A man with a gun walked into Chabad of Poway yesterday during services marking the last day of Passover and opened fire. The final toll: one dead and three injured, including Rabbi Yisroel Goldstein. As horrible as this incident was, it likely would have been much worse had the synagogue not taken measures to protect its congregants.

An armed off-duty US Border Patrol officer was there and returned fire when the shooting began, undoubtedly saving lives. There are also indications that the shooter’s rifle may have jammed.

All of this will no doubt be revealed as the investigation progresses. Still, look for the forces of civilian disarmament — many of whom express shock and horror at the idea of firearms in places of worship — to try to use this crime (which took place in a state with some of the strictest gun control laws in the nation), as justification to push for still more restrictions on civilian gun ownership.

Here’s the AP’s story on the latest that’s known . . .

POWAY, Calif. (AP) — A 19-year-old gunman opened fire inside a synagogue near San Diego as worshippers celebrated the last day of a major Jewish holiday, killing a woman and wounding the rabbi and two others Saturday, authorities said.

President Donald Trump and other elected officials decried what they called an anti-Semitic attack exactly six months since 11 people were killed at a Pittsburgh synagogue in the deadliest assault on Jews in U.S. history.

There were indications an AR-type assault weapon might have malfunctioned after the gunman, identified as John Earnest, fired numerous rounds inside the Chabad of Poway, San Diego County Sheriff William Gore said.

An off-duty Border Patrol agent working as a security guard fired at the shooter as he ran away, missing him but striking his getaway vehicle, San Diego County Sheriff William Gore said.

Shortly after fleeing, Earnest called 911 to report the shooting, San Diego Police Chief David Nisleit said. When an officer reached him on a roadway, “the suspect pulled over, jumped out of his car with his hands up and was immediately taken into custody,” Nisleit said.

The sheriff said a girl and two men, including the rabbi, were wounded as the Jewish congregation gathered for Passover, a weeklong commemoration of the deliverance of the ancient Hebrews from slavery in Egypt. The three were in stable condition at hospitals.

A Jewish leader in the San Diego area identified the victims of the shooting.

Lori Kaye, 60, of Poway was killed, Rabbi Yonah Fradkin, executive director of Chabad of San Diego County, said in a statement. Those injured in the shooting Saturday were Rabbi Yisroel Goldstein, Noya Dahan, 8, and Almog Peretz, 34, he said.

“In the face of senseless hate we commit to live proudly as Jews in this glorious country,” Fradkin said. “We strongly believe that love is exponentially more powerful than hate. We are deeply shaken by the loss of a true woman of valor, Lori Kaye, who lost her life solely for living as a Jew.”

Earnest has no criminal record, but investigators were looking into a claim he made in an online manifesto about setting a fire at a mosque in nearby Escondido last month, Gore said. There was damage but no injuries.

Gore said authorities were reviewing copies of his social media posts and were investigating the attack as a possible hate crime in the city of Poway, just over 20 miles (32 kilometers) north of San Diego.

A person identifying themselves as John Earnest posted an anti-Jewish screed online about an hour before the attack. The poster described himself as a nursing school student and praised the suspects accused of carrying out deadly attacks on mosques in New Zealand last month and at Pittsburgh’s Tree of Life synagogue Oct. 27.

California State University, San Marcos, confirmed Earnest was a student on the dean’s list and said the school was “dismayed and disheartened” that he was suspected in “this despicable act.”

There was no known threat after Earnest was arrested, but authorities boosted patrols at places of worship as a precaution, police said.

Minoo Anvari, a member of the synagogue, told media outlets that her husband was inside during the shooting. She said he called to tell her the shooter was shouting and cursing.

She called the shooting “unbelievable” in a peaceful and tight-knit community.

“We are strong; you can’t break us,” Anvari said.

Donny Phonea, who lives across the street from the synagogue, turned off his power drill and heard someone shout, “Police!” Then he heard three or four shots.

