Fox News anchor Gretchen Carlson

“Do we need AR-15s to hunt and kill deer? Do we need them to protect our families? Yes, I’m in favor of people being able to carry. I think some of these mass shootings would have been less deadly if that were the case. But I’m also with the majority today taking a stand. Can’t we hold true the sanctity of the Second Amendment while still having common sense?” – Fox News anchor Gretchen Carlson in Gretchen Carlson doubles down on assault weapons ban after Fox viewers send ‘tons of F-bombs’ [via rawstory.com]

  1. We are getting to see people’s true colors, not the marketing material version. I’ve got some F-bombs for her too.

  2. Fox has went all in for AW Bans… the clearance has been given for these folks to reveal their mask.

As for hunting deer. Again, has nothing to do with hunting. but they cant bear to think about that. Of course… I do hunt with my AR. I just started last year and it has put 3 Texas Axis in the freezer. So again…. They Can F off and die.

      • I have an AR I built twenty years ago in .257/.223. Its a standard carry handle upper with a custom barrel for a .223 case necked up to .257, no other changes to the case body or neck.
It uses standard 5.56 magazines, and does great on medium game with 87 grain bullets at about 2700 FPS. The only problem is I have to handload for it. It’s very similar to the .25/45 Sharps, but not the same length, so I’m still stuck loading for it. OFC, all the newer calibers for the AR platform weren’t around two decades ago, so I quite imagine I have the only one of these in existance.

  3. My ar-15 is being custom made for me as we speak, don’t have any plans for a mass shooting, unless it’s small furry prey, say coyote for example, you can really tell the people in politics and media that have never had or never enjoyed any trigger time, douche bags I say.

  4. Coyotes. P-dogs. Woodchucks. All kinds of varmint hunting. Almost as if the .223 was designed for varmints.

    Oh, wait…

  5. Over the last few days, Fox has dispelled any notion that it is a conservative news station. Fox and any media based in NYC are simply liberals playing to a different crowd.

Now that their true colors have been shown, please stop watching this station and cheer once the ratings plummet.

This reporter and others on Fox are just as happy to see our rights taken away as MSNBC or HuffPo they just may say it in a more polite way.

    • Well said and great advice. I stopped watching Fox News a couple of years ago after they starting drifting to the left in their coverage and staffing decisions..

      • Forget “Fair and Balanced”, how about “Honest and reasonable”?

I quit watching Fox when they started insisting on giving equal time to Liberals and their stupid ideas. Sean Hannity is a bully and frequently has liberals on his show just to berate them and make them look stupid, but at least he doesn’t put up with their inanities.

        • Sean Hannity is a whinney metrosexual NE hiverat weinie.

At least he understands the 2nd

    • “This reporter and others on Fox are just as happy to see our rights taken away as MSNBC or HuffPo they just may say it in a more polite way.”

It’s worse than being more polite. They played “contrarian” to sucker in people that hated the MSNBC’s and CNN’s of the world.

It’s pretty clear it has all been a lie all along. Some have seen and commented on this, but FOX managed to stay in the hen house.

Well played, Murdoch. Gotta give you credit…deception points.

      • All true, but their ratings are cratering, hope they end up like msnbc.
I saw the writing on the wall 5 years ago when shepherd started going off the reservation. So I quit watching them at all. Sometimes watch fox business for stossle but that’s it.

    • Haven’t watched these jags in a long time. They suppored the PATRIOT act back in the early 2000s. Different shade of statism different day.

      • Sounds like you have seen through the left/right, lib/cnv, Dem/Rep, let’s just play both ends against the people in the middle, game that the elite controllers have been playing for so long…
Since the same people own the six corporations that control all print, cable, and airwaves,
        http://www.businessinsider.com/these-6-corporations-control-90-of-the-media-in-america-2012-6?op=1
why WOULDN”T they all agree with each other? Even if they do take great pains to SOUND like they are polar opposites? It matters not what they say, watch what they DO and one cannot help but see their similarities.

  6. The ole ambiguous “get things done”. What things?

How about removing gun free zones, that’s a “thing”.

How about citizen arming themselves, that’s a “thing”.

How about reading the second amendment…skip to the part shall not be infringed and employing it. That’s a “thing”

How about we vote any elected representative out of office who utters or submitted a bill restricting anything to do against carry arms or purchasing ammo. That’s a thing.

