From foxnews.com:

In a second, equally explosive disclosure, a law enforcement source tells Fox News, that ATF undercover agents were acting as the straw buyers and purchasing guns using government-issued false identifications and then providing those guns to cartel traffickers to gain credibility in their undercover roles. In that capacity, the ATF “provided 2, 50 cal. machine guns to traffickers that are loose in Mexico and unaccounted for,” the source said.

  1. Its amazing how the government paints every citizen as barely competent to live on their own yet break every common sense rule in the book. We keep starting these new wars on darn near everything for no reason. If we just legalized things we could eliminate most of the problems.

  2. Are they actually machine guns, or are they just semi-automatic rifles? The M2 is in a whole different dimension of hurt from an M82.

  3. And you believe what FoxNews reports – why? Seems to me that Sunday night when they were reporting about BinLadens death, they were claiming that he had been killed a week earlier. Funny thing is that was what some Islamic/Arabic news reports were saying at the time.
I will wait for more proof before I take this as gospel.
And I agree with Adam, lets legalize stuff, like Marijuana (tax the h3ll out of it) and declare victory in the war on drugs. Let the hippies in Cal, Co, Ia, etc grow it and keep the money here in the U.S..

  4. Wow, this is just freaking great! The ATF can do trivial crap like bust you if you put a vertical fore grip on any stockless pistol like the Kel Tec PLR 16, but they feed Browning HMG’s to killers! We’ll have to start putting tanks on the border-WTF! Here’s to hoping they don’t know how to adjust headspace.

  5. Putting a foregrip takes it out of pistol status on a platform that is already imo questionable. Cool range toys, but as far as being “true” pistols in the standard accepted way they are nothing but ways around SBR for lame states, and trying to get cheap on the form 4 in others. Can’t “holster” one or do 90% of the other things meant to be done with a pistol, pretty much require 2 hands, etc etc. Do I think they should ban them, no, but I do think they are stupid and a person would be 10x better off with a real SBR Ar-15 in 7-10inch barrel with an actual stock, etc.

  6. Dude, this is way outta hand. First off, if anyone thinks that two thousand guns in the hands of murderous bastards is a big deal then please move to Chicago and send their loved ones to NYC. Secondly, ATF screwed the pooch and the A.G. knows it, will not admit it and F all is being done down here on the border to prevent drug related violence. Lastly, we need to dis-enpower the drug cartels by letting stoners get stoned on legal (read taxed to the max) weed and powder cocaine. Len Bias aside, I will say this, sheeple like to get high and there is nothing law engorgement (yes I meant it) can do prevent it. WTF are we doing fighting a 40 years war against a victimless crime. I will tell you what we are doing; we are allowing folks like Robert Krentz to be slaughtered because America is a place where drug abuse is a criminal offence and NOT a mental health issue. People kill people when there is a good enough reason. Money is the root of all evil and a helluva good reason. The difference between a tool and a weapon is intent. I can chop firewood or Lizzie Borden you to death, the question is motivation. All that I can hope for is political pragmatism. Aside from all this I will say that a Fish and Game officer here in southern AZ had a chat with me when I was out bow hunting mule deer a few years back. We talked about deer and gear after I showed him my license and tag. My G17 and spare mag was in plain sight, he and I knew it was a violtion of regs to be armed whilst bow hunting, but he understood exactly why and never said a word.
