Presumptive Democrat Party candidate Joe Biden has released The Biden Plan to End Our Gun Violence Epidemic (you’ll have to click through the contribution request to get to it) which reads like a plan for total civilian disarmament.

Features of the Biden scheme include banning the sale of guns and ammunition online, mandating that only 100% smart guns be sold, limiting a purchaser to no more than one gun per month to stop “stockpiling,” banning rifles and standard capacity magazines, banning so-called “ghost guns” and home builds, and forcing people into a government “buy-back” or registration of some scary rifles and magazines.

My question for presumptive candidate Biden and his handlers is how do you expect to enforce this gun grab? Via the police? Since the party is making its own calls to defund and in some cases eliminate police departments, how likely is that to be an option?

Perhaps Uncle Joe plans to deploy the rising paramilitary wing of the Democrat Party, the one we see terrorizing neighborhoods in Portland and elsewhere. This might not sound so crazy at the moment given the current climate of violence and lawlessness. Is it a leap to foresee or conclude that violence will be used against us in order to get our guns?  In the current climate, we likely agree it is not totally unforeseeable.

Just like the other 22,000+ gun control laws already on the books, each and every component of Biden’s plan will be dodged by criminals and broken over the backs of the good guys.

For starters, government “buy-backs” are a misnomer. The government can’t buy back something that never belonged to it. Additionally, when many local governments and police departments are transferring in firearms at these so-called “buy-backs, they are violating state and federal laws by failing to complete the required transfer paperwork and background checks. Have you ever noticed that?

Additionally, Biden calls for the registration of all firearms under the proposed plan. Registration serves one purpose and one purpose only: confiscation.

Next up, Creepy Joe proposes mandating 100% sales of “smart” guns at some point. Smart guns have been criticized for a multitude of reasons, including the failure of the technology and their unreliability.  In 2014, a hacker experimented with $15 worth of magnets, completely bypassing the radio signal on the Armatix IP1, by a German manufacturer, causing the gun to fire.

If smart guns are so smart, why aren’t the police and military using them? We’ve all had our smart phones fail, cars that won’t start or some other technical problem.  Just one of several reasons why smart guns are a dumb idea.

Most dangerously — and likely the reason Biden and the Democrats want to force this technology on the people — the government could simply shut them off (depending on the technology used) leaving you totally defenseless. It is possible that the government could use that capability to instantly shut down your use use of guns in a certain area via technological means, electromagnetic pulse, etc.

Another gem in Biden’s gun-grabbing proposal is banning online sales of guns and ammunition, which violates the concept of Interstate Commerce grounded in the Constitution, But we all know there isn’t a section of the Constitution Democrats aren’t willing to violate if it furthers their agenda.

Tragically, banning online sales of ammunition will disparately impact the disabled who find it difficult to travel to a gun shop and carry boxes of heavy ammo into their homes. Disabled people need firearms and ammunition to defend themselves, too, arguably more than other groups, and Biden’s proposed plan would negatively impact them. Too bad their disabled lives just don’t seem to matter.

Disheartened by the lack of engagement and downright malfeasance shown by the Supreme Court in enforcing both the Heller decision and the Second Amendment itself, this country’s gun owners have serious decisions and consequences before them. The so-called “Fudds” can no longer stand on the sidelines and think this kind of overreach will never affect their shotguns or hunting rifles. That’s a delusion. These proposals will affect everyone.

That’s why it’s critical to become engaged and stay engaged. You must be informed and understand how candidates and their policies will affect the way you live, the way your children and grandchildren will be able to defend themselves against enemies, foreign and domestic. Time is of the essence and you cannot stay on the fence on this one. Join your state gun rights groups, social media groups local to you and become informed and educated while you can still make a difference.

    • If Biden tries to stop the sales of ammunition and guns, then the gun dealers should make sure that THEY stop selling ammo and guns to the poilice and Federal LE Agencies, who would have to enforce such anti 2nd Amendment laws. That little puke Beto O’Rourke was mentioned as Biden’s Gun Czar, tasked with disarming us all. He should be puton notice to expect a very unhappy life if he goes after the guns of law abiding, licensed people who have done NOTHING wrong to deserve to be singled out and disarmed and denied a Constitutional RIGHT.Beto has a criminal record. He couldn’t pass a background check and should not be allowed to be in Biden’s cabinent in any way. He is a criminal.

  1. I still don’t get why they would publicize this information before the election. Do they really think it will win over swing voters and not cause the loss of otherwise Biden votes? Even the anti-gun people I know think this is a bad strategy.

        • Will not be voting for Trump, he’s a traitor to America.

Possibly will vote for a Republican write-in, just like 2016. That’s even likely.

If Biden wins it’s right back to the same old thing. Fighting back against gun control in the House and Senate. Don’t like it but I am not a single issue voter and Trump is ruinous for this country.

People don’t like it? Well, you should never have supported trump in 2016, instead of an actual conservative. This is your fault, you were warned and you went ahead and flushed the bowl on the USA anyway.

        • Enuf, vote for whoever you want. That’s your right. Know that voting for anyone other than Trump or Biden is an effective non-vote at best. Sure, it allows you to sleep at night, and it allows you to say “Not my fault”, or “Not My President” and blame everyone else. That means you have taken absolutely no responsibility for your actions. It also means you took the cowardly way out.

The President is 1/3 of our Government, but more importantly, gets to nominate those that are in the another 1/3 of our Government (ie, the Supreme Court). Of course, this is no guarantee of anything (see Roberts).

As repugnant as Trump may be, as terrible as a two party system is for the general population, without tearing up the Constitution and starting over, this is the system that we have.

Trump hasn’t been nearly as terrible to the Country as you espouse. He hasn’t been a saint either. Blaming Trump on Race Riots which have occurred since at least the 1960s is pretty weak.

        • enuf,

You advocate not voting for Trump back in 2016 and allowing Hillary to become President because then we could have petitioned the House and Senate to dig-in and fight the inevitable push for more gun control laws. That course of action was guaranteed to have two inescapable outcomes:

          a) Democrats (riding on Hillary’s coattails) would have taken the House and Senate which would have had ZERO allegiance/incentive to resist additional civilian disarmament laws.

          b) Democrats would have installed two Far Left Justices on the United States Supreme Court and ensured a solid 5-to-4 (and maybe even 6-to-3 depending on how you view Roberts) Far Left majority in that court. Furthermore, Supreme Court Justices Ginsburg and Breyer would have retired and allowed Democrats to replace them with YOUNG Far Left Justices which would have guaranteed concrete Democrat control of the United States Supreme Court for the next 20 years. And Democrats would have installed hundreds of new Far Left judges in the lower federal courts.

Please explain how how those two outcomes would have significantly strengthened (rather than weakened) our inalienable right to keep and bear arms.

          Bonus question:

Since Trump did win 2016 and Republicans held the United States Senate, we now have two new Supreme Court Justices who support (to a fair extent) our inalienable right to keep and bear arms. If Trump wins re-election in 2020, then the following is virtually guaranteed:
          a) Republicans keep the Senate
          b) Ginsburg finally retires or dies of natural causes
          c) Ginsburg’s replacement supports our right to keep and bear arms
          d) The U.S. Supreme Court finally has a solid 5-4 conservative majority
          e) If we get really lucky, Breyer leaves the Court as well (definitely NOT guaranteed)

Please explain how we would be better off if Trump loses in 2020 and none of that happens.

        • enuf,

How is Trump screwing the United States any different from what any other politician would do as President?

Are you honestly going to claim that Hillary would have served our nation selflessly and far better than Trump?

        • “he’s a traitor to America”

So you’re still going with the Russian asset talking point? Didn’t you get the memo? It’s just racist for now.

        • Enuf’s vote will have as much significance as he does in life: a fart in a whirlwind.

        • Enuf not voting for Trump, depending on his his state, will have between zero and 1 in many millions of effecting the outcome. With those odds why shouldn’t he vote the way he wants?

