Some things can be improved and some things can’t. Since Magpul decided their popular D-60 AR/M4 drum magazine is pretty much as good as it gets, the only thing left was to make a bigger louder version. Presenting the PMAG D-50 LR/SR GEN M3 magazine for 7/62/.308.

Here’s their press release . . .

A few years ago, we introduced the PMAG D-60® AR/M4, and ever since then, we’ve been working on how to make it better… and we couldn’t. Instead, we decided to make it bigger and louder. Introducing the Magpul PMAG® D-50™ LR/SR GEN M3™. Designed for those looking to carry 50 rounds of 7.62×51 NATO, because bigger is always better, no matter what anyone tells you.

Magpul® PMAG® D-50 LR/SR GEN M3® MAG993

The D-50 is a rugged, lightweight, and reliable 50-round polymer drum magazine designed for 7.62×51 NATO/.308 Winchester ammunition for SR25/M110 pattern rifles. It’s capable of using longer-than-SAAMI-spec match ammunition, up to 2.830” OAL, such as M118LR.

Engineered to the same exacting standards as the famous Magpul PMAG and PMAG D-60 drum magazines, the D-50 continues the PMAG tradition of high-capacity performance and dependability.  In addition, the D-50 brings GEN M3 features, which means enhanced strength, durability, and reliability. A ratcheting loading lever removes spring tension, making the D-50 easily loadable by hand.

An anti-glare translucent window on the rear of the drum makes for quick positive visual indication of remaining ammunition. Additionally, the D-50 can be disassembled quickly with a simple flat blade screwdriver, and a has a dot matrix pattern that allows for easy marking and identification. At approximately 1.5 lbs. empty, and 4.5 lbs. loaded, the Magpul D-50 is one of the lightest 50-round 7.62×51/.308 drums available and is priced well below current competition.

Designed specifically for 7.62×51 NATO/.308 Winchester ammunition and use with other calibers such as .260 Remington or 6.5 Creedmoor is not recommended.

That is sweet !! Magpul , make a line of magazines for my mini 14’s 6.8spc & 5.56 NATO please

    1. avatar DaveM says:

I’ll buy some Magpuls for my 5.56 Mini.
Gun Mag Warehouse has Ruger 20’s for $30 and 30’s for $36 which is kind of pricey in my world.
Tried different after market brands and they didn’t work as well as the Ruger mags.

  5. avatar MLee says:

We don’t need no stinkin reason to have one!

  6. avatar Anymouse says:

I’d rather have 3 20LRs. Lighter, cheaper, and less bulk. But, hey, what ever floats your goat.

    1. avatar ‘liljoe says:

Plus if there’s a jam you just rip it out and load the next one….

      Nothing floats my goat though

    2. avatar Guardiano says:

Right, because .22LR is practically ballistically identical to the .308 Win.

    3. avatar Guardiano says:

Damn it I read you wrong. NEVER MIND I’M DUMB

  7. avatar lonestararmsllc says:

    Nice!

  8. avatar James69 says:

  9. avatar Full Otto says:

    Gotta have it.

  10. avatar Fletch says:

But does it take Glock mags??????

  11. avatar David Zimmerman says:

So sweeeeet. They make them thar things to hunt? Animals or people?

  12. avatar MyName says:

That thing is going to weigh over 4 1/2 lbs when loaded. Shooting off-hand might be interesting.

  13. avatar YoM says:

    Mall ninja magnet.

  14. avatar GREGORY L KNOX says:

Why would I pay $149 for a 50 round drum compared to 8-30 round PMags Windows for $149 holding 240 rounds? One malfunction of the drum and you are screwed. One malfunction of the 30 rnd mag and you have 7 more to use. Just my point of view.
