Some people need meds for chemical imbalances, some people can do it with therapy, some people need the good old-fashioned asylum that we have sadly abandoned, so they will end up in prison instead.
Behavior analysis intervention is the only known treatment for behavior disorders… Chemical intervention/restraint (aka drugging people) is akin to removing the motor out of a vehicle to fix a valve issue; no engine, no problem.
I agree that science seems to indicate that behavior analysis, CBT, whatever we call it is most effective.
I would offer that meds are an important component for some folks. If the doc knows how to drill down on the proper cocktail for the patient, it can be quite helpful. But yeah, pumping them full of Xanax and Lithium till they are the walking dead is not the answer.

He also parsed his words to only include mass ‘shootings’, not mass killings. Otherwise you’d have to include Timothy McVeigh. The guys that don’t use guns at all usually rack up bigger body counts than those who do.

Either way, if Hasan is the only non-example example we’ve given here, the point still stands: there are numerous cases of ‘mass shootings’ that did not involve semi-automatic weapons with high capacity magazines.

The AR was not even really on my list until the democrats started ranting about them. Didn’t know much about them. I figured I would get one someday after I had the other guns I wanted. I was just getting into C&R milsurp rifles and bullseye pistol when the ban talk started. I didn’t panic buy but I put off buying mil-surps and pistols and started acquiring parts for a build. It was strictly an “in your face Obama” political statement. Now I understand why they are so popular. I have a fun, cheap to shoot, customizable rifle and I’m thinking about building another in a larger caliber and it’s all thanks to the authoritarian democrats. A fan? Yes. Addicted? No.

I am lucky enough to belong to a private club with 25, 50, 100 and 200 yard ranges 3 miles from my house. It’s gets bad when I have yard work to do and I can hear people over there shooting. After I pick up a couple of lowers with 2 stage triggers that I ordered from RifleGear, and maybe get an additional .50 Beowulf upper, and finish tuning my second AR-10, when my 13th or 14th builds are finished, I think I’ll be ok.

I’d like to get my hands on one of those Leinad side by side derringers but they are a rare find. Either that or a century arms side by side in 20 gauge or .410. Probably the 20 gauge because I could shoot it more often.