        • Vic Nighthorse,

Candidates sometimes win “swing” states by only several hundred or a few thousand votes even though millions of people vote in that state. Regardless, no matter how small the margin of victory, the winning candidate gets ALL of that state’s electoral college votes. Thus, if that state ends up being the tie-breaker between two candidates for President, a paltry few hundred or even a few thousand people can ultimately determine who wins the Presidential election. That being the case, every vote counts — especially in “swing” states.

Second, millions of voters (like enuf) keep thinking that one candidate is a scumbag while the other candidate is somehow virtuous and wonderful and thus they will vote for that virtuous and wonderful candidate. Newsflash: all candidates are human beings and thus have major/serious flaws. Since both/all candidates are seriously flawed, why in the world would someone prioritize fake virtue and fake beauty over substance?

In this case the substance is self-evident:

Trump (a human and thus seriously flawed) was on duty and facilitated an unprecedented economic boon and successfully appointed hundreds of judges to federal benches who uphold our right to keep and bear arms.

Biden (a human and thus seriously flawed) was on duty and facilitated an unprecedented decline and stagnation of our economy and has endorsed a policy platform that will crush our economy, infringe on our right to keep and bear arms, and install Far Left judges to federal benches who will uphold any and every law that any local municipality, state, or even fedzilla passes to infringe on our right to keep and bear arms.

How do claims that Trump — even though he delivers on substance — is rude, crude, racist, or whatever compel people to support Biden who, although allegedly more polished and “Presidential”, will gut our economy and allow massive infringement of our right to keep and bear arms?

        • Vic Nighthorse,

I will summarize the whole dynamic with an analogy of a husband and wife staying at a hotel:

It sounds like people would much rather have a very nice, polite, pleasant, and good looking hotel employee deliver their room service — even though they know that nice employee will rape the wife while she is sleeping — than have an employee who is a rude, crude, and racist scoundrel deliver their room service knowing that he will NOT ever rape the wife.

I cannot wrap my head around people choosing the nice, polite, pleasant, good looking rapist who fails to deliver solid results over the rude, crude, “racist” scumbag who respects your rights and delivers solid results.

        • Thanks for the polite replies Uncommon. Believe me when I say I have given up on voting for someone I think is fit for the office. I believe you are right that a scumbag with better policy positions is better than a saint with bad ones. Listening to Joe Biden lie about how great he is like fingernails on a chalk board to me and I would want to put him in charge of absolutely anything. By comparison Trumps clumsy narcissistic rambling is quite tolerable to me. Joe Biden lost me a long time ago when he posited that being a politician was the most noble profession (I am paraphrasing of course) and kinda that he was the most noble politician, I don’t think Trump would go that far into absurdity. It is just that have very little fear that enuf’s vote will swing this election. Rest assured, that I myself am terrified of a Biden win and will vote accordingly.

        • Vic, maybe some day we get someone to vote for who is a truly sterling human being.

          Not this election. Oh well.

For now, the choice is between a guy who’s kinda gross, and maybe not someone I’d love to hang out with, and someone kinda gross who’s out to screw me over. To be explicit about it, I don’t particularly like Trump, but Biden is actively hostile to what I consider fundamental to the well-being of the country. I’d love a more inspiring candidate, but in the end, it’s not that hard a choice.

        • Steadily increasing GDP, decreasing unemployment, increasing wages, rebuilding manufacturing, and on and on, does not equate to “ruinous” in the mind of anyone remotely sane.

And uncommon, I like your hotel analogy, except for the complaint that if we’re talking about Joe Biden, he would rape the wife and then rape the husband, as well. No principles whatsoever.

        • Today’s GDP report was the worst ever. Yes, C-19 induced – the US has the most cases and deaths of any country in the world. Other countries are already on the other side of this as we languish. Texas and Florida are getting crushed economically right now. Can’t blame that on the Democrats.

      • These socialists ( Marxists ) live in their own little delusional world. They even think that we will get speeding tickets rushing to turn in all of our firearms willingly. After all, what could go wrong giving a government total control of everyones freedom. Venezuela ?

      • obviously they think gun control is a winning issue…Joe’s “lean to the left” is something he espouses…you’re choices are going to be pretty clearly defined this time…regardless of what you think of Trump….

      • enuf, before writing someone else in, please take a look at Jo Jorgensen who’s running under the Libertarian ticket.

      • Enuf says Trump is a Traitor. But like all Trump deranged he doesn’t provide specifics.

And from the official records both Obama and Eric Holder provided weapons to the enemy drug cartels. Is that Treason?

Or Hillarys giving Russia 20% of US Uranium reserves. Is that not treason?

Or William Clinton giving Chinese PLA US ICBM Nuclear Warhead MIRV secrets. Is that not Treason?

Oh I can go on for hours But There is nothing on President Trump that is substantiated and proven. Not even acts of Treason!

And the recent declassified documents are providing a wealth of information that would condemn Obama and his cabinet members to a hangmans rope for treason. These documents are the real deal, not something a dope head posted to Twitter. So if you have something verifiable and true about Trumps “Treason” lets hear them.

    • “I still don’t get why they would publicize this information before the election.”

They seriously believe the majority of Americans want that. Their echo-chamber, ‘bubble’, what ever you want to call it, is that tone-deaf to any opposing viewpoints.

And if they are elected, they will do it. There is no way anyone can stop me from voting Trump. Multiple times, if I could.

Their naked hatred, their seething contempt of Trump and us has no bounds. They will show up on election day. Angry people vote. We had better hope more of us show up than them or we are fucked.

(Another 5K of .22lr on the way. I’d get more 9mm, but I refuse to pay 40c/round…)

      • They simplly intend to steal the election

California vote-counting apparatus is proven to be corrupt and controlled – The powers that be threw millions of Bernie Sanders votes in the trash, so that Hillary would win the 2016 CA Primary.

That institutional level of corruption was proven in the ensuing lawsuit that showed evidence that it happened.

Then, we have states like Colorado and the others who recently decided to give their electoral votes to whichever candidate has the most votes tallied for them by other states. So, once CA and NY are “counted” (By embedded corrupt elements who are throwing out paper votes, who are using rigged electronic voting machines, who are filling out ballots for people who are unregistered and voting on their behalf), these states like Colorado will assign their electoral votes according to the whims of a corrupt element, effectively ending democracy and using a corrupt marxist machine to steal this election, and every election in the future.

    • Yeah I don’t understand it either. The only thing I can think of is there getting a ‘pulse’ of how people feel about it, with things being rewritten along the way if it’s too ‘out there’. But geesh this is blatant ignorance at its finest, this is literally the most hacksaw attack on gun rights I’ve seen in any proposal or plan of late. Don’t be surprised to see Michelle Obama as his running mate.

    • If they publish this and Biden is elected, which is very likely, then he has an implied mandate. “I said what I said now I’m going to do what I said.”

        • Prepare as if Biden will win, and be pleasantly surprised if Trump wins.

          That’s how I’m gearing my purchases…

        • Dude, Biden is leading by a huge margin in every poll. I watch no cable news, but I read a lot – mostly the WSJ and several solid political wonk blogs. Trump is almost certainly going to get crushed.

        • 62% of Americans are afraid to share their political opinions, and the effect is stronger the further right you go. Is it possible that polling could be skewed?

If a stranger calls and asks if you support the president, do you say yes? Do you say yes if someone else is in the house? Are you sure it’s really a pollster?

We’re living in a world where getting overhead saying the “wrong” thing can cost you your career. One of those “wrong” things that has gotten people fired is being a supporter of Trump. So, the phone rings: what do you say?

          https://www.cato.org/publications/survey-reports/poll-62-americans-say-they-have-political-views-theyre-afraid-share

        • Totally agree. Like most folks I avoid talking politics for the most part.

Look at the reception here. I’m conservative and generally support republicans (sometimes vote Libertarian). When I express that I won’t vote for a man who is probably the least popular president in history I got skewered.

