After Maryland shooting, Pelosi draws criticism for gun control comment

When you have a shooting in one of the most heavily gun-controlled states in the nation, the obvious solution is more federal legislation . . .

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) on Thursday denounced Congress’ lack of effort to pass legislation on gun safety after a shooting that left five people dead at a Maryland newspaper.

“Praying for everyone injured & the families of those lost in today’s shooting at the Capital Gazette in Annapolis, Maryland. Congress has a responsibility to take action to prevent the tragedy of gun violence. Every day it fails to do so is a stain on our country,” Pelosi tweeted.

2 Reasons Why the Media Will Drop Coverage of the Capital Gazette Shooting

You probably can figure them out without even reading the article . . .

On Thursday, four journalists and one staff member of the Capital Gazette were murdered in the newspaper’s Annapolis, Maryland, office.

While the event was initially widely covered by all major news outlets, the media is likely to quickly move on from the story, just like it did with the Santa Fe High School shooting, because it doesn’t fit the right narrative. (Unlike many of the Parkland students, the Santa Fe students didn’t respond to the tragedy by calling for gun control measures.)

That in itself is a shame, not just because there is much to learn from this tragedy, but also because the inspiring courage of the surviving journalists deserves more than a single news cycle.

UN United Nations Gun Control Small Arms

The Ten Dumbest Things I Heard About Guns At The United Nations

How did he narrow it down to only 10? . . .

For the past two weeks, I’ve been attending the Third U.N. Conference to Review Progress Made in the Implementation of the Programme of Action to Prevent, Combat and Eradicate the Illicit Trade in Small Arms and Light Weapons in All Its Aspects — mercifully abbreviated as RevCon 3 for the PoA.

In theory, the purpose of the PoA — which is a political instrument, not a treaty — is to encourage cooperation on the illicit international trade in small arms. If the PoA stuck to this, it might be modestly useful. It can only be modestly useful because far too many nations at the U.N. don’t right now have the ability, or the desire, to do the basic things they have repeatedly committed to do.

Unfortunately, the PoA doesn’t stick to the illicit international trade in small arms. And in the process of not allowing it to stick to its job, its supporters say a lot of stupid things. And yes, they do like to talk about gun control.

Oregon Assault Weapons Ban

Oregon Supreme Court Kills Assault Weapon Ban After Ordering Revisions to Deceptive Language

Oh. Darn. . . .

On Wednesday, Oregon’s Supreme Court refused to approve Initiative Petition 43 – a state ballot proposal for an assault weapon and high-capacity magazine ban – due to the initiative’s repeated use of vague and misleading language and outright false claims to describe the proposed law to voters. Furthermore, the court directed Oregon’s attorney general to revise the language of the initiative to comply with state laws requiring Oregonians to be accurately informed about the law’s key provisions at the ballot box.

However, even if the necessary revisions were made to the gun control initiative’s language, supporters of the measure would need to collect 88,184 signatures by July 6thto get it on this year’s ballot. Furthermore, the collection of those signatures could not legally start until Attorney General Ellen Rosenblum made the revisions to the ballot language required by the court. Given these legal roadblocks, multiple local news sources were not optimistic about the initiative’s chances for success.

Texas educators training to shoot back at school shooters

We need more of this in every state in the union . . .

Educators in Texas are getting firearms training to retaliate against potential school shooters.

A group of teachers and principals from around Texas enrolled this week in the state’s school marshals program to learn how to react and save lives if an attack happens.

After recent school shootings in Florida and near Houston, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott is encouraged that there’s now more participation in the program that started four years ago.

  1. 1-Nancy: Is that her gun grabbing stance, or is she saying ‘look at me, I’m an eagle’?

3-RevCon, is that short for Reversing the US Constitution?

4-Oregon’s AG violated the law, and in the process invalidated the referendums she wanted to shove through. Sucks to be her I guess.

    • Journalist killing journalist not surprised. It’s a Cutthroat business. without an ounce of integrity.Just read the new york post or daily news. One can hope that they’ll be another copycat. Open season on the DNC’s propaganda machine. I don’t wish ill will on the media but they are part of the plan to make us a socialist country. When are they going to start telling the the truth.

      • “One can hope that they’ll[sic] be another copycat.”
“I don’t wish ill will on the media…”

Those two quotes, both from the same paragraph in your post, are mutually exclusive.
That means they can’t both be true.

    • “1-Nancy: Is that her gun grabbing stance, or is she saying ‘look at me, I’m an eagle’?“

She is showing her fav grip for giving a handy… she calls it the “San Fran Sling.”

      • Looks to me like this photo was taken mere seconds before the Cryptkeeper clawlike hand removed an unfortunate trespasser’s testicles.

  2. If the dems want to stay in business they’re going to have to stifle the gun control mantra. They are giving the nation to trump and the gop.

Constitutional carry is on the horizon and a lot of that credit goes to the absolute stupidity of the left.

    • Fanatics … Can’t change their minds and won’t change the subject. And, just like Donkey from Shrek (now how appropriate is that?) they have the right to remain silent; what they lack is the ability.

And not just about guns … the whole shebang is turning formerly moderate Americans to conservatives by the Dems moving the center out from under them.

I just don’t get how they can be so outraged, about so many things. All. The. Time. It must be exhausting.

