US Attorney General Eric Holder (courtesy usatoday.com)

Since the Aug. 9 shooting death of Michael Brown, the nation and the world have witnessed the unrest that has gripped Ferguson, Mo. At the core of these demonstrations is a demand for answers about the circumstances of this young man’s death and a broader concern about the state of our criminal justice system. At a time when so much may seem uncertain, the people of Ferguson can have confidence that the Justice Department intends to learn — in a fair and thorough manner — exactly what happened . . .

Today, I will be in Ferguson to be briefed on the federal civil rights investigation that I have closely monitored since I launched it more than one week ago. I will meet personally with community leaders, FBI investigators and federal prosecutors from the Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division and the U.S. Attorney’s Office to receive detailed briefings on the status of this case.

The full resources of the Department of Justice have been committed to the investigation into Michael Brown’s death. This inquiry will take time to complete, but we have already taken significant steps. Approximately 40 FBI agents and some of the Civil Rights Division’s most experienced prosecutors have been deployed to lead this process, with the assistance of the United States Attorney in St. Louis. Hundreds of people have already been interviewed in connection with this matter. On Monday, at my direction, a team of federal medical examiners conducted an independent autopsy.

We understand the need for an independent investigation, and we hope that the independence and thoroughness of our investigation will bring some measure of calm to the tensions in Ferguson. In order to begin the healing process, however, we must first see an end to the acts of violence in the streets of Ferguson. Although these acts have been committed by a very small minority — and, in many cases, by individuals from outside Ferguson — they seriously undermine, rather than advance, the cause of justice. And they interrupt the deeper conversation that the legitimate demonstrators are trying to advance.

The Justice Department will defend the right of protesters to peacefully demonstrate and for the media to cover a story that must be told. But violence cannot be condoned. I urge the citizens of Ferguson who have been peacefully exercising their First Amendment rights to join with law enforcement in condemning the actions of looters, vandals and others seeking to inflame tensions and sow discord.

Law enforcement has a role to play in reducing tensions, as well. As the brother of a retired law enforcement officer, I know firsthand that our men and women in uniform perform their duties in the face of tremendous threats and significant personal risk. They put their lives on the line every day, and they often have to make split-second decisions.

At the same time, good law enforcement requires forging bonds of trust between the police and the public. This trust is all-important, but it is also fragile. It requires that force be used in appropriate ways. Enforcement priorities and arrest patterns must not lead to disparate treatment under the law, even if such treatment is unintended. And police forces should reflect the diversity of the communities they serve.

Over the years, we have made significant progress in ensuring that this is the case. But progress is not an endpoint; it is a measure of effort and of commitment. Constructive dialogue should continue — but it must also be converted into concrete action. And it is painfully clear, in cities and circumstances across our great nation, that more progress, more dialogue, and more action is needed.

This is my pledge to the people of Ferguson: Our investigation into this matter will be full, it will be fair, and it will be independent. And beyond the investigation itself, we will work with the police, civil rights leaders, and members of the public to ensure that this tragedy can give rise to new understanding — and robust action — aimed at bridging persistent gaps between law enforcement officials and the communities we serve. Long after the events of Aug. 9 have receded from the headlines, the Justice Department will continue to stand with this community.

As we move forward together, I ask for the public’s cooperation and patience. And I urge anyone with information related to the shooting to contact the FBI by dialing 800-CALL-FBI, option 4.

Eric H. Holder Jr. is attorney general of the United States.

    • His bias shows through in some parts, even though the statement was obviously written with the intention of being neutral. His word has been shown to mean nothing. Still, given the scope of the sh!t storm going on in that town, I suppose the Feds cannot help but get involved. We’ll see. All that aside, Holder’s statement is much more responsible than that of Gov. Nixon and some other Mo pols.

    • Neither do I. But since he’s a politician, I know those words were specifically crafted to appeal to us, rather than to in any way represent his beliefs, intentions, and actions.

    • You can hate the man, but I don’t think you can reasonably find fault with the message. Something needs to be done before it spins any further out of control, and obviously the local people thus far involved aren’t doing a very good job.

