The new council is currently made up of 79 members from the creative community, including Steve Carrell, Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Lawrence.” Before you point out that Hollywood actors have armed bodyguards, I’d like to point out that . . .
there’s no need for a 50’s-style Congressional Communist witch hunt. The “creative community” churns out extremely effective pro-gun movies in their thousands. Movies, video games and books (stories printed on paper) where good guys with guns defeat bad guys with guns, RPGs, tanks, helicopters and nuclear bombs. The creative community’s contribution to the pro-gun movement is priceless.
If pampered creatives living in La-La Land and The Big Apple are a tad hypocritical in their gun politics, well, we can cut them some slack. If not click here to leave a message on their Facebook page, which won’t be deleted because creatives are all about free expression. As I wrote on the page, the Second Amendment protects the first.
Does this mean Ms. Moore won’t accept any more royalties checks for her role in “Hannibal”? Remember the scene where the outdoor market gets shot up and she kills the woman holding the baby?
One thing about it–if it says “Everytown” in the name, anyone who’s paying attention will know exactly where the message is coming from.

There are a lot of probably unintentionally pro-civilian armament themes in places you might not expect. Early on in The Hunger Games, Katniss carefully retrieves her hunting bow and knife out of hiding, because anyone armed in the districts would be considered a threat to Panem. In Harry Potter, when Voldemort and his Death Eaters take over, they immediately stop teaching Defense Against the Dark Arts at Hogwarts, and also confiscate wands from any undesirables. Like I said, these are probably unintended, but the point is still there, if the reader is able to think it through.
Hunger Games , as I understand it, and Apocalypto, which I have actually seen, are two obvious expressions of the theme that the central government nannies are massively exploiting the ordinary folks just to keep themselves in power and luxury. But still, most folks don’t seem to get it.

I’m wondering if this is going to turn out to be another Mayors Against Illegal Guns type thing, where they’re telling these celebs that they’re just about “gun safety” (heck, I’m for safe gun handling), so they get more names for their list, and then come out with their full-on anti-gun, we-want-them-all-confiscated message later.

Blatantly incorrect, the NRA is the largest gun violence prevention organization, followed by the GOA I believe. Lawful carriers are I believe the most effective deterrent to any form of violence, shooting, assault, robbery, burglary, rape, kidnapping, carjacking, you name it. If they doubt it they can ask their armed security personnel.

Back when Blockbuster was still a thing I did an informal survey one night – I counted the number of video cases on which the frontspiece picture to sell the movie included a gun of some sort.
Result – about 43% if you did not include the children’s section.

Offerman only plays a cool guy on TV. He was one of the first to jump on for anti-gun everytown tv ads.
I guess I was blinded by the fact that he has a full woodshop and makes some pretty nice stuff. It’s so rare that actors have any practical skills, I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt.

It wouldn’t surprise me if many of the actors aren’t very familiar with Everytown. I’m sure Everytown is spinning this so heavily as a “gun safety” thing that many of that people in support don’t actually know the true agenda. I’m also sure none of them will actually look into it and find out that they are supporting disarmament.

If ever there existed a group of useful idiots, this would be it.
I do not watch movies because I admire an actor’s IQ, rather I watch the movie because of entertainment value and an actor’s ability to portray a character and tell a story. If I were to watch a movie based on their politics or common sense, I would never go to the movies or watch any TV (which do less of both as I get older anyway). If these members of the “intellectual elite” and self appointed arbiter of moral, took seriously the loss of life, they would worry about the fact that cars kill and injure 3 times as many people than guns. But since everyone drives a car, no one thinks they are part of the problem. Many of these hypocrites count on armed bodyguards for their protection and do not mingle with the normal public nor are exposed to the same risks as regular civilians. They live very protected lives with a mindset that does not allow them to understand real life practical problems. Just like most politicians.
Don’t these rich Hollywood types have ARMED body guards? If they want disarmament they should start by stopping the violence on the screen and with their body guards to set the tone and a good example.