    • They all swore an oath to “uphold and protect the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic.”

If they attempt any gun control measure not related to a proposed new amendment to the Constitution they have abrogated their oath and should be either recalled or impeached, whichever is appropriate.

    • Yes, and they also love working in this self manifested ‘crisis’ mode where they say that something has to be done instantly. Thus no time for any reasoned assessment of proposed legislation, no time for debate, no time for thinking. Exactly what they did to get the SAFE act rammed through. They did this with Obamacare also, but on a larger timeframe, but it was still done using a compressed timetable.

No law should be rushed through. New legislation should take a minimum of 1 year to go through the process. Nothing is more important that creating prudent and wise laws.

This is a raw power grab, this is tyranny.

      • I agree that laws should not be passed on emotion and most of the time not rushed through. The mandated 1 year is a little to long though and if it is a bill to protect our constitutional rights like the silencer bill, a bill to get rid of NFA, nationwide constitutional carry, etc. it should go through quickly because a right delayed is a right denied.

  7. Fox is just as progressive as anyone else, they just root for the R’s instead of the D’s. No one in DC or NYC or LA or CHI (arguably the 4 largest/most influential cities in the US) with any power is on the side of liberty or principles. We need to peaceably separate into multiple smaller unions to avoid these problems and ultimately avoid bloodshed.

    • Our own Brexit movement? I like it.

Kevin Phillips has written about “Anglos” as a connected people in The Cousins Wars, and I guess he was as much prescient as historian. The parallels of the USA and Britain continues.

      • There’s a British lord who recently wrote about a Texit (Texas exit) as a life raft for liberty. The R’s in Texas have almost unilaterally dismissed or ridiculed the idea. There was an article on LewRockwell.com in the last couple days about it. It really shows the priorities of the politicians, and it isn’t their constituents.

    • It wouldn’t avoid bloodshed. The leftist subnations would eventually commit aggression against the liberty minded ones, as their economies sink and their savage, soulless people thirst for violence, as leftists throughout history have done.

      • Perhaps, but at least it MAY avoid another bloody conflict similar to a century and a half ago. I choose to look at it as allowing people the right of self determination, you do you and I do me. This is really the way our, or at least my, liberty minded fore fathers intended this section of the continent to operate.

  8. Yep, this incident has torn the veneer off of a LOT of people, including those that FOX. Carlson and O’Reilly are only the beginning of those that will expose themselves this go-around.

I’m rather disgusted this morning. Not because I really care one whit what Carlson thinks (about anything), but rather because of the sheer number of folks that SEEMED to have a basic understanding of 2A that are jumping ship.

What I’m really disgusted about is how everyone is letting this issue be about the freaking GUN, while the REAL issue(s) is being completely ignored.

Just wow. The decay of this country is far worse than I had thought this time last week.

    • The understanding they had of the 2nd only went so far as being told a significant portion of their key demographic claimed to support the 2nd.

I’m sure what’s left of FOX News’ key demo of 75-120 year old Fudds is just fine with Gretchen and Bill. The only thing they’d add is scary pictures of black people holding the guns they don’t like.

      • “The understanding they had of the 2nd only went so far as being told a significant portion of their key demographic claimed to support the 2nd.”

        Agreed.

But, my comment was intended to cast a wider net than just those at FOX. Trump, NRA, and…we’ll see what (R) and previously “pro gun” Senators jump the fence probably today or tomorrow.

Meanwhile, barely a word on the MSM (including FOX) about Amarillo and not a word about the fact that it’s still Ramadan.

Not a word about the 100’s a death threats Milo Yiannopoulus (and the staff of his retail store) are getting every day….as but one other example.

While everyone twists their panties up over “OMG—-TeH EVIL AR-15!!!111!!!,” the next attack is being planned in someone’s mind.

The gun discussion is such an excellent diversion. Someone read “The Art of War” and took that part to heart.

      • Yep, I hear a lot of old farts talk about how hot Gretchen is. I just shudder and think how could she be in the miss America pageant?
And then I just smile knowing there unhinged and think, I wouldn’t plow that field with Crazy Uncle Joe Bidden tool and Barack pushing.