    • Exactly. We all know what Holder was thinking in this part of his speech:

“And beyond the investigation itself, we will work with the police, civil rights leaders, and members of the public to ensure that this tragedy can give rise to new understanding — and robust action — aimed at bridging persistent gaps between law enforcement officials and the communities that exist to serve us we serve.”

  1. I know a MO cop that better have lots of vaseline handy. He’s about to get phucked by an entire federal agency.

Mr. Fast and Furious running the show, we can expect justice now.

    • We demand justice! Just pay no attention to the man behind the curtain, nothing to see here.

I find it very interesting that the international community is picking up on this story and essentially saying, “you’ve got to be kidding me. The US has been giving us crap for human rights violations for years, and yet they can’t even prevent this from happening within their own borders.” You have to admit it’s a valid point. The problem is the government has been trying to lead from the rear with a “do as a say not as I do” mentality for far too long. The younger generations are catching wind of this hypocrisy and it’s ruffling feathers.

      • Prevent this from happening? You seem to assume that Sharpton’s version of events is correct. Let’s all remember that we haven’t seen all the evidence laid out yet, haven’t heard all the witnesses and subjected them to cross-examination. If the cop’s version is correct, only Brown could have prevented this from happening, by the simple measure of choosing not to attack a police officer.

  2. There is a radio statio breaking a story that Mike Brown’s accomplice in both the store robbery and the confrontion has recanted his story. The Brown did assault and charge the officer.

    • You’re white, male, therefore a racist and an elitist by definition, at least per Eric Holder’s definition, and thus there’s nobody out there to take your side or back you up when SHTF. You don’t get to talk to the attorney general, you peon. BTW this is the same Eric Holder who plays the race card each time his office or his official actions are criticized. This is what I got from Holder’s letter: a white cop shot a black guy, I’m a black guy, I’m expected to help other black people, therefore I’ll do everything I can to help my people and screw the white guy. I’ll conduct an “independent” investigation with no less than 40 (WTF???) FBI agents backing up whatever it is I set out to find, which we already know: charge the white cop with hate crimes no matter what, because that’s what the community and their leaders expect me to do. Facts be damned.

Yes, if you’re white and critical of either Obama or Holder, you MUST be a racist. That just has to be true, because my day isn’t complete without holding a few brothers down…. Give me a break.

      • ” I’m a black guy, I’m expected to help other black people, therefore I’ll do everything I can to help my people and screw the white guy.”

Regardless of what may be found to be the ‘actual’ truth in the matter. I need to gin up the vote.

      • HAH! I have to use that in a signature line somewhere. Awesome, Gene. 😀

        “Where’s my ‘community leaders?'”

        “That would be your HOA.”

    • A better question always posed by Dennis Prager is……

In 2014…..Why is the black community the only community that believes it needs “leaders”?

It’s a rhetorical question of coarse because there is no quality answer.

  3. I believe that you can be critical of someone, but still give them credit when they are doing something correctly.

    So, good on the AG.

However, with that said. Will the instigators, riotors and looters accept the fact that it was a good shoot? Or will they simply try to do more damage afterwards? Will the truth be withheld to appease the crowd and an innocent man sent to jail to prevent further riots and we accept mob rule?

Given all the emotions and instigators involved, does the real truth come out? Does everyone get a fair shake? More importantly, does anything change with the way the police engage or the abuse of SWAT Teams?

Those are my questions. My mistrust of everyone involved on all sides that are in Ferguson makes me jaded. I am uncertain if when we have a final verdict if it will be fair.

There is a lot to lose here from the integrity of the law and legal system, to the trust of the police and the role of government.

Politics is always front and center and I fear that a correct political outcome may be more desired than a correct outcome in a election year.

I don’t believe I am alone in that line of thinking

    • “give them credit when they are doing something correctly.”

How is sticking the fed’s nose into a local matter doing something correctly?

This kind of thinking is demonstrative of how far we’ve come from the Framer’s intent with the Bill of Rights.

Local, State and Federal governments are not supposed to form a hierarchy akin to lower, middle and upper management in a corporation.

