Wait. FedEx has a discount for NRA members? Who knew? A call to FedEx’s 800 number connected me to an agent who’d never heard of such a thing. From there I went over to the NRA’s extremely long list of NRA member discounts with national companies — which doesn’t include FedEx. The NRA’s customer service rep couldn’t find any commercial arrangement between the NRA and FedEx. And yet . . .

There it is! If you, an NRA member, sign up for the NRA Business Edition Visa Cardyou can get big savings on shipping using FedEx with your NRA membership! Just enroll in the FedEx Advantage® program using passcode FVMK8W13. If that doesn’t work, just call 1800-475-6708 for more information. Anyway . . .

According to the bloomberg.com story cited in Ms. Hyland’s Tweet, an association of antis is “launching an online campaign and plans protests on Wednesday at FedEx retail stores in Denver; Atlanta; Memphis, Tennessee; and Orlando, Florida.”

Bloomberg boasts that the FedEx protesters come from ten “gun safety” groups: Guns Down (“My freedom doesn’t need a gun”), Color of Change (“the nation’s largest online racial justice organization”), the Newtown Action Alliance and Pride Fund to End Gun Violence (“leading the way toward positive cultural change”) and Gays Against Guns (“breaking the gun industry’s chain of death”).

Wait. That’s only four. And the list doesn’t include the two of the largest (discounting the astroturf aspect) civilian disarmament crusading orgs: Everytown for Gun Safety and Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. Both of which depend entirely on the largesse of bloomberg.org’s owner, Michael Bloomberg, for their existence and influence. Something to do with FedEx advertising perhaps?

    • By the way, the NRA should call itself “The nation’s largest racial justice organization,” as it works tirelessly to block and remove racist gun control laws that disproportionately affect vulnerable, low-income people of color by disarming them and leaving them defenseless against violent criminals.

      • Curtis in { THE PEOPLES REPUBLIC OF ILLINOIS } I guess your parents sure didn’t raise a 1/2 intelligent guy , because if you would have done your research, [ other than i’m sure voted for Killery ], the NRA is the oldest CIVIL RIGHTS ORGANIZATION in the USA. Saying that do your research before you shoot your big mouth off w/ libertard BS.

      • Yeah, the only blocks available on the NRA membership form are White, Male, Red Neck, Deplorable, Christian, Asshole. NOT. As I remember it, the NRA doesn’t ask any of those questions our Government seems so interested in.

        • Button,

I’m sorry my sarcasm flew over your head like a squadron of F16s after the National Anthem at the Superbowl. You see, two of the typical leftist professional victims’ groups in Bloomberg’s little stunt here are a group called “gays against guns” and another called “Color of Change,” a self-described racial justice organization. They love to demonize the NRA because they think the organization is a bunch of white, racist, redneck homophobes. They’ll never admit that the NRA is much more diverse than they realize, and the NRA’s spokespeople include the openly homosexual Chris Cheng, and the openly African-American Colion Noir.

          Hence the sarcastic, rhetorical question.

  1. Sounds like this has nothing to do with the NRA. Just a gimmick to make members think they are getting a benefit, when really the same offer can be found available to anyone. Kind of like my employee discounts offered by various companies. Sometimes I get better rates on things like car rentals by not using my employee discount.

    • Employee discounts can be hit or miss. Sometimes a company gets an annual rebate based on its own purchases of a product/service. If they can convince employees to purchase those products/services through the company’s discount program, then that sales volume gets credited to the company and that helps drive the company’s annual rebate amount. Whether those purchases are a true discount to the employee, versus what they could get on their own, can be entirely irrelevant.

Then again, sometimes the company discount is genuinely valuable versus open market promotions. Where I’ve seen the greatest discounts are in cell phone service. My own is currently a 22% discount off of AT&T’s best advertised rates. I’ve had 15% off of Sprint’s before, too, with a previous employer. These things are called “affinity discounts” and you can get them through your alma mater, too.

Really, if you’re a member of any kind of group with national presence, like a fraternity, honor society, interest/advocacy group, professional society, etc., always check to see what affinity discounts are available. Some of the best are firearms and accessories discounts for being an NRA Certified Instructor.

  2. Correction to the article – you don’thave to sign up for the credit card. You sign up for the NRA Business Alliance ($40/year). Once you’re a member of the NRABA, then you have the option of signing up for the credit card, or the FedEx discounts, LifeLock, or other benefits as listed at http://www.nraba.org/benefits.aspx.

If you have a business or ship a lot at FedEx, it might be worth signing up for; the FedEx site says something about a 26% discount, so if you spend enough at FedEx for that discount to make up the $40/year for the NRABA, then that alone might be a good deal. Plus it’d stick it to the anti’s boycott too.

  3. Technically the discount is offered by Visa and not FedEx. Several branded cards offer similar discounts and is part of the “packaging” of the cards to get companies to sign on to the branded programs.

That isn’t going to stop the Anti-rights crowd from having their little tantrum.

    • “Technically the discount is offered by Visa and not FedEx”

I don’t think you’re right on that. The credit card offer says nothing about a FedEx discount.

The discount is for members of the NRA Business Alliance (which is not the same thing as being a regular NRA member). FedEx specifically offers discounts to businesses who are members of the NRA BA.

  4. “and plans protests on Wednesday at FedEx retail stores in Denver; Atlanta; Memphis, Tennessee; and Orlando, Florida”

Oh, and if you happen to live in Denver, Atlanta, Memphis or Orlando, why not gather as many of your friends as you can get and go attend a little counter-protest? Get 10x as many “supporters” out there as “protesters”. Take some photos.

    • Because we’re all working, unlike the entitlement class. I’m in Denver. If I wasn’t working, I would have for grins, and if it was outside Denver limits I’d open carry a non-threatening little S&W Mod 10, for show. IWB 9mm for dough…

  5. “Just enroll in the FedEx Advantage® program using passcode FVMK8W13.”

Well, that’d be a way to show support for FedEx, wouldn’t it? So FYI, I just tried to join the FedEx Advantage program using that passcode. It doesn’t work. Says it’s invalid.

  6. News Flash

    FedEx offers discounts to Businesses.

In other news; Water is still wet at room temperature.

And finally to round out this news cycle; anti-gunners are still idiots.

  7. Those Idiots, the it’s the National Realtors Association (NAR) that gets the discounts, not the NRA!

“FedEx, a proud participant in NAR’s REALTOR Benefits® Program, is pleased to offer REALTORS® a variety of special discounts on FedEx® shipping solutions and FedEx Office® products and services. Enrollment is free, and there are no minimum requirements.”

    https://www.nar.realtor/programs/realtor-benefits-program/office-supplies-services/fedex

  8. Hmm, wonder if the boss knows he could get a company discount?

Also, not exactly a good time of year to protest, especially Denver. Slightly chilly.

  9. Tried one of their credit cards a few years back. Card terms were awful. Closed the account 2 months later. 10 days to pay, 24% interest. Rotten customer service. BEWARE!

    • Typical of “Affinity” Credit cards

The app site takes great pains to NOT feature the issuer or terms. Little tiny 6pt font way down at the bottom.

  10. Wonder how these precious snowflakes will react when they find out that millions of guns are shipped via FedEx every year, too?
