    • This is perhaps my most favorite Bible verse when I am debating Christians who claim that God orders us to be pacifists.

There are two incredibly subtle and powerful elements to that verse:
      (1) Life will NOT always be peaceful.
      (2) God does NOT call us to be peaceful at all costs.

Our personal obligation to be peaceful — pacifists if you will — ends when the other person refuses to be peaceful in spite of our best attempts to live peacefully. In other words God’s call for us to be peaceful means that we SHALL NOT INITIATE attacks. God’s call for us to be peaceful DOES NOT PRECLUDE effective self-defense.

    • May I add… “God COMMANDS men everywhere to REPENT”. Acts 17:30. I bet the sissy apostates don’t quote THAT verse. Since I know there is great evil in the world I’ll keep my guns. Protect the innocent, provide for the needy and yes live at peace…

    • Something else just occurred to me. Up to this point, everyone seems to interpret that verse (to live at peace with everyone as much as it depends upon you) in a meek, reactionary way: do not provoke anyone and do not defend yourself if you are a pacifist.

How about reading that verse in a much more pro-active light? Why not actively deter attacks outright? Why not be armed and so formidable that no one wants to start a fight with you to begin with?

We all talk about the notion that the only fight we are guaranteed to survive is the fight that never happens. Right? Well, being “armed to the teeth” and dissuading an adversary does exactly that. How is that inconsistent with the Bible verse to “live at peace with everyone as much as it depends on you”? Rather than us “good guys” constantly walking on eggshells, let’s make the bad guys walk on eggshells.

      • Completely agree! A mite difficult where I live but isn’t that what a militia is all about? And yes in my Christian walk I’ve been around ALL kinds of beliefs. The worst? When a gigantic Puerto Rican guy said if his wife was attacked and raped he wouldn’t intervene-or retaliate. Yeah I distanced myself from that bunch many years ago…

      • Mister Fister,

“Your god is false.” Since you most certainly do NOT have all knowledge of everything natural and super-natural, your statement has no authority at all and is thus entirely unpersuasive.

Besides, what does it matter to you whether or not someone believes in an all knowing, all powerful, Holy, just, and loving Creator?

        • Thanks for paying attention uncommon. Why do the heathen rage and the people imagine a vain thing? One wonders what “fister” stands for?

      • While the bible does not preach pacifism it does make clear that if you live by the sword you will die by the sword. Life will be short if you put your faith just in the power of the gun. There is always someone faster, stronger, and with a bigger gun.

        Matthew 26:52

52 Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword.

        • Psalm 144:1
Blessed be the Lord my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight.

        • almostesq,

Let’s look at the verse in detail that you quoted.

Jesus simply told Peter to put his sword away. If having a sword for self-defense was wrong, why had Jesus failed to order Peter to give up his sword months before? Why did Jesus fail at Gethsemane to tell Peter to give away his sword?

I believe there were two reasons why Jesus told Peter to put his sword away. First, it would have been suicide for a few guys to oppose an armed mob. Second, and far more importantly, Jesus’ explicit mission at that point was to be arrested, convicted, and crucified for our sins. That is why Jesus told Peter to put away his sword. Not because having a sword or using a sword for self-defense was wrong, but because Jesus had to be arrested and taken alive in order to atone for the sins of the world.

You should also note that having a tool (whether it be a sword or a firearm) for self-defense is NOT “living by the sword”. Just as God expects us to work with him in regards to feeding ourselves, God expects us to work with him in regards to securing ourselves.

Think about it. God says that he will provide for us. Does he make food appear in our stomachs? No. We work to produce food. We rely on God to provide the raw materials, our talent, and a bountiful harvest. And WE still have to do the work. Similarly, does God make bad guys disappear when they are getting ready to attack us? No. We work to secure ourselves. We rely on God to provide the raw materials, our talent, and successful self-defense. And WE still have to do the work.

  1. Eventually if history is an accurate guide the Marxist will not allow peace to prevail. The history of Marxism is violent overthrow and there is no question about that statement. Purchase a weapon for the day they decide peaceful takeover is not possible.