Aren’t they supposed to have DIFFERENT areas of responsibility…ones that don’t really overlap all that much?

      • Holder is not setting new precedent. That ship sailed a long time ago. Given where we are, given that the locals continue to f* things up, he is not wrong in this particular action. What you want is a lot bigger than Holder and where we are today. That requires a total cultural mindset change throughout the USA. I am living in the here and now. I agree with you that we should go back to a more ideal as you describe, but that is not today and Holder is not breaking new ground. That was done way before him. Getting back what we have lost will take a lot of effort. His actions are in line with the entire Obama administration. The feds have always intervened when there has been a smell of something they feel is a civil rights abuse in the black community.

        • Both Holder and Omama will disagree with that, the feds have NEVER done their job vis-à-vis crimes by whites against blacks, that was half the imbecile’s platform. Blacks against blacks, of course, who cares? And it’s been said, in the case of black-on-white crime, that blacks are incapable of hate crimes or racism by virtue of being black. To me, it requires a certifiable moron to even suggest that.

    • I agree Pascal.

      We’ll see.

This administration is long on platitudes followed by screwing the parties that aren’t beholden.

What’s their end game and how does it benefit them? THAT’S what will determine what this administration and DOJ does.

  4. Wilson will be Zimmermaned. He will win in the end since it will be very difficult to convict him with the evidence we know exists but his life will be over. Many police officers will stop enforcing the law in selected communities because anytime something goes south they will be put in legal jeopardy. The ultimate losers will be the people like the clerk who got bullied by saintly and angelic Big Mike Brown.

    • I don’t think it is at all clear at this point that it was a good shoot. Nor that it was a bad shoot. I don’t think it is a bad thing that police be held personally responsible for their actions. Police have gotten far too used to being able to abuse the power they are entrusted with due to their de facto immunity from prosecution. That needs to end. What you will see when that happens is not a chilling effect, but a very different kind of police officer come out of the academies, one that understands that their actions have consequences, and that the union isn’t going to be able to protect them if they step over the line. Accountability to the public that is paying their salary is not a bad thing.

        • The real answer is if Holder and Obama were real man , they would get down and PRAY to God for peace and answers ………And you know what if it was from the HEART , God would answer …with Blessings far more that you ask!

      • Real accountability means a fair and honest hearing not the public lynching.that Wilson is going to receive from the local and federal prosecutors. When you turn someone into a scapegoat the message will be sent that it is better to the look the other way than do your job.

By saying that it was neither a good shoot nor bad shoot you are saying an ambiguous shoot. In the American system of justice ties goes to the accused. Sticking to the actual facts in play you could say it was an unfortunate shoot. Mr. Brown did not have to rob a store and push around the clerk and when caught by the police he had the option to surrender but attack officer Wilson instead. Michael Brown is dead because of Michael Brown’s actions not simply because he received a lethal shot from Officer Wilson.

    • The ultimate losers will be the people like the clerk who got bullied by saintly and angelic Big Mike Brown.

I think that is still short term. In the long term, no one will operate such a store within miles of that kind of area, all the law abiding citizens of the area will suffer, and the situation will get worse.

  5. After reading over the statemen a few times I would say that the preliminary investigation shows it was justifiable homicide and the public investigation will be drawn out over a year. The report will be given out on a Friday afternoon and become a distant memory.

  6. Too bad he hasn’t applied the following thinking to Fast & Furious…

“confidence that the Justice Department intends to learn — in a fair and thorough manner — exactly what happened”

“The full resources of the Department of Justice have been committed to the investigation”

“We understand the need for an independent investigation,”

“good law enforcement requires forging bonds of trust between the police and the public. This trust is all-important, but it is also fragile. It requires that force be used in appropriate ways. Enforcement priorities and arrest patterns must not lead to disparate treatment under the law, even if such treatment is unintended.”

