Lupe Valdez, TX Democrat Candidate for Governor, Loses Department-Issued Pistol

UPDATE: According to nbcdfw.com, Ms. Valdez’s pistol has been found in the sheriff’s department property room:

The sheriff’s department said Tuesday the Beretta 9mm pistol issued to Valdez and reported last week to be missing was found during a “thorough inventory of every weapon” in the property room.

“After a previous audit failed to locate the weapon, current interim Dallas County Sheriff Marian Brown ordered another inventory be completed on the Sheriff’s Property Room yesterday,” the sheriff’s office said Tuesday morning.

During that search, the pistol issued to Valdez in 2011, after her own weapon malfunctioned, was found.

The sheriff’s office said they now believe the gun was surrendered Jan. 2 and mistakenly not entered into inventory at that time.

The sheriff’s department said they notified Valdez the weapon had been found and issued her an apology for any distress and hardship caused by the mistake.

Lupe Valdez is the former sheriff of Dallas County, Texas, serving in that elected position from 2005 to 2017. These days she’s the Democrat candidate for governor, running against incumbent Greg Abbott. According to multiple news sources like the Dallas News, the Fort Worth Star Telegram, and CBS News, Valdez was issued a Beretta Model 92SF back in 2011. But the pistol was never returned and Valdez has apparently lost it.

In an email sent to Dallas News from her campaign spokesman;

“As mentioned in the report, it is possible that this weapon could have been stolen or misplaced during Sheriff Valdez’s moving transition and she is working with the Dallas County Sheriff Department to locate the firearm,” Juan Bautista Dominguez – Valdez Campaign Spokesman.

Valdez is a clear underdog in the race. Texas hasn’t elected a Democrat governor in 28 years. Her biggest selling point seems to be that she’d be the state’s first Latino governor if elected.

What makes the lost firearm story so delicious is that Valdez is campaigning on a gun control agenda.

On guns, Valdez said she supports the concealed carry of handguns but opposed recently enacted Republican priorities to allow guns to be openly carried in holsters and to be carried concealed into university buildings and dorms.

She also said she supports stricter background checks for gun sales, limits on high-capacity magazines and removing guns from people involved in domestic abuse and other violent situations.

Another prominent plank in her “gun safety” agenda: safe gun storage laws.

And, she wrote, “We also should enact new safety requirements that hold parents accountable if reckless storage of weapons allows children to gain access to a firearm that they shouldn’t have been able to reach. A vast majority of students who commit violence at schools acquire their weapons from a family member’s home. This is a simple step that would encourage more cautious storage of weapons.”

Gun-grabber, heal thyself.

As my abuelo (grandfather) used to say, Dijo la sartén a la caldera, Quítate allá ojinegra (talk about the the pot calling the kettle black).

And these are the people who should only be trusted with guns.

    *mutter*…

  2. avatar Al says:

It’s probably a Beretta 92 FS, and being a Democrat, she simply doesn’t need it. She can always run her opponents down with her horse. So, no harm done.

    1. avatar neiowa says:

That horse appears to be rather small for it’s job. A Percheron would be more appropriate than that little thing.

      1. avatar pwrserge says:

I feel bad for the horse in that pic… It’s going to have back problems if it keeps carrying that weight.

Here’s an idea honey. Ditch the horse, walk a little more.

        1. avatar RockThisTown says:

I feel bad for the uniform . . . it’s screaming ‘Help me. . I can’t take any more punishment!’

      2. avatar Jim says:

        Clydsdale would be better

        1. avatar Geoff "Mess with the Bull, get the Horns" PR says:

Don’t do that to a majestic animal like a Clydesdale.

For her, a common mule is more appropriate…

      3. avatar CWT says:

What are the odds she wasn’t able to mount on her own?

        1. avatar Geoff "Mess with the Bull, get the Horns" PR says:

More likely, nothing would mount her…

          *snicker* 😉

  3. avatar barnbwt says:

Wow, she is absolutely stuffed into that uniform…good thing it’s got kevlar fibers holding her in.

    1. avatar LarryinTX says:

She does kinda look like police sausage.

      1. avatar Eric says:

        mmmm, police chorizo!