    • O’Reilly? He’s been pro gun control since the beginning. He’s never made a secret of that. He’s also pro price control. He holds a number of liberal positions. People who think he’s strictly conservative haven’t been paying attention from day one.

      • Well, that’s certainly true.

The interesting thing about him, though, is that he was kinda sorta “conservative by association.” He was on FOX, and he hounded a few proggie guests from time to time to build his ‘con cred’ or something.

If it shows nothing else, it shows how easily the wool is pulled over eyes by “television.” For some reason, people have a nascent need to believe what they see on tv. Call FOX ‘conservative,’ put O’Reilly on FOX and boooom…perception is O’Reilly is conservative.

WAG THE DOG…it’s been real for a LONG time.

  9. Can’t we shut down all msms news while still protecting the 1st ammendment? A right isn’t a right if you have stipulations on it. At that point its a privilege.

  10. Suppose 100s of female terrorists hid bombs in their vaginas and then detonated them — killing thousands of people (including themselves of course). And then hordes of people demanded a law that compels all women to submit to on-the-spot, immediate body cavity searches anywhere in public, on demand of any law enforcement officer — e.g. “stop and probe”. Needless to say, such an arrangement would be humiliating and degrading beyond comprehension.

Now imagine if Gretchen Carlson said, “But I’m also with the majority today taking a stand. Can’t we hold true the sanctity of the Fourth Amendment while still having common sense compulsory ‘stop and probe’ for women?”

    • “Suppose 100s of female terrorists hid bombs in their vaginas and then detonated them — killing thousands of people (including themselves of course).”

Actually, that won’t won’t work very well.

Remember the story of the assassination attempt on the Saudi prince?

He had a ‘Butt Bomb’ he detonated in the same room as the prince. The prince survived. It seems the bomber’s guts attenuated much of the plastic explosive’s power.

It made one *hell* of a mess in the room, but the prince survived.

The point being, the ‘lady bits’ are likely to have a somewhat similar volume.

Now a Jihadist that just gave birth, on the other hand, might make a dandy candidate as a host for a ‘baby bomb’…

        • Not the traditional definition of a “dirty bomb” but I’ll allow it.
Damn I crack myself up sometimes

      • Geoff PR,

Nothing in my scenario precludes the bombs from being able to kill thousands. Optimized bomb construction could enable them to be deadly when detonated inside the body. Or the women could remove the bombs and then detonate them in hand outside the body.

Regardless, the “efficacy” of the bombs isn’t the point. The point is that we cannot chuck basic rights for expediency. My example brings to light, in an easy to understand way, the incredible humiliation and destruction of human dignity when we chuck unalienable rights.

  11. Half of the mag are MISSES

Half of the hits are NOT on the CNS, the eyes, the heart, a major artery or a major joint

So with 1/4 of the mag being effective, how many guys can a single mom take down during a home invasion? F U

And guns guns guns. The laser beam focus on GUNS is making it hard to believe it’s not a false flag against American liberty. Freak people out with a terrorist attack, and then knee jerk response by the bloody shirt. It’s getting old.

    • I wouldn’t say it’s a false flag, but I wouldn’t say it isn’t a false flag. Considering the Feds eyeballed this guy 3 times and found nothing conclusive (Can you say incompetent?), and where he worked, the cops not going in for three hours. It could have been planned or they could have just let it go on the chance he would snap – never let a crisis go to waste, especially if you could have averted the crisis to begin with. But then there’s the saying “Never attribute to malice what can easily be attributed to incompetence.”

    • “The laser beam focus on GUNS is making it hard to believe it’s not a false flag against American liberty. “

      Agreed.

It really is astonishing how thoroughly “they” have let the ENTIRE discussion be about the guns. Is anyone on the national stage even talking about Islamic violence anymore? Is anyone talking about ‘gay bashing’ or ‘homophobia’ at all?

Yeah, bloggers and twitter activists are…but not the MSM, the federal governments spokesdrones, not the candidates, and…not us, really.

As soon as it came out that the attacker followed Islam and people started asking questions about that, and criticizing Obama for not calling that part out…BOOOOOOM!!!!

Next Step: Official, coordinated narrative change.

      Like clockwork. And predictable.

