  1. Because I’m not Emnanuel, God with us, who became human, for the purpose of dying in order to pay for the sins of the world. So, it’s not my job to let myself be killed unjustly.

    • Good answer! Plus you know His real(and not the satanic substitute) name! Few indeed(even among the clergy, who are largely Lucifer worshipers without even knowing it. He IS the great deceiver, after all. Most all fall prey to his lies.) know who the “bright and shining star” actually is…

    • Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding, ding! We have a winner!

Jesus’ explicit mission: die at the hands of man to reconcile mankind’s transgressions against God Almighty. (Note that “reconciliation” is a synonym for “forgiveness”.)

No human being since or at any point in the future will have such a mission and therefore no other human being had, has, or will have any obligation to let other people murder them.

The Bible in its entirety makes this crystal clear. Someone needs to explain this to Reverend Dwayne Black who is in serious error.

  2. How about you tend to your flock as you see fit and let others tend as they see fit? Or should we be selling our swords for cloaks now?

    • I was figured this was the case because The Bible tells us the nature of God is unchangeable in Old Testament God certainly had no problem with some righteous killing. He also had no issue with the collective and individual protection of the israelites when they rebuilding their city walls. Further we can extrapolate that several of the 12 disciples carried weapons on them in the presence of Jesus who not once objected to it and instead told them to sell their cloaks and buy swords specifically at the time when they would be fugitives of the unjust Roman state who was attempting to capture jesus for being a “cult leader”

      • ” Thou shall not commit pre-meditated murder” is a more accurate translation.
The Ten Commandments were given to the Israelites just before they entered the promised land. To win the land they had to fight for it. It doesn’t make much sense to say “Don’t kill and go ahead and fight, kill destroy to make this land your own.”

    • It is a bit more complicated than that. “Slay” or “manslayer” is probably better but “murder” is good and “kill” still works. The KJV renders רָצַח (ratsach) as kill/killing/killed elsewhere such as in I Kings 22:19 and Hosea 4:2.

AND OTHER MODERN TRANSLATIONS render ratsach as kill as well – like multiple places in Numbers 35. There “kill” is used for ratsach against the manslayer even if it is a legal/legit taking of life.

Did you miss the part about how the English word “kill” has evolved over time? The KJV translators did make some blatant mistakes but this is not one of them.

What he says at 2:20 should not even have to be said. Little Jewish boys in Hebrew school get this stuff at like age five. Seriously, this “thou shalt not kill [ever]” argument is the kind of crap only a gentile would fall for . . . because only an (uneducated) gentile would go around quoting a portion of the Torah (Law) in such a dumb fashion.

Wrestling with issues like this, and ones that are much more complex, is a big reason why Jews are often so successful.

“This book of the law [Torah] shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it; for then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have success. – Joshua 1:8

      • Wrestling with issues like this, and ones that are much more complex, is a big reason why Jews are often so successful.

I thought it was because of their predisposition for child molestation and rape.

        • (Raises eyebrow)
Really? And blacks are predisposed to sell crack? Asians are predisposed to make hentai videos? Pacific Islanders are predisposed to be morbidly obese? And we gun owners are predisposed to being homicidal lunatics?
Bigotry proves nothing but the wilful ignorance of the bigot.

        • BLoving, pacific islanders DO have a higher frequency of genes conferring a predisposition to being morbidly obese. That is the SCIENCE. There are all kinds of well understood higher or lower average frequency of genes and expression genes in regional/ethnic/racial background cohorts.
Africans don’t have a a food or lifestyle driver toward higher blood pressure, but a known genetic one. East Africans absolutely do on average have specific genetic attributes that make a higher proportion of them excellent at long distance running.

And regional ancestry cohorts do say have higher or RF:IF ratios (longer or shorter ring fingers) which is genetic, and which is an indicator of higher rates of violence.

It is bigoted to assume that your specific neighbor, co-worker, etc who is Polynesian ancestry will be fat, it is not bigoted to note that as a group his ancestry cohort has a higher rate/risk of obesity.