        1. avatar Hmmm says:

Dang you! I like chorizo. Now, when I hear that word, I’ll think of her. Not very appetizing

  4. avatar Winterborne says:

That woman has no clue how to sit a horse. Bet the horse is lightly sedated.

    1. avatar Southern Cross says:

From what I can see the sitting position is all wrong but my horse riding experience is in European, not Western style.

And she has 4 stars on her tabs. Another wannabe General of the Armies.

      1. avatar LarryinTX says:

Sorry, that’s *5* stars. 4 is simply “General”.

    2. avatar J says:

Horses are pretty common in texas law enforcement, so they are usually docile and well adjusted for city events. But it will probably need pain meds after jabba the cop dismounts.

  5. avatar Gunr says:

The first thing I thought of when I opened the post was “poor horse”

  6. avatar LarryinTX says:

She should probably recall *why* TX has not had a Dem Guv in 28 years. Ann Richards was doing a fine job as Guv, I liked her fine. Then Legislature sent her a bill to direct a study of the concept of concealed carry and she vetoed it. Dumbass named George W. somethingorother announced if the legislature sent him a CC bill he would sign it. She was out, he was in, and the idea of a “study” never even came up, CC passed the next year, and TX has never looked back at Dems, I’m not thinking this time will be different. Keep counting on gun control to be your ticket to Texas control, but don’t give up your day job.

    1. avatar barnbwt says:

It’s almost as if gun rights are a winning issue, but politicians are being coerced to not pursue it.

    2. avatar Bob Jones says:

Beg to differ but Richards was an idiot. Certified Austin Puke. Her appointees to government boards were the biggest bunch of nitwits in Texas history. One Parks and Wildlife appointee in particular hated guns and hunting and fishing. The others caused lots of economic damage to businesses through ignorance of what they were supposed to be doing as board members on state commissions.

      1. avatar Ed Schrade says:

Bob Jones….. Ms. Richards mandated that the business resale tax I D that had to be posted in plain sight at a business would use the owners social security number ! For everyone to see. That was changed after the foul mouthed skank was voted out.

  7. avatar Pawl from Florida says:

At first glance I thought it was the Michelin Man on a horse.

    1. avatar Ed Schrade says:

Pawl…..if they look under the rolls of overlap they may find the pistol and no telling what else.

  9. avatar former water walker says:

My god “she” looks like a close relative of Jay “jabba the hut” Prtizger. Only he will win…😢

  10. avatar Jay in Florida says:

Since she is a libitard. Might as well add a lost election along with her lost gun. To her record.

  11. avatar Curtis in IL says:

As an elected Sheriff, she was able to forego both the physical fitness test and the psych evaluation that are normally required to join the Sheriff’s Office. Either one might have disqualified her.

  12. avatar Dyspeptic Gunsmith says:

What will the consequences be, hmmm? Will she even have to reimburse the department for the loss of public property?

No, of course not. WTF was I thinking? I must be going insane…

I’d also observe that she looks just as goofy with eight stars on her collar as the male chiefs/sheriffs do.

  13. avatar Adam says:

Well, she definitely didn’t put it in her lunchbox. Woman looks like she never misses that. Must be taking a lesson from the armchair warriors at TTAG, putting on that “tactical girth”.

    1. avatar anonymoose says:

      YOU CANNOT IGNORE MY GIRTH.

  14. avatar uncommon_sense says:

Hmm. Did Ms. Valdez lose her pistol? Or did she “lose” her pistol — meaning she destroyed it to “get one more gun off the streets”, i.e. virtue signaling?

    1. avatar LarryinTX says:

I’m betting she “lost” it while she was putting a couple hundred bucks in her pocket. Most likely without benefit of NICS. Don’t do as I do …

  15. avatar jwtaylor says:

In the summer before elections Democrats always poll much better than they actual perform in November, especially in Texas. She’s behind by 15 points and Abbot’s lead is gaining. She’ll likely lose by nearly 20 points. She’s a huge drag on the party and they are desperately hoping that Beto will be the party’s salvation. Good luck with that.

