Why are civilian disarmament advocates so violent? . . . Gun control advocate pleads guilty to assaulting gun rights activist during election recount

The charge stems from an incident that took place last November, during a state Senate race recount at the state archives building on South Fruit Street.

Susan Olsen, a prominent gun-rights activist, was volunteering as a Republican observer to watch the recount between incumbent Democrat Andrew Hosmer and Republican Harold French. Olsen claimed that when she asked counters to move ballots closer so she could better see them, (New Hampshire State Rep. Katherine) Rogers, who was volunteering as a Democratic observer, smacked her upside the head.

After pleading guilty, Rogers had a $1000 fine suspended (for “good behavior” no less), but will have to attend an anger management class to learn how to behave in a civil manner around those with whom she disagrees politically.

Rogers’ attorney, William Christie, said Friday his client, who has often sponsored gun-control legislation, had merely “touched” Olsen, but accepted responsibility.

Rogers — who was named…wait for it…New Hampshire’s Humane Legislator of the Year in 2017 — apparently doesn’t think law abiding citizens of New Hampshire should be trusted with the responsibility for keeping and bearing arms. Can you say…projection?

    • Well, me no lawyer, but unless plaintiff can demonstrate some sort of harm, or “severe emotional distress” (unlikely), then there really isn’t anything to sue for.

I would rather have seen the two women do the honorable thing – Take it outside and scratch each other until somebody cries “uncle.”

    • I’m certainly not trained in the inner workings of the human mind, but my experiences and observations say something like this:
Some people, deep down, recognize that they have problems controlling their behavior. More precisely, the control over their behavior that they are able to muster.
And their thinking then goes like this: “If I can’t control my behavior correctly, what chance does anyone else have?”
Which is why so many hoplophobes are convinced gun owners are all violent felons-in-waiting.

  1. I’m the one she assaulted….one unimpeachable witness came forward voluntarily and that’s likely why this wasn’t swept under the rug. She’s a big time local Dem, a former county attorney and a former police prosecutor; her attorney also happens to be the lawyer for the NH Democrat Party and law partner of NH Senator Shaheen’s husband………

    • “I’m the one she assaulted….”

This is *why* I believe interactions with the other side during political functions should be video recorded.

It doesn’t surprise me in the least this happened, Ms. Olson, I am convinced if there is a physical assault, the political left is far more likely than not be behind it.

The vast majority of recent mass murderers have an on-line presence that leans hard to the left…

    • Ms. Olsen,

I am sorry that you were the victim of an assault.

I know it is hard to react after someone sucker punches you. If you ever experience a future attack, I recommend immediately striking back hard and fast. That will make them think twice before ever pulling something like that in the future.

      • Pick your battles and use your brain. Sometimes you can do more damage doing nothing. Always assume those people will turn it around to make you look like the badguy. +1 for recording these animals in the wild at all times. Let them lie, then slap them back with the truth. Remember how they tried to turn “burning can of hairspray” guy in to a victim?

    • That would be an excellent result.

Nice to see you here Susan and glad you weren’t mauled by your opponent.

If you were at all involved in my now being able to leave Maine and work in NH sometimes while still armed I thank you profusely. Lets get National Reciprocity next.

  2. This offense calls for more than mere anger management training and a fine (suspended at that). She deserves to be discharged from her elected office and to sit in county jail for at least 30 days.

This slap–more like tap–on the wrist will only embolden her to abuse the public further, probably within her official capacity somehow so as to avoid personal accountability.

A more petulant observer might even suggest that she’s due for a house to fall on her, but I couldn’t possibly comment on that.

    • “A more petulant observer might even suggest that she’s due for a house to fall on her, but I couldn’t possibly comment on that.”

      Thank you, that was perfect.

  3. Liberals are outa control because no one gets punched in the mouth anymore. You’d be surprised how quick a punch in the mouth makes folks “fall in.” At a base level the only thing people really understand and respect is violence. Once they learn that their actions have a real consequence the behavior changes. Just like dogs… Sad but true…

    • Possibly true. But I can only imagine the nasty infection you might get if you punched that hag in the kisser without wearing gloves.

      • That’s not a joke. I got a nasty infection in my hand from a tooth after belting some guy in mouth.
        It was worth it though.

        • Me too. When I was 17 I cut my knuckle on my attacker’s teeth and got ugly infection. Doctor had to cut my hand open and scrape out the necrotic tissue. Then I couldn’t bend my middle finger for weeks as the tendon got “welded” stuck. It was not worth it. I should have used the heavy glass ashtray instead of my fist.

