I don’t get it. Does it really matter whether a criminal is holding a real gun or an Airsoft replica? I reckon the revelation that criminals have put orange tips on real guns to fuck with the po-po’s minds—a “fact” for which I’d like to see proof—eliminates the cops’ need to make any distinction between real and fake firearms. “Drop your weapon!” pretty much covers it. So the Fort Wayne police shot a perp wielding a Springfield XD look-alike who refused to down tools. So . . . what? So the police and the media are running around like their hair’s on fire. In Arizona, Vancouver, Wilmington (MA) and around the country, the media meme is the same: replicas are wrong. Question: wouldn’t cops prefer to face a replica than the real thing? If so, quit your bitching.

Airsoft replicas are perfectly safe as long as stupid people don’t do stupid things with them.
“Stupid is as Stupid does”, that said, ANYONE brandishing ANY weapon at a cop deserves to get tasered at the least and shot at the best. Unless that cop has illegally invaded your home without a warrant (uncovered by law), you DROP any weapons you have right then or you get shot. I don’t care if you only have a steak knife and just finished dinner.
Airsoft guns are still toys and should be treated as such. Stop demonizing toys.
I won’t be dropping any weapons ESPECIALLY in my own home and I don’t give a damn if they’re there legally or illegally. They come through my front door they’ll meet a withering spray of armor piercing bullets from my battle rifles.

You don’t have to point an airsoft or a real gun at some cops in order to get shot. Point a comb or a “water nozzle” or your finger and you will get shot. Even if you don’t do anything, you might get sodomized with the handle of a toilet plunger. Sometimes it seems like the only difference between some cops and most crooks is the uniform.
Drop your weapon? Sometimes, when one is attempting to do just that, the cops will shoot you dead. Just ask the family of Erik Scott in Las Vegas. When cops believe that the mere possession of a firearm by a citizen gives them license to kill, we are living in a police state.