    1. avatar Ralph says:

“She’s a huge drag on the party” in more ways than one. A HUGE drag.

  16. avatar bryan1980 says:

Only in Dallas county would someone like her be elected sheriff. She wouldn’t have stood a chance in any of the surrounding counties. I’m only speaking for the DFW area, of course; she’d fit the bill just fine in Harris, Travis, and Bexar counties.

    1. avatar Ranger Rick says:

That may be the case, but Lupe was able to achieve what others had previously failed to do and that was to have the Dallas County Jail pass State Inspection for the first time in 7 years. While that has nothing to do with the missing pistol she was able to do something commendable.

      1. avatar Model 31 says:

What did that entail? New cell locks or got the cable tv working?

        1. avatar LarryinTX says:

          Was food involved?

  17. avatar brian says:

“lost” = stole a gun; by a public official.

  18. avatar m. says:

Not enough open-border, sanctuary-city types already in office?

Seems like she needs a healthy dose of La Chancla.

  20. avatar Whats-a-da-Matta-wit-you? says:

She Lost her Pistol, did she check her fat rolls? I’m sure she’s still wearing it along with her duty belt. They were just enveloped by her biscuit bottom jelly rolls.

  21. avatar bobo says:

“”””””Lupe Valdez also blasts SB 4 ‘sanctuary city’ bill”””””

    IMHO 1000% F—ck her!!!!!!!!

on that one alone, like most demOrats she want to protect LAWBREAKING illegal aliens !!!!!!!!!!!!
and only does so for VOTES!

    like one person said
If dems fought for black rights as well as they do for illegals and DACA kids….there would be no gettos!!!!!

Dem’s have USED up the black vote, that well is dry and now they are ‘priming’ the pump to gain latino votes!

    1. avatar Indiana Tom says:

The black vote keeps getting shot and aborted.

  22. avatar Indiana Tom says:

Demoncraps should not be allowed to have guns. Check your fat rolls.

  23. avatar Chip in Florida says:

AS is typical with all things that want to be a politician…. Some animals are more equal than others.

TWO wastes of a perfectly good Beretta: Both issuing to her, AND her losing it.

So Democrats having boating accident’s are we now?. Lost a gun did we?. Those things do happen,

  28. avatar Hannibal says:

    That poor horse.

I don’t understand how you “misplace” a duty weapon. I’m further not sure how she doesn’t know whether it was misplaced or stolen. You strap that thing on every day, it’s not like a set of keys for the shed that you never use and throw in a drawer.

  29. avatar Tom in Oregon says:

(While trying to ignore the fat rolls) I notice the empty Asp baton holster just forward of the gun/holster.
    Did she lose that too?

    1. avatar MLee says:

It’s probably that when she’s sitting like that on the horse, it jabs her in her… uh, rather well developed rolls of……love handles.

  30. avatar Chris T from KY says:

No fat jokes here. But she is one irresponsible LEO. She is a terrible example for any group she might represent.

  31. avatar ric says:

She is also running against Libertarian candidate Mark Tippetts, a true supporter of the Second Amendment.

  32. avatar MLee says:

She has no idea where it went? She’d never get my vote…ever.

  33. avatar Gun Owning American says:

Looks like some criminal now has a new carry piece.

  34. avatar Richard McEnroe says:

That gun is probably already stuffed in a banger’s pants or maybe sitting in some other PD’s evidence locker…

  35. avatar Gunsmith from crappy Ct says:

Stay strong Texans, don’t let the stay-puff marshmallow woman get the votes, you’ll lose things you’ll never get back, I’m in the people’s republic of commiecticut and it’s so obviously crooked it’s sickening. Oh, and get that horse checked! He looks broken!

  36. avatar Don Kuhn says:

Sooooooo my question is when did she report it missing, before she left or after she left but wait shes a demotard so it wouldn’t matter the Commissioner’s Court surely wouldn’t want the DA to take action/

  37. avatar Raoul Duke says:

If she’s elected, expect the borders to open ala California style!

  38. avatar DanC says:

It will show up in the next illegal alien shootout……

Am I to understand that the correct pronunciation of her name is ‘Loopie’ ? She certainly seems to be.
