“Rather than attend a candidate debate to replace Jesse Jackson in the 2nd District on April 4, held by the NAACP, Robin Kelly instead went to her own candidate forum,” Rebel Pundit captions at YouTube. “While arguing against conceal and carry coming to Illinois Kelly tells constituents that ‘in the [Cinemark movie theater in Aurora Colorado] they have conceal and carry, but nobody pulled out their guns um to kill the gentleman that um did all the damage that he did.’

Not only does Kelly blatantly lie to her constituents about the facts about the movie theater shootings, failing to mention that the movie theater was a ‘gun-free zone’, but she also refers to the psycho-lunatic murderer [James Holmes] as ‘gentleman.'” I don’t think she lied. Which is worse. In some ways. [h/t Dan Baum]

  1. Kelly is your typical Chicago Machine political hack spewing ignorance and stupidity each time she opens her mouth. Since she has the local Machine-ass-kissing media on her side, there hasn’t been a peep about this in the local media; blogosphere only.

  2. Just another DEMOCRAT who doesn’t know what the HELL she is talking about. The movie theater was a GUN FREE ZONE that is why no one could have stop this MANIAC LIKE HER.

  3. what we have to start doing as a “informed voter” is start calling these idiots on this crap right there on the spot in public so the low information voters can get the truth…unfortunately the ones at those gathering are ….well lets just say….

    • Well, we can.

‘Tis better toask forgiveness, et cetera. It’s also illegal to do a u-turn over the centre divider, but I’ve done so to get to an accident and render aid. Same thing.

  4. You have to understand something about these people. They lie as a way of life, and it really doesn’t matter to them if we catch them in their lies or not. Enough “low information voters” will hear this and swallow it hook, line, and sinker. They have neither shame nor conscience. They take their lead from the biggest liar of them all, who told us earlier in the week that the AR that Lanza used at Sandy Hook was full auto, which of course it was not. He knows damn good and well that was a filthy lie, but that doesn’t matter. His mush head followers heard and they believed, as he knew they would. And the media remained silent, as he knew they would.

  5. Guns are a bad idea, president grabber will tell you this surrounded by guards with machine guns. Who will the airhead call when threatened?, not ghostbusters, you guessed it , cops with guns. I think their lunatic dream is losing steam & we will hear more desparation, Randy

  6. For progressive\socialists, the ends justify the means. Lying and distorting the facts is the least they wiil do to enforce their beliefs on everyo

Over 200 million people have been murdered in the name of progressive/ socialists/ communists fanaticism.

Most of these “elitists” look to the mass murdering psychopath Mao as an inspiration and a role model for what is possible, what these purely evil people with their “hope and change” they want to achieve in their nightmare vision for “social justice”.

  7. Ah, yes. One event in which either there was no CCW holder, or someone failed to defend themselves, and suddenly self-defense is pointless everywhere.

Not that you won’t see this cited in someone’s op-ed or report again.

  8. the most interesting article in the NYT this morning was not Nocera, it was the one that says police are encouraging people to … wait for it… take a more active role including fighting back.

“Research on mass shootings over the last decade has bolstered the idea that people at the scene of an attack have a better chance of survival if they take an active stance rather than waiting to be rescued by the police, who in many cases cannot get there fast enough to prevent the loss of life. ”

STFU, the NYT almost but not quite says that the NRA is right: “In 16 of the attacks studied by the researchers, civilians were able to stop the perpetrator.”

Well, they do recommended running and hiding before fighting, but imagine the outrage if they had said otherwise. baby steps.

    • I a see a moral dilemma in the reporting, they found statistics they could not refute at the same time they could not come to grips of actually telling people they should fight back because it is against their utopian ideals.

      • baby steps. For now I am enjoying the jaw clenching and teeth gnashing that must have gone on as they published it.

  9. “Don’t attribute malice to something that can be explained by stupidity.”

While Robin Kelly does indeed speak with a lot of malice, I attribute this remark to rank ignorance. All she knows is that Colorado is a shall issue CCW state with a lot of “gun nuts” so there must have been a lot of people packing in the theater.

    • I hate that quote. Just because someone said it and it sounds witty does not make it universally true. Both malice and stupidity can and often do coexist in the minds of politicians, left or right. The facts don’t matter, the stupid part is to say whatever comes to mind just because it feels right, the part that wants to use the stupid against other people is the malicious part. They reinforce one another. Bloomberg is stupid, and malicious. Obama is stupid, and malicious. Grabbers are stupid, and malicious.

      • Stupidity is an excuse. Bloomberg is an Electrical Engineer by education. He filled with pure malice and a New Yorker’s sense moral superiority on not just guns.

A person can malicious because they are stupid, If they have a brain they can educated and lose the malice.

        • Yep. Ignorant is not the same as stupid. People like Bloomberg remain ignorant because they want to (not because they’re incapable of learning). And they are definitely smart enough to be sneaky, malicious, and very dangerous.

  10. In L.A. In the early eighties, police chief Gates said of concealed carry that while he could not officially recommend it as it was generally illegal, he’d much rather that “we” [the police] caught you with a concealed gun than that a bad guy caught you without it.

    Pretty strong words.

  11. I think she was speaking out of ignorance not lying about the Aurora shooting. I think the technical term for this is “talking out of your ass”. What she fails to realize is that she is making an argument FOR concealed carry not against. Forgetting that the theater was a gun free zone, the logical conclusion is that too few people in Colorado take advantage of their concealed carry law. If more people carried then the odds of someone (or perhaps several someones) would have been able to cut his rampage short. Never expect a liberal to recognize logic.

  12. Only the best quality politicians for the people of Chicago to vote for. I wouldn’t care at all if not for the fact the winner of this seat will be in a position to affect my life from DC and probably serve for life, as long as they don’t get caught with their hand in the cookie jar.

Seriously, look what it took to get JJjr out of office. And he was just re-elected.

  13. Luckily in colorado the signs dont carry the weight of law, they have to know you are carrying and ask you to leave. I carry at all times and dont care if they have a sign, if they ask me to leave i will, and wont be back either way. The mall in oregon was posted too but the young military man was carrying anyway and was the likely reason the nut killed himself. I will defend myself and anyone else i can and take what comes.