    • Con carry on the horizon? Um, not in my lifetime. Hell, we can’t even get national reciprocity for CCW through Congress. Do you really think they are going to stuff the GFSZA in the dustbin of history? Not that they shouldn’t mind you, but just that they won’t. Even if one smart trial court judge said that the 1000′ limit is constitutionally infirm, no one in the 1st, 2d, 3d, 4th or 9th Circuit Courts of Appeals is going to be joining that bandwagon anytime soon, dominated as they are by liberal anti-gun justices.

      • You plannin’ on dyin’ in the next 5 years?

IF we get another Gorsuch on the bench AND the SCOTUS rules for strict scrutiny for the 2nd Amendment, the right will be secured for at least a generation. The Lefty governments will try but fail with their infringements.

With Kennedy’s retirement, victory is in sight (maybe). We’ll have to see who Trump nominates.

    • Even if this November goes well for us, there’s no way we’re getting constitutional carry nationwide. They had two years to pass all kinds of pro gun bills and failed every single time. I doubt we’ll see much movement on anything at the federal level, at all. SCOTUS on the other hand, we may be about to score some victories there.

      • One decision from a trump loaded scotus and we have Con Carry.

Remember Illinois? The entrenched dems/crims attempted to work around the scotus decision. Scotus put them on a clock with con carry as the punishment if they didn’t change their system.

Now imagine a trump loaded scotus.

  3. Remember turn your head and cough?
She has the new democrat politicians line up and do that and she turns them into Ken dolls.
Can’t have any balls if you serve under her.

  4. I heard from some news sources the journalists at the Capitol Gazette were trying to see how far they could goad the attacker without him over reacting. Obviously not as much as they thought.

  5. IS there a problem with illicit international trade in small arms or is this just a useful fiction for intl progs to extract and vast income from the US taxpayer (see also manmade global warming nonsense).

I certainly have not yet rcvd any packages from overseas containing nifty ballistic goods. I don’t want any chicom crap but would entertain offers to evaluate such goods from Israel. Please.

    • This: “…is this just a useful fiction for intl progs to extract and vast income from the US taxpayer…”.

I doubt the the illicit gun trade is as big as the UN cries about. Its purely the lead-in for world wide disarmament of regular folks.

Politicians are classic narcissists. Narcissists want control of everything around them. I encourage everyone to read a comprehensive psychological explanation of Narcissistic Personality Disorder.
Here’s a link to a brief explanation of the disorder. If you understand NPD you can understand the Pelosi’s of the world and predict their next stupid thing.

      https://www.theravive.com/therapedia/narcissistic-personality-disorder-dsm–5-301.81-(f60.81)

      • ^J, M &J !!!
That link kinda hits it on the head, eh?

Funny thing though, (with my small medical background from staying at a Holiday Inn Express) the info on that site that pertains to TX (treatment) reads as tho the blind are leading the blind.
Most psych therapists I’ve met fall into that very category. And every one of them espoused DNC ideals during social intercourse.

  6. “Every day it fails to do so is a stain on our country,” Pelosi tweeted.

Poor Nancy’s Aricept dosage needs to be increased.

  7. Progressives.

You know them, they’re the kind, considerate, tolerant folks while we are the despicable ‘racists’.

    Right? RIGHT?

Well, not so much. Watch how tolerant, inclusive and accepting of others they really are :

  8. The “illicit gun trade” is alive and well in countries that have civil war and the firearms people need to protect themselves with are illegal. These people have 2 choices, join the rebels and do as they say(while being issued a rifle to protect themselves(and enslave others) or they can break the law and buy a gun that may save their own and their family’s lives.
    What a conundrum!

  9. I recommend that you follow the link to the article titled. “2 Reasons Why the Media Will Drop Coverage of the Capital Gazette Shooting”; The Author, Amy Swearer, is VERY good at what she does, and this is not the only pro-2nd Amendment article she has written.

She’s impressive. The additional articles can be found on ‘The Daily Signal.’

  10. The guy missed point 3 which is that media coverage serves as advertising to crazy people. I’ve seen stuff on how the shooter was downplayed while the victims were the people receving media coverage by a lot of sources. This is recommended guidelines to keep shooters from copying this guy. It’s funny they’ll do it for a media outlet but not for schools. Maybe they finally got the point, but we’ll see next time there’s a school shooting. Either way it’s an admission of the notion that they can influence the situation but choose not to until it strikes close to home.

    • Hype the heck out of school shootings, get more school shootings. Life is good, if you’re in the news biz.

Conversely, if there’s a journalist shooting, DON’T hype the heck out of the shooter, we don’t want to encourage copycats when the victims are journalists instead of children.

  11. So, I’m to understand the U.N. weenies want the authority to address the “end user” of firearms (that would be *me*). Sounds like a great idea! They should be encouraged to go right ahead and authorize themselves to confiscate all firearms in the U.S., and then have every ambassador who voted for that, and their staffs, fan out and begin, I’d suggest in Texas. Sensibly, beginning in Austin seems a good idea, since it’s the most liberal area in TX. I doubt they would make it to San Antonio before a major goal was completely accomplished, namely the elimination of the UN as a functioning world entity, as well as a more minor one, demonstrating just one reason why that would not be a good idea.

      • They’re definitely functional…mostly in gumming up the works and extorting money through their global racket. It’s not helpful, but it is a function.