The 38-year-old bank auditor looked over his backyard fence facing the synagogue and saw people hiding behind an electrical box in the parking lot of a neighboring church. At that point, he knew something was “very, very wrong,” went inside and closed his doors and garage.

“I’m a little taken aback,” said Phonea, who moved to Poway two weeks ago. “I moved here because safety was a factor. Poway is very safe.”

Trump offered his sympathies Saturday, saying the shooting “looked like a hate crime.”

“Our entire nation mourns the loss of life, prays for the wounded and stands in solidary with the Jewish community,” Trump said later at a rally in Wisconsin. “We forcefully condemn the evils of anti-Semitism and hate, which must be defeated.”

He praised law enforcement’s “incredible response” and singled out the off-duty Border Patrol agent who “bravely returned fire and helped disrupt the attack and saved so many lives.”

The sheriff said the gun possibly malfunctioned.

The mayor of Poway, who tweeted that he got a call from the president offering help, also denounced what he called a hate crime.

“I want you know this is not Poway,” Mayor Steve Vaus said. “We always walk with our arms around each other and we will walk through this tragedy with our arms around each other.”

Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom said he joins the community in grief.

“No one should have to fear going to their place of worship, and no one should be targeted for practicing the tenets of their faith,” he said.

  1. “I moved here because safety was a factor. Poway is very safe.”

Where you ‘feel safest’, is where you are most vulnerable.

How safe do feel in your own home?

    • I keep a loaded gun on my desk, among other measures, I’m very safe. When I get the money and redo some of the rooms, I may add a bullet resistant material on the bottom 2′ of the walls and put a nice decorative wall piece over it.

    • ‘Poway (insert any city/town/community here) is very safe’. Only if YOU make it so for you and yours.

  2. A 19-year-old gunman

Cue the Demanding Mommies in 3…2…1…
We need to raise the minimum shooting age to 21, or 80, or 100, or something…

  3. Thankfully, they had the off duty USBP agent there and he returned fire. Evil exists everywhere, even in God’s house. I carry to church and everywhere else I go, and always at home. I don’t understand the liberal viewpoint that self defense is immoral. It’s the most moral thing you can do.

    • Sorry but he didn’t do a damn thing. Fired at the already fleeing shooter and missed. How do you manage to still drink the coolaid when you can’t get the NRA/Trump/2A dick out of your mouth

      • If, or when, a situation arises where a stranger chooses to save your life I hope you get the opportunity to look back and realize what a wretched, miserable human you truly are.

      • The article does not say why the murderer was running away. There are two obvious possibilities:

        1. The murderer saw an armed congregant pointing a gun at him, turned and ran.
        2. The murderer suddenly decided he was finished killing people and just decided to run away for no particular reason whatsoever.

Now which of those two do you think is most likely?

        • And one other possibility, perhaps less obvious:

          His gun jammed.

The off-duty BP officer fired at him from a distance, I understand, missing with multiple shots but hitting his vehicle. His actions were good, but it is not clear from this that he saved the synagogue from “an even greater carnage.” The jamming gun appears to have accomplished that.

It was described in the media as an AR-15, but I have seen it described elsewhere as a handgun. What was it?

I obtained the manifesto, and read it. Ugly, of course. He hated Trump and conservatives as well as Jews and all non-whites.

        • “His actions were good, but it is not clear from this that he saved the synagogue from “an even greater carnage.” The jamming gun appears to have accomplished that.”

How long does it take to clear a jammed rifle? How long is someone willing to spend trying to clear a jammed rifle when someone is running toward them with a gun?

I think there is PLENTY of evidence that the armed congregant saved lives.

        • “And one other possibility, perhaps less obvious:

          His gun jammed.”

…and that is what this evening’s news is reporting…

      • N said: “Sorry but he didn’t do a damn thing. Fired at the already fleeing shooter and missed.”