      • And why is everyone ignoring the fact that POLICE WAITED THREE HOURS to breach the nightclub?!?!?!? Their failure to act probably caused far more deaths than the terrorist’s initial 60 seconds of unopposed shooting. Saying it another way, how many of the fatalities would have survived if police had immediately stormed the nightclub rather than waiting for three hours?

This event stinks to high Heaven. The 1999 Columbine High School massacre changed law enforcement tactics going forward nationwide: all police agencies were directed to always and immediately charge into active shooter events. Even if only one police officer arrives on scene, they are supposed to go in immediately. Not wait for backup. Not setup a perimeter. Not wait for hostage negotiators. Immediately engage the active shooter. Why did that not happen in Orlando?

Some people have claimed, “Well the terrorist stopped shooting people initially and it turned into a drawn-out hostage/negotiation situation.” Bull$hit. Some guy goes into a nightclub and starts shooting random people indiscriminately with a semi-auto long gun: that is not a hostage/negotiation situation. That is an ACTIVE SHOOTER situation. Go in immediately and take him/her out.

  12. Just another harpy with bad hormones that opened her trap. Getting reeallly tired of this. Real tired.

    Tom

  13. Of course Gretchen Carlson sees no need for the AR 15. She lives in a pampered cocoon-like existence that’s divorced from real life. With the money she gets for wearing short skirts and reading a teleprompter, she can afford to live in cloistered community. She can afford private security when she dares to venture into the real world. And, I doubt that she’s ever hunted anything more than a bargain rack at Nordstrom’s. Her ignorance concerning the 2A and the AR 15 are astonishing, as is her arrogance in telling us what we need to defend ourselves and our family. If she wishes to disarm her and her family, fine with me. As for me, I don’t intend to join her in her suicide pact.

  14. Aren’t I the only one that can decide what is appropriate for me? Whether it’s an AR-15 in .223 or 6.8 spc or a single shot rifle in .444 Marlin, it’s my decision. You don’t like it? Too bad. I didn’t ask anyone for their opinion.

    • “Aren’t I the only one that can decide what is appropriate for me? “

Not in collectivist Utopia’s where you are nothing more than a sheep bred to produce for the “haves.”

  15. I think this is the notion a lot of DC Republicans have. They are RINOs and/or Fudds who could care less about the people they are supposed to represent. Contrarian is all Fox News is.

  16. Fox is the embodiment of the Cuckservative strain of right wing politics. Which is to say, it is naked liberalism on a 25 year delay.

  17. This is the best line:

“And of course, there were a lot worse ones with tons of F-bombs and worse than that even,” Carlson shrugged. “Intolerance is no doubt why politicians sometimes don’t say what they really think.”

Now we have to show “tolerance” toward proto-fascists? We’re going to tolerate ourselves right into the ovens all over again.

  18. Pretty sure, these days, if you see them on TV, they are rich statists, believing themselves parts of the ruling class with opinions that are somehow more important, more enlightened, than the rest of us poor knuckle draggers. News channels are little more than thinly veiled entertainment, manipulating content to deliver ratings, and thus money. And those people will do anything for the money.

For FOX News “conservatism” is just a role they play, as little more than actors, to gain our attention and loyalty; convincing us that they somehow represent us, staging themselves as foes of the CNNs and MSNBCs. Not too different from to the average politician, really. I’ll start believing someone supports the second amendment when they are showing off their collections or standing next to me at the next shooting match. Otherwise STFU.

  19. “I said I was still in favor of the Second Amendment and even concealed carry,” she explained.

That’s my favorite line. So after explicitly stating her opposition to the spirit, reason, and right of the Second Amendment, she says she was still in favor of it. Mind boggling.

Hey moron, I think you and every MSM shill should be put into gulags for what you’re saying and your opinions should be banned from public discourse. Oh, but I’m still in favor of the 1st Amendment.

  20. And more than a couple of republicans are going to be falling in line with this because this is not really about the 2nd. This is about power and money. And when the power and money of the washington rats are threatened they will desert the ship as they already are. We have no true allies in washington. We are on are own.

  21. Oh c’mon former Miss America Carlson(from Minnesoooota) probably believes hunting is the be all and end all for guns. And she’s stuck on the daytime rotation. Knowin’ stuff is too much for her somewhat pretty little head… FOX went full retard for Trump in the last several months(dissing pro-gun repubs like Cruz and Paul).

