Some 30 African-Americans marched through the streets of South Dallas, Texas on Wednesday. According to myfoxdfw.comThe Huey P. Newton Gun Club “said the show of force served as a reminder of the right to bear arms to protect themselves from criminals and from police.” (Press release after the jump.) “They are trying to protect the community,” said Jacey Cofer with Mothers Against Teen Violence. Wow! A Mother Against group that’s for guns. Now you’re talking! The march had at least one tense moment . . .

The marchers entered a south Dallas restaurant with their weapons, where Dallas police officers inside were finishing eating lunch.

No info on how that encounter went down, but the lack of information is reassuring enough.

People watched as the marchers worked their way along Malcolm X Boulevard, and Dallas police in a black SUV provided unsolicited security for the demonstrators.

One of them, Drew X with the New Black Panther Party, warned, “If they don’t get these people under control with this police brutality and this abuse, this gonna be an international crisis.”

Unsolicited security? There’s an Orwellian euphemism if I’ve ever heard one. And I’m not sure what Drew X meant by an “international crisis” but I don’t think Russia (for example) is going to care too much about American cops brutalizing the local citizenry.

Anyway, it’s always good to see people arming themselves against oppression and tyranny. TTAG has reached out for an interview/audience.

Huey P. Newtown Gun Club press release:

The recent murders of unarmed black, brown, and whites across the United States of America has eradicated trust in the police. Individuals across this nation have been stripped of due process, subjected to state-sponsored police terrorism, and continue to suffer the fate of being terminated extra-judicially.

In Dallas the police have murdered over 70 unarmed individuals, most of the black and brown men, over the last ten years. Excluding a recent incident where police testimony was contradicted by surveillance footage, there have been no indictments since 1973.

The people, who are gunned down and murdered by violent and militarized police forces, have formed the Huey P. Newton Gun Club, for the specifc purpose of self defense and community policing.

In response, Black and Brown residents of the City of Dallas will conduct the first of an ongoing and necessary armed self defense patrols through our communities in the coming week.

We, the Huey P. Newton Gun Club, hereby put forth the following non-negotiable demands and promote these conditions for the protection of our communities:

1. We demand the immediate end to police brutality, harassment, and murder of the people.

2. We assert the right of the people, particularly those of color, to bear arms and protect themselves where local, state, and the federal government have historically failed to do so.

3. We demand that the media, in coordination with police, cease immediately assassinating the character of victims subject to police terrorism.

  1. Can’t wait to see the progs spin over this one. Clearly a bunch of old, racist, teabillies who can’t let go of their high capacity death machines.

        • Geez, does anybody get sarcasm anymore. The reference to racist was to the real Huey P. Newton and obviously he wasn’t a tea party guy. He was a communist.

        • And the Tea Party is racist because we don’t like them and want them to fail. Wait, I was just supposed to think that.

      • Its obvious your ignorant to histoy outside of what you what you were fed in high school. You accuse someone of being racist and totally disregard the times and events that surrounded him. Unless you think that being black was a cake walk in the 50s and 60s.

        • Heah F-tard, I’m old enough to have marched in civil rights demonstrations and dated a black woman when both races were extremely hostile so STFU.

        • Wow. I’m sorry. Your age makes you a historian and you dating a black woman gives you an expert understanding of what its like to be black. To hell with that crap dumb@$$. You may be old enough to have marched…..but you didn’t! How much research have you done about Huey before you made that stupid comment about him being a racist outside of talking about him with your racist friends that are just like your crazy @$$? None! Please get educated before you comment, because ignorant comments like that makes you seem stupid.

    • +1– Can’t imagine what the guardians of “guns are just the crutches of underendowed white racists” think about this. But given liberals’ astounding capacity for embracing contradictory concepts, we may soon be reading that “only the police, military, and oppressed minorities should have guns” on HuffPo.