        • I second that. It’s hard to take samuraichatter seriously when he’s making such idiotic collective generalizations. Obviously “thou shall not kill” is the the stuff of ignoramuses and those who believe the KJV is God’s own updated definitive version (I’m willing to go out on a limb and call that doctrine idiotic), as you barely need to turn the page before God is commanding capital punishment and looking favorably on righteous bloodshed. But I’d bet that most American Jews couldn’t explain the Decalogue (Ten Commandments). That’s probably true of most American Christians as well. Most Americans no longer study the Bible, and their “religious affiliation” is a vestigial cultural affiliation and nothing more as their lifestyle and values are not defined by religious observance but by secular culture. To find biblically literate people, look to those who make an effort to obtain religious education. I’m not a collectivist. There’s no one ethnic group that dominates religious erudition, merely individuals who take the time to study and become learned.

  3. Why do I get the feeling the Reverend was chosen for quotes because he spews the same anti civil rights drivel as the Sun-Sentinel?

    • Here is a couple goodies that the Rev neglected to mention.

      Psalm 97:10
You who love the LORD, hate evil!

      Psalm 144:1
      Blessed be the Lord, my rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle;

  4. Apparently this guy never read the first half of the Bible. That part is full of nothing but war and violence. A lot of it is pretty badass too.

      • I agree with MarkF, I don’t think ANYTHING beyond my existence is necessary to justify defending myself or my family. Any reason I would have for doing so presupposes evil/threat, but it still REQUIRES that I exist and desire to continue existing.

        A is A.

        • A bear may attack me, and I would be justified in defending myself. The bear isn’t evil. It’s just a bear.

  5. It always fascinates me to see someone with a religious title who does not know what his own religious documents teach or knows it, yet teaches the opposite.

  6. “How do you justify…” We don’t. We don’t have to. Sounds like you’re trying to start a conversation. FU stupid. You’re on the wrong side.

Read Matthew’s account of the arrest of Jesus, Jesus tells Peter to “Put the sword back in its place (which was on his person)”. He didn’t say ‘throw it away’.

  7. Jesus said “many will come in my name, saying “I am the Christ” and lead many astray.

Luke, ch. 22, verse 36. “But now, if you don’t have a purse, take one and also a bag, and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one”

Jesus was a man of Peace, not a pacifist.

    • “Jesus was a man of Peace, not a pacifist.”

That is hands down the wisest and most enlightening thing I have ever read on this site’s comment section.

  8. We (the people) killed Jesus, he would not have needed to die except for our sins. He is God, it was his choice to die for us. The only way to reconcile this sacrifice is to get on your knees and pray for forgiveness. Any time, any place on this earth, any person, any faith, any crime. That is the Biblical answer, add or subtract a few words, but this is the core of Christianity.

I am always amazes at “pastors” who add their own requirements to Gods Word, they are essentially putting themselves up as the same as God adding their own “laws”. They should really read their Bible.

I carry in concealed in church because I care about the innocents around me. I know churches are soft targets, have been for years. Open carry in church while legal in some cases would be different issue IMO.

    • Soft targets. I was thinking if I was a terrorist, and really wanted to ruin someone’s day, A church is perfect. That thought was before “No Ears” Kelley pulled his atrocitie.

    • I’ve always had a problem with that line of thought, that “we” killed Jesus. I didn’t do shit. It occurred 2000 years ago on the other side of the planet. I didn’t have anything to do with it anymore than I contributed to slavery, the crusades, or the holocaust. Even if my ancestors took part in something like that, I didn’t, and I am to be judged on my acts alone, not my fathers.

  9. Jesus was big on forgiving one’s enemies. I don’t recall Him saying very much about giving them a free pass to commit evil, however, and you always can forgive someone for trying to mug you as part of the aftermath. (I, however, am a vengeful SOB, so while I might be willing to move on, I’m not big on unearned pardons.)

    • And taking the whole concept a step further: dead victims are quite literally unable to do anything — which includes forgiving their murderer.

  10. How do you justify following a person who overturned the money changing tables in the temple and at the same time collect money in your own church?

    • Jeff,

Jesus overturned the money changer’s tables for two reasons:
      (1) The money changers were conducting business inside the temple which was a place of worship, NOT business.
      (2) The money changers were cheating people.

Those reasons do not suggest that churches should not collect money to cover their operating expenses.