  22. Gretchen is just getting in touch with her “feelings” that and she has no understanding of just how slippery the slope she is trying to stand upon actually is.This is typical of people who have no notion of how a firearm actually works or how similar the AR is to most other gas operated firearms.

Gun control is the providence of the illogical, and the weak minded, and those who are incapable of understanding simple mechanical processes.

  23. We are being lied to on almost every level and about almost everything that affects our lives so that whoever the source of the particular lie(s) is can make money off us or push a self-serving agenda onto us. So, the observation that Fox News is no better than any other “News Media” is no surprise.

  24. It makes your head want to explode to listen to the media’s total lack understanding of firearms yet they speak with such authority….they are so confidently idiotic. They are doing the bidding of some that do know what they are doing. An AR-15 type rifle is not the best weapon for mass shooting in an small enclosed environment, for same reason its not good for hunting large game. AR15 types are better suited for armed resistance working in organized squads where their light weight and light ammo makes maneuvering easier. The powers that be are targeting them for that reason, not because of mass shootings.

  25. I bought my AR-15 to shoot neo-Nazis after I got death threats from them after pointing out on line their propensity for pedophilia.

Apparently Gretchen thinks that the National [Pedophile] Alliiance should be allowed to silence its critics with death threats…

  26. Dish & Tribune Broadcasting have blacked out FOX in my area over contract disputes…no need to reinstate as far as I’m concerned. I had stopped watching Fox News some time ago anyway because of stupid comments and views.

  27. Nice clothes, spacious homes, swimming pools, fast cars, fancy phones, all the food we can eat, internet, freedom, and liberty.

Nobody needs these things either. Ask the North Koreans.

  28. Its just a semi-automatic rifle with a detachable magazine. There is nothing magical about the AR15. Its the same as an AK, a Ruger Mini 14, a Kel Tec or any number of small handy semi auto rifles chambered in .223 with detachible mags.

    • The only real advantage it has is magazine cost. Now the only cheap mags at ar15 mags.

Gone are the days that I use to buy 2×2 foot box of ak47 with new 30 and 40 Bulgarian mags. A box had about 192 to 200 mags and costs me about 400 shipped. Romanian 75 round mags unused for 26 bucks.
They sold like food to the starving. I sold them as soon as they hit the shelf. Many times the distributors would throw in some free stuff like a couple of metal Fleur de Louis Bosnian mags (seriously wish I kept those)? or a Romanian g kit. Hell I wish had kept it all but never saw it stoping and the aft said no more importing them.
After that the ar had the home town advantage with cheap ammo and mags. Now if your luck a rusty bent ask mags is 14 bucks. A brand new ar usgi alum is 9.

  29. What else could we expect from an ill-informed, dopey blonde, former beauty pageant contestant (she was crowned “Miss America”, an award bestowed upon those of a certain sex in our nation who are “Stupendously Ignorant”) and who FLAME DELETED and whose daughter works for a Sandy Hook/Newtown “charity” (slush-fund)?

  30. Gretchen Carlson, Megyn Kelly, and an undetermined number of other news anchors at Fox aren’t actually moderates or conservatives, they’re just playing a role on TV. Carlson coming out of the gun control closet is an ominous sign for 2nd amendment rights if it means Australian native Rupert Murdoch has decided it’s time for his Fox News to adopt a pro gun control theme that appeals to so many millennials who are the children of an aging conservative audience.

  31. Fox is just a bunch of journalists like all the rest. Whatever they think will get them the ratings and the big name is all they care about.

  32. I don’t know, Greta. How many bullets do you think you’ll need to defend yourself in a situation like the St Louis riots? Do you think somebody was wishing they had an AR15 in Paris…? Or more recently, Florida?

The amazingly sad thing about all of this is we’re now living in age where the any theory of gun control is proven futility. Criminals get guns. In the absence of readily available guns, they manufacture them themselves. how hard is this reality to face?

  33. I’ve never been a fan of Fox News’ commentary, but for once, this makes sense. What is the sport in mowing down prey with an assault rifle. Is your junk so small that you have to compensate with exaggerated big guns? Please. Get a life and find your thrills through an endeavor that might help your fellow man. Grow up