    • Well, this is one “prog” that thinks it’s great. In fact, I sent the organizers an email of congrats before I saw your post. We need more armed people of color and armed liberals in order to be prepared to defend ourselves from the reichwing and militia types who have fantasies about overthrowing a lawful and popularly elected government in the USA for their own greedy purposes.

        • Get with the times – goods and services produced by individuals, such as water, food, and healthcare, are “human rights” now.

Progressivism: Our Policies Are So Beneficial We Have To Enforce Them At Gunpoint

        • “belling”? You need a spell checker. Or to get past 5th grade English.

Last time I checked the White House belonged to “us”, the people of the USA. If that makes you uncomfortable or you want to split up the USA because you didn’t get your way then you need to leave.

      • Ha ha, what? DailyKos circa 2005 called, and it wants its lexicon back. You’re far more likely to be murdered by your own government than by a civilian gun owner, racist redneck teabilly (or whichever other derogatory term works for you) or not.

As for your “lawfully and popularly elected government”, your man Obama is just as bought and paid for by corporations, unions, special interest groups, and media establishments as any other candidates have been in recent memory.

For the record, there is nothing benevolent about supporting a government that uses men with guns to redistribute private property and deigns to call itself “compassionate”.

      • @”prog” You do realize that liberals are generally opposed to individual gun ownership, correct? And I noticed you used “Reichwing” as reference to the Nazis, the German National Socialists, who on a general political scale is actually considered left-wing of center.

        • yea my godwin alarm went off as well, Ironic isnt it that the socialists/progs want to call others nazis, I just assume they dont know what National Socialism is.

        • Calling something socialist does not make it so. There was nothing ‘socialist’ about the Nazis. They were fascists by another name. Socialism does not call for genocide. Leftists do not call for genocide. In the case of Germany, they called for the state to take ownership of everything, not for the people but for the powers of control. Much like we have here in America, where the ruling class is taking control of public lands to provide to the wealthy, the opposite of what socialism purports to be. Russia, today, is an oligarchy, and they do not suggest otherwise. America today is an oligarchy, but we pretend we still have a representative democracy. So, yes, we are going very much to the right, no different than the Nazis or the Fascists. Power is leaving the people and being deposited on the oligarchs.

      • Hey, I congratulate them too. If they want to put a burr under Shannon’s blanket by ‘open carrying’ in Dallas, that’s fine by me. I just don’t want to hear that I don’t, or shouldn’t, have the right to do the same. So where are you on that one?

    • Well, all I can say is that one day preceding this post, I said to a friend that the notion of black people having the RIGHT to bear arms, and having them exercise that right in the same obvious way the white militias do, would turn the whole 2nd Amendment thing around. I also suggested that the NRA, which promotes the notion that children should be taught about guns before being allowed to graduate lower grades, should step up and say that every black person, man or woman, should be armed to protect themselves against a tyrannical and racist police force. And lo, I see so many here trying to distance themselves from Black people having and exercising the same rights they ascribe to. Using the name of Huey Lewis is no different than using the many names associated with the KKK and other white racists. What’s the diff?

      • As I recall, Reagan was waiting for gun rights organizations (NRA) to object prior to signing the legislation. Since there was no objection even after asking, the legislation was signed. There were failures by many.

      • Reagan also supported the machine gun ban, “cop killer bullet” ban, and the AWB. He was right on alot of things, too bad he didn’t follow his own small government rights of the people rhetoric in this regard.

        • Which is why its important to judge people (and politicians, who occasionally resemble people,) by their actions, not their words.

      • I know it’s not really substantive, but I do recall when RR and then-President of Mexico Lopez-Portillo exchanged gifts. L-P gave Reagan a saddle, I believe, and RR gave El Presidente a lever-action rifle–and the lefties, of course, went ape-guano over it.

        • Mere optics of the sort that had the RKBA crowd of the time eating out of Reagan’s hand, regardless of his actual record.