        WRONG.
“Although missing, the Border Patrol Agent took aim and fired at the gunman, who was startled and in turn, fled the scene.” source: https://www.halseynews.com/2019/04/28/poway-synagogue-armed-and-protected/

N said: “How do you manage to still drink the coolaid when you can’t get the NRA/Trump/2A dick out of your mouth”

You and the murderer have a much in common. This is from his manifesto:
        “’Are you a Trump supporter?’
You mean that Zionist, Jew-loving, anti-White, traitorous cocksucker? Don’t make me laugh.”

      • IT is OUR Constitutional right to carry a firearm and be able to defend ourselves so you need to pull that Democratic anti gun and anti second amendment titty out of your mouth and pull your head out of your ass because statements like you have made clearly you don’t belong in my country you can take your communist ass to some other country that don’t have guns if you don’t like it

    • “An off-duty Border Patrol agent working as a security guard fired at the shooter as he ran away, missing him but striking his getaway vehicle, San Diego County Sheriff William Gore said.”

The off duty agent did NOT stop the shooting. What was he doing during the shooting???????

      • The article does not say why the murderer was running away. There are two obvious possibilities:

        1. The murderer saw an armed congregant pointing a gun at him, turned and ran.
        2. The murderer suddenly decided he was finished killing people and just decided to run away.

Now which of those two do you think is most likely?

        • The article stated that the gunman’s rifle jammed. Its likely thats why he started running. THEN the agent fired.

        • How long does it take to clear a jammed rifle? How long is someone willing to spend trying to clear a jammed rifle when someone is running toward them with a gun?

I think there is PLENTY of evidence that the armed congregant saved lives.

        • Like most criminals, these spree shooters tend not to be POTG, so I doubt he even knew how to clear his gun. The Aurora theater shooter left with a hundred round mag that was half full because of an uncleared malfunction. He exited the theater under no threat and was confronted in the parking lot by police.

      • I hear that the agent was inside at the time of the shooting. It was said he confronted the shooter, the shooter then ran to his car (he didn’t plan to die according to his manifesto), as the shooter tried to escape the agent shot at him but missed. I also heard the shooter called police and gave up.

So, if this is true, the gun inside stopped the gun that came from outside. Which saved many people. It would have been a mass shooting, according to the shooter himself, as he states he planned to get a “high score.” Usually we can’t prove that a mass shooting was stopped by a gun because the mass shooting didn’t happen, but in this case we know what the plan was, therefore we can rightly claim a mass shooting was stopped.

It’s possible the shooter used a California legal AR where you have to pop open the gun to reload. It’s much more cumbersome to reload in this manner if not trained. This can appear to be a malfunction to people who don’t have to live with such a restriction or are ignorant to firearms.

        • Prior shootings have often been ended when the killer met resistance. I believe Parkland, Aurora and the Oregon mall had weapon malfunctions. Columbine had a security guard fire from outside and the killer then retreated. Cruz tried to fire through hurricane resistant glass, then stopped.
The training I received emphasized how quick there’s attacks are and how the incredibly distracted the shooter is.
From the current reports the killer started his attack and then received some sort of resistance. That was the reason he broke and ran. Notice that he put up no resistance when stopped by police.
My two cents. There was a good guy with a gun.

      • “The off duty agent did NOT stop the shooting. What was he doing during the shooting???????”

The off duty agent stopped the shooting, the cowardly murderer fled when he received resistance. That’s why the massacre stopped.

      • @Bill, go away troll. I’m as far from liberal as the moon is from your tiny brain…Apparently comprehending what you read is an undeveloped skill for you.

  4. So he mebbe set fire to a mosque?!? Equal opportunity azzhole…Trump will still be blamed. As will all gun owner’s. NZ copycat?

    • The shooter was engaging in a “holy war.” He was inspired by people on 8Chan to commit the attack. He and others consider the Christchurch killer to be a man of great honor and they respect his deeds. They too want to get a “high score” by murdering non whites and non Christians in order to save Western civilization.