    • Swilson,

Unfortunately, I think you are exactly right.

Off the top of my head, Marxists took over these nations by force:
      — Russia
      — China
      — North Korea
      — Cuba
      — Vietnam

      Did I miss any?

Are there any examples where Marxists were unable to take over a nation by persuasion and simply gave up?

      • Burma
        People’s Republic of Congo (defunct)
        Laos
        Cambodia
        Nicaragua
        Spain (1936)
        Afghanistan 1978 until 1992

        Unsuccessful but violent:
        Peru (Shining Path, MRTA)
        Nepal
        India
        Finland (Finnish Civil War)
        Germany (Bavarian Council Republic)
        Hungary (1919)
        Malaya

        I’m sure there are more.

        • Ah, yes Swilson … I was directing my reply at Smitty.

Something (or everything) you said clearly had you on my mind!

Merry Christmas to you as well!

  2. Peacenickery is nice and all. Admirable even. Right up until the point that you’re willing to die sitting on your hands. That’s when it crosses into dumbass suicidal territory.

Peace and love, man. Can you dig it? Because if you can’t I’m gonna put you down so me and mine can.

  3. “Be polite, be professional, but have a plan to kill everybody you meet.”

-Maj. Gen. James N. “Mad Dog” Mattis USMC.

    Yup, he’d likely approve.

    • Yhea, the go-to gunstore when the local TV stations want to cast gunowners in a bad light.

Not to mention his anti-gun crusading in the late 90s to restrict/reduce the number of FFLs so he could make more money.

Would like to see his museum, but don’t want to patronize someone like that.

      O2

      • Sounds like him. I’d gladly trade him and all of his BS for someone who actually cares about the people handing him money. Will never step foot on that property ever again.

  4. Our primate brain says “give peace a chance.” But underneath that primate brain is a mammalian brain that says “give peace a chance, but first let’s kill this motherfvcker.” And underneath that mammalian brain is a reptilian brain that says “Let’s just kill this motherfvcker and get laid at the peace rally.”

    Paraphrased from Carlin

    • I would assume the paraphrasing is in the brain types, since there is no primate brain. That is the mammalian brain, under that is the avian brain, and under that lies the lizard brain, the amygdala. I remember that carlin bit, but I think he got the brain types correct. All mammals, including all of the primates, have the two halves of the mammal brain. All birds have the avian brain under that, but lack the mammal’s two brain halves above. It is the part of their brain that is active when flying or singing. The birds, too, have the underlying lizard brain, but in an actual lizard that little lump at the top of the spine is the only brain they possess. And it is only concerned with a few things; mostly eating, mating, fighting, and running away. So the carlin bit is accurate, the mammal brain wants piece, but NOT at any cost, the avian brain doesn’t think that way, but still largely fights only when in lizard mode. And in lizard mode, even a human only thinks of eating and mating, or fighting or fleeing. The lizard knows little else, and neither does a man locked into amygdala mode.
This is why the antis are so violent and nasty, and really impossible to reason with. Because they are mostly locked into lizard mode(a human in lizard mode is extremely easy to manipulate, caring only for party’s and fights, plus the lack of those), and so nothing exists for them but partying and fighting. It is why they jump to the attack instantly, even when it is obviously foolish. Because nothing is obvious to a human in lizard mode. Which is why thought provoking questions are the way to get through to them. IF they have to think to formulate an answer that requires the use of the higher cognition function, which means the amygdala will have to give up some control. If you can ask an anti a really good question, you will see the intelligence return to his eyes, and some reason will show up with it. It is quite a good moment. Treasure one, because they are few and far between.

  5. Yeah… Funny how I bet this exact same toolbag had no problem voting for the bullshit gun control referendums that have floated up out of the porcelain throne that is CA.

    • The illegals speak Spanish so they’d likely understand that.

The “educated” liberals have no clue what those words mean.

    • Si vis pacem, para bellum
If you seek peace, prepare for war.

