Hizzoner said he was “disappointed” that the Prez didn’t use the Loughner spree-killing as a jumping off point for an impassioned plea for gun control. (Although the Prez did use the Safeway Massacre as a jumping-off point for the entire speech.) This morning, the President’s staff spent a good five minutes pseudo-reassuring common senseis that the Commander-in-Chief would, indeed, address the whole gun thing. “I wouldn’t rule out that at some point the president talks about the issues surrounding gun violence,” White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs told reporters aboard Air Force One. “I don’t have a timetable or, obviously, what he would say.” Bloomie’s crew think he doth protest too little.
