Michael Bloomberg (courtesy bbc.com)

Dan the Man heard a rumor on Fox News, attributed to former New Hampshire Governor John Sununu: if Donald J. Trump gets the GOP nomination to face a wounded Hillary Rodham Clinton or Bernie No Middle Name Sanders (as is) gets the Democratic nomination, billionaire ballistic bully boy Michael Bloomberg could jump in as an independent third party candidate. What’s the right word for that? Nooooooooooooooo! The only upside to this nightmare scenario: Bloomberg might burn millions — that he would otherwise spend on civilian disarmament — and lose credibility.

        • ^^ My thoughts exactly. He’s about the most out of touch, smug, upper west side, ivory tower shit bag out there. He probably really believes he’s a popular figure across the country.

        • Yeah well, except perhaps for you-know-who… it’ll be like Cage vs Travolta with Bloom and Trump in the ring together (a nice consolation prize for us missing out on Trump vs Biden in the debates)

      • I disagree. They could find a spine, tell the truth instead of being all mealy mouth, and stop giving a mile to take back an inch.

If what the enemy of liberty does ends up being the best thing for you, you are lazy in the defense of liberty.

        • You’re confusing “Best thing that can happen to the GOP” with “Best thing the GOP can do.”

Being handed the White House on a silver platter would be the best thing that can “happen to” the GOP, because it’s not something that they’re doing to themselves.

Growing a spine and upholding the Constitution would be the best thing that the GOP “could do,” because it’s something that they and they alone are in control of.

    • Yep, right you are. Let Bloomers’ here be the black horse running for the third party. He will essentially do for the democrats what a man by the name of Ross Perot did for the Republicans. By the time the general election in 1996 took place Bob Dole had been all but scuttled. Bloomberg is arrogant enough to run third party lets just hope he is dumb enough to try it.

  1. Are you kidding me? Bloomberg running as an Independent would be an early X-mas present for gun owners in 2016. He’d surely split the ticket from any Democrat nominee.

    • To begin with, he’d likely win NY outright, which would probably sink the Dem candidate all by itself. And the result just might go a long way toward the numbskull figuring out that America does not agree with him, even after he spends a hundred million explaining his genius.

  2. That would be awesome for us!
Millions you say? If I remember right, obama was the first candidate to spend a billion for that chair. George Soros anyone?

    • I think Obama spent around $1B. Usually the candidate that spends the most, wins.

I said long ago that once Bloomberg finishes his NYC mayor stunt, the only thing left for him to do is to run for president. I’m actually surprised he’s not in the race yet. Monopoly Money Mike can just keep throwing more and more cash into his potential campaign until Trump and others give up. And if Hillary gets indicted, Sanders has no chance against Bloomberg. None. I guess maybe that’s what Mike is waiting for. To see if Hillary gets into legal trouble. That would make for a very easy nomination for him (I’m assuming he’d run as a Democrat. Independent my butt).

      • “Usually the candidate that spends the most, wins”

Careful, though, there’s a chicken and egg here somewhere. En route to winning the election, you’re going to convince a lot of rich folk that you are the right guy, resulting in you having the most money to spend, whether it helps or not. I don’t think Bloomberg could win if he spent 5 billion, and was himself the Dem nominee..

        • I think that’s a stat that I read a while ago. But yeah, outspending your opponent doesn’t guarantee victory. I just don’t see Bernie as any sort of viable candidate, especially if Bloomberg were to enter the race. I don’t think Mike will run as an independent. If Hillary is indicted, he’ll jump right in and will not only have all his billions to back him up, I’m sure he’s also good buddies with major banks / hedge funds / big donors who will much rather give money and backing to him rather than ‘crazy’ Bernie.

  3. Open another front Mike. Do you mind if I call you Mike? Well, I guess I don’t care if you do or not. Burn that cash, burn votes that would go to the other side regardless, and expose yourself for what you are.

  4. This rumor has been around for a few weeks. I’d be thrilled if it was true. He would split the gungrabber vote down the middle and give the election to the Republican.

        • Just a personal observation about the hildabeasts popularity. I live in the San Francisco bay area. My job takes me all over this area including almost daily trips into Berkeley. I drive for a living so I’m in traffic all day.

Plenty of Bernie 2016 bumper stickers. Not a single hillery sticker. Not one that I’ve seen. Not even on the Prius’s.

        • Jwm I drive all over Austin and noticed the Same thing here. Have seen a ” Hillary for prison 2016 ” bumper sticker

        • I didn’t think Nader out polled the conservative and libertarian candidates, but you’re right, he did. Nader got 2.74%, the rest got just under 1% combined. I guess I’m not the only one who held my nose and voted for GWB (a mistake I did not repeat four years later).