To your more specific point, we’ll see in November. I’m pretty sure that the polls are off a bit, but not nearly enough to overcome the dislike of the President. Even Drudge is getting critical.

        • You need to review the polls from Nov. 8, 2016, before you begin using polls as some kind of evidence. Hillary was not only certain to win, but by an enormous margin. And less than 24 hours later she was totally crushed. She lost *80%* of the counties in America, yet polls said she was going to win huge.

And if you think Trump is unpopular, you live among some serious goofs. People regularly stop me to compliment my MAGA hat.

        • Lost 80% of the counties, yet won the popular vote. That is often conveniently forgotten. 2016 was as much a statistical fluke as anything. President Trump is much less popular now than in 2016. Going back to January of 2019 Trump has only out-polled Biden in a couple of times – out of thousands of polls.

As conservatives we’d be much better off to forget the presidential election (it’s lost) and focus on local and state elections. Saving the Senate would be a good start.

  2. Interesting story, unrelated but did anyone else get a laugh out of how fast they killed the comments section on the previous shill piece err… I mean Sponsored Content?

For anyone who missed it… expect offers for less than half of what the gun is worth on a good day if you chose to sell you guns to guns(dot)com, my personal experience was closer to 30%.

Hopefully Dan and company didnt strain anything tripping over themselves to kill it before too many other people posted similar experiences.

    • Yeah, my disallowed comment wasn’t even criticizing guns.com. Dan is clearly willing to help guns.com harvest money from desperate people. If they are desperate that quick money is more valuable to them and is may be worth it in their case but Dan’s cutting off people trying to tell the potentially fleeced that that isn’t likely the wisest way to get quick money shows us that Dan compromises with the advertiser over the desperate reader. You don’t have to be unethical to run a business but it is more work and less profitable in the short run to do so.

    • Yeah, my comment on that topic was that GunBroker.com has worked just fine for me buying and selling and I see no need to change. Now all comments are deleted, no more allowed.

This actually makes sense. It is a sponsored post, why leave comments open when you are being paid for a promotional?

Must have been an mstake, leaving comments open at first.

    • Enuf, I am more sympathetic with Dan than my comment may make it seem. I do have confidence in a free market where people are free to make suboptimal decisions, and selling to guns.com might even be optimal for some people. I suppose that making an ad look like a blog post even if it says “sponsored’ in smaller print rubs me the wrong way. Some people will be misled by not noticing small print disclaimers and I suspect that we all know that. I am not perfect either, in his place I might do the same, I don’t know though because I am not there.

      • Just can’t have the un washed, bitter clinging, deplorables commenting when it concerns a paid advetiser.

    • i’ve always had the impression selling guns to retail outfits was known to be a reasonable course of action only for people who really just want to get rid of a gun

I was liquidating my 45s a few years ago (i know, blasphemy) and i took one to the LGS just for the hell of it and the guy flat out told me “Unless you just want to be rid of it, sell it privately because we’re going to offer you way less otherwise its not worth our time”

    • I saw it, and I think the criticism was unfair. Of course they aren’t going to pay top dollar. They’re giving you the money up front and have to sell the gun to get their money back plus a profit for their work. It’s probably about what you’ll get at a pawn shop. Speaking of which, if you watch Pawn Stars, they’ll value something at $1k, and the person expects that instead of the $250 they’ll get offered. They’re not the end buyer and have been looking for your gun to complete their collection. They’re buying from you and planning to sell it for more as soon as possible. If you need the money today, maybe it’s worth it to you. If you want closer to retail value, advertise and sell it yourself or put in on consignment somewhere. It doesn’t matter if it’s guns, jewelry, vehicles, precious metal, or collectibles. Dealers will buy from you for a fraction of what they would sell it for.

      • Every time I have sold a motor vehicle (cars and motorcycles) I have been told by dealers that I would do better selling it myself. One of these days I’m gonna take some bullion gold coins to a shop claiming to buy gold, and see how close they get to a verifiable, published price. Just for curiosity.

    • Biden still has two huge obstacles before him…the popularity and acceptance of his VP pick…and the debates…things can change quickly…especially in a time of continuing civil unrest…

      • ” …and the debates… ”

Not going to happen. The Democrats know full well that this is Biden’s achilles heel, and they will not let him out of the basement to face Trump on a live stage. If they don’t use the COVID-19 excuse, I”m sure they will find something else, but the debates are not going to happen.

I hope I’m wrong about this.

        • You’re not wrong. There will be no debates. Excuses will be made, hands will be wrung, but debates will not happen.

        • We were told yesterday Biden would be present at the Lewis funeral, so far he has not made an appearance, though Bush, Clinton, and Obama seem to have made it, and spoken! Sure looks like an opportunity if he can put a couple words together.

  3. Any gun owner who votes for Biden is voting against guns. I have seen this idea expressed before for various elections but now it will be finally true. I do not know how he plans to enforce these new laws but it will not be good for gun owners or the general public. Guns must be confiscated before the Revolution is feasible. How far they go is anyone’s guess.

    • There has to be a balance. I mean if someone was for eating babies and pro 2A would you vote for them? Of course not – I hope.

This election is not that extreme, but President Trump is a racist. I’d rather give up my guns than have a racist as a president.

Your opinion may vary and I accept that, but none of us are one issue voters.

      • “I’d rather give up my guns than have a racist as a president.”

This commentator, TTAG reader, was paid to say that.

It’s a strategy they are using to get us depressed and not vote. You are going to see a whole lot of that here in TTAG, because TTAG is one of the leading voices on 2A Rights.

You’re going to hear bullshit like “I just can’t in good conscience vote for Trump…”.

It’s a psychological ploy to pollute us. Don’t fall for it, and if you see anything like that from here on out, respond to it with a warning like this…

        • Because…if anyone disagrees with pro 2A at all costs they are paid?

Not paid at all. Former US infantry – have a rack of medals. Have a safe full of guns of all types. Love to shoot. Have a G26 next to my bed and a K-Bar under the mattress. Would defend my home to the death.

Can’t stand President Trump. Would vote for damn near anybody else. I don’t like it, but this is the choice the Republican party made. Now it’s my turn to choose.

        • Most of us won’t in turn vote for a braindead buffoon, who doesn’t know his name or what day it is and more than willing to sell his soul at the drop of a hat.

        • His best friend is black. Bullshit. He’s a racist. He’s got a rack of medals. Bullshit. I’ve never seen a legit vet talk about his medals. A safe full of guns but he’s willing to give them all up to be rid of Trump. Bullshit, again.

        • All of the things I said are true. Sorry, I didn’t realize that there was a protocol when talking about awards. They are important to me. I don’t see why pointing out that I have a best friend who is black is either racist or not. It’s just a fact and I was trying to provide some perspective. With the former I was trying to establish some bona fides.

Regardless, it seems that you aren’t here for discourse but are here to throw rocks. I’ll leave that to you and antifa.

        • Yah keyboard kommando, I’m sure you have a “safe full of gunz”. And I’ll bet you have plenty of “black friends” just to signal your virtue. IOW you are a lying socialist that has neither gunz or black friends. Is Soros paying you or is the CCP? Go to hell asshole.

        • Whew, it’s like a broken record around here
          * you’re a liar
          * you’re being paid
          * you aren’t conservative
          etc.
          NONE of that is true.
As I said previously I’m a upper class white gun owning veteran. I’m libertarian, pro life, pro 2A. The Republican party has lost me for this election. That probably explains the responses. You are afraid. You should be – it’s going to be ugly for us all. Our 2A rights will be attacked. That’s what support for Trump has given us.

I am representing myself and trying to thoughtfully respond to each comment. Unfortunately most here are upholding the attitude that folks on the left have. Unintelligent discourse is an apt description of most responses.

      • “This election is not that extreme, but President Trump is a racist. I’d rather give up my guns than have a racist as a president.”

You Leftists did not say he was a racist until he ran for President as a Republican.