  2. “The recent murders of unarmed black, brown, and whites across the United States of America…”

Err, why not just say “people?” As a (mostly) white man, maybe I can’t really understand what it’s like for black Americans. I try to keep an open mind about that. All I know is I try to judge people as individuals. Perhaps that opener was meant to be inclusive, and if so I appreciate the sentiment.

OK, that aside, I support their right to bear arms without reservation. Against any threat, even the main threat which somehow didn’t make their list (viz., criminals).

    • Hmm, I wonder why “criminals” didn’t make their list of threats. They must all live in really low-crime communities.

    • They probably listed different ethnicities to avoid the whole “what do you mean by ‘you people’?” discussion. If they hadn’t, it would be a near certainty that someone would try saying their activities were just blacks trying to intimidate people or some such nonsense. You know, exactly what they say whenever OCT goes through a ‘black’ neighborhood.

  3. Take the race card out of it and I could be on board. Just being a gun rights supporter means you are an oppressed person in this country.

But I am quite feed up with seeing the police pointing the guns at unarmed protesters. These would probably be the same cops who criticize open carriers with long guns slung on their backs. If you are afraid of a bottle hitting you then take off the tactical gear and put on something called “riot” gear. I am not saying you can’t have your gun but you should follow the same rules as everyone else- don’t unholster or point unless you feel your life is in danger and you intend to shoot.

  4. 1) pissed they didn’t invite me, Soul Brother #1

    2) they need to decide on their editorial policy – either capitalize black or brown or not. Consistently. Maybe hire a PR maven. I hear (hope) a Mom Against may be available soon, although we are working on her love for the homies

    3) you have to wonder if this is really a DOJ plot under AG Holder sorta like COINTELPRO was under Hoover against MLK. It is too convenient that New Black Panthers show up, with guns, and stating concerns about whites getting killed by the po-po after Pres Barry Hussein Obama Soetoro complained about guns in Ferguson. Just sayin

  5. “Russia (for example) is going to care too much about American cops brutalizing the local citizenry.” I lol’d at this…if our journalists experienced some of the stuff I’ve seen Russian cops do to people they would run for their lives…they dont play around

  6. Come on, you Open Carry Texas folks. This is a much better cause than taking Chipotle Ninja photos with your AR at the low ready. Join up with these folks and give our “public servants” something to think about.

    • You think this’ll go differently than their meeting with Quinnell X? These guys’ open carry of long guns has as much in common with OCT as does Al Qaeda’s open carry of long guns.

      • How do you figure that? The right to keep and bear arms needs no further reason.

On that basis, all OC is exercising the same basic right.

Your comment smacks of the “need” argument, as in they have a good need, OCT does not. Whether that was your intent or not, I reject that premise.

2A does not say, “Right to Keep and Bear Arms in ways a bunch of guys on the Internet approve shall not be infringed.” Thank goodness.

  7. How 60’s radical of them. The new black Panthers? Black Muslims? And now we have recycled hippies in charge. This is NOT gonna end well…

      • I don’t think he was referring to them in the same group. I think he was talking about the Black Panthers and the Nation of Islam separately.

        • As an OFWG with a beautiful black wife I sure as hell know the difference. My dead brother in law was an actual black panther. He almost got shot by Chicago cops with Jeff Forte and Bobbie Rush. Many of these guys were Muslims with X in their names(well half assed Muslims). My wife has relatives who are so-called muslims. Whatever you get it- the other guy is cluelessLOL…BTW I agree with Dirk on this one.

        • There’s also a difference between the Black Panthers (of yesteryear) and the New Black Panther Party.

Don’t recall ever hearing this out of the original BPs.

          NSFW:

  8. I’m not on board with them (at this time) regarding the shooting in Ferguson. Based on what I’ve heard so far it very much sounds like a good shoot. That aside I’m very glad to see these guys standing up for their rights and for their people. I would gladly march along side them if I had the opportunity to do so.

    • Indeed.