He did not like Trump nor did the Christchurch and Tree of Life killers. To them the only good thing about Trump is him being white, outside of that he is a traitor — a puppet of Netanyahu and Kushner. The Tree of Life killer specifically chose that synagogue because Trump got a Tree of Life award and they are participating in bringing in refugees.

So Trump isn’t what a lot of people say he is. He isn’t an anti Jewish white nationalist. However, Trump is creating the same consequences. Having Trump as president is radicalizing some Christians and white people against the Jewish people. These radicals are starting to behave like Muslims. I wouldn’t be surprised if in the future they team up with Muslims to attack Jewish people to stop their religious goals.

A lot of people are going to downplay the attack as just some crazy kid doing crazy stuff. He wasn’t crazy nor was he stupid. People don’t want to accept that a young white Christian could do such a thing. They don’t want to acknowledge that Christians and white males are being radicalized like Muslims have been. They just want to blame Muslims and Arabs.

  5. I heard a credible report that the off-duty Border Patrol agent was a member of the synagogue and was actually not armed. Rather, after the attacker started his attack, the off-duty agent retrieved a firearm (my guess a handgun?) from a discrete, secured location inside the synagogue.

If that is true, that mostly likely delayed the off-duty agent’s response time to engage the attacker with deadly force — and it would explain why the off-duty agent was only able to put shots into the attacker’s vehicle as he fled the scene.

The source that I reviewed also claimed that this particular synagogue had just implemented their security protocol a few months ago. And I imagine that would have been when the synagogue stashed their self-defense firearm inside the building.

For reference my source is Fox News channel on Sunday morning between 8:00 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. (or possibly between 9:00 a.m. and 9:15 a.m.) if I remember the timerame correctly.

    • Secured location? I wonder if that was because of a local storage law. Timing is everything. Same thing would happen it us if we had to have ours locked in safe. Wait, wait bad guy…. I can’t remember the code/combination.

      • Victoria,

I am nearly certain that California requires secure storage. (Good catch.)

I imagine that the synagogue figured it would make sense to have a centrally stored firearm onsite that would be available to any number of authorized synagogue members.

That actually makes a lot of sense when you realize that only a handful of people are able to acquire concealed carry licenses in the coastal counties of Southern California. Since no one has a concealed carry license — and therefore cannot legally carry a handgun between home and the synagogue — keeping a firearm available inside the synagogue seems like the next best solution.

Having said all that, I don’t understand why the authorized members of the synagogue did not simply arm themselves upon entering the synagogue (and then disarm right before leaving). If the synagogue decided that the risk of an attack was serious enough to have a centrally-located firearm on site, why not have authorized members actually carry it onsite?

        • A Federal Agent is exempt from California firearms laws. I have to ask why he simply didn’t carry his duty weapon. If he is dressed in a coat and tie he can easily conceal a full sized pistol. I carry my full sized 10mm when I go to church and nobody notices.

        • tdiinva,

Are federal agents exempt from California’s firearm laws when said federal agents are off-duty and not driving to/from their home to work? If they are not exempt, that would explain why the off-duty Border Patrol agent was unarmed. (Note that I have read state firearm laws which exempt military personnel only while performing official duties and driving to/from said official duties.)

Even if California does exempt off-duty federal agents from its firearm laws, I can easily picture the synagogue itself banning its members from being armed in the building — even members who are law enforcement officers. As insane as that might sound, the president of my church actually inquired about our legal options to ban members who are law enforcement officers from being armed in church. If my church president thought about this, I can guarantee that synagogues in California have thought of it.

        • In the US LEOs are on duty 24/7. They either on shift or off shift. If a LEO sees a crime in progress when they are off shift they have the legal authority to and are generally expected to respond. This requires them to be armed. Even if State law were to limit police powers to on duty officers it would have no effect on a federal officer. It falls under federal supremecy.

A Rabbi,or Minister could declare the building off limits since he could be there in an unofficial capacity. Presumably, a member of the congregation would honor the Rabbi or minister’s request. And so do I. I was at a baptism today at a church that was posted. I left the gun at home.