        • Not a leftist, but I wasn’t convinced that he was a racist until the “White Power” re-tweet. My best friend is black and he voted for Trump. Neither of us will do it twice.

        • “My best friend is black and he voted for Trump.”

          That cracks me up!

“My best friend is black…”…ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha… 😉

        • Yeah that’s a good one. What do the “experts” at NYT say about this?

The ‘Some of My Best Friends Are Black’ Defense

“The black friend as a buffer dates to the days of slave owners painting a false narrative that they were beloved by the African-Americans they subjugated.”

Sorry my man, looks like you’re a racist too! Join the club!
The article isn’t even labeled as an Op-Ed. It’s labeled as news analysis.

        • Uh, it wasn’t a defense at all. I don’t really need a defense here. I was just trying to provide some perspective. Actually, I’m quite surprised. Generally I think of conservatives as being somewhat thoughtful and enlightened. I’m generally conservative and consider my self quite pragmatic. I hate that this forum has devolved to the tenor of a President Trump tweet storm. That’s probably the worst thing about the last four years – the right has gotten downright dumb.

        • The trolls are particularly active as of late, almost like they have something to worry about.

      • When you don’t have a policy argument, just scream racist. Sure, why not? According to you fools, every white person is born a racist, which is the most racist thing anyone could say.

        • I don’t actually have much of a policy argument. But I feel there is more to being a leader than policy. Performance is one. He has totally botched the C-19 response.

President Trump’s time in office has not been good for this country. Remember the old line “Are you better off now than you were four years ago?” I’m pretty sure that most of the country can answer “NO!”.

        • “I don’t actually have much of a policy argument.”

They never do. It all about the Feelz.

“But I feel there is more to being a leader than policy. Performance is one. He has totally botched the C-19 response.”

Oh, I thought it was because he was a racist? I’m sure two years ago it was because he was a Russian asset. What was Joe’s brilliant plan for C-19 again? Other than to criticize Trump’s China travel ban as….racist. What a joke.

“President Trump’s time in office has not been good for this country. Remember the old line “Are you better off now than you were four years ago?” I’m pretty sure that most of the country can answer “NO!”. ”

Wrong again. The answer was a resounding, provable yes, as you know. Thanks to the Chinese virus and an overreaction to it by the “experts” and tyrannical governors, people are out of work. Weird thing though, where I live they can’t build houses fast enough before they sell. My retirement account still looks great. The economy is ready to come back with a vengeance which terrifies you guys.

        • the fuck are you talking about?!? Trump got the most done in 4 years than any president we ever had. economic prosperity and lowest minority unemployment numbers too.

        • “When you don’t have a policy argument, just scream racist. ”
Tthey have and now the word has no meaning.

      • Donald Trump is not a racist.

and the only people I have heard calling him a racist are the Black Supremacists, democrats, and lefties, who eat sleep and breathe bullshit.

        • In their defense, they call everyone that disagrees with them a racist. It’s all they’ve got at this point. They’re counting on getting black people to hate whites, and getting whites to feel guilty. Their plan for winning depends on tearing the country apart.

        • actually I WAS better off financially under Trump…and I suspect I have a lot of company…this pandemic was destined to wreck the economy no matter who was in the White House…and altering that will change nothing…all we can do is endure and hope for better times….

      • “Because…if anyone disagrees with pro 2A at all costs they are paid?”

No, they are a mealy mouth traitor otherwise.

“Can’t stand President Trump. Would vote for damn near anybody else. I don’t like it, but this is the choice the Republican party made. Now it’s my turn to choose.”

Hate the man myself but to vote on the other side is to vote for tyranny, oppression, and the destruction of all of our civil rights. F_ck off to some 3rd world shithole commie, lest you get put up against the wall along with the other seditious shit bags. Medals mean shit when you have clearly demonstrated your lack of character in indicating you will break your solemn OATH!

      • Your mentality toward this is flawed. You sound like a baby having a tantrum. ‘Trump bad, he say bad things mommy’….get over yourself. Open your eyes and see the bigger picture across the country and tell me we’re better off with a Biden?…your vote, like others like it, will be the end of the republic as we know it and you will look back with clear regret with your decision. Hope you have a good one

      • You have met a one issue voter now.

Interesting..how is the President a racist? Heck I might be one to based on your criteria.

        Please elaborate..

      • Biden is quite the racist himself. You can vote for him, lose your gun rights AND have a racist president at the same time. Lose-lose.

You can maybe get away with critical thinking being an 11banger, but you are in the real world now.

      • The thing that makes me sad about discussions here is that there is no comity. Almost every response has been personal and profane. It is attitudes like this will be to the extreme short term detriment of conservatism in the United States.

Trump will lose the election. The Republicans will lose the Senate. This would probably not be the case if the President would keep his yap shut and execute.

Similarly the discussions here would have more value if folks were open to new ideas. The 2A is not a right above all others. There are things that are more important – life, God, our collective conscience are just a few examples. If you vote for Trump because “GUNS!” despite the obvious downsides then that’s a problem. If you can’t see these downsides and are even unwilling to accept that someone else may disagree then you too are part of the problem and it’s going to be a rough four years.

        • Open to new ideas you say? Like giving up our rights you advocated for before?

Absolutely not without a fight to the very bitter end. Don’t like being spoken to in a profane manner? That is the very least offensive thing I am willing to offer the likes of you who would break their vow’s. You are an embarrassment to the uniform you once supposedly wore. Leave or pick up arms, makes no never mind to me which. I find your sniveling diatribes extremely offensive, giving away OUR rights because you are to much of a servile coward to face the task at hand.

FREEDOM is the issue, not guns! Arms are simply the tools in which freedom is gained and maintained. Or, the very vehicle by which they are lost. Without them, there is no hope, but go ahead and sell your progeny into servitude for your 30 pieces of silver. On pang of death will you or anyone else do the same to mine, or anyone else’s while I still breathe.

Now go lick your masters hand, and leave the adult discourse to the free people who will not abide the shackles you submit willingly to.

        • no, PC and forced self-loathing were to the detriment of the country. candid exchanges like this will be the salvation of the Republic, where at least one half of the population doesn’t buy that PC and self-loathing bullshit, which is supposed to lead to more votes for Democrats, right?

the Dems, libs, progs, lefties, BLM’s, ANTIFA, NFAC, white wimmenz wannabes, Louis Farrakan and Jesse Jackson, corporate weasels and so on, and their shills, can stuff it.

that counts for a lot of what got Trump elected last time, and boy-o-boy is it going to count for a lot this time.

all this rioting isn’t really about George Floyd, Black Rights or Baaaad Police. it’s really a gargantuan case of Trump Derangement Syndrome. it’s really because they want Trump out of office. some agitators took advantage of the death of George Floyd to cause riots, some Democrat politicians took advantage of the riots and let them or even encouraged them, and some transnational oligarchs took advantage of the situation by giving them cash support. and the various Black Rights people took advantage by going along with it, they don’t want rights, they want power, and they all want Trump out of office and that is why they are having a ball with this, to outlet their frustration.

things are going to be sporty in November whether Trump wins or loses. the dem/prog/lib/lefty/BLM/ANTIFA/etc will be bursting with aggravation, or bursting with vengeance.

        • @WilliamWallaceTheThird – you nailed it. William Wallace 2020!
@Scott – perhaps you belong in a different setting to discuss your feelings… these obviously aren’t “your people,” and you are barking up the wrong tree trying to convince them of your leftist propaganda. You believe you are a missionary among savages, but you are really a paid troll. Please focus on your day job at WaPo or NYT.

        • The irony is that losing voters like me is why Republicans will get destroyed in November.

I’m white, upper class, pro life, pro 2A, and a veteran. I’m probably more fiscally conservative than most here. We probably agree on most policy issues.

You can lay the loss of a lot of voters on Trump alone. Remember this in November. Trump and the nearsighted folks who followed him own this.