      • Specifically, the moneychangers were taking up what was supposed to be the “Court of the Gentiles”, where non-Jews could come and worship.

    • Because those money changers were a) taking advantage of the people of God, through predatory money-changing practices in order for those people to be able to participate in the religiously required sacrifice rituals, and b) they were doing so inside the temple grounds.

Giving money to the church is wholly biblical.

    • Others above covered why Jesus drove the money changers out of the temple.
      Now, something else to consider:
John 2:15 says, “So he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple courts, both sheep and cattle; he scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables.” [NIV]
He took the time to make a whip. He didn’t pick one up in a fit of rage; it was a calculated action.
This says anger and violence aren’t evil in and of themselves, but rather that the motivation counts.
This can be extrapolated to tell us that violence isn’t necessarily evil, especially if it’s done for a good purpose.
      Like self defense.
I would think that a preacher of Christianity would have learned to understand what the Bible says. Evidently, this isn’t always true.

  11. Another Fake Christian Imam, the only reason the church wanted it’s people disarmed was for a sheeple reason as sheeple can be controlled and led to the slaughter easier, (less likely to prosecute and dismember its perverted Priests), most religions became political, when they did it was for the betterment of the leadership and not their flock>

  12. It’s a sin to commit suicide. What is willfully failing to defend yourself against lethal violence but suicide through negligence?

But you know what? Never mind the holy hocus pocus. The fact is that I’m here, my family is here, and we’re not leaving this life without a fight.

    Your move, preacher man.

    • Building on your suicide through negligence thought:

We have an obligation to provide for our families. We cannot provide anything to our families if we are dead. Failing to provide through negligence is therefore wrong.

Perhaps even more poignant, part of our obligation to provide for our families includes providing PROTECTION from the world, as much as we are capable anyway. Thus, I would argue that refusing to provide protection for our families makes us an accessory to murder if someone murders them, which is clearly wrong as well.

  13. I’m not seeking an endorsement from anyone’s favorite deity regarding self defense. It’s a consideration that is literally useless and appeals only to the superstitious.

  14. Please read this article – I did not write it but I totally believe and agree with it pertaining to guns from a Christian perspective.

    Christian men & guns

    By Jeff Quinn of Gunblast.com

I have been asked on occasion how I can justify carrying a gun and being a Christian at the same time. This is always posed by someone who is trying to trip me up. It can either be a devout Christian asking the question, or a Hedonistic heathen; it doesn’t matter. There are those who believe, or choose to believe, that a Christian must be absolutely passive in all things. I am not just referring to those Christians who ride a horse and buggy. I have been asked about my views on self defense by Christians of most every denomination. Some are genuinely seeking an answer. Others just want to chastise me for not being as “faithful” as themselves.

Many will accept every modern worldly convenience, but scoff at the idea of trying to protect oneself or the life of another. Their attitude seems to be that “God will protect us”. They do have a valid point. God will protect us from the evils of this world, if he so chooses. I would rather have God on my side than a battery of Sidewinder missiles. Indeed, our God can protect us. However, that attitude would lead one to believe that he could walk through Harlem wearing a Ku Klux Klan outfit campaigning for George Wallace, and that “God will protect us”. God could get you through that, but Jesus said that we should not tempt God. I tend to agree with his assessment.

In the saddlebag of my motorcycle, I have a tiny cross with the inscription “Faith Moves Mountains”, but I also ride in the mountains of East Tennessee and the western United States, and I make sure that my brakes are in good working order. I could just trust God to catch me, but again, that could be construed as tempting God. God gave us brakes on our motorcycles, and that is sufficient.

God can indeed protect us. He can keep us safe on the highways, and he can also keep us safe from those who would intentionally do us harm. I am not speaking of politicians here, but of the evil that is in the souls of some human beings. Be certain in this; there is true evil in this world, and it sometimes manifests itself in the form of a low life predator. Being a Christian, it is difficult to believe that people, made of the same composition of flesh, bone, and blood as ourselves, could be truly evil. We have a Heavenly Father who has filled us with basic goodness, but Jesus said that there are those “who are of the synagogue of Satan”.

No sane individual would hesitate to defend himself from a rabid dog or a poisonous snake, but are the two-legged vipers of this world any better than an animal? An animal does that which comes naturally to him. Children of Satan do that which comes naturally to them: that being evil.

