Last month, a three-judge panel of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals struck down California’s “large capacity” magazine ban. It was a huge victory for gun rights advocates and a perfect illustration that elections really do have consequences.

As predicted, and like clockwork, California’s Attorney General, Xavier Becerra, filed a motion with the court for an en banc review of the panel’s ruling. That move was made both in the hopes that a review by the full Ninth Circuit will go the other way and to delay for as long as possible the day when standard capacity magazines can once again be sold in the Golden State.

Among the many groups that have filed amicus briefs urging the Ninth to grant an en banc review of the ruling — along with the cities of San Francisco, Oakland, Los Angeles, San Diego and gun control operations like Everytown, Brady and Giffords — were three LGBT groups; Pride Fund to End Gun Violence, Equality California, and Gays Against Guns.

In their brief, the three organizations argue that gun violence “disproportionately affects amici’s members and the communities they serve.” They claim that if the three-judge panel’s ruling is allowed to stand, lifting the ban on standard capacity magazines “would put the LGBT community at elevated risk of injury and death.”

Not every LGBT group agrees. One of which, California-based Armed Equality, filed its own brief in the case asking the court to let the ruling stand so that all armed individuals — regardless of orientation or gender — will have at their disposal all of the tools that are best suited to defend themselves and their families.

What’s more, Armed Equality has a few choice words for the three groups that are working so hard to keep LGBT people disarmed and vulnerable to the attacks they say are so often directed their way. Here’s Armed Equality’s open letter, originally published on their Facebook page and reprinted here with permission:

Dear, Pride Fund to End Gun Violence, Equality California, and Gays Against Guns Los Angeles (yes GAG…),

On behalf of the millions of responsibly well-armed LGBTQ Americans in this country, f**k you.

You don’t speak for us.

You don’t speak for LGBTQ activism.

You don’t speak for LGBTQ activists.

You don’t know what you’re talking about.

Stop trying to criminalize responsibly well-armed LGBTQ Americans in this country. We reject you and your weak, useless, counterproductive, nonsensical arguments.

We are proud to support the California Rifle and Pistol Association, Firearms Policy Coalition, and the Second Amendment Foundation in opposing the ridiculous, unconstitutional, and immoral criminalization of the tools we carry daily to effectively protect our at-risk lives and our at-risk community.

We are proud to have worked with the Firearms Policy Coalition in submitting our own amicus brief in opposition to the criminalization of STANDARD capacity magazines.

Your pathetic and deplorable attempt to use the Pulse Nightclub massacre to push your astroturfed anti-civil rights agenda is as nauseating as it is inaccurate.

We couldn’t help but notice you failing to mention in your brief how law enforcement waited outside for approximately 2+ hours before entering the building. They protected themselves above all else and left us on our own.

We know that it’s up to us to protect ourselves in the initial moments of an active threat.

We know that there are more firearms in the US than there are human beings.

Our daily carry is a radical act of love for our community, for those we love, and for ourselves, because WE KNOW OUR LIVES ARE WORTH DEFENDING WITH FORCE IF NEEDED.

We understand that Armed Equality is REAL equality.

Sincerely,
Armed Equality®
National Pro Self Defense LGBT Civil Rights Group

        • It wouldn’t surprise me in the least if he did.

Strych has an uncanny ability to recall arcane information he’s read or heard years ago…

        • In this particular case I looked it up after I typed it in so that I could verify that I didn’t fuck up the SBN-BGN because I have a habit of reversing the S and the B on the second set of three letters which is common for me when it’s a long-ass string of some idiotic garbage that I almost never use.

I tend to make a similar mistake with the I when using Accusative and Dative cases in the singular 4th declension of Latin nouns… but that’s a whole other story that no one, other than me, cares about.

        • “but that’s a whole other story that no one, other than me, cares about.”

I care about it, but would understand nothing. Gibberish is my first language. English is a challenge.

        • “Gibberish is my first language. English is a challenge.”

LOL there’s a whole lesson here about how xe/xym/xyr is actually super insulting to the T portion of the LGBTQ community because it turns them into non-humans through use of a neuter pronoun which has specific meanings in English… but that’s an advanced lesson in “making Lefty heads explode”.

  1. Any special interest group for a minority, oppressed or otherwise disenfranchised people that advocates for disarmament has to be fake.

    • As a privileged straight white liberal who grew up in the sheltered lap of luxury, as a California lawyer, as a college graduate, and as a Democrat in the House of Representatives, I think I’m in a position to speak as an authority on behalf of women, people of color, and the LGBTQ community. So, trust me when I say: if you so-called “gay gun rights groups” are voting against the Democrat agenda, then you aint gay.

      Eric Swalwell 2020

  2. Well good for them…Pulse was Islamic terrorism. Achmed picked an ez target. One wonder’s if Armed Equality folks will continue to vote Dim?(sorry if I ASSumed too much) Yeah I’d love to hear Pink Pistols weigh in.

    • “One wonder’s if Armed Equality folks will continue to vote Dim?”

Of course they will. They don’t own guns to protect themselves from Dims, Antifa, etc. They own guns to protect themselves from dangerous, unhinged, crazy alt-right, right wing, Trump cult, conservative, radical deplorables. When the deplorables are disarmed, Gay Nation will not need guns for protection from each other, or just common street criminals; government will do that.