I hope as this progresses, they see who it is that is really out to disarm, and otherwise neuter, them.

      It ain’t us OFWG RKBA-ers.

    • Indeed – now lets here the NRA publicly say the same. I think that would put the last couple of RPMs on the libby head-spin.

  9. Attention all those suffering from “white guilt”…the term “African American” was not mentioned once in the press release. Black, brown and white people was and is an acceptable term. Besides…African American Panthers sounds like an episode on Animal Planet and not a political group.

  10. People willing to die and kill to protect their community. This could eliminate the entrenched gangs who are willing to die and kill to sell drugs. No police force has ever effectively impacted drug trade. Let the Revolution begin.

  11. Wait. Why was the moment with the cops in the restaurant tense?

Did someone (either side) escalate, or act escalate-ish? Or did both groups pretty much ignore each other?

    What happened? Something? Nothing?

  12. Yeah, if only poor Mike Brown was armed it would be that white racist pig who was put in the ground. /sarc

Do any of you know who Huey P. Newton was and what he stood for?

All this praise makes me think of a scene in Cabaret. “Let the Nazis take care of the Communists and then we will take care of the Nazis.” How did that work out for you?

      • I would support their right to OC just like anyone else. They don’t forfeit their right to free speech and hold unpopular opinions just because they are openly armed. I would support the Communist Party USA so far as their right to bear arms and speak their minds. (I hate communism and socialism, BTW.)

        • I would celebrate their actions but not necessarily all of their words if their actions were the bearing of arms in public in support of the individual RKBA.

        • Yes, the KKK and the communists have civil rights even though both would toss the constitution and set up a dictatorship. Supporting their rights is one thing cheering them on is unacceptable.

        • Got news for you honky, you can cheer them on all you want but I wouldn’t recommend that you show up at their rallies because they will whup your honky @$$. It would be like Robert F. showing up at a Nazi Party rally in 1931 to show his support for their right to participate in the German electoral process.

        • @tdiinva: Your assumptions make you appear foolish.

I’m non-white (but I look “white enough”) and my oldest attended undergraduate aided by a minority scholarship (wasn’t much money but it really helped). I and a few others were instrumental in integrating the citizen militias of southern Ohio in the 1990s. I have Hebrew roots. When I began, I trained along side bona fide Neo Nazis and White Supremacists. The Spotlight was commonly passed around during meetings and The Turner Diaries was suggested reading. I’ve had rifles locked and loaded, trained on me. I’ve been threatened and ridiculed. Jews and blacks were the reason for all of our nation’s woes in the minds of some of these individuals then. It took time. It took courage. It took patience. Eventually, the militias became inclusive. Such discriminatory viewpoints were discouraged at meetings and trainings. Much of the same people remained and we gained more. It wasn’t all butterflies and roses but things changed for the better. Loosely leading the unorganized militias of Ohio was James (J. J.) Johnson; a highly intelligent black man. He used humor, patience, and reason to effect change. He was asked to appear on the Phill Donahue (?can’t remember exactly which show?) and, as a surprise to him, they roomed him with a Neo Nazi in the hotel. Both men sat up most of the night finding ways to put their differences aside in the cause of Liberty. The drank beer and ate pizza. They got along fine. On the show the next day, they tried to bait both men into argument and fighting. They discussed things in reasonable ways. They even defended each other. The show never aired but, by contract, J.J. received a copy which we all viewed when he returned to Ohio.

        • @tdiinva: Well, that’s your opinion. I wanted to effectively change the world around me into something that I believed to be better and closer to the potential of the more positive side of mankind. Sure, I could’ve just sat around, bitching and moaning, or whatever. But that wasn’t my style. So, I put my own skin in the game and did what I believed was right. There were rough times and there was risk. But, I can look back now without regret because I made genuine effort to do something worthwhile.