Can God protect us from those who would do us harm? Absolutely. However, just as he has given us brakes to save us from the mountain, he has also given to us the tools necessary to defend ourselves, and those whom God has given to us. As Christian men, God not only allows us to protect our families, but he expects us to protect those whom he has placed in our care. This may seem contrary to the mandate for us to “turn the other cheek”, and I too have pondered over this. It takes great strength to turn the other cheek as Jesus intended. That is not a commandment to be weak. Jesus did not operate from a position of weakness. In fact, nothing ever happened to him that he did not allow.

God has entrusted us with the care of our brothers, whether those “brothers” be the children that he has given to us, or our wives, or our friends. We could set our children outside in the cold and trust that God would keep them warm. We could abandon them and trust that God will keep them fed. We could let them loose on the city streets or send them off for a week at Neverland, and trust that no sick, evil freak would abuse them. As Christians, we do not do these things to our children. God expects us to clothe them, feed them, and protect them from the evil that is inherent in this world. He gave to us the ability to buy clothes, grow food, build a fire, and to fight off those who would do us harm. In the time that Jesus walked the Earth in the form of man, the short sword was the state-of-the-art weapon. He told his followers that the time of living carefree was over, and that the time had come for those without a sword to “sell his garment and buy one”.

Today, we have better than a sword. We have more modern weapons at our disposal, and so does our enemy. Keeping a good rifle to defend one’s homestead and a reliable handgun to ward off evil that finds you when you least expect it is not only prudent, but expected. A Christian man is not mean, hateful, spiteful, or quick to anger. Neither is he weak. God never told us to let the evil in this world run over us like a train. He never toyld us to stand by idly as those whom he trusted to us are abused or killed. A Christian man who packs a gun does not look for trouble, and avoids it if at all possible. However, evil can seek you out.

A well-armed man operates from a position of strength. He is less likely to have to fight than an unarmed man. The predators in this world look for easy prey. God did not put his people on this Earth to be prey for the sons of Satan. God expects us to stand up for what is right, and he gives us the tools with which to do so. When you defend the life of one of God’s children, you are defending good against evil. Use your good sense and God’s word to avoid trouble. If necessary, use the gun at your side to stand against it.

    • turn the other cheek is generally understood by seminaries and biblical scholars to be in reference to verbal insults, slights, and pettiness. It is not in reference to serious physical attack or violence that results in permanent damage to life, limb, or eyesight.

  15. Eyes as a flame of fire. With righteousness be doth judge and make WAR…I plan on being in the army of heaven. Until then I’ll defend me and mine with my guns. Oh and we don’t live in the Roman empire where we have no rights or means to defend ourselves!

  16. – Rev. Dwayne Black = Stupid Ass Deceiver (SAD)

Who is this misguided lib-turd (only thing going for him is GOD still loves him)
” …..another member of South Florida’s many-sided faith community. This week we’re talking with the Rev. Dwayne Black, spiritual leader at Second Presbyterian Church of Fort Lauderdale…..”
    http://www.google.com/amp/www.sun-sentinel.com/fl-fv-qa-black

SADs like him make domestic/deranged psycho terrorist job of mass church murder far easier.

Carry in church and “be ye ever ready…” After all, it is your right, according to the highest authority in the USA and in HEAVEN…FU satin…

The last murder’s use of vest and plate have me reassessing my carry weapon – 45 ACP – would a 5.7 FN be a better choice?

    • He was wearing armor, not an invincibility cloak. Practice your favorite failure to stop drills. Carry extra mags. I have only heard of one situation where the bad guy wore head to toe armor. Head and legs are usually exposed, and often work when trying to stop a threat. Hit fast and often until threat stops.

  17. Let’s quickly look at one of the last instructions God gave to us:
    Luke 22:35-36King James Version (KJV)

35 And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing.

36 Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.

Seems like he gave one instruction for one period of time (whilst he was on this earth physically) and then updated this instruction for onward survival.

  18. I don’t have to justify anything. I have a gun…

Now, if I have occasion to use I might have some ‘splaining to do to earthly authorities.