        • @Scott

You have no honor. All else is a purposed lie for sowing dissent. Anyone who would give their rights up so purportedly easily is either nothing but a mindless sheep, a shill, or other subversive agent. The amount of posts here by you is extraordinarily telling of which you are.

To amuse, look up Federal law on a person, agency, or group attempting to abrogate your civil rights, and the legal limits of what defensive action a person, and the people as a whole, may employ against them are. While you’re at it, look up the charges for subversion & sedition, and what punishments that are meted out to your sort. Nullification of the highest laws of the land that you seek, falls under the latter. What you’re doing here, is the former.

We should return to drawing and quartering for those that break their oaths to defend the Constitution. IF you were discharged from service, you might have noticed in no way did any of the documentation you signed state anything about releasing you from your oath.

All enemies Sir, foreign & domestic.

        • Here’s a quick civics lesson because you have it wrong.

My oath was to defend the Constitution. If the Constitution is amendment to repeal the second amendment and you keep your guns, it’s not me who is being seditious. Further, the Constitution is subject to interpretation by the Supreme Court. If the Supreme Court rules that it is legal to take away our guns, you’d be on the wrong side again.

I don’t want either one of those to happen. There’s absolutely nothing dishonorable about my position. You happen to disagree with my position. Fair enough.

        • The only one who needs a civics course is yourself. The Constitution is still in full effect, and YOU are supporting a traitor. A traitor who has repeatedly stated that HE WILL upon taking office, abrogate the 2nd Amendment in violation of law. POTUS has, and never will have the power to do so.

Therefore, supporting and colluding with who, in direct violation of his Oath of Office, has expressed in multiple video and audio quotes intent to wreak havoc on the Constitution. Which is also breaking your DD Form 4 Oath, and I quote; “that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States and of the State of (applicable state) against all enemies, foreign and domestic”.

Breaking your solemn word isn’t dishonorable? The mental gymnastics you employ trying to worm around to convince yourself otherwise is astounding. Here, let me break this down further.

The express purpose of the 2A is exactly that of this situation and many like it before now, this is the trigger for the use of the protections guaranteed within in it’s entirety. But of course you’ve never read the Federalist Papers and a myriad number of other documents our Founding Fathers wrote providing the answers of the intent of the Constitution & BoR have you? Learn 2 Civics outside of the public indoc camps schools.

You want DJT gone? Fine. So do I. I will NEVER renege on my Oath to defend the Constitution out of self indulgent, unable to see the big picture consequences, self centered spite. That is the cavernous gulf that separates the pious from the detritus.

If, and it’s a bit sad you can’t grasp reality.. If and when such time that a Constitutional Amendment Convention takes place, and aforementioned changes are passed into law, then that can be revisited. Until such time, this is nothing more than smoke you’re blowing to distract from reality. That simple truth is that you are off the reservation. Plain and simple. If you are ex-Mil, you know exactly what that means. The penalties for are very clearly detailed within written & settled law, and there is zero statutes of limitations upon violations.

So sorry your attempt to cast shade on the truth is quite transparent, and you’ve deceived no one but yourself. Bother yourself not with a reply, the only further response I have for a traitor includes the very maximum spelled out by law.

        • Whew – delusional. It’s an election. Biden isn’t going to do anything illegal. We may not agree with it, but the laws will be followed.

        • Oh, and did you actually read the source? I did. There’s nothing blatantly unconstitutional in it. He doesn’t propose to ban rifles like the article says. He proposes to make them NFA. I mean you’re Trump’s boy – he did that with bump stocks.

I do t agree with any of that, but your rambling about being a traitor is not supported by the facts here.

      • MY best friend is black…she’s voting for Trump. She is my wife of 31 years. You & your “rack of medals” are full of chit. Oh and my son is a war hero and works at DoD. He hates Trump but he’s my 1st born son so he gets a pass. You don’t Scott…

        • Bi-racial, first generation immigrant. I can’t wait to vote for him. Especially since the riots, and the deep, resounding stupidity of the politicians here in Seattle. He’ll lose Washington state, no doubt about it, but at least I’ll have my conscience clear.

      • Scott, how is Trump a racist? He’s done more for minorities than any president in the last century. The lowest unemployment rate in history for all minorities. The Dems have been racist since their beginnings. Pro slavery, pro KKK, enacted Jim Crow laws, created Planned Parenthood to kill black babies among other things.

        • @Scott
You call that evidence of racism? To the point of making an election decision?
The fella in the golf cart was barely even audible and folks are claiming what he said is why Trump retweeted that.
          Utter, nonsensical nincompoopery.

      • What evidence is there that he is trying to enact racist policies? Him retweeting, among thousands of others, a video that has a person respond to a taunt “Yeah, white power.” is not evidence that he is racist. Also a racist would only want to screw a smaller subset of the population while an anti-2A and anti-property rights politician endeavors to screw everyone except the governing and very wealthy subsets. If we loose the right to self defense and to resist the governments we become mere serfs. Whether or not you are lying about your medal salad is irrelevant in this debate. I don’t think that you are at all sincere Scott. You are lying to us. You sound like a HS kid.

        • Scott, I did “google” Trump white power tweet and got what I saw on the news. Without opinion, cloaked as news, Trump said “I love these people” referring to the residents of The Villages ,not to the unheard azzhole who shouted white power. If the news media didn’t amplify what that jerk shouted no one would have even been aware of it. The media doesn’t like Trump and do much to discredit him. If you nelieve that Trump is a racist then you may have been won over by the enemy.

        • Thank you for the thoughtful reply. That particular tweet wasn’t the only reason. There are many.
Another very recent example is the tweet about postponing the election. This is as blatantly, actually more blatantly, anti-constitutional than anything Biden has said. The right to vote is even more fundamental than the right to bear arms.

There’s no good choice here. I just happen to think that a second term Trump is much more dangerous than a first term Biden. At the very least Biden will have a re-election to mitigate any crazy.

      • ” I’d rather give up my guns than have a racist as a president. ”

Biden is ten times the racist that Trump is. We can start with “If you don’t vote for me, you ain’t black” and work our way back to the crime bills passed in the Clinton administration. The documentation is overwhelming that these laws have put more people of color behind bars — and continue to do so — for pretty much bullshit stuff. And good ol’ Jokin’ Joe is right out there saying he was the prime architect of it all.

Democrats are evil, and Joe Biden is one of the most evil of all.

      • Imagine still being this brain dead, after everything that has happened recently, to still be tricked by the trotskyist pilpul charge of “racism.” No matter what a White person does for these blm/antifa bolsheviks or any non-White person, from now on, they will ALWAYS be considered a “racist.” Stop letting yourself be brainwashed by our shit media.

Trump has bent over backwards for minorities in this country, while nearly completely neglecting his primary voter base (Whites), and instead of being grateful, they’ve only escalated their hatred for him and his base. Nothing he does will EVER satisfy them. They want this country and our existence erased.

      • Opposed by someone for eliminating RTKBA? Yes, I would vote for him, then work on preventing our new president from eating babies. Why would I not? That is a REALLY stupid argument, you probably should get it taken down before the guy paying you sees it.

Shit, look how many people voted for Hillary, and we all know she ate babies.

  4. From the page referenced :

“Joe Biden also knows how to make progress on reducing gun violence using executive action.”

You can use your imagination on that one…

  5. It’s all a 200 car freight train carrying steaming tons of bovine excrement! Covid panic, TP panic, gumball warming panic, internet panic, gun panic, political panic, war panic, crime panic, all of it!! Enough to drive a man to drink – at least the liqueur stores are still in business. I think I’ll pour me a shot or 3 right now.

  6. Joe Biden is not running for president. It’s actually going to be Kamala Harris. If biden is elected I believe in the very near future he would step down and Kamala would take over. And if you think that is going to be good for this country let alone gun owners you are out of you mind!

      • Joe’s a “front man”…think that’s pretty clear…he exists to gain the White House…after that his usefulness is at an end….

