[UPDATE: In an email late this evening, Ryan McMillan has confirmed the validity of this story.]

When the Bank of America was founded back in 1904, no one ever thought that it would one day truly be the Bank of America. As in (partially) government owned. Just like Government Motors, Chrysler, the entire student loan industry and more, the federal government’s insatiable grasping tentacles are woven throughout one of the world’s largest commercial bank and brokerage operations. And as has always been true, if you take the king’s shilling, you’re damned well going to do his bidding. The folks at McMillan found out recently that means some kinds of business are no longer wanted . . .

From McMillan’s Facebook page via reddit:

Today Mr. Ray Fox, Senior Vice President, Marlet Manager, Business Banking, Global Commercial Banking came to my office. He scheduled the meeting as an “account analysis” meeting in order to evaluate the two lines of credit we have with them. He spent 5 minutes talking about how McMillan has changed in the last 5 years and have become more of a firearms manufacturer than a supplier of accessories.

At this point I interrupted him and asked “Can I possibly save you some time so that you don’t waste your breath? What you are going to tell me is that because we are in the firearms manufacturing business you no longer want my business.”

“That is correct” he says.

I replied “That is okay, we will move our accounts as soon as possible. We can find a 2nd Amendment friendly bank that will be glad to have our business. You won’t mind if I tell the NRA, SCI and everyone one I know that BofA is not firearms industry friendly?”

“You have to do what you must” he said.

“So you are telling me this is a politically motivated decision, is that right?”
Mr Fox confirmed that it was. At which point I told him that the meeting was over and there was nothing let for him to say.

I think it is import for all Americans who believe in and support our 2nd amendment right to keep and bare arms should know when a business does not support these rights. What you do with that knowledge is up to you. When I don’t agree with a business’ political position I can not in good conscience support them. We will soon no longer be accepting Bank of America credit cards as payment for our products.

    • PITA if you ask me.. Last I check half the god damn country is anti second amendment. Better off banning our televisions, they dont do much in the way of promoting the second amendment anyways right? BofA has their dick in everyones mayonaise.

    • I don’t know if you have any in your neck of the woods but Huntington Bank is very 2A friendly. They openly allow Open and Concealed Carry here in Ohio.

        • 2A friendly is just a local tactic for them. They lure each goose with it’s favorite bait. Stupidly, they’re about to slaughter all the geese.

I’ve had long, good dealings with Wells Fargo but also know of contrary experience. I recommend extreme skepticism with all their ilk.

  1. The sticky web of the USG, privately-owned Federal Reserve, and Wall Street Banksters are bleeding dry the American citizen. As prosperity declines so does our liberty and democratic-republic. Why didn’t the McMillan Group International, LLC divest themselves many years ago of banking with and supporting one of the most insidious big banks in America? Because of the cozy relationship the Federal Reserve (a friggin private Central Bank of which the BofA is a member) has with the USG, our currency is being destroyed through debasement (and thus inflation) and our national debts keep growing in the trillion$ weakening the economy and the middle class. The vast credit markets are really debt slave markets.

I do not feel sorry for or in support of the McMillian Group as another pro-gun industry company being shafted by the long-hand of the USG. I curse them for supporting the FED for so long. Long term the policies of the FED and USG are anti-liberty and anti-prosperity. Those who willingly support them are enemies of freedom. Go to hell McMillian Group for banking with the BofA.

    • All true Aharon. The web always tangles into obscurity but no individual should deliberately do business with BOA. They can’t be avoided but if you have an opinion about anything it’s most likely defied and defiled by BOA. They are front and fast at the levers of our destruction.

Used to be financing of business was friends, family and fools. Now it’s friends, family and fiends.

      • True. Rather than just hording physical gold and silver I think I’ll start teaching myself how to breed rabbits, make soap and candles.

        • Don’t run no raw milk or banned breeds, or they’ll run DOA or DWR swat raid on you. Tyrants hate being ignored.

        • All I do is legal and always will be. I don’t give them or anyone a legit reason to go after me.

  2. Is this for real? Like for real-for real? Not a prank? I’d like to be sure before I invest my money elsewhere. Speaking of, are there any big corporations that ARE 2A friendly anymore?

    • A large majority of people in this country are pro-2a, even if they don’t think of themselves as such.

Corporations don’t think like people. They’re not subject to the same pressures; they thrive under difference conditions. Almost no corporations are 2a friendly, even though the people running them may be.

    • We’ve reached out to someone at McMillan for confirmation of this. Given that this was posted on the company’s Facebook page, we’re pretty confident that the story is accurate. But we wanted additional confirmation just to be sure.