  19. WWJD: When speaking to His disciples, ” He said to them, “But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.” Luke 22:36

  20. As always, the MSM is being their usual far left propagandist.

Every time there’s anything involving a shooting near or in a church the media always finds the nearest Liberation Theologian (read commie) to make a anti gun rights statement. Never mind that the media couldn’t give the idea of religion the time of day the other 364 days of the year. And usually they’re far more interested in trawling churches looking for the next big sex scandal than looking for quotes.

  21. Supposedly, Jesus said:
“Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.”

So yeah, I think being a true Christian means being disarmed.

    • A slap, in those days, was an gross insult not an assault and battery.

Jesus also said to his disciples “He who has no sword, let him sell his cloak and buy one”. If He wanted his followers disarmed, then why did he tell them to get a sword?

    • Supposedly, Jesus said:
“Do not resist the one who is evil. But if anyone slaps you on the right cheek, turn to him the other also.”

So yeah, I think being a true Christin means being disarmed.

Once again: this passage has absolutely nothing to do with self-defense against a threat of physical harm.

When someone (the default person being right-handed) strikes another on the right cheek, one does so with the back of the hand. It is an act of insult/affront, not physical harm.

Jesus here is referring to the Christian’s response to insult. We are called not to return insult for insult. Nothing more; nothing less.

The passage has no bearing on the right or responsibility of a Christian to defend oneself in response to the threat of physical harm.

  22. This thread is a good arguement for psychological background checks. You don’t need to be a believer to know the Reverend Mr. Black is wrong. Jesus is spinning in his grave. Oh wait…

      • HANK, so correct on Ehren ……Watada. Just how does “Moral Courage” work for an ahteist? ehern could get some courage, go to Japan, and into the forests at its base and join other atheists by hanging itself..good for the planet…one less atheist troll.
Plus, it won’t add to the gun death stats unnecessarily.

  23. I don’t think a week goes by when some ultra-leftwing or ultra-rightwing Christian doesn’t say something to confirm the wisdom of my becoming an agnostic 40+ years ago.

I wouldn’t cross the street in the name of your religion, much less let myself be maimed or murdered, or stand idly by while someone else is maimed or murdered.

On the other hand, I’d shoot lots of people (with a gun) in order to preserve your right to practice it.

Oh, and by the way, I’m SURE you wouldn’t call the cops if somebody starting shooting up YOUR church. After all, that would just result in men with… GUNS showing up to do harm to the murderer. You don’t advocate “escalating the violence”, DO you?

  24. LUKE 22:36

Now, however, He told them, “the one with a purse should take it, and likewise a bag; AND THE ONE WITHOUT A SWORD SHOULD SELL HIS CLOAK AND BUY ONE.

  25. “How do you justify that you’re following a person who prayed to God ?. . .”. Easy, I never listen to people who use religion to lead others on a fool’s errand.

  26. Apparently he hasn’t actually read all of the Bible.

He said to them, “But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.”
    — Luke 22:36, NIV

  27. He said to them, “But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one.”
    — Luke 22:36

  28. Read it in it’s entirety!! Let it sink in.

There are 30,000 gun related deaths per year by firearms, and this number is not disputed. The U.S. population 324,059,091 as of Wednesday, June 22, 2016.

Doing the math that is 0.000000925% of the population die from gun related actions each year. Statistically speaking, this is insignificant!

What is never told, however, is a breakdown of those 30,000 deaths, to put them in perspective as compared to other causes of death it looks like this:

    – 65% (19,500) of those deaths are by suicide which would never be prevented by gun laws

    – 15% (4500) are by law enforcement in the line of duty and justified

    – 17% (5100) are through criminal activity, gang and drug related or mentally ill persons, gun violence

    – 3% (900) are accidental discharge deaths

So technically, “gun violence” is not 30,000 annually, it actually drops to 5,100.

Let’s look at how are those 5,000 deaths are allocated across the country?

480 homicides (9.4%) were in Chicago

344 homicides (6.7%) were in Baltimore

333 homicides (6.5%) were in Detroit

119 homicides (2.3%) were in Washington D.C. (a 54% increase over prior years)

So technically, 25% of all gun crime happens in just four cities. All four of those cities have strict gun control laws, are run by Democrats, have high Black Population, high political corruption and high crime. Liberals would have you believe the Gun is the cause for all these problems.