        • No doubt Creepy Joe will step down for health reasons about a year to 18 months after the election. Or he has a “medical incident” such as a heart attack, stroke (not that he or us would realize), for even a cerebral aneurysm that either kills him or severely incapacitated him. Failing these, plan 3 where he becomes the latest Democrat martyr and is assassinated.

  7. How in the world is limiting gun purchases to one per month going to stop stockpiling? Slow the process, perhaps, but stop it altogether?? I purchased a few boxes of ammo per month regularly for a few years, and the result is my impressive stack of lead & brass that would literally require at least two truckloads to transport due to the weight and size. Sometimes I like to climb atop the stockpile, face Sacramento, and pop open a beer to extend a toast to Liberty with a big smile. If I weren’t a Christian, there might be a middle finger added to that scene, but you get the point.

    • They’re looking to hurt the industry in general. The industry contributes to republicans, so democrats want to diminish their finances.

    • I purchase a gun maybe once every five years — if that. I’m just not into having a whole bunch of them laying around. I’d rather put the money into ammo and training for the guns I’ve got.

Purchasing one gun a month would actually be a radical increase for me, and for most of my friends as well. This is a bullshit proposal that does nothing but look good (to some) on paper.

  8. Fortunately UN Blue contrasts well with reticle black. However, BLM/Antifa feature black attire….buy illuminated scopes. It’s gonna be a TRE…target rich environment…..probably regardless of who wins in November.

  9. In your link to the plan, please remove everything from /?fbclid=IwAR0c... to the end.
That’s the tracking token Facebook adds to every link so they can verify propagation outside their walled garden.
    Leave only https://joebiden.com/gunsafety/

    • Thanks, I too was ignorant of this even though I have probably read it at least once before. There is so much to remember.

      • Privacy Possum plugin for Firefox and derivatives. Auto disables referrer’s in headers & tracking links so personal memory shortcomings are not a concern.

  10. Gun owners have to vote for Trump and even the backstabbing, cowardly, spineless Republicans in the Senate if they hope to keep their guns. Biden, if he also gets the Senate, will end the Lawful Commerce in Arms Act…which will allow anti-gun democrat party lawyers to sue gun makers and gun stores out of existence. Any gun maker or store that survives that…will then face the Department of Justice coming after them on trumped up charges, likely Civil Rights charges, to force them into consent decrees that will mandate them accepting all of the gun control the democrats want. Then, he will be the one replacing ginsburg, breyer and possibly Thomas…instead of Trump. Along with all the other judges at the federal level. The democrat party controlled states and cities will then pass every anti-gun dream they have, and the democrat party judges and justices will make them Constitutional..for ever…….and the biden, left wing supreme court will reverse Heller, McDonald, Miller, Caetano and all the other pro 2nd Amendment rulings that we have………if you want to keep the 2nd Amendment…you need to vote Trump, and you need to keep the Senate in Republican hands…….

    • Vote republican and then get with the Convention of States so we can reign in the out of control Feds. Our founding father built in this Art. 5 provision just for an occasion such as this.

      • Don’t think it’s been approached since Prohibition, when we were one state away, IIRC. I’ve been considering that possibility, as well.

  11. In a word: Marketing.
None of it is enforceable and they know it.
But they put it out there as a marketing strategy to make it appear he is for gun control, wants to do something, do it for the children etc. to get votes.

Now, some of the more radical loony tunes out there Congress types, they would try something, and expect some kind of compliance.

  12. Team,

No matter what you think of Trump, four more years of him appointing conservative, Constitutionally-based judges, will have a long-lasting impact.

    Trump/Pence 2020.
Hold the fort in the mid-terms (thanks, Haz! ).
    Ted Cruz 2024

      • Haley is pathetic, neocon trash. She’s just another war-mongering leftist, masquerading as a “Republican.” She’s a fitting ambassador to the UN, an equally less than useless entity.

The future of conservatism and the Republican party is someone like Tucker Carlson. It will have to be, or it will cease to exist.

  13. “My question for presumptive candidate Biden and his handlers is how do you expect to enforce this gun grab? Via the police? Since the party is making its own calls to defund and in some cases eliminate police departments, how likely is that to be an option?”

It’s coming, it’s already started, with Burn,Loot,Murder rampaging in the streets.
Stay calm, arm up and carry on.

    • I used to think that the police wouldn’t enforce the unconstitutional gun control laws they are wanting, but I have changed my mind. Look at the over reaching ” laws ” or edicts that the mayors and govenors have been instituting in some of these states and the cops are going right along enforcing them. They also pulled back and watched rioters do what they pleased because the mayor sais so while ignoring their oaths.

      • Depends on the level of compliance. All LEAs combined they have about 900,000 total, including administrative folks.

If compliance is low they can isolate people and go after them. If compliance is low but resistance is high they’ll stop quickly. Either when they realize the danger or when they’ve taken unsustainable losses.

The latter would be unfortunate but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s true.

        • they’ll just add the people they need…particularly for an agency like the ATF……

        • frank:

How does that work? Where do they get this number of people to do the replacing with? I mean, “let’s kick the ballistics here”. Yeah, this is the kind of shit I hate to say, but it’s the brutal truth. I’m in no way supporting what I’m about to say here, just pointing out the cold, hard numbers.

There are 19,495 incorporated municipalities in the US. If two people from each decide to “resist” and each one seriously injures two LEOs the cops just lost 38,990 people that’s 4.33% of all LE because two people per town decided to resist this and they haven’t even gone out into the country yet. In fact, all they’ve done is some small part of most cities/towns.

I mean, you run the numbers on this based on Gallup’s polling assumptions and you get the following:

          Population: 328.2 million
          % gun owners: 30%
          Gun owning population: 109.4 million.
          900,000/109,400,000 = 0.008.

So, IOW, if 0.8% of gun owners “resist” and each one injures or kills a single LEO, there are no more LEOs to enforce this. So, it takes less than 1% of gun owners who go “Twisted Sister” and LE is gone. Gone, none left. They’re all wounded or dead. I doubt they enforce it to the last person so, after 20% get the wrong end of a barrel they probably give up… how exactly does this whole thing work out in favor of confiscation?

Now, look at compliance rates thus far with the more extreme (not by the standards Biden is proposing but by current standards) measures states have taken. They get what, 4%?

OK, let’s run that and I’m not even going to stick to sig figs here.

Gun owners that comply: 4.37 million.
          Remaining non-compliant owners: 105 million
          900,000/105,000,000 = 0.00857

Now, if 0.86% of gun owners decide to resist cops LE is at 100% casualties. Still not even up to 0.9% of people need to “drop a cop” to have literally zero cops left.

This just doesn’t work and the cops know it, so does the Left, really. It’s all well and good to grab the occasional person with a no-knock but once people know it’s coming you’ve essentially lost the element of surprise and if you don’t keep that element of surprise and run essentially flawless operations better than 99.2% of the time you rapidly have 0 personnel left.

And if this happens how long before a few percent decide that the cops can’t be trusted and neither can the pols and start going after the DA’s and pols ordering this? In the words of RATM “How long? Not long”.

Confiscation is a pipe dream that requires compliance of 99.5% or better of all gun owners. Do you really think that’s going to happen? It’s not. This is why the “slow boil” method has been preferred but that shit’s dead now after CoV-2 and the riots.

Confiscation is exactly how the Left gets a civil war that it cannot win and I doubt most LEOs are willing to die on that hill for people they don’t even like.

        • An apologies, that should be “two people in each town resist and injure or kill ONE LEO a piece”.

  14. The Biden Plan was published on his campaign website prior to Oct 2019. I guess some folks are just now hearing about it or taking it seriously.

  15. The blood clot that finally kills this old fucker should be given a medal, and it’s portrait next to the one McCain’s tumor as examples of great American heroes.

  16. He won’t see Easter as president if he wins. They tried 25A on Trump right away, they will do the same with Joe only it will be valid.