  4. Typical crazy left wing loon. She obviously wants guns restricted so it’s easier to assault people. The Democratic Party is the Big Crime party, period. The party that’s by criminals, for criminals.

  5. She is just the tip of a YYYYUUUUUUGE iceberg. Funny how it works that way, the strongest most militant gun control advocates tend to have serious ethical and legal issues of their own. Just a few examples. Chalres Rangell. Never mind his tax evasion issues, that POS should’ve been arrested back in 1972 for obstruction of justice, if not aiding and abetting in the murder of NYPD Officer Phillip Carrillo. Fmr NY Assy Speaker Sheldon Silver on trial for corruption. Fmr Cong Jesse Jackson Jr who did time for embezzlement. Fmr Cong Corrine Brown who got convicted on similar charges. This one’s a doozy fmr Cong Leeland Yee, he introduced anti gun legislation that would’ve effectively nullified the 2A. He’s in Federal prison doing time for, wait for eeet…..GUN RUNNING! Remember Bernie Ward, he was that hoplophobic left wing talk radio sensation who was gonna put Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity in their place. Where is he now? Spending the rest of his miserable life as a registered sex offender after doing time for kiddie porn. And speaking of pervs, how about Seattle Mayor Ed Murray, charter member of Bloominga**holeberg’s Every Town for Gun Sense and friend of Shannon Watts aka Gun Control Barbie from Mom’s Demand Action (sounds like a granny porn site, doesn’t it?) He’s under investigation for diddling his 8 yr old cousin. And it’s the same as ever was. One of the first gun control laws, the Sullivan Laws of 1911. What the gun grabbers don’t tell you is who those laws are named for. Big Tim Sullivan, a Tammany Hall kingpin even more corrupt than the Clinton’s. He wanted to make the streets of NYC safer, for him and his cronies and the muggers and gangsters in his back pocket. Around 1990 the gun violence death clock was put up near Times Square. It was funded by Robert Brennan, a junk bond dealing scam artist who makes Bernie Madoff look like Mother Theresa. He had just gotten out of the joint for stock fraud and other such niceties. I’m sure he had a pragmatic reason for performing this public service. Hey, if I scammed all those old folks out of their life savings I too would be scared sh!tless if they, their kids or grandkids had easy access to firearms. Just sayin’

  6. what a skank!
should move to AUssie with all t’other gun-grabbers….
speaking of which…..any AUssies reading this should avoid “commenting” on a ‘blog called “firearmownersunited(dot)com”…. the admin’ of that ‘blog may well be some sort of under-cover COPPER!

  7. Does the New Hampshire state legislature have an ethics committee. Certainly, assault would be grounds for some punishment. Or is the state ruled by Democrat Party operatives who only go after political opponents.

  8. Why would you wait six months to report such an assault though? I was with you until I read that pesky detail. It gives the anti an easy way to claim this was solely political.

Assault me and I’ll be giving a statement to the police ASAP, not next summer.

    • The Speaker of the House was informed almost immediately. I made the choice to delay because to do so otherwise would have PROVED it to be political.

      • Well, sadly, we all know the game by now.

First, always record when you deal with these yahoos. The one time you don’t is the one time they’ll do something crazy and blame you.

Second, as soon as it starts keep a complete, contemporaneous record of everything you do, because that one partial factoid will absolutely be used to try to discredit you. If you merely respond afterwards, you still look guilty, and give the smear another news cycle.

Not kidding. You pull out your phone and film the scene while the ambulance is coming; selfi-interview yourself before they clean up your wounds, etc.

  9. anti-2A folks are control freaks.

“the urge to save humanity is always and everywhere a false face for the urge to rule it”

  10. It makes sense that she is a rabid anti gun hobbit. Makes it safer for her to shuffle around looking for unsuspecting victims!

  11. If the accused had been a gun owner, they would have been looking at jail time and the loss of their civil liberties for the rest of their life. The politically-connected liberal? They’ll dance their way out of the courtroom as they plan their next “responsible gun law” bill. And these are the elected “representatives” of the public?

The political divide in this nation has long passed the point of possible return. There is no longer any compromise or reconciliation–only one side against the other, and neither are willing to try anymore. But to be fair, it’s not like the anti-gun crowd wanted to do any of these things to start with. So I guess it was only a matter of time before the side of freedom and liberty gave up trying to reach out and started doubling down on its own values. Now it’s just a waiting game. Who blinks–or relaxes their guard–first? If we falter, even for a moment, we will lose forever.

“The price of freedom is eternal vigilance”.