It’s my favorite pearl of wisdom, ever. It is relevant to so many situations, whether you’re talking about nuclear weapons or a politician’s campaign war chest. It might also apply to open carry. You’re less likely to be attacked when the adversary knows it will be a costly venture even if he prevails.

      • “You’re less likely to be attacked when the adversary knows it will be a costly venture even if he prevails.”

Makes you wonder why people freak out about being attacked for OCing…

  6. Apparently, a lot of Liberals are suddenly buying guns across the Nation. They think we “rednecks” are going on an armed rampage against them, and everyone else we are imagined to despise, the moment Trump speaks the last word of the Presidential Oath of Office. Another disappointment for the libtards in the making. What concerns me is that the far left has threatened and perpetrated violence already. So, one has to wonder if they will begin to fulfill their projections of violence once they are armed and we don’t oblige their violence against them fantasies.

Best at this point to take Maj. Gen. Mattis’ advice to heart, along with the Boy Scout Motto: “Be Prepared.”

BTW- The California Rifle and Pistol Association is reporting that the issuance of CCW permits in CA has skyrocketed since the 11-Judge Panel of the Ninth Circuit Court overturned the first ruling in Peruta v. County of San Diego.

  7. Projection. Liberal/regressives already fight for the “right” to commit mass murder of the unborn for convenience sake and since they also talk wistfully of government directed mass slaughter of that “basket of deplorables” , they think we will return the favor, once The Donald takes office.

  8. Luke 22:36
Then He said to them, But now let him who has a purse take it and also [his provision] bag; and let him who has no sword sell his mantle and buy a sword. (AMP)

Christ Himself told His followers to arm up for self-defense. There are countless instances where one of God’s people went to war, usually on His order. That implies they were armed and trained regularly.

  9. Does anyone else think that, while AK47s are still an effective battlefield weapon and very cool, they’re becoming more than a little old fashioned?

Time has passed the AK platform by leaving the AR as the undisputed king by every measurable standard.

    • Not really. The main thing where the AK beats the AR platform is that you can go just about anywhere on the planet and pick up an AK dirt cheap, spray some WD-40 or rub some motor oil on it and it will work. Rusted to crap, run over and barrel beat back to being “straight” with a hammer… doesn’t matter. That thing will put rounds down range in most cases.

As a bonus in many places a $5 bill will get you one plus a few mags of ammo. Hell, in parts of Africa a $5 bill will get you more than a few mags and throw in a 20lb bag of rice and you can get a crate of RPG-7’s to go with it.

For the budget minded person who’s got killin’ motherfuckers the world over on the agenda you really can’t beat the AK.

      • I knew a guy in college who traveled to Africa often as a kid. Told me with a completely straight face: “I have lived in places where you can give someone a live chicken and they will toss back an AKM, plus chest rig and five loaded mags if the chicken is extra meaty.

        • Oh yeah, it’s true.

I was talking to some people in Zimbabwe and I sat down. Later in the conversation they told me that if we would go to the next town over and get a 20lb bag of rice for them we could have everything in the crate I was sitting on. The crate was full of RPG’s. Six if I recall correctly.

When I said you could trade 20lbs of rice for RPG’s I wasn’t kidding. Africa is pretty crazy.

        • That’s not surprising. Simple economics, even if the left likes to pretend that they can be dictated on a whim. Huge swaths of Africa have little food but a huge amount of weapons.

    • Slab Rankle,

If you ever take an AK-47 completely apart, you will see how much simpler they are and thus how much more reliable they are than AR-15 platform rifles. That is their “beauty” and their huge appeal.

If I could purchase an AK-47 with a milled receiver (I just cannot bring myself to purchase a firearm whose receiver is made from stamped sheet metal) for $400 or less, I would would probably purchase two immediately. As it stands, I refuse to pay $650 for a sheet metal rifle. Now, if I could purchase the sheet metal version for $250 or less, I would probably purchase two immediately.

  10. It seems atheists have lost faith in the california state government.
But don’t worry socialist progressive people. The government will continue to give you “free stuff” that you have demanded for decades.