    • ..Never assume they “can’t do this”..or…”they can’t do that”…because, given the power…they will…

  17. all these arguments for gun control, and the responses to them against gun control, are merely arguments about UTILITY.

but gun control is an abrogation of a RIGHT.

anybody can argue about this all day long, and make points, and make counterpoints, in favor of and against, but those all pertain to matters of UTILITY. in the end it has nothing to do with a RIGHT. either you have a RIGHT or you don’t.

if something can be argued on the basis of UTILITY it is not a RIGHT, it is a privilege that is being bargained for.

does it make people more or less safe? does it reduce or increase crime? does it make it safer for the cops to do their job, while making it less safe for law-abiding citizens? does it help or hurt the economy? foreign relations, the sovereignty of a country as opposed to rule by the U.N.? help or hinder the formation of domestic militias?

these are the issues that gun control revolves around, when debated from a perspective of UTILITY. and they do not address the question of RIGHT.

if you have the RIGHT, then UTILITY does not matter.

if you have the RIGHT to vote, it does not matter whether some other peoples might be less safe, or less propsperous, or expose them to the possibility of crime by others, or hurts foreign relations, or enables the formation of leagues of people exercising that right.

if you have the RIGHT to free speech, it does not matter whether some other peoples might be less safe, or less propsperous, or expose them to the possibility of crime by others, or hurts foreign relations, or enables the formation of leagues of people exercising that right.

if you have the RIGHT to freedom of religion, it does not matter whether some other peoples might be less safe, or less propsperous, or expose them to the possibility of crime by others, or hurts foreign relations, or enables the formation of leagues of people exercising that right.

if you have the RIGHT to life, liberty, and the ownership of personal property, it does not matter whether some other peoples might be less safe, or less propsperous, or expose them to the possibility of crime by others, or hurts foreign relations, or enables the formation of leagues of people exercising that right.

if you have the RIGHT to due process of the law, it does not matter whether some other peoples might be less safe, or less propsperous, or expose them to the possibility of crime by others, or hurts foreign relations, or enables the formation of leagues of people exercising that right.

if you have the RIGHT to keep and bear arms, it does not matter whether some other peoples might be less safe, or less propsperous, or expose them to the possibility of crime by others, or hurts foreign relations, or enables the formation of leagues of people exercising that right.

if a RIGHT does make some other peoples less safe, or less propsperous, or expose them to the possibility of crime by others, or hurts foreign relations, or enables the formation of leagues of people exercising that right, THAT’S TOO FUCKING BAD, ISN’T IT!

    and here’s why.

you will notice that the RIGHTS enumerated in the Bill of Rights are an extension of the “certain inalienable rights” mentioned in the Constitution. inalienable means they cannot be taken away. they are not something that is granted by the government, but recognized to be inherent RIGHTS of all men regardless of laws and government.

    this contract between the people and their government that they have formed, is the Constitution, a foundation for the rule of law;

and if that contract is broken, only God knows what will happen.

    • Good post, logical.

However, we do know what happens when the Constitutional contract is broken.

The Articles of Confederation were perpetual…but then they were not (funny how that works).

The mad dictator Lincoln and his administration refused to enforce Constitutional laws after the SCOTUS stated exactly why they were Constitutional. That broke the contract as well. 750,000 plus dead. (funny how that works too)

No history lesson here, but we do know what happens.

    • let me clarify:

anybody can come up with reasons for or against anything.

that has nothing to do with a RIGHT.

      • Close but no cigar gus…No need to write an esay when the death nail for gun control is the fact Gun Control is rooted in racism and genocide. That chiseled fact clearly makes Gun Control a racist and nazi based Agenda.
All you need to do gus is ask any Gun Control Zealot like Jim Crow Gun Control Joe Biden to justify their racist and nazi based Agenda.

It goes like this gus…The democRat Party owns the legacy of slavery, segregation, lynching, Jim Crow, the KKK, Eugenics, Gun Control and other race based atrocities.

Has the democRat Party ever been held accountable and made to pay for its wrongdoings? No and hell no. Why is that you ask? Because the MO of the democRat Party is to blame their opponents for what they are guilty of. Gun owners are racists, the POTUS is a racist, the Party of Lincoln is racist and on and on until the only people in America who are not racists are democRats. That’s what needs to change and the usual arguments and trying to “reason” with democRats is a joke. That approach gives the racist factor inherent in Gun Control a pass and continues to give Gun Control standing.
When the day comes Gun Control is seen as the racist and nazi agenda it is is the day Gun Control dies in America.

        • that still is to argue against the eradication of a right on a basis of utility.

“gun control is bad, because it’s racist!”

while that may be true, it misses the point. gun control is bad, for whatever reason, because it denies a fundamental basic human right.

the anti-gunners don’t want to go there. instead they put up dozens and hundreds of different arguments based on utility, hoping one will stick, because they know they can’t win arguing about RIGHT, it’s written down in black and white in the Constitution. and pro-gunners take the bait every time.

keep on arguing over the different reasons we should have a RIGHT… according to how safe, comfortable or happy it makes people. the anti-gunners have always been found to be wrong.

but the real answer is that the right to bear arms is a fundamental human RIGHT, which does not come from governments or laws.

          nobody disputes that.

  18. I don’t believe it is a blueprint for civilian disarmament what I believe it is, is a blueprint for America’s second revolutionary war.

    • That what I really don’t understand about Dems and gun grabbers. I can understand those who have been personally affected (not that a gun autonomously did anything), but not why it’s a mainstream Dem plank. If they left it alone, more gun people would support their candidates for their other issues. There’s a lot more pro-gunners where it’s a top 3 issue than anti-gunners. Real crime numbers were trending down until the police became the reviled bad guys. Drop the campaign, and nothing really happens. Even when they’ve gotten past victories, nothing substantial has happened except inconvenience and expense for the law-abiding while criminals ignore them for no effect. If they get all they claim to want, there isn’t going to be civilian disarmament or a reduction in crime. Actually takiing guns is a bridge too far. To paraphrase Archer: “Do you want civil war? Because that’s how you get civil war.” Are they just oblivious to the deeply held feelings on our side? Do they want conflict and think they’ll win despite being the side that’s by definition poorly armed? Are they just “useful idiots” being manipulated by foreign powers that want to see the US destroyed? Do they think they’ll change the culture and convince most people that guns and freedom never were very important anyway? Are they just cynically preaching to the choir and fundraising from a fringe and ignoring the consequences? Are they true believers who don’t care what happens as long as they did something about the evils of guns?

  19. Why won’t Biden have a debate with Trump. Because Trump would wipe the stage with him. Biden would go “Dog face pony Soldier” bat crap crazy. Anyone with a I.Q. higher than 60 should review the democrat party history. They were for slavery, they were against civil rights, they don’t want people to have rights. Just examine every single democrat run city. If you like and want high crime, political corruption, Failing schools and High taxes, just keep voting democrat. Can’t prove this wrong. Facts matter.

    • I’d love to see Trump truly gaslight Biden. Trump could accuse Biden of saying something ridiculous, and Biden would tap dance around trying to justify it because he’s to far gone to remember that he didn’t say it. Unfortunately, the “neutral” moderators would probably stop Joe and tell him he didn’t say it.

  20. You know, it’s funny.

If not for nonsense like this, Republicans would almost always be a terrible choice. It’s like they’re all manipulated to make certain people win.

  21. Im voting for whatever social security recipient shows up to a debate without the ubiquitous cuck mask on. Im a single issue voter you know.

  22. Hear that creaking sound? It’s the lid of you deplorables’ basket swinging closed. You’ve enjoyed political daylight long enough you rascals.

      • Shame works way better on deplorables than reason. It’s how they were brought up, the nature of the regressive bumpkin mind. So it’s totally constructive to spread malaise in here. Not that I care what these basket-creatures think or do, except for their service as a bad example.

        • Interesting how you know all about that, when I’ve never heard of it and don’t believe it!

  23. “My question for presumptive candidate Biden and his handlers is how do you expect to enforce this gun grab?”