      • You’re awfully dense if you consider these LGBTBBQ types of any stripe to be little more than heat of the moment fair weather allies.

They’re just looney toon leftists pretending to care about your rights.

I miss the days when we tossed people like them into a mental institution. America was a better place to grow up and raise a family. No degenerates. No red guard. No BLM.

  3. Gun Control is discrimination. When the day comes Gun Control is seen for what it is is the day Gun Control crawls back under the rock from which it came.

    • Gun control doesn’t discriminate, it targets all people, regardless of Gender, Sexual Orientation, Sexual preference, political affiliation, and well… anything, and everything, it’s all bad, every last one, that’s why as Americans, we should stop yelling at each other from the other side of our fences, and work together to stop all this infringing crap! We NEED to pay attention to everything, and anything that would strip us if our rights, come on sheep people wake the hell up, and smell the infringements!

  4. Good!!! Very Good!!!
    (smile)
Now every LGBTQxyz gun owner, at least the ones who have some guts, You need to open carry at the next pride parade. Or organize an event in an open carry state. Before the next election. You need to “come out of the closet”. The world still thinks that all gun owners are heterosexual white Christians, who have sex in the missionary position, with the lights turned out.
    sarc/off

    • People keep talking about a second civil war. It’s already here and being fought amongst the left. It’s tearing the democratic party apart.

They can’t decide to go full communist or full fascist. Maybe even a side of anarchist.

      • Once the main event is over, or the actual battle lines are drawn, watch the infighting between the various groups and factions. There must be at least 7 factions in ANTIFA alone with Socialists, Anarchists, Environmentalists, Vegans, and the Rainbow coalition to name but a few.

      • Funny how y’all don’t remember the TEA Party battles in the GOP after Obama won. The GOP was desperate to keep them out, but somehow their insane agendas won, and now we have an even more radicalized group of “conservatives” in charge, who basically only care about control and self-enrichment. They don’t give a damn about taxes, and they don’t give a damn about voters.

    • “The antics of the Left has forced me to hate anybody who doesn’t think like me.”

What took you so long? Been treating everyone like they is Texas Aggies since I knew what an Aggie was. You should see how they proudly display a windshield sticker touting their possession of an ATM card.

    • Whether they suck each other off or not, what part of “We understand that Armed Equality is REAL equality” do you not agree with?

    • “Mmmmmm… delicious infighting.”

Not really, have you noticed how the burning and looting has mostly stopped since they realized the public polling was running strongly against them?

  5. Well… no duh!! For the most part the ‘LGBT movement’ is used for left-wing activism father than ensuing the civil rights of LGBT people. Hell, it’s no uncommon to see the rest of the organized movement turn on an popular LGBT person when they step out of line. Case in point this one transgender woman over on YouTube that I watch by the name of Blare White. She gets viciously attacked constantly by other LGBT activist for not toeing the proverbial line on various political and social issues. It’s gone so far as her being physically assaulted in public for wearing a Trump hat.

    • So was Milo attacked as well. And both are supported by conservative christian voters. The Christians and Jews at Breitbart paid for the Milo Bus tour. And Christians prayed with him after the Pulse night club murders. But youtube took that video down.

      • That is true. To me that’s the most toxic part of the LGBT community and why I refuse to participate in it’s activism. You only count as long as your politics agree with the rest of the activist.

    • “Hell, it’s no uncommon to see the rest of the organized movement turn on an popular LGBT person when they step out of line.”

This is true of any minority type group the Left recruits. All of these groups are nothing more than get out the vote orgs for democrats. Any person that dares to step out of line gets treated worse than the dreaded white straight male (that votes democrat). Notice how they mock Milania’s accent. I thought they loved immigrants? Imagine for second if she was a democrat First Lady. They would adore her! How do they treat Candice Owens? Clarence Thomas? Owens and Thomas are both former democrats. The Left despises these people and treats them like dirt.

  6. Hey, gay people, stop voting for the b@stards who are happy to watch you die just so they can make some kind of demented point. Wise up.

    • You’ll need to be a bit more specific, both parties are more than happy to let their policies kill people, especially minorities.

  7. There’s not one damn thing a weapon magazine has to do with LGBTQ on either side of the argument. It’s just a magazine and there’s nothing special about them.

  8. Sorry. No sympathy for them regardless of gun ownership or not. Tired of being told how to think, how to act, how to speak about evolutionary dead-ends.

    • Oh, be nice. I’m straight as a string, and an evolutionary dead end, one granddaughter who’s in no hurry, no more on the way ever. World’s overpopulated, so who actually cares?

    • “The mentally ill should not possess firearms.”

Why? Because it is “just common sense”?

      Sound familiar?

We like our own “common sense” infringements, but not those of others, because our “common sense” is real “common sense”? Every infringement is an opinion either having, or hoping to have, the power to back it up.

The only “real” common sense is that which understands “Congress shall make no Law”, and “Shall Not Be Infringed” are clear, pricise, limiting words. The only common sense remaining is to accept the language as written, and find another way to cope with life.

    • “2nd Amendment had already guaranteed the protection of right to keep and bear arms.”

Subject to the level of scrutiny applied by the Supreme Court.