  6. The California governor “…joins the community is grief”. Translation: ” now we can pass more gun laws”. He doesn’t care about you, me, them.

    • Politically correct, virtue-signalling retards help to precipitate situations like this by removing the ability of people to defend themselves. Cowardly shooters are only limited by their own incompetence, realizing there’s no immediate deterrence and take advantage of the fact. Afterward, the self-righteous SJWs gain media coverage praying for the dead and demand people who weren’t involved take the blame.
      Sanctimonious b*sta*rds. They’re revolting.

    • The governor doesn’t like that death penalty. He believes it is immoral. He put a stop to executions. The shooter knows this and he thinks he will be let out with enough time to start a family.

      • Immoral or not, death penalty appeals are so hideously expensive–multiple millions in fact–that it is cheaper to sentence to lie without the possibility of parole than it is to try to execute anyone in this state. and that is to say nothing of the difficulty on obtaining the drugs necessary to do the deed, with manufacturers refusing to sell.

  7. I just returned from a 3 day National Christian Protectors Conference in Kansas City put on by Strategos International, one of the premiere training companies offering elite training and protective services for schools, churches and businesses. 500 attendees spent 3 days in fellowship and training on how to enhance the protection of their congregations.
Bottom line: get armed, get training, and be prepared to protect those you love, be they family or fellow congregants.

    • “He fired one fucking shot and missed. This website is ridiculous.”

WRONG AGAIN, N. “The BP[agent] fired ****several**** shots into the car, blowing out the back window and possibly hitting a tire.”

  8. “We strongly believe that love is exponentially more powerful than hate.

I’m sorry, did I miss where Jon Anderson was interviewed?

  9. Yesterday evening my wife and I were at a sold out theater production. Signs on the door proudly proclaimed guns and other weapons prohibited. Unfortunately in this state, the signs have the power of state law behind them. A full house of targets and not a cop in sight, even though we were a couple of blocks from police HQ.

    • @ATTAG: Why put yourselves in danger, avoid places that ban guns, don’t patronize businesses that don’t care about their customers. The only place I go where I can’t carry a gun in a courtroom or the post office.

      • Screw the PO. If it is concealed and no metal detectors, I carry. I will not disarm, I will not be a target. If the so called elite can pick and choose which laws to obey, so can I. Civil disobedience is the peoples method of nullification of unjust laws.

        • A young black man did that and was shot in the back multiple times by a cop. Then a lot of people blamed the victim for carry a gun in a place that has a sign saying no guns.

You won’t get sympathy from gun owners if you are wrongly shot dead by police.

        • @daveinwyo I only enter P.O. under protest… LOL but I want to retain my LTC, so I obey the law for now, but as far as I am concerned, all gun/knife/whatever control laws are unconstitutional, as our right of self defense trumps some whiny ass liberal ( N & D commentators ) feelings . Fortunately I live in a state that has strong ties to gun ownership and use. I left a state that turned it back on the U.S. Constitution and it’s own Constitution.

    • My wife thinks I’m marginally paranoid for being nervous in crowds or hyper-aware in public places.
She’s right, but given the fact I’ve been shot at, rocketed, mortared and a hapless potential target of a failed IED it’s my opinion that I’m justified.
Statistics state a victim of domestic terrorism has the same chances as a victim being struck by lightning. If that’s true then you try to reduce your chances – but when you ARE struck by lightning the fucking odds become irrelevant.

    • Hate to burst your bubble, but police officers are not assigned to private events. They usually are at said events on an off-duty basis. And by the way, if you are found in possession of a concealed firearm at a private venue they will ask you to leave. If you refuse, then the police will be called any they will tell you to leave. If you still refuse, you will be arrested for trespassing. P.S. Nobody will know you are carrying concealed unless you blab, have your weapon print, or are subject to a metal detector. By the way, folks get shot by the police due to their inability to follow directions, not due to signage.