      • For once? It happen to Gore. If Nader hadn’t been in that race, he’d have had more than enough votes to take Florida.

Third party candidates have been throwing wrenches in the works forever, on all sides.

  5. I hope he runs.

He actually thinks he is the mega-rich counterpart to Donald Trump.

He has NO CHANCE IN HELL of winning and he will have just blown Tens of Millions of his
    money.

    Go for it Bloomberg.

  6. He’d spend millions, make his own facts about winning the presidency, and claim it’s the NRA that’s keeping him from really taking office.

  7. The dems seem too united with the manifesto to overturn the Constitution with some form of dictatorship/communist/aristocratic/liberal/progressive wet dream.
My guess is if Hillary can’t pull it off she steps down and Bloombberg steps in.

  8. He’s conceited enough to think he has already bought his way into heaven, to him buying the White House would be no big deal. Go ahead and run Mikey…. Make my day.

  9. Money is inconsequential. He has no chance at getting elected and running would pull democratic votes not republican.

It makes no sense other than the little man craves attention. It’s burning his flabby ass to see Trump getting all the headlines, might become president and doing so in part by blasting Bloombags anti-gun agenda.

The very first comment on this thread by Big Jim sums it up best. Bloombags a d—– bag

    • If your prez race candidacy survives past a certain date, you get matching funds from the govt, and you can give it all to your liberal POS media supporters

  10. Everyone knows that the country is run by the 1%, and that includes selecting the candidates for national office. Obviously, Hill is the candidate of choice for the DNC. But if Hillary runs into “difficulties,” either based on the FBI investigation (which quite frankly folks, is never gong to result in long-rumored criminal charges, since it would be Lynch who would be the one filing them, and she will not do so without express authority from Obama that will never come) or by her being beaten in Iowa and New Hampshire by Bernie, the DNC will dump her in favor a dark horse candidate–a candidate that could easily be Mikey. The progressive wing of the party will be furious, but will be unable to do anything about it, since they control only 20% of the vote. Then there will be no party split.

    • “But if Hillary runs into “difficulties,” either based on the FBI investigation (which quite frankly folks, is never gong to result in long-rumored criminal charges, since it would be Lynch who would be the one filing them, and she will not do so without express authority from Obama that will never come)…”

      I’m not convinced on that.

1 – At this point, the only thing Obama is focused on is his legacy. He realizes if an R wins the White House, the R stands a very good chance of un-doing Obama’s ‘accomplishments’.

2 – There is no love between Obama and the HildaBeast. Each despises the other. If Obama begins to think HRC might not win and will jeopardize his ‘legacy’ , he’ll throw her under the bus *fast* and move his support to someone else.

I have another prediction. Ex-Presidents usually are low-key in their retirement.

Not Obama. If an R wins he will piss-and-moan behind a podium with a hand-lettered sign that reads: “Office of the Ex-President” for the entirety of the next administration. (That’s a jab at his ‘Office of the President Elect’ sign on the podium during the transition to his first admin.)

I was listening to Clyde Lewis on Ground Zero the other night, and he was talking about Obama going for high-office within the UN, quite likely Secretary General. I’ve long thought that would be his next move.

        • I heard talk that (Bill) Clinton wanted to be secretary general a few years ago, but he can’t because that role can’t be filled by a citizen of a permanent security council member. Obama is ineligible for the same reason.

      • There is no love between Obama and the HildaBeast. Each despises the other.
But both are ideological products of Saul Alinsky.

  11. He is a fiscal conservative and screwed the unions in NYC. He will get some more moderate GOP and independent voters. With Trump as the nominee, Clinton or Bloomberg will certainly win. As a fiscal mostly anti-union conservative who expanded charter schools in NYC, he is a nightmare candidate for the GOP.

    • The stupid segment of the Repub party will believe Bloomberg lies and commercials that he is a conservative.

How big is the stupid segement….well 25% of Repubs think Cruz is ineligible to be president so the number is at least that big.

  12. Why can we only get people running from New York?

    Trump – billionaire from NY
    Clinton – ex-senator from NY
    Bloomberg – ex-mayor of NYC

  13. For some reason I had a nightmare about a Clinton-Bloomberg ticket last night. Let’s hope this puts the kibosh on that.

  14. If Hillary is the nominee Bloomberg would have little impact outside of NYC. If Bernie or Lizzie get it then all the sane Democrats vote for him. I know everybody hates on “the Establishment” but Republicans aren’t voting for Bloomberg.

  15. The only thing Sodaberg will get out of a run for president is a smaller bank account. Doesn’t make much of any sense unless his plan, much like Jim Webb’s possible independent run, is to win their home states keeping anyone from winning the 270 electoral votes needed and send the election to the House of Representatives. Hilary wouldn’t have any support from red states and Trump is unpopular with both sides leaving the compromise candidate of Sodaberg.