It’s really a wonder that I haven’t dropped all my ideals, because they seem so absurd and impossible to carry out. Yet I keep them, because in spite of everything, I still believe that people are really good at heart. — Anne Frank

      • Considering that most gun freaks are T-baggers, and T-baggers are just the latest marketing ploy for Klan types, you betcha they’d be proud.

    • Huey Newton may have been the reincarnation of Adolf Hitler himself.

That doesn’t mean that these individuals shouldn’t have the right to carry.

      • There isn’t much difference in attitudes between Huey Newton and Ollie North other than that one was white and worked within the establishment and the other was black and didn’t have that opportunity.

        • Any unarmed people are slaves, or are subject to slavery at any given moment.
          Huey Newton

Sometimes if you want to get rid of the gun, you have to pick the gun up.
          Huey Newton

    • Curious what your thoughts are on say Thomas Jefferson? If you’ve ever actually read his memoirs you’ll understand this is not at all a trick question. Political ideology aside, when it comes to views regarding race, we tend to be very forgiving of some and not at all of others.

  13. All I can say is, goose/gander.
If they want to conduct platoon sized patrols errrrr demonstrations in their neighborhood, I don’t particularly care. I don’t like that they’re organized by race though. Statistically, the threat to African Americans comes from other African Americans.

    • Well they’re not patrolling white neighborhoods. I think they’re well aware of where the threat is.

I say good on them. When the police aren’t any help you’ve gotta help yourselves.

  14. I am 1000% behind a group of African-Americans exercising their 2A rights to keep and bear arms.

However, I’m going to remain neutral on a group of blanks chanting “Black power”, just as I’d be less than thrilled to embrace or support a group of whites chanting “white power”.

    Sorry, Robert.

    • Ethnonationalist tribalism is healthy. We should be able to govern our own communities as we see fit, and prevent interference from outsider groups that seek to undermine our right to self-determination.

        • Diversity + close proximity = violent conflict

It took the reign of Tito to keep a lid on that powder keg.

      • I get what you mean, but at the same time, when does ethnonationalism begin to border on finding a different minority group to persecute? Sounds like an episode for some tribal warfare, we dont like these guys over here etc.

Being able to proudly identify as part of a group is different than continuing to isolate yourself based on race, at least to me, having spent a significant part of my life doing just that.

+1 to what theyre doing and -1 to what theyre saying imho.

  15. So the Black Panthers…a quasi Islamic militant group is forming an armed group of citizens for the common defense of the neighborhood?

So black Islamic militias are cool….but all other militias are bad. Particularly if they are white folk.

The hypocrisy of the left if staggering.

    And then there is this:
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iGTUcS-yQtQ

  16. This is good, my fellow gun guys.

Being a YTWG (young thin white guy), I support the cause for everyone to enjoy shooting, and I don’t give a dam what color you are.

And just think, there was no looting, rioting, smash-and-grabs, et cetera.

Trash comes in all colors, just like good people come in all colors. Everyone should enjoy shooting.

Hmmm… EVERYONE should enjoy shooting, the right to carry, and so on. How PRO-GUN of me.

    • Exactly. The shooting ranges in South Florida these days are a great example of what you mention.

Young, old, fat, thin, guy, girl, black, white, Asian, Hispanic, straight, gay, lesbian, neutral, and so on. The more people (safely) handling guns and enjoying shooting sports and self-defense, the better. We need all the help we can get in the pro-2A arena.

Heck, one of the biggest ranges in the area (Nexus) is owned by an Asian doctor.

  17. Good. The BOR belongs to everybody.
I just hope these “Panthers” are of a pre-cointelpro variety and not the post faux Panthers who so commonly roam these days. The faux Panthers are a bunch of whining statists who rival Jackson and Sharpton in race/tragedy pimping.

    • Panthers that I have met in the past use the Jackson/Sharpton opening but really know what hucksters they are. To me, this isn’t dissimilar to others who believe that we must “win those in the middle” to our side. In the case of the aforementioned individual Panthers, the end justifies the means and the “middle” that they perceive are black and liberal white. I don’t agree with the methodology employed but that’s the way I’ve understood it. They don’t care how the fire starts as long as it starts and public perception is in their favor.