  10. A CBP agent saved the day? I look forward to never hearing about this shooting in the mainstream media again. Positive story about CBP and positive story about defensive gun use, it’s an anti-narrative twofer.

      • “He didn’t do squat to stop the shooting. He shot at him when he was fleeing and missed”

WRONG. The murderer fled when confronted by the wheelgun armed BP agent, as well as the unarmed man who yelled and rushed at the murderer.

  11. Well at least there are some people who are reading the portions of the Bible that actually say you can have weapons on the house of worship property and use them.

Historically many American churches had gun ranges in their basements. And now today concealed carry classes are being conducted inside American churches.

    At least in Free States.

    • @Chris, You are 100% correct, and I did take my LTC course in a church, and it was given by a Game Warden, who is a sworn LEO.

    • Unfortunately, the shooter also read the Bible and used it as a guide to attack the Jews. He cited it multiple times in his manifesto.

      • Sure but that doesn’t mean he understood it. Obviously missed the part about the reconciliation of the Jews and the Gentiles in Acts…

      • “Unfortunately, the shooter also read the Bible and used it as a guide to attack the Jews. He cited it multiple times in his manifesto.”

The murderer was motivated by racism, full stop. He attacked Jews because he believed in anti-Jewish conspiracy theories, namely that the Jewish people, in their entirety was anti-white.

His cherry picked Bible quotes were an excuse to do something he very much already wanted to do.

        • Wow you can type with a dick in your mouth. You are truly amazing. And from your Glory Hole!!!

        • “Wow you can type with a dick in your mouth. You are truly amazing. And from your Glory Hole!!!”

If gun control advocates did not have ad hominems and lies, they would have no arguments at all.

  12. More than 7,500 people in the US alone died, about 47 of them murdered, yesterday. Why is this more tragic and deserving of attention and grief than the others? I mention this because of the people saying things like ‘an entire nation is mourning” or “… reeling”. I rather doubt the nation is phased at all. It is very likely a tragedy to those close to those harmed though, I get that.

    • Don’t be rational, thoughtful, or heavens forfend, analytical .

Unfortunate, tragic for those involved or loved ones. In the scope of things, this is a drop in a (very) tiny bucket.

A sad cautionary tale, reminder to be armed, nothing more important than that in the big picture.

      • You gotta check the “Save my name, email, and website in this browser for the next time I comment.” Box below your comment…

  13. Yesterday I threw a rock at a cat, missed the cat and the rock ricocheted of a car, I thought “Wow that could have been a bullet. I wouldn’t want to start shooting around a large crowd. Since the missed cat ricochet my EDC is now just a large knife and I’m not throwing it. I might kill somebody

    • Even a knife in your hand could ricochet/be deflected and hit an innocent bystander. A garrote would be much safer – organic and non-GMO, of course;-)

      • @vic. Made with un-coated 3/32″ braided aircraft cable and a piece of 1/2″ angle iron you have a non return snare. drop, pull, forget. All available at the local hardware store.

  14. Every sort of house of worship for every religion should have a defense against a mass shooter plan. No less than they should think about what to do in a fire.

There are enough hate filled nutjobs out there that this only makes logical good sense. I know of some where members of a congregation have gotten together and made sure there are always at least three carrying concealed at every service. Only a small group knows who. They practice regularly, some at a police range with the officers who patrol their area.

Just good sense is all it is.

    • enuf,

About half of our population has zero regard for logic/sense and only cares about emotion, fantasy, and “virtue” (as they define it).

All the facts, logic, experience, and sense in the world does not matter to such people if a solution feels icky and violates their sense of “virtue”.

      • then that is a congregation that is putting your life and that of your family at risk. Personally i would leave even if i was a church goer of any stripe (christian, budhist or any other religion). I left the christian churches many years ago because of these sorts of attitudes and also hypocrisy. If any group of people prefer emotion over logic and rational thought and debate and eschew natural rights and duties in favor of “feeling safe” then I would rather walk away and be on my own than surrounded by such fools

  15. Unfortunately the off duty border patrol agent was not carrying his firearm when the attack began. He had to retrieve it from his vehicle. That was located behind the Synagogue. All he was able to do was fire at the escaping gunman striking his truck. He played no roll in stopping the attack. Which occurred when the gunman’s rifle jammed. The gunman later called 911 and turned himself in. As Detective Joe Friday used to say. Just the Fact Ma’m.