This basically leaves 3,825 for the rest of the entire country which on average, is about 75 deaths per state. That is an average because some States, like the High Gun Control States of New York and California, have much higher rates than others. Let’s look at California which had 1,169 gun deaths and Alabama that had only one.

Since high Gun Control states have higher crime and are normally run by Democrats and have higher gun crimes and murders, but other states with less gun control has less crime and less murders, maybe it is not the Gun causing these statistics.

Although 5,100 deaths per year may sound bad, it really is a very small percentage. Let’s look at other causes of death in comparison.

So here are some other causes of deaths per year:

40,000 plus die from a drug overdose (Drugs are outlawed and controlled)

36,000 people die each year from the flu, far exceeding the criminal gun deaths

34,000 people die each year in traffic fatalities (exceeding gun deaths even if you include suicide)

    Now for the big numbers:

    – 200,000+ people die each year (and growing) from preventable medical errors. (Imagine this, you are safer in Chicago than when in a hospital, but cameras and videotaping medical procedures are outlawed?)

    – 710,000 people die per year from heart disease. That’s 142 times more people than die by guns.

    Remember:

    Easy times make weak people

    Weak people make hard times

    Hard times make strong men

    Strong men make easy times.

So ask yourself, in the big picture, if public safety and protecting people is REALLY THE ISSUE, why isn’t Government focusing on Medical procedures instead of guns? The answer is simple, public safety and protecting you is NOT the concern of government, Control is what Government wants.

The founders of this nation knew that regardless of the form of government, those in power may become corrupt and seek to rule as the British did and will try to disarm the people. A disarmed populace is easier to control. Remember, for people to stop and overthrow a tyrannical Government, if the people are armed, it only takes 3 percent of the populace to stop a tyrannical Government. However, if the people are NOT ARMED, it takes about 60 percent of the people. A Government that fears the people do not want them armed, a Government that works for the people does not care if it armed.

The second amendment was not placed has number two by accident. The founders knew that if the people were not armed then the first amendment would fall. They knew Free speech was the most important thing about Freedom, and they knew that only an armed public could keep a power hungry Government in check. They knew if the Government tried to seize freedom and suppress free speech, only an armed public could stop them and preserve the Republic. Anyone that cares and understands freedom knows the First and Second Amendments are bonded together and without one the other will fall.

The next time someone tries to tell you that gun control is about saving lives, remember these facts. Remember “Before a standing army can rule, the people must first be disarmed”. When it comes to “gun control”, the important word is “control” not “gun”.

A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. On December 15, 1791, the Bill of Rights (the first ten amendments to the Constitution) was adopted. This had NOTHING to do with hunting.

    SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED!
There is a war going on between our Government and the People’s rights and freedoms. In any War the first casualty is the Truth.

  29. I am a christian Jew. The last time we went around unarmed over 10 million men, women, and children, homosexuals, gypsies, handicapped. Funny looking people…..they died just because we were all unarmed…….NEVER AGAIN

  30. “Not a blacksmith could be found in the whole land of Israel, because the Philistines had said, “Otherwise the Hebrews will make swords or spears!””

  31. What’s sad is that a guy like this will be trotted out by the left, who have nothing but disdain and mockery for his faith and view him as a useful idiot. All the while, he probably won’t have a clue. He sure doesn’t about self defense.

  32. A minor matter…. you misspelled the source of the article, it is called the Sun-Slantinel.

It’s a publication that can only make Left turns or wrong turns, which is quite often the same thing.

  33. Mr. Black can only make this ignorant, snarky comment because he knows far more about liberal talking points than he does the Bible. Any objective study of the Bible will lead the reader to conclude that God commands us to defend the innocent with all legal force. For an in depth study of the subject, read my book, “A Time To Kill: The Myth of Christian Pacifism” by Greg Hopkins. (Christian Gun Nut Lawyer).

  34. Nehemiah 4

    New International Version (NIV)

    Opposition to the Rebuilding

4 [a]When Sanballat heard that we were rebuilding the wall, he became angry and was greatly incensed. He ridiculed the Jews, 2 and in the presence of his associates and the army of Samaria, he said, “What are those feeble Jews doing? Will they restore their wall? Will they offer sacrifices? Will they finish in a day? Can they bring the stones back to life from those heaps of rubble—burned as they are?”