  18. There are several problems with the statement from Huey P. Newton Gun Club listed in the article:

    1) You can’t say that the police murdered Mike Brown yet, any more than you can say it was justified, because a judge and jury have not presided over the case yet. You’re rushing to judgment before you know all the facts. Should’ve said “the recent suspected murders.”

    2) You’re rushing to judgment on the entire police force when you say, without equivocation, that “individuals across the nation have been stripped of due process, subjected to … police terrorism, and continue to suffer the face of being terminated extra-judicially.” You’re basically telling everyone the police are 100% untrustworthy, and that the listener should infer that one should not listen to them, or worse, attack them. Hopefully, every police officer with the money and lawyers to do so should immediately sue you for libel/slander. You’re putting the lives of police officers, the vast majority of whom do not do the things you accuse them of, at risk.

    3) By therefore forming this entity, your sole existence is to defend against or attack the police, which is not only formation on false premise, but dangerous. If you do this, and you lash out without provocation, or while misguided, you could identify yourself as a domestic terrorist organization. Be warned.

    4) So you’re going to conduct armed patrols through your communities in response to … what? To something happening thousands of miles away? Which implies that you’re willing to fire upon police? See how this can escalate quickly?

    5) You assert the right of people to bear arms, but those rights already exist and are listed. So you’re not discussing our rights, you’re asking people to carry guns. That’s legal and good, but when it includes hostile language, it sounds more like a call to war, which is dangerous.

    6) You demand that the media and police stop assassinating the character of victims subject to police terrorism. First, the police aren’t perpetuating terrorism. The few that have lost their cool in Ferguson, for instance, have been dealt with. They’re not used to large angry mobs and molotov cocktails: do you blame them for not being used to being targets?

Second, you say “stop assassinating the character of victims”, but your own statement assassinates the character of police officers everywhere. And why? Because you don’t like the statements of the Ferguson police? It’s funny how this whole scene of people who stand by Michael Brown likes to say this a lot. Without judge and jury and a verdict, we can’t assume Mike Brown is guilty any more than he is innocent. However, your crowd (i.e. the multi-racial group of people who assumes Mike Brown is innocent even though they’re sitting thousands of miles away from the event, and weren’t there when it happened) was assassinating the character of police everywhere because they weren’t “putting the information out” and even demanded a private autopsy. The private autopsy showed the victim was shot from the front, which resulted in either your crowd denying it or then quietly passing over that little bit of info. Now that the police have stated (but again, we have not proved in a court of law) that the police officer was violently beaten, your crowd is up in arms again. Why? “Assassinating” his character? You’re unhappy when the police aren’t saying anything, but when they do, you don’t like what they said. Sounds sort of hypocritical to me.

Your organization is hypocritical. You ask police to stop assassinating the character of Mike Brown, but you’ve already rushed to assassinate the character of every police officer in our country. Shame on you.

    • Robert,

I am going to make a simple statement of fact:
There are bad apples everywhere … regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, occupation, education, family structure, income, body mass index, height, weight, etc. That means there are bad apples everywhere who are law enforcement officers.

Now that we got that out of the way, here is the meat of the problem. The job of police and our criminal justice system is to gather evidence, arrest, and bring to trial bad apples. The major problem: that rarely happens when a police officer is a bad apple. To make matters worse, many cops actively violate their oath of office to the Supreme Law of the Land — our United States Constitution — and proactively harass, assault, and arrest people whose only “crime” is being armed in defiance of some legislature.

The simple fact of the matter is that police officers all over the United States are ruining people’s lives without legal justification and they rarely face proper, fair, and just legal consequences for it. That is what people despise. That is what the Huey P Newton group is protesting. That is what the contributors and commenters on this forum are often condemning. Are we condemning ALL police officers? No … just the bad apples.