“Our investigation into this matter will be full, it will be fair, and it will be independent. And beyond the investigation itself, we will work with the police, civil rights leaders, and members of the public to ensure that this tragedy can give rise to new understanding — and robust action — aimed at bridging persistent gaps between law enforcement officials and the communities we serve”

    • All of that has already been done if F&F, was complete in a day. It is simply never going to be released to the public. Holder knew all the way along, nothing to get to the bottom of, he did what Obama said, so everything’s fine, nothing more to say. Contempt of Congress? You could have just asked, I could tell you all about our contempt.

  7. “…when they are doing something correctly.”. Holder isn’t DOING anything. He is just talkin’. You know… Purty wurdz for the masses. This gives him stage to perform a diversionary play to distract from F n F.

  8. The officer sustained a physical injury that will alter his career to a lesser or larger extent, now Holder will injure his career by forcing at least some guilt on him. Is there any doubt of his intentions?

  9. Is Holder filled with race hate or what ?, He also hates everything American…And this is a CRIME SITE ………not a soap box to push SOCIALIST hate………The Feds .. need to fix America , start with some new roads and bridges etc….

  10. Why, as part of a federal criminal investigation, are “community leaders” being consulted? Unless they were present during the incident in question, nothing they say should have any weight. The only thing that should be considered is factual evidence, and eyewitness testimony…nothing more, nothing less.

All the cries for justice…justice takes time, and under our system, only comes after a fair trial. Investigations take time. People should be demanding answers to what actually happened….if the officer acted unlawfully, he should be made to face that, but so far, aside from conjecture and the purely speculatory narratives put forth in major media, I’ve seen nothing to indicate he did.

Yes, the response to the protests/riots may not have been the best choice…yes, the crime scene should have been blocked off from public view. None of that has anything to do with what actually occurred.

It has been said that the officer wasn’t contacting Brown because of the robbery. That doesn’t mean Brown didn’t think that he was about to be arrested for that crime, and give him the state of mind of a man facing arrest. No one ever resists arrest, and certainly no officer has died after losing their duty weapon… I’m sure there are those that will say that the officers orbital fracture occurred when Brown was raising his hands to surrender.

Maybe the officer didn’t want to end up like any of these that didn’t prevail in a lethal struggle with a felon in these cases:
    http://www.mlive.com/news/detroit/index.ssf/2010/11/jonathan_belton_now_18_found_g.html

    http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hank_Earl_Carr

    http://www.odmp.org/officer/15459-sergeant-christopher-michael-wouters

    • It has been said that the officer wasn’t contacting Brown because of the robbery.

A lot has been said about a lot. Supposedly, the cop was called away from what he was doing in order to respond to the robbery, but he was not contacting Brown because of the robbery. Say what?

  11. Apparently, he has no problem with people peacefully excercising their first amendment rights. Then, why the hell does he have a problem with me, exercising my second amendment rights? What a pain in the ass!

      • Not sure what you read … the cited article is pretty clear that the group is planning an armed march in Dallas in a few days that will be very similar to other open-carry rallies.

      • “The group plans to walk along the sidewalk on MLK Boulevard, in what is being referred to as an “armed self-defense patrol.” A spokesperson for the gun group said that the event would be similar to an open carry rally.”

Since open carry of sidearms will get them arrested (unless they happen to be peace officers) then it pretty much has to be rifles in Texas. Living in Dallas, I would be delighted if a hundred black men did do an open carry demonstration. To bad there is not a Kroger on MLK.

        • Truth be told, I would be delighted if 100 black men, or anyone else, did an OC demonstration of HANDGUNS, and announced it in advance, inviting (daring) LEO to arrest and attempt to prosecute. My $$ would be on the way immediately, but my ass is too old for that crap. Face it; the law against OC of handguns in TX is unconstitutional. Even by the TX constitution!

  12. “… the people of Ferguson can have confidence that the Justice Department intends to learn — in a fair and thorough manner — exactly what happened . . .”

And we will find a scapegoat to throw to the media wolves, because we don’t want to embarrass the Democrat governor/Senator/Representatives from Missouri..

    • The only real answer is too easy! Obama and Holder need to get down and REPENT and pray with a real heart……..God says PRIDE goes before the FALL! and he also says in their WISDOM they became FOOLS……..That is the only way to PEACE . (anywhere) nothing else will work ,,,Count on it……….AMERICA needs to REPENT NOW… the day of the LORD comes QUICK!