  3. Unless and until they start making rifles with reasonable prices, I could care less where they bank.

Screw BofA – don’t get me wrong. But screw McMillan, too.

      • Well, I’m me. I determine what a “reasonable price” is. (With scare quotes and everything.)

Might you be suggesting that I let others determine what “reasonable” (again, with scare quotes, for whatever effect) is for me?

    • Not for a company needing a line of credit probably over a million bucks.

Most credit unions cannot handle the risk of extending mega-buck LOC’s to small businesses. It puts the credit union into a very high risk exposure to have that much credit outstanding at one place.

Credit unions are great alternatives for personal banking, but for commercial banking… not so much.

      • True, many credit unions are limited with the extended credit lines they can provide. There are a number of well-run and solvent smaller or mid-size banks that are available in many cases to fill that niche. Yes, I realize there are times when a firm must resort to using one of the bigger banks yet that need to bank with them is sometimes more of a convenience factor.

    • I sure as hell am not going to defend any liberals, but when it comes to acting against your own self-interest. The liberals seem to be doing a lot better than we are, for the tme being anyway.

  4. I want to see where McMillan ends up before I close my BOA account. My problem is my choices of easy banking are BOA, Chase and 5th 3rd. I have a feeling none of them want anything to do with the firearm industry.

  5. “Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.”
    — Benjamin Franklin

The same can be said for those who choose to stay with the big banks for the perceived easy convenience of their branches and ATMs rather than go with a small clean, traditional, and regional bank (or credit union) headquartered on main street.

  6. B of A has long been a nest of thieves and scumbags. It seems they’ve found a perfect partner in the Federal government.

  7. Is this even legal?

May a supermarket refuse the sale of groceries to a firearms manufacturer, their employees, associates, or anyone else engaging in legal commerce of any nature?

May a hospital or doctor deny medical treatment on such arbitrary criteria?

May a homeowner or real estate broker refuse to sell or rent a house to someone based on their business or occupation?

Sounds like a fat juicy civil rights lawsuit to me.

    • There is no civil rights issue in refusing business based upon the actions or business activity of a counterparty. If I, as someone engaged in the firearms business, is approached to do work for someone who engages in activity that I don’t like, I don’t have to do business with them.

BofA is completely within their rights here.

But so are people who want to pull money out of BofA in response.

    • Once they are government owned they just might, provided the guiding philosophy is anti gun. So as administrations change the winds within certain industries will change as well.
Not really too far from reality any longer.

  8. damnit…I bank with BoA personally and was about to setup an acct for my business with them…I hate BoA but they have a lot of features on their accts I like (virtual credit card #’s being a big one)…Local credit unions here don’t even offer online bill pay yet :-/

  9. I wish the post wasn’t so rife with spelling errors…

That being said, no surprise here. Why would a monstrously powerful entity, affiliated with the tyrannical USG, want to support the tools of individual freedom?

  10. They are not anti 2A because Bush and the Fed gave them handouts, but they finally read the history behind the French revolution. B of A always sucked. Look, they got busted for loan fraud and went whining to the tax payer for a handout making the people they ripped off pay their way out. And Bush gave it to them. Piss on the corporate welfare queens.
What’s with the student loan industry, the govenment gave the banks the money free and charged the kids more. More corporate welfare. Maybe I’m the only lefty here, but more of us pro 2A than many give us credit for.

    • gej88,

In all respect, Bush was not alone. The Republicans and Democrats in Congress supported him. Obama essentially continued the Bush actions with both houses Democrat. Key Democrat Congressional leaders (ie Barney Frank) failed in their role as watchdog during the collapse in 2008. I’m not stating that one party was worse. I think they both stick of moral corruption.

Ultimately, the masses of people are the ones who are the pathetic sheep for without the support or indifference of the people the gross violations by the leaders would not occur.

      • Cue catastrophe, nothing less will suffice to induce change. Tragic thing is BOA and their peers are well along in producing their own, self-limiting catastrophe. Ever feel like you see the tsunami coming?

        • The masses of people lack a true moral vision and without one they will perish. Catastrophe it is though even then the executives and sheeple may not be able to see beyond their blinders. Yes, I see the tsunami coming. Seems like you do too. Back in the mid-80s when I predicted international terrorists hitting America within the next 15 years most people responded to the belief as impossible. Whatever.

  11. That really maybe the nail in their coffin for me. A friend at work was just telling me about his credit union and wow now it sounds great.

    • Poco a poco. We can choose where we do business, it does make a difference, whether it’s ever disclosed in the bought & paid for media.