  19. This is the thing that scared the **ap out of California politicians and began the erosion of gun rights in the state. The reaction to minorities who strongly believed they were being wronged by authority and started carrying guns patroling their own neighborhoods. (If I receall correctly even carrying weapons into the state captial building at one point).

  20. Looks like the Dallas Panthers took a look at Quantrel X’s comments and realized he’d positioned himself in the wrong way. Instead, they effectively aligned themselves with Texas Open Carry. Now, if they’re really smart (and I seriously doubt they’re up to it), they’ll start making common cause with TOC or Tarrant County OC (who probably aren’t up to it, either) and then—who knows—maybe both with make common cause with the militias.

While the politics of the groups are different, they share overlapping issues. In social movement theory this is called “frame alignment” and it’s something The Left is very good at. I’m afraid my anarchist roots are showing. Politics makes strange bedfellows.

  21. I like all of this upheaval. Who’s the good guy, who’s the bad guy? Who knows? Who cares. People are hunkering down one way or another and figuring out that they need to be self-reliant, questioning a lot of assumptions.

This all provides a great reality check for people who think the fundamental principles of the bill of rights are “outdated”.

    • Yep. People awakening to the necessity of the individual RKBA to individual Liberty is a crucial first step towards re-securing respect for individual rights in government. Pressure on the top through political action and pressure from the bottom through thel exercise of rights on the street have great potential to derail this statist train without violence and blood shed. Voting alone won’t do it. One demographic alone won’t do it. It’s going to take a wide sampling of America. Restore government respect for the authority of the Constitution and then sort out the details.

  22. What a bunch of clowns, I wouldn’t be surprised if there was a negligent discharge about to happen. Actually, it kinda looks like there already were a bunch of “negligent discharges” around twenty years previously.Reminds of my first hour of boot camp, right after we got off the bus, when I joined the service, except we looked a little more professional.

  23. How inspiring, perhaps I’ll start a similar group with my own people. Now to whip up a mission statement…

We assert the right of the people, particularly white ones….

No, that’s not going to work…

  24. When these guys started yelling “Black Power!” my first thought was “Well that makes them look dumb.” and followed closely by “Good thing these guys are not white. If a bunch of white guys with guns got together and started yelling “White Power!” peoples would lose their minds.”

    • “If a bunch of white guys with guns got together and started yelling “White Power!” peoples would lose their minds.”

      Lose their minds mocking them.

  25. I do believe that Shannon or one of her media clones asked the very question “what do you think would be the response if a bunch of New Black Panthers or other similar groups armed themselves and had an open carry rally?”…. welll we now have the answer, absolutely nothing was done. Funny how people, regardless of color, are able to responsibly exercise their rights like that.

This is one of the better news stories I have seen today. OCT should look these guys up and have a joint rally. Then watch Shannon and the MSM spin around like tops looking for some way to continue the OFWRacist Meme.

  26. I fully support their right to open carry and their right to defend their communities. I do not support their threats of violence nor the divisive rhetoric.

  27. +1 for their actions, -1 for the rhetoric.

Ironic that this week Sheila Lee Jackson was babbling on about how an OC walk in Houston would be stopped by the community. Wonder what she thinks about this?

I dont subscribe to the white guilt narrative either, but then again imho its just some other PC bullshit designed to make you feel bad for being who you are, instead of empowering yourself and forming your own thoughts.

  28. “Anyway, it’s always good to see people arming themselves against oppression and tyranny.”

With shouts of black power and justice for Michael Brown, I’m seeing only vigilante wannabes trying to intimidate the public. If these people gave a damn about opposing tyrants, then they would carry on a regular basis and encourage others to do so in defense against the tyranny of criminality represented by the likes of Michael Brown.

    • “they would carry on a regular basis”

      Do we know they don’t?