      • Hard to get that all on a placard on a stick.
        How about:
        “The End is at Hand”
And aren’t we all glad that the made up stories in the Bible are way truer that the made up stories of the Koran.

        • The Bible claims to be fact, not fiction. What is your evidence that demonstrates the Bible is “made up stories”?

        • The bible was written by men, pretending to speak for a god. That takes care of the entirety of your question about biblical pretenses. Otherwise, here I am, and I am a fact. Have god come here and say the same. Not gonna happen, and if it does, my money says it looks like a glowing squid.
Beyond that, where is the HD video? And the bible’s claims are fiction.

        • America can END in one DAY by a EMP attack, that the fed’s have done nothing about…The Feds have lots of very important stuff to do and do it not…and wrong again God wrote every word of the BIBLE ……….I will PRAY for you that you not go into HELL … You have now been told…….run and get the Bible ……..your life counts on it………..PLEASE for yourself… The PEACE of God that passes all understanding is the only ANSWER…May all take of it while time is still left ………Like a hour glass the sand runs out ……..TIME WILL ALSO RUN OUT…REPENT = to turn around = do about face…

    • Rockin’ it Reno-style? Now you’re showing me something!

Ahhh……..gotta love our girl Janet “I love the smell of incendiary devices in the morning” Reno. Reno puts the OG in AG.

    • Awe, he aint that bad.. I know chicks that would do him in a pinch…. but then,… i know chicks that would do reno in a pinch too….. Oh never mind.. carry on.

  13. Sorry. He talks a good game but his word means nothing and EVERYONE knows it. There can be no good coming out of this and he should stay the hell out of Missouri.

    Tom

  14. Just STFU, Holder. You never had credibility from the get-go and you’re not garnering any now, Mr. Fast & Furious.

  15. “At the same time, good law enforcement requires forging bonds of trust between the police and the public. This trust is all-important, but it is also fragile.”
Mr. H, practice what you preach.
    Please.

  16. How many black on black deaths happen in Chicago each day? Where is the outrage for that? Because the officer was white and shot a black man it becomes a circus. Black cop shooting a white guy – all the Caucasians would be looting and stealing from their community (not).

Then all the race merchants show up like Sharpton and Jackson to fan the flames with pure oxygen and gasoline.

The country has gone downhill since 2008.

    • “Once I rob a bank in Texas; your government get after me with a whole army… whole army! One little bank. Is clear the meaning: in Texas, only Texans can rob banks.”

Is clear the meaning: in America, only black people can kill black people.

  17. Well it’s about time! Looks like the administration has this thing just about wrapped up, now that the Agitator General has parachuted on to the scene. Maybe now we can finally have one of the courageous, non-cowardly conversations about race relations, a topic which neeeevveerr seems to come up in this country.

  18. The only charges in this should be Brown’s friend for robbery and civil lawsuits towards the police department and state police for failing to do the job they were paid for. Looters should have been surrounded at each location and arrested or put down with force on the first night. Standing back and allowing them to destroy property and steal is not acceptable. Also after the arrest the names as well as where they came from should have been published. It would’ve been interesting to see how many of them were outsiders.

  19. Sorry, don’t believe a word that comes out of Holder’s mouth. He has an agenda and the truth isn’t included. He’s the reason why the filibuster should never have been eliminated…

  20. Has anyone else noticed that Eric Holder in plastic-framed eyeglasses would look just like Groucho Marx? Give that man a cigar!

  21. Let me save you a trip Eric. Here is what happened….

18 year old 6′ 4″ 300 lb MAN, robs a store with his buddy and roughs up the owner, threatening him.

They are stopped by a police office for standing in the middle of the street in the middle of the day. They tell this police office to F-Off.

Officer pulls ahead and over to watch them. At that same time the APB goes out about the robbery and the description of these fine youg MEN, is dead on.

The Police Officer back up and tries to get out of his car. He is shoved back into the car by Brown. He is punched in the face by Brown.