No call for following no Pied Piper. He’s been having his way far too long.

  12. Pretty sure A.P. Gianinni is spinning in his grave. If half of what they say about him is true, Bank of Italy (which later became Bank of America) was a place for the little guy. That’s not who they are anymore. I worked their for years and won’t ever bank with them, based on my experience. Stick with credit unions and local small banks. My two cents.

  13. I dumped BofA a few months ago after over 20 years when they pulled the debit card fee bullshit. When the customer service representative asked me why I was closing the accounts said it was because they sucked and I no longer wished to support a government-run institution.

  14. Must have been ahead of my time, thought they sucked for a long time.
35 years ago had account with BA, attempted to cash payroll check with enough money in the account to cover the check.
I was told I had to deposit the check and wait for it to clear
    Closed the account right then

  15. I don’t like BofA either, but since when is it government owned, in whole or in part??? It has paid off all of its TARP loans, and those loans were never converted to shares or to a board of directors position for the Feds (although thye had threatened to do so).

    • They get no pass. There’s deep shenanigans we can’t easily cipher but I’ll wager you this; anything BOA paid off was done with dark dealings or cream skimmed from government conjured financial milk. These types (corporations propelled by compromised people) do not contribute to economic well being. If we could see and fathom the convoluted balance sheet of BOA they’d be driven (bankrupt) from our midst. What are they doing in the middle of everything? This too big to fail biz makes for hideous, corporate obesity. It’s unsustainable, unless you think glutenous corporations can be endlessly fed.

  16. I left BoA when they decided that they were against the Boy Scouts of America exercising it’s freedom of association.

In fact, we took our Venturing Crew’s bank account out of BoA and over to a local credit union, and actually quit loosing money.

  17. What f–kin’ moron has accounts with BoA at this point?! Pull that dough out and bank with a local credit union!! Has anyone been paying attention to the graft and fraud that has defined the so-called too big to fail banks FFS?

  18. I stripped all of my Sh*t out of them a year ago. God, it felt great! I started tracking my account only to see an “ATM Denial” charge of $1.75 show up numerous times and couldn’t get ONE manager that even knew what it was and then acted like they were doing me a favor by taking the charge off of my account. BA-BYE! I really don’t understand ANYONE who banks with institutions like this. No reason what-so-ever….

  19. Could this be the same “Bank of (South) America” that gives credit accounts to illegal aliens in the U. S. and charges a minimum $6.00 (what’s that in pesos?) fee to CASH CHECK DRAWN ON THEIR BANK?

  20. Why would anyone use Bank of America anyways?

They’re the originators of new fees for banking. Why would you want to be at the forefront of paying more for doing your banking?

  21. A matter now of just spreading the word. Aren’t there some senators that can be contacted in order to initiate some sort of investigation as to why a govertment assisted company has developed such a strong anti rights attitude. Would not this be similar or akin to discrimination due to religion, race, etc?

  22. BANK of America, like most banks in America, are apolitical. Like most banks, they asked and got their bailout… they can give a rats arse about citizens or the government. These big banks pretty much care ONLY about money. Specifically, the money they can make by ripping off their customers, or the taxpayer.

I encourage everyone to support local credit unions and their local banks. Sure, a “big bank” like BoA might seem safer, but given how predatory many of these financial institutions are these days, you’re better off with a smaller organization that focuses on building positive relationships with customers rather than a giant, faceless, money-grubbing corporation.

    • Actually many credit unions are safer and more stable than most banks since they don’t get into high-risk financial products and investments. My two credit unions also did a credit check on me to see if I met their standards before allowing me to join.

  23. So wait… You have to wait for BoA to screw you on the 2nd amendment? All the other ways in which they screw you weren’t enough?

  24. Think about this. They hate you so much that they dont even want your money. They hate the Constitution, Freedom, you and people like you so much that they bank roll the change that Obama promised. Wake up and pay attention to who else they are funding for president (Mitt Romney) and ask yourself the obvious. If they are against people who support freedom then what side are the people they give money to on. Dumb people please wake up before it is too late, I beg you to think.

    • Respectfully disagree that BOA supporting any particular candidate means that they are endorsing that candidate’s view, or that the candidate is promoting BOA’s view. It is simple political CYA, as BOA supported all candidates. This is more true now that BOA and the federal government somewhat intertwined — the higher-ups at BOA are less likely to be fired/replaced by an incoming president since they can point to campaign contribution funds.

Not defending BOA on the issue of 2A support; just pointing out that their PAC donations to candidates doesn’t mean what you’re suggesting it does.