The same way they always have- through business regulation and incidental arrests.

No, it will not get guns off the street in appreciable numbers. But there’s a lot of people who are not going to buy a gun if it’s illegal. The gangbangers will still have them. The murderers can still get them. But your average Joe probably won’t risk it.

  24. Ill only say this, to those of you that say they are going to vote for some candidate other than Trump, just turn your guns in now. Like all men, Trump has his flaws, but they guy running against him is Satan himself. Sure, Uncle Joe may be a nice guy, on the surface. But, he is also a communist; and so will be his running mate, and every judge appointed by him. The head of the ATF will be “hell yes I will take your AR15” Beto. The Supreme Court is at a tipping point right now. Its just barely in out favor. RBG is going to die in the next 4 years, probably sitting on the bench at oral argument. We are likely to lose probably two other judges on that court. If Trump appoints them, while there is a risk they might not be perfect, they are going to be a whole lot letter than three new RBGs on the Court.

I don’t know that the Second Amendment survives a Biden presidency.

And I do think there is a 50 percent chance of a civil war in the next 5 years, no matter who wins. I would rather wear the proverbial blue in that conflict that the proverbial Gray

    • Any luck, RBG will be replaced before Jan 20. Not wishing her ill, but face it, her race is run, she’s just hanging on to try one more time to defeat the Constitution.

I would bet against a civil war if Trump is reelected, otherwise quite possible.

    • Did someone give you the impression they are supposed to be equitably enforced? I have not seen anyone even claim that.

  25. …and would necessarily involve an epidemic of gun violence because you’d have to shoot a LOT of Americans to get rid of the guns.

  26. Rule 308 not a rule at all, but rather an informal collective understanding that if times get truly Schumeresque (times when law and order evaporate), you may have to handle your own law enforcement, with a rifle in hands. Hence, the number 308–which refers to . 308 Winchester.

    • Which would take a day, maybe 2. They’d probably just incorporate the repeal into the confiscation order, need to hurry up, there are other rights we need to violate.

  27. @Skeeter12

Appreciated, despite the fact that no aspirations exist within me to hold power over others. Freedom, as ever, is my only goal. I can only hope my like my erstwhile namesake, I possess the intestinal fortitude to die with the word issuing forth from my lips.

  28. Why can’t Trump do something to rid us of all the BS gun laws on the books now? Banish the BATF and the NFA laws. Make gun laws federal (slippery slope?) so all Americans have the right to buy and use whatever firearms they want. Open carry in all 50. What has he done for 2A?

  29. Trump Might Try to Postpone the Election. That’s Unconstitutional.
He should be removed unless he relents.

    July 30, 2020, 4:03 p.m. ET

I have voted Republican in every presidential election since 1980, including voting for Donald Trump in 2016. I wrote op-eds and a law review article protesting what I believe was an unconstitutional investigation by Robert Mueller. I also wrote an op-ed opposing President Trump’s impeachment.

But I am frankly appalled by the president’s recent tweet seeking to postpone the November election. Until recently, I had taken as political hyperbole the Democrats’ assertion that President Trump is a fascist. But this latest tweet is fascistic and is itself grounds for the president’s immediate impeachment again by the House of Representatives and his removal from office by the Senate.

Here is what President Trump tweeted:

With Universal Mail-In Voting (not Absentee Voting, which is good), 2020 will be the most INACCURATE & FRAUDULENT Election in history. It will be a great embarrassment to the USA. Delay the Election until people can properly, securely and safely vote???
    — Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) July 30, 2020

The nation has faced grave challenges before, just as it does today with the spread of the coronavirus. But it has never canceled or delayed a presidential election. Not in 1864, when President Abraham Lincoln was expected to lose and the South looked as if it might defeat the North. Not in 1932 in the depths of the Great Depression. Not in 1944 during World War II.

So we certainly should not even consider canceling this fall’s election because of the president’s concern about mail-in voting, which is likely to increase because of fears about Covid-19. It is up to each of the 50 states whether to allow universal mail-in voting and Article II of the Constitution explicitly gives the states total power over the selection of presidential electors.

Election Day was fixed by a federal law passed in 1845, and the Constitution itself in the 20th Amendment specifies that the newly elected Congress meet at noon on Jan. 3, 2021, and that the terms of the president and vice president end at noon on Jan. 20, 2021. If no newly elected president is available, the speaker of the House of Representatives becomes acting president.

President Trump needs to be told by every Republican in Congress that he cannot postpone the federal election. Doing so would be illegal, unconstitutional and without precedent in American history. Anyone who says otherwise should never be elected to Congress again.

    • Holy crap – elsewhere in the comments I was accused of being a traitor to my country for not wanting to vote for Trump. His proposal is more blatantly unconstitutional than anything Biden has proposed.

What’re going to go with boys – the liberal or the guy tweeting about revolution?

        • It’s all just labels. To continue your line of reasoning. If Biden is a socialist then Trump is a tyrant. It follows that most here would rather have tyranny than socialism. That’s an interesting, but given the options not an unreasonable choice.

This illustrates two things: 1. Our choices suck 2. We shouldn’t assume worst case for either option.

Realistically Biden isn’t a socialist and Trump isn’t a tyrant. I personally believe that Trump is a bigger danger to the country than Biden. Postponing an election is without precedent and blatantly unconstitutional. On the other hand, more strict gun laws, while undesirable have a reasonably good chance of passing constitutional muster. There is case law for controlling guns.

        • Hey Scott, how’s that gun control working for the criminals? They are always getting their hands on guns bought through the black market. They don’t go have background checks done. Don’t you think that there are too many gun restrictions on the law abiding citizens that own guns NOW?!? With all those laws on the books instead of making new ones why don’t they enforce them? And from the sound of things you would rather have our gun rights taken away instead? Evidently you must not be a gun owner. And yes if Touchy Feely Biden becomes president, we can kiss our freedom goodbye forever. Trump is doing a better job than that other dope-head that was in there for the last 8 years doing nothing but taking up room.

        • Good questions – and given the way you interpreted what I said, your response was very thoughtful and measured – THANK YOU!

I am not a proponent of gun control in any way. I oppose it strongly. I am a veteran, gun owner including many that would be subject to a ban, pro choice, pro life, fiscally conservative… I’m an NRA life member (although that org is a shit show right now).

What I was trying to relay is that I will vote against Trump because he is more dangerous than Biden. I don’t like what Biden will do at all, but I have no fear that he will even suggest that we should postpone any election. Further, I believe that Biden is a better person. This is debatable – it is unfortunately easy to use anecdotes from both men to paint a very ugly picture. This says a lot about our choice in November. It sucks.

If you look higher in the comments you will see reams of rude comments about how I am violating my oath to the constitution even to the point of accusing me of sedition and being a traitor for not supporting Trump. …Then Trump suggests that we might postpone the election and Mr. Calabresi posted a timely and brilliantly reasoned op-ed that lit up the Internet.

Again, thank you for using logic and a calm tone to address these tough questions!

  30. Has anyone noticed that Obama has not publicly endorsed Biden? It will be contingent upon Biden choosing Michelle as his running mate, fulfilling his desire to name a woman of color for the position. Joe then has to leave office for obvious medical reasons, leaving the barn door wide open. I shudder to think of the ramifications.

  31. The US “socialist party” is more of an organized crime operation than political. “Socialist” is just a polite term. They ran as “democrats” until they got powerful enough to fly their own colors. If enough people vote for socialist rule, we will have socialist rule. Their platform is, if you don’t vote socialist you are evil. Their tactics are lie and deny, insults and and threats, terror in the streets of their own territories, then blame it on the rest of us. Burning their cities now, burn the rest of the country later if we resist. These people smell blood, they aren’t messing around.

  32. Biden is an inane dickwad who should have the respect of no one. It is imperative that he be painted as the useless jackwagon he is, and the 2020 tool of heinous political/corporate forces intent on enslaving the whole globe.