The Police Officer goes for his gun, Brown either tries to block that move or take the gun from the Police Officer. In the struggle the gun goes off. Brown backs up and a away from the car as a result of the gun shot.

The Police Officer gets out of the car and demands Brown halt. Brown taunts the Police Officer. Brown then charges the Police Officer.

The Police Officer knowing that Brown just strong-arm robbed a store, pushed him back in the car, punched him in the face and went for his gun is now charging him. The Police Officer fires his weapon to stop Brown.

The autopsy already shows he was not shot in the back. I betting that the TOX report shows us something as well. I have read that those stolen cigars are often hollowed out to allow other substances to be put in them.

That is it. Unless you want to charge his genius buddy for robbery and flat out lying multiple times, all caught on TV camera’s.

No need to go to MO. No need for all of those agents to come either. The state of MO can handle its own problems and if you and all of those people don’t go there it will save the tax payers MILLIONS of dollars.

  22. Even if this lying sack of $&#@ actually does what he says he will do, how is that different then the last half dozen leadership changes.

  23. OK, no matter what you think of Holder, you have to agree with a few basic facts:

    1. This statement was almost certainly worded very, very carefully.
    2. It goes out of its way to cite the qualifications of the investigators, to describe a fair process, to promise thoroughness and inclusion (e.g., “consulting community leaders,” etc.).
    3. The administration has to know they’re dealing with a powder keg in Ferguson.
    4. Midterm elections, potentially very important ones, are coming up.
    5. It’s pretty likely that Holder knows more than the rest of us do.

If those ideas are even somewhat true — and none of them are exactly going out on a limb, right? — then a completely new question pops up:

If Holder had information that basically exonerated the officer … and he knew that that information was going to come out eventually … and he wanted to avoid full-blown civic uprising in Ferguson … and he wanted to protect the Democrats in the upcoming midterms … and he knows that now it’s his responsibility to share an “inconvenient truth” (i.e., that it was a good shoot) with a constituency that, frankly, is about as pissed-off as people can get … how would he word his statement describing the process he’s going to follow in investigating the incident?

Very carefully, and with a conspicuous emphasis on fairness, inclusiveness and objectivity.

Is it possible he knows what the investigation is going to find, and he’s simply preparing Brown’s family, the protesters, Spike Lee, Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Benjamin Crump, etc. for the reality that Michael Brown makes a crappy poster child for their cause?

My prediction: Wilson will be exonerated. Holder’s investigation will conveniently uncover “other” “pre-existing biases” in the way Ferguson is policed. They’ll also throw the local chieftains to the bus for the overly aggressive response (MRAPs, aimed rifles, jackbooting journalists trying to do their jobs, etc.) to the protest. New management will be brought in to appease concerns, possibly under a federal consent decree.

I could be way off, and I would welcome any dissection of this theory. But it seems (to me) to be pretty likely.

    • The Feds. have no grounds or rights in this matter, We have a Constitution and Obama and Holder need to follow it… We are ruled by the Constitution , We have no KING, someone please tell Obama and Holder………..

    • Holder’s goal, most likely, is to delay any actual factual releases until after the elections. This entire administration’s goal is to prevent the public from finding out what is going on, until after some election. Otherwise, they have nothing. Did I say “actual factual”? Sheesh.

      • It could be worse — such releases could be mandated by a signed agreement, in which case they’d be contractual-actual-factual.

And (with apologies to Uncle Remus) everything would be satisfactual.

        • NOTICE: This is a report :by a ex-Marine Gunner: Ferguson shot pattern Vindicates officer Wilson ::::::::::::;It is at //www.thenewamerican.com/usnews/crime/item/18956 (8/20/2014) and the Brown family autopsy will vindicate officer Wilson…..and all supports Wilson’s story……….You can say all you want………but in the end you can not destroy TRUTH……….America needs to pull together and stand with this BRAVE policeman…….it is a win/win peace and justice will win out……….

  24. ” I know firsthand that our men and women in uniform perform their duties in the face of tremendous threats and significant personal risk. They put their lives on the line every day, and they often have to make split-second decisions.”