I don’t do business with BOA by chance, but henceforth that practice will be out of design.

      • I disagree. The banks (globalists all) are the driving force. And the reason is, in two words, *interlocking directorates*!! The banksters work within and outside of FEDGOV and promote the devil’s agenda.

Banks like BOA will get the FED (also antigun) to give them money equal to or even greater than the amounts they lose, as a quid pro quo for doing Obama a favor. Then the IRS swoops in and revokes customer’s travel rights on a pretext, thus getting them thrown on the terrorist no-fly watchlist (which in turn gets you disarmed by the ATF).

No, it’s all interconnected and the war on patriots has already begun!

        • Wow, I hope you had a net underneath you for safety when you made those leaps. BoA to Fed Reserve to IRS to DHS to No Fly List with no logic or fact, just throwing Obama’s name in there. I’m not even going to go into the facts of how the IRS neither has customer lists or access to the No Fly List or the rest of the flaws in your statement, I’ll just go your route and throw a love or hate politician’s name in there for scare factor, *Schwarzenegger!*

I don’t care if you want to wear a tinfoil hat and refuse to take your meds, but stop calling yourself a patriot. You are giving the real (and sane) patriots a bad name.

  25. I didn’t get a chance to read all the comments, but I propose a boycott of B of A. They’ve been a terrible bank for a long time. When I get a decent WI-FI connection, I’ll forward this to Remington, Hornady, Silver State Armory, and Wilson Combat.

In case you are wondering, I’ve been a member of a credit union for 11 years.

  26. Well that is just another reason I quit doing Business with b.(unch of )a.(ssholes) a few years back! CARRY ON, Keep up the GOOD WORK McMillan

  27. So, what you are telling me is that I can’t walk into my local BofA to cash a check wearing a sleeveless shirt? To hell with that! I’m taking by business to Wells Fargo where they know the benefit of a good trucker’s tan!

  28. I wonder where this tentacle-bearing pile of progressives will go next. As wild and wierd as Ted Nugent sounds at times, what he has been saying is coming true. Too bad that Glenn Beck was squelched too….. he was definitely on the trail of where they were headed, then got silenced…… Kinda makes you wonder how safe this place is too, since the only ones left saying anything are in the net……………GEE, maybe that’s why the push to control the net is getting so strong…! BofA is just anther bunch of money-grubbers that are selling their mothers on the streets, so accept the facts that either flush the entire stool or live with the stench of Wasington as it has become. They are all in bed together, and just change positions when one gets tired.!

    • Glenn Beck has not been silenced…he’s in full speed with very large audience. Check out theblaze.com or GBTV. He just sold out Dallas Stadium for an event to be held in July in record time. Nuge will be there and though he may have a shocking way of saying things sometimes, if you listen closely you will hear words of wisdom coming from a man who does not particularly care who he offends if it means exposing the truth. Beck left the mainstream media to investigate and report on his own terms. I encourage you to check out his website….right after you go yank all your business from B of A.

  29. I’m a veteran and was hired by the bank last year because I “served my country honorably”. The guys in my office took me to get my CCW permit, and the bank puts on a bird hunt every year. Also, they -we bank huge and I mean HUGE names in the industry. I’m not going to pretend that I know what was said, but I don’t think it’s what is being reported.

  30. I’m not doubting the validity of the story AT ALL! However this may just be an isolated, albeit well publicised, incident.

I’ve got a really good friend who has worked for all of his professional career (white collar) in the gun industry. He’s telling me that the negative BOA incidents, although well blogged, are actually few and far between. He knows a bunch of industry related companies that have a good relationship with BOA.

It seems that NSSF is looking into the whole BOA thing: http://www.nssf.org/Industry

I’m curious to see what NSSF comes up with since they represent the gun industry not BOA or the banking industry.

As far as BOA for personal banking goes, you might get more personalised service at a credit union.

  31. Is everyone aware that this is the same company that provided special weapons for Desert Storm whose rifle stocks are on most sniper rifles used by our military who makes special purpouse weapons for seal team seven and delta force and who makes the parts for our rapid fire gattling gun. Guess their good enough for the government to ask favors of but not good enough for the bank which owes “we the people” over twenty billion dollars. PC gone wild

  32. I love how Snopes, in the face of several instances of this being documented, considers it ‘undetermined’ because BOA denies it.

Snopes is absolutely worthless when it comes to fact-finding anything related to politics, the current administration or common liberal agenda items.

    Larry

  33. I can’t believe b of a could be so stupid. Please all bank customers .change your bank asap
I will do just that! I want nothing to do with an bank that walks on my rights.
