Where is the “right” to an education mentioned in the United States Constitution? By the same token, under what authority did Uncle Sam establish a Department of Education?
Don’t get me wrong: I believe all children should get an education. A good education. Something the United States public education system seems uniquely and increasingly unable to provide for the vast majority of its students.
Would taxpayer-funded school vouchers for a privatized school system solve that problem? Would it create students who could think for themselves? Students who can think?
Depends on whom you ask.
If you ask anyone currently sucking on the local, federal and state taxpayer tit — teachers, administrators, lunch ladies, bus drivers, school supplies providers, etc — obviously not.
If you ask anyone who understands the free market system, sure, why not?
The National School Walkout and the forthcoming national pro-gun control (anti-civil rights) rally in Washington highlight the failure of our public education system to create . . . wait for it . . . great Americans.
It’s creating socialists for socialists. Like Bernie Sanders, who spoke to thunderous applause at a student pro-gun control rally, surrounded by armed bodyguards.
I’m done. I’ve pulled my daughter from public school and put her into an expensive private school. So much for buying a sports car.
Oh and after walking through LA, she turned to me and said, “When I get older and live in a city I want to carry a gun.” A+ baby. A+.

Well sirs, I do believe the phrase Molon Labe originally referred to swords, not guns. So given that the mascot appears to be a Spartian, well then the sweatshirt actually makes sense. The logo does include a reference to 480 BC.
Molon Labe as it is now etched onto mag wells and printed on bumper stickers has actually just hijacked, well, I mean culturally appropriated the phrase. Me, I stick with the real Come and Take It from the days of the Alamo.
But I do applaud the effort here to boil the blood of the equally uninformed.

Its all relative to time and subject. At that time, swords were equivalent to an ar15.
Just like when the second ammendment was written it used the word “Arms”.

Good for you pulling your daughter from public school. My daughter will be 17 this month and has never seen the inside of a government school. We have home schooled her from the get go. According to all of our adult friends, she is the most mature and pleasant kid they have met. And while we are on the subject of where the feds get the right to…Where do the feds get the right to enforce wildlife laws? Don’t see a thing about it in the Constitution. I’m referring to the Wolf problem in several states. They’re decimating the wildlife in several states like Wyoming. The states want to take control of the Wolf management. Where in the hell to the feds get the right to say yes or no. This should also be a 10th Amendment issue along with the education of our kids.

The term does not reference any specific weapon. It translates more or less to “come and take ’em”; this supposedly a reply by Leonidas to the Persians when they ordered the Spartans to disarm.
In essence, the meme is not hijacked at all, being that all people have the right to protect themselves with whatever tools they deem proper for their defense, and that to disarm at the behest of an agressor should be abhorrent.
Under such conditions disarmament is to place oneself at the mercy of agression at the very least, if not certain death. As used in popular culture the term still applies as siginifying that a person is willing to defend themselves even against overwhelming odds.
Therefore, molon labe is a declaration that a person is unwilling to be deprived of the option of defiance of any agression, up to and including lethal force if necessary.
Haha the irony of an anti personal defense advocate wearing that hoodie at a rally where everyone there really do not want the means to defend themselves….

The government school system operates very much like a drug cartel. Protects it’s turf, often with guns aimed at non-conforming parents, kills off all competition and charges protection money. Actually, its worse than a cartel – the protection money must be paid, regardless whether you take the government drug or not. Or else…
The right answer is HOME SCHOOL. Their teacher is armed, and the worst retaliation they have to worry about from another student is thier brother or sister bothering them while they try to finish thier work.

Brains full of mush…my sons who live with me are both extremely courteous and well behaved. Both went to public school. And both got rewards for good behavior. It was unusual. Parents are 90% of the the equation. I’m happy my grandkids are homeschooled BUT I suspect they’d be OK at a regular school. Parents are the key…oh RF good on you. Your kid is more important than a car. Fix reply!

The term “Molon Labe” doesn’t just apply to swords. It is the concept and the ideology. The ideology is the divine right that individuals have to protect themselves, their families, their communities, their sovereign nations etc.
I remember President R. Stating he wanted to do away with the Dept. Of Education long ago. The teahers unions are powerful.

The problem is, not all kids are smart enough to receive a “good” education. Some are dumb as hell, and destined to just be parking garage attendants.
Even worse, more of them are destined to be whoever and/or whatever they’re told.
Useful idiot, mob meat, & cannon fodder are the most accessible, equal opportunity roles available to kids today.
And considering that “victim” is an additional prized identifier, and is increasingly self-awarded for anything that ouches teh teeniest feelz?

My school was expensive back in the day but I just checked St. Stephen’s and the tuition is little over twice which my school’s was. Don’t know if that’s where your daughter is going but that appears to be the going rate for high quality private schools nowadays. Sadly, even “good” public schools are now so politicized and ruined by “outcomes” education models that the kinds of effective teaching and learning environments we’d recognize have disappeared. Not only good students, but good teachers are being driven away. Don’t feel too bad about not getting a car. There are still surprisingly good deals appearing on BringATrailer. You made the best choice.

There’s no doubt these Liberal Terrorists™️ almost universally display an autistic level of mental abilities, that’s not to say that they all function at the mentally incapacitated level. Just watched Jimi Fallon do a survey on NYC vs LA better smarter. It was terrible. I didn’t know the younger ,9-14 were that ignorant. When ask to name the planets in the solar system the child was immediately confused by the word “solar” then he and his sister named off amusement rides? If this is the future the future is gone. These children could be so easily molded, Hitler would love this. What do the science teachers teach? 9 years old and couldn’t name one planet. If the parentare any indication of their children. @ John in CO – regardless of what the outcomes of education and upbringing, all children likely have more potential than is exercised. Public (and even most private schools) don’t “teach a student” they dump a little ‘instruction’ and ‘information’ on them and hold up a yardstick and say ‘compared to the class, your child only absorbed this much of the method that we chose to use’. That’s got nothing to do with intelligence, that’s just the education system saying ‘whatever, we did the best we could’ and the vast majority of those kids go on to very productive and inductive lives despite that.

Concerning planets, this morning I asked each of my two younger granddaughters (ages 8 and 11) how many planets in the solar system they could name, and each one named all of them; each one was aware of the controversy over Pluto’s status as a planet or dwarf planet.

I walked out of class all the time- not for any type of BS “cause.” I just went to the library. Censorship has become more popular since then. Knowledge and ideas are still more dangerous than weapons of war. I intend to wield them all effectively.

Some really good Lutheran and Catholic private schools are not always quite so expensive. It pays to shop around. Some states have school voucher programs.

Holy crap, I went to a catholic grade school. You couldn’t get away with anything. Those Nuns had eyes in the back of their heads! After catholic school, years later, basic training in the Army was easy. I kept thinking, those Nuns could teach those Drill Instructors a few things about discipline!
Luckily I was too sick most of my childhood to go to class, so I read library books instead. I was about two years ahead of the class program most of the time. I scored in the top two or three of the student body during my education. Sometimes I even learned a bit from teachers, but they always checked with me that what they had written on the blackboard was in fact correct.
Does the honor student pictured above seem capable of declining a Greek verb, or interpreting its historical significance? She looks to be parsing the epigram inked on her placard, searching for the meaning of the phrase. Yes, she is very persuasive, not!
Great choice RF, my parents pulled my sister and I out of public school after I got sent to the principal’s office for “disrupting class”, by that he meant I kept pointing out mistakes in the history book like “Saturday, December 7th”. My future children will never step one foot into a public school system classroom.