I understand the point of the rest of your comment, and it’s a good one. Just wondering that the spark has to start somewhere.

      • Unless I’m in their bedrooms every morning as they ready for the day, it’s pretty much impossible to know for a fact what their daily carry habits are. However, we can draw some reasonable conclusions based on what we do know.

For starters, we do know that only a fraction of licensed concealed carriers carry on a daily basis. There’s nothing to indicate this group is 180 degrees out of sync with that norm and carries with any serious regularity. Second, some of them aren’t even carrying a firearm at this event. If you don’t even show up to your own happy fun time, exciting, open carry media event with a rifle easily in hand or gently slung over your shoulder, how likely is it that you’re carrying an uncomfortable hunk of concealed carry metal around with you in private on a regular basis?

Finally, these are people who are going out of their way to proclaim black power and justice for michael. They’re not demonstrating of in favor of routine armed self-defense, which has nothing to do with black power or the brown case. They’re staging an angry, impromptu and racist protest against “the Man” and “the System” in general and in support of a vicious, brutal criminal. That, my friend, is pure powder keg. The last thing we need near it are sparks.

    • Said from the perspective of someone who hangs their hat on white privilege. Your type excuses the Zimmermans of this world for gunning down unarmed black children. What you fail to grasp is that the black folks want to defend themselves from rednecks like YOU as well as from your common enemy, the cops.

      • “Your type excuses the Zimmermans of this world for gunning down unarmed black children.”

Here’s where you lose support for any claim you make. The facts of that case don’t fit your narrative. It’s called “cognitive dissonance.”

There are examples you could choose that fit the point you are trying to make. Zimmerman-Martin is not one.

” What you fail to grasp is that the black folks want to defend themselves from rednecks like YOU as well as from your common enemy, the cops.”

If a redneck is attacking you in some way, more power to you, same as if the attacker is black. In other words, it is the “defend” part of your comment that matters, not the race of the attacker or defender.

  29. 2. We assert the right of the people, particularly those of color, to bear arms and protect themselves where local, state, and the federal government have historically failed to do so. Well, that would be the public at large.

    • How often have T-Baggers and their associated ammosexuals offered to compromise and get along with those who have different beliefs? Never?

Likewise, the Panthers tend to be Muslim. How often do you hear calls to eradicate Muslim influence? That is practically an hourly rallying cry among the unwashed reichwingers these days.

      • The NBPP is a documented racist separatist group which has been disavowed by the foundational members of the original BPP. It wins this gold star from the same organizations that watchdog other racist groups like the kkk.

That said, I support their right to be armed, even if they wouldn’t’ support my right to exist. I am neither a “teabagger” nor a “ammosexual”. If your argument is “other people are just as bad”, you have no argument.

  30. Huey Newton, racist, terrorist, drug dealer, pimp, rapist, murder. Great name for a gun club. So are People of the Gun now into the gangsta’ life style? That will not end for y’all. Likely to get the Trayvon Treatment.

    • You mean shot to death by some socially dysfunctional racist redneck? It seems to be pretty obvious that they are trying to avoid that fate. Also to live free enough that they don’t have to live in the shadow of crackers like you telling them what is acceptable dress and lifestyle as seen through the eyes of a conservative ammosexual.

  31. Just so we can claim it’s still the TTAG site, is that a hi-point carbine with a fore grip on the left?

If so, silk purse and sow’s ear comes to mind.

  32. “The recent murders of unarmed black, brown, and whites across the United States of America has eradicated trust in the police.”

What no yellows? Is he implying that Asians don’t get murdered…because last time I checked, they are just as much of a target as any other race. Speaking of which, any idea what to do for self defense if you’re going to a university is LA?

  33. Is it possible that the NBPP is trying to align itself with this gun club for the purpose of making a dime or two off the club’s press exposure? It happens. Regardless, they could march down my street. Not too keen on the club’s name, although I get it. I wonder if they have a chapter in Chicago. Chicago could use some help.