    • Unfortunately the off duty border patrol agent was not carrying his firearm when the attack began. He had to retrieve it from his vehicle.

Wrong, wrong. The firearm the BP agent used was not his; the Poway synagogue had in a cabinet.

“All he was able to do was fire at the escaping gunman striking his truck. He played no roll in stopping the attack.”

No, the perp encountered resistance, both from the armed BP agent as well an unarmed Iraq War veteran. That is what caused the coward to flee, all very typical in these situations when a massacre minded person meets resistance, he either gives up, flees, or commits suicide.

  16. A more recent report I saw said that another person in the congregation was armed, knew the off duty agent, and handed his firearm to the unarmed agent thinking that the agent would make better use of it.

As is usual for these stories it will take 72 or so hours for the details to start filling in.

  17. It is consistently proven that a good alert man with a gun can stop a bad man with a gun but that just HORRIFIES the left. Why, because they are stupid or because it doesn’t fit with the narrative of controlling people. Now, take a look at Sri Lanka, NO FRIGGING GUNS!!!! What will the left do when that crap starts here? Raise cane when you want to keep backpacks out of houses of worship? Or place more restrictions on the sale of explosives and piss and moan when that accomplishes nothing?

  18. The gun was given to the Agent by a parishioner who had it in his prayer cloth. He told him he would be more effective.
Tick, tick, tick, … waiting to hear what will happen to the unlicensed carrier.

  19. It’s pretty easy to walk into a place where you think no one is carrying a weapon and start blazing away. When someone point a gun at you I would think any coward would loose their nerve pretty quick, whether the bullet made contact or not. As for “The Bible made me do it.” Give me 2 seconds and I can give you a reason to jab out your eyes and cut off your hands and feet. Matthew 18:8. I think the off duty cop was a hero, congregate or not. I guess he could have shut his garage door and hid in his bathtub.

  20. There is a lot talking on all the gun blogs about you don’t have to clean your guns every time you shoot them.
If you want to be certain your gun works, then you have to clean and lubricate it.
Especially an AR – 15 type

    • That’s what I seen from Iraq and Afghanistan.

Once you heat the gun it can start to go bad. I forget what the recommended rounds fired you shouldn’t exceed in a specified time. You usually just mag dump on contact, you don’t worry about malfunctions.

    • That is why I love my M-1A, Mini-14, and HK-93 for defense.

The Colt AR-15 Delta H Bar which can make the bullet holes overlap at 100 yards is reserved for hunting rodents.

  21. My Hi Point never jams with homemade ammo and rocks for bullets. My Glock 22 snapped 3 extractors within 20 rounds of Hornady’s.

  22. The Jewish rabbis need to learn what the Christian pastors do in their houses of worship. That is keep a handgun displayed resting on the lectern or Podium from which they stand to give their sermons from.

The weapons should be kept in full view for all worshippers to see.

    • Chris T in KY,

Unfortunately, I have so far failed to convince my church’s leadership of the merits of at least a few armed members. And my church’s President even inquired as to our legal options to deny members who work in law enforcement from being armed in church. (My state forbids concealed carry in churches without prior written permission of church leadership — of course off-duty law enforcement officers are exempt and can carry concealed firearms without first asking permission.)

If our church displayed a handgun on the Pastor’s lectern/podium, I think about 90% of the membership would promptly leave the building, and probably never come back.

I really should move to Kentucky.

  23. Another bad ass attacking unarmed people including the elderly, women and children. I hope that coward ends up some dude’s prison bitch.

  24. AR rifles are pieces of shit! Anyone that knows anything about rifles will agree with me.