  16. If Bloombastard does make an independent run, he will ruin the Democrat party and maybe pave the way for his takeover. Maybe that’s his plan — rule or ruin. He’s arrogant enough, vicious enough and narcissistic enough to do it. He bought New York, didn’t he? Buying a party would be small potatoes.

  17. It always cracks me up when Democrats and Democrat politicians complain about how much money Republicans have, and ignore their own rich guys, as if they don’t count or something.

I would urge caution: no one thought Trump would last, and look where he is.

  18. Do it ! Do it! Short…er El Cha…er little Mike run! I got news for you-everyone hates the hildebeast. Not sure the donald is better…sigh.

  19. To all who think he’d “split the vote”… who would vote for Bloomberg, seriously? He doesn’t bring anything to the table that Hillary already doesn’t (and that goes double for all the negatives).

  20. Other than a couple hundred Moms Demand Disarmament votes, and the gay coalition, who would vote for this loony toon? He makes Sanders seem viable.

  21. What’s agonizing for me is that outside of his anti gun stance, which is extreme, his time in NYC showed that he was a capable administrator, able to maintain stability and keep the many little factions working together. On that end, he’s technically a better candidate than Trump, Bernie or Shillary

  22. “hell split the democrat ticket.”

“hell waste millions he mightve otherwise spent on disarmament.”

“itd be the best thing that could happen to us.”

…unless he were elected. how much do yall really trust the same fools that elected our current prince of fools?

  23. I can see him jumping in if Hillary goes down in the Democratic Primary (looks increasingly likely). They are both part of the elite that like to see politics be like a football game played between the 48 an 52 yard lines. Outside of the cocktail party circuit in DC they have no natural constituency. I believe that Mike, if he chooses to jump in will be unable to win and will probably not the move the needle very much. His politics are that of No Label, a top down center-right movement of technocrats and political insiders.

  24. Nothing would plunge the nation into civil war faster than bloomberg willing to impose his/their will on the people,By force if necessary. I have no doubt he would try….Had Hitler’s speeches exposed his REAL intent. he would have never been Germany’s leader.. this is going no where, everyone knows his intent… and if by some Imagination of liberal Disneyland fantasy he made it in the whitehouse… congress would lead the charge to get him the hell out… Sandbags around the whitehouse is very unbecoming for the leader of the free world…. this is a non starter.. a no go.. and they all know it.

  25. Hahaha! Bloomberg is pulling a Feinstein in that picture. Granted his finger is off the trigger, but he’s pointing the gun right at that guy’s crotch! It’s probably not a bad thing that his 17 armed body guards carry guns instead of him.

It is comical though to see how uncomfortably he is holding that gun. He looks like he’s afraid of it, like it might get mad and spontaneously start shooting up the place. As you very well know, guns have a will of their own, and otherwise good people are put under an evil gun’s mind control the second they get their hands on one. It’s kind of like Gollum and the ring of Sauron (End sarcasm).

Also, Australia, the paragon of gun control greatness, had two shootings since September, one with 5 deaths (ie mass shooting) and one mass stabbing last December (That’s right Jim Jeffries! F**k you!). There was also the paris shooting with 130 deaths. How the hell can anyone look at these and still think that gun control is the solution? Anyway I digress. We were talking about Bloomberg, weren’t we.

Hopefully he’ll pull some Dem votes away from Hillary or Sanders, and he will screw them over just like Perot screwed Bush in the 1992 election (with 19 percent of the vote, allowing Clinton to win with 39 percent).

    • I rather thought that Bush screwed Perot in ’92, if he had just dropped out while endorsing Perot, life would have been much better at least until ’95, by which time Clinton had gotten the message, did fine after that.

  26. He owes it to The Children, The Demanding Mammas, and especially the gun manufacturers (can you picture the demand for guns?) to run for the big chair. We’ll need a Presidential booster seat if he wins.

  27. What no yellow flag in the chamber?.. no tie wrap in the mag well?…. Looks like they are slacking in their alarmist messages to the public.

  28. Will never happen. He’s too smart to know that his stupididy won’t fly except in his behind the scenes manipulations.

  29. Robert, from one Jew to another, traditionally, Jews never gave their children middle names. The name is chosen out of respect for a beloved family member who has passed. As you, Dan the man, Bernie Sanders, and I are all Jews, it hardly seems appropriate to mock anyone, let alone an elected representative to the House and Senate for the past 25 years, for not having a middle name. If I’m not wrong, you Robert are Jewish and born, raised and educated through college in New England. What would Ted Cruz have to say about that?