3 Tobiah the Ammonite, who was at his side, said, “What they are building—even a fox climbing up on it would break down their wall of stones!”

4 Hear us, our God, for we are despised. Turn their insults back on their own heads. Give them over as plunder in a land of captivity. 5 Do not cover up their guilt or blot out their sins from your sight, for they have thrown insults in the face of[b] the builders.

6 So we rebuilt the wall till all of it reached half its height, for the people worked with all their heart.

7 But when Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabs, the Ammonites and the people of Ashdod heard that the repairs to Jerusalem’s walls had gone ahead and that the gaps were being closed, they were very angry. 8 They all plotted together to come and fight against Jerusalem and stir up trouble against it. 9 But we prayed to our God and posted a guard day and night to meet this threat.

10 Meanwhile, the people in Judah said, “The strength of the laborers is giving out, and there is so much rubble that we cannot rebuild the wall.”

11 Also our enemies said, “Before they know it or see us, we will be right there among them and will kill them and put an end to the work.”

12 Then the Jews who lived near them came and told us ten times over, “Wherever you turn, they will attack us.”

13 Therefore I stationed some of the people behind the lowest points of the wall at the exposed places, posting them by families, with their swords, spears and bows. 14 After I looked things over, I stood up and said to the nobles, the officials and the rest of the people, “Don’t be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your families, your sons and your daughters, your wives and your homes.”

15 When our enemies heard that we were aware of their plot and that God had frustrated it, we all returned to the wall, each to our own work.

16 From that day on, half of my men did the work, while the other half were equipped with spears, shields, bows and armor. The officers posted themselves behind all the people of Judah 17 who were building the wall. Those who carried materials did their work with one hand and held a weapon in the other, 18 and each of the builders wore his sword at his side as he worked. But the man who sounded the trumpet stayed with me.

19 Then I said to the nobles, the officials and the rest of the people, “The work is extensive and spread out, and we are widely separated from each other along the wall. 20 Wherever you hear the sound of the trumpet, join us there. Our God will fight for us!”

21 So we continued the work with half the men holding spears, from the first light of dawn till the stars came out. 22 At that time I also said to the people, “Have every man and his helper stay inside Jerusalem at night, so they can serve us as guards by night and as workers by day.” 23 Neither I nor my brothers nor my men nor the guards with me took off our clothes; each had his weapon, even when he went for water.[c]

  35. Weak Christians let their boys and girls be raped and murdered. This so called church leader invents things in the bible to protect his liberal belief system.

  36. I remember a time when you’d get your substance from the expert, like theology from a Rev. Now, it’s the audience. Back then, entertaining nonsense was called a “clown show”. Now it’s called “click-bait journalism.”

I wonder if that’s because the comedians aren’t funny or the journalists aren’t – er – journalists any more. “Click bait” seems on point.

I do wonder, if we’re the ones finding stuff out n making sense, what do we need them for? Does that Rev, or his straight man (Can I say “straight?”) think they are wearing a uniform, being the thing, or a costume playing a role?

  37. I am a deacon in my church. Our calling is to provide for the physical needs of the church. Security is one of those needs. Moreover, it is a matter of stewardship to take proper care of the things that God has entrusted to us, whether they be family, friends, the church, etc… That is why I am armed at church and everywhere else I go.

  38. Even Jesus allowed his apostles to carry a weapon. How else can one explain how Peter happened to have a sword in the Garden of Gethsemane? (John 18:10) How we use that sword is the moral issue.

The road to Emmaus had many thieves. Christianity would never have spread without self protection.

  39. I prefer a more aggressive version of Christianity so instead of voluntarily bending over and getting shot in the ass, I rather shoot back. I am pretty sure “God” or “Jesus” are not against self defense though I am an atheist do “He” or “SHE” do not talk to me. So I guess I keep own counsel and use common sense.

  40. “He said to them, “But now if you have a purse, take it, and also a bag; and if you don’t have a sword, sell your cloak and buy one“
    -Luke 22:36
