the blue helmets come to collect them.

  4. I imagine The Globe will change it’s mind about funding for gun violence studies when it’s announced there’s a massive correlation between being black and shooting someone without just cause.

    Just sayin’.

As for Loretta, adding batteries to a gun is a fool’s errand. When every LEO, security professional and person in the military is required to use them and has done so for ten years with no problems related to the tech, I’ll consider the option, laugh, and then not use it.

You wouldn’t think it was a good idea to add an electronic safety to a fire extinguisher, so why would you do it with a gun?

  5. So, would it be in bad taste to add to that “shrine” by hanging their gang colors on what I’m betting is upwards of 80% of those shirts?

  6. If smart gun technology was 100% reliable and effective, most folks would probably want it. Gun companies could use the benefits and safety to sell lots more guns and make lots of money.

In 100 years or so, when the technology has been fully perfected and proven, it will be great. Until then, it will be too dangerous to use.

    • If smart gun technology was 100% reliable and effective, the government wouldn’t be pushing it down our throats, they would be pushing a remote lock-out for said smart-guns.

The entire reason for foisting this on the public is that it doesn’t work, is not reliable, and is too expensive for the average person. Its not about making guns safer, its about making the availability of guns scarcer – the long game being disarmament.

  7. I am sure that Loretta Weinberg will convince BHO to have the Secret Service convert to only smart guns.

  8. Can someone explain the smartgun doomsday law thing I hear about, from New Jersey? I’m ratrher new to the world of the gun. Thanks.

    • In essence, if a smart gun is sold by a dealer, then all dealers will have to carry smart guns, or something very similar.

      • I believe it is more draconian than that – once a smart-gun is made available for sale, only smart-guns can be sold in the State (LEO excepted, of course).

        • That is it, exactly. Passed something like a decade ago, is easily the most open ended law I’ve ever seen.

  9. The customer service at XS Sights is top notch.

I’ve had two sights of theirs which needed replacement under their 10 year warranty. I emailed CS proof of purchase and the problem I was having, and I had new ones in the mail that day, no questioned asked.

And, it’s a Cowtown company, which I’m a fan of, I have lots of family roots in FW.

  10. Ok, this CDC research thing is a straw man. What really happened to the funding was explained here on TTAG but I cannot find it. Someone please refresh my leaky memory.

    • Basically they got caught using it as a form of propaganda so it’s not that gun research is illegal it’s that using it to push an agenda is.

  11. Loretta Weinberg is free to take her dremel n soldering iron n make all the “smart guns” she wants. And sell them to anybody who wants one. That is unless prohibited by the state n federal overlords she is lobbying, in this highly-regulated industry.

She seems to want somebody else to be forced to make these things that don’t exist yet, for sale to people forced to buy only them. That’s something different than what she said, I think.

Meanwhile, “the gun lobby”, meaning enthusiast membership organizations, are representing their millions of members’ preference not to be told what to do. By Overlord-wanna-be Weinberg. In their hobby which Overlord-wanna-be Weinberg does not share. Who’s scheme they think doesn’t work in the first place.

People who get to have some idea then demand that I Just Do It pay me. Overlord-wann-be Weinberg doesn’t seem to want to do that. Or convince people.

So, she’s off to lobby the Overlord club. “Here’s a thing to be more Overlord-y about, n I get to be sad little queen of this new sad little policy hill. Under you., of course. Everybody makes out. (Except those pesky people who actually do thisnstuff, but what do they matter?) Maybe we’ll even get some.of Bloomie’s Billions to split. Deal?”