So does the road construction flagger standing on the freeway.. so Whats your point??

  25. They all said, “Let him be crucified!”And he said, “Why, what evil has he done?” But they shouted all the more, “Let him be crucified!

    • Although I haven’t formed a solid opinion one way or the other regarding the initial incident; this sounds like how things are shaping up, regardless of what facts surface in the end.

  26. Benghazi, CIA spying, IRS scandal, etc…eh, no big deal. Black guy possibly murdered by white cop = FULL FORCE OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT BROUGHT TO BEAR. And I am not saying that Brown was innocent or guilty, just that using so much resources for something like this as opposed to the real scandals is just crazy.

    • Other scandals notwithstanding, “black guy possibly murdered by white cop with resulting civil unrest on a scale almost never seen in the U.S.” would be more accurate, not to mention appropriate to bring federal resources to bear. And there’s precedent for federal involvement when civil rights violations are alleged, particularly on an institutional level.

Note that I am not defending Holder specifically. But look at it this way — if the facts serve to completely exonerate Wilson (and I think that’s the way things are heading), the protesters are never going to believe any investigation conducted by the locals or even the state. That leaves the feds, and say what you will about the politics of the DOJ, they do have considerable investigative and lab resources at their disposal.

Wilson deserves a fair investigation, the decent people in Ferguson deserve peace, and we all need to move forward. That seems like a good use of a few zillion bucks.

      • Those are some good points, but it seems to me that this administration isn’t getting involved so that the people will believe it if the officer is exonerated but more out of a belief that he is guilty. I understand about federal involvement over civil rights violations, but this doesn’t strike me as that. If the officer was black or if Michael Brown had been white, we probably wouldn’t be hearing anything about this incident even.

  27. Holder is without scruples, the bag man for Obama, just as he was for Clinton on the Marc Rich pardon.
He refused to investigate the New Black Panthers threatening voters outside a polling place in Philly.
TTAG has covered his stonewalling and contempt of Congress on F&F, and his abuse of Federal influence in the Zimmerman case.

Holder announced he would reverse the politicization the left accused Bush of doing in the DOJ Civil Rights division. http://www.civilrights.org/archives/2009/01/19-holder-civil-rights.html

Instead, and as many who only get their news from CNN dont know, covered only by a lonely few conservative pundits- for example, here:

is how Holder has in fact radicalized ALL sections of the DOJ, with a hiring process that has without fail, chosen every single new hire from radical backgrounds.

Read the eleven part series at pjmedia, or just these two to start, by authors with extensive experience:

Holder has bragged about his student activism, including membership in a black student group that two years earlier had taken over a building in Columbia, while armed with guns, and again, in 1970, again as an armed group took over an abandoned ROTC area, to demand it be turned into a student lounge for black students.

Holder has bragged about his current DOJ policy decisions, including being proud to be called an activist AG.

Anyone who is taken in by his “reasonable tone” and words is a fool. Actions speak louder than words.

  28. OK, skimming all the rants and getting to the meat, so to speak… READ EVERY WORD HE SAID. EVERY WORD.

To begin with, “…the federal civil rights investigation that I have closely monitored since I launched it more than one week ago.”
Wait, WHAT? Was I asleep? Oh, the announcement was a couple of days ago. OK, he misplaced his calendar.

He’s saying, in as many words as possible, that he took a trip to a St. Louis suburb to listen to people in uniforms tell him that they don’t have the faintest idea what’s going on, or what to do with all the “military toyz” they got for free from the Feds because the media all around the world is hopping mad at them for using it.

He then says he’s sending the Federal lawyers down, but he really doesn’t say why they are coming.

Then he wraps up by saying that he hopes the whole thing blows over so he can go home and forget about it.

Just my read of his statement, having had to plow through Bureaucratic Bullsh1t (R) and decipher it for over 30 years.

  29. Fellas, I’m sure mr. holder has almost no intentions of instructing agents to supply the protesters and black panthers with any more M4s than normal, or ordering the local police to withhold much more exculpatory evidence.
