You may remember Gun Violence Restraining Orders as a California “innovation” that allows judges to order firearms confiscation after an ex parte hearing on domestic abuse charges. Meaning that Californians subject to a GVRO have no Fifth or Fourteenth Amendment right to due process. New Jersey’s civilian disarmament pols liked the sound of that. Governor Christie just vetoed the resulting bill, a move interpreted by nydailynews.com as N.J. Gov. Christie vetoes bill restricting guns from domestic abusersMethinks Governor Christie still has national political ambitions.

  1. I could almost cheer… but you had to post a picture of that idiot. 😛 I hope whatever his political ambitions are, it’ll be something where we don’t have to see his face in the news.

    • Debatable. You actually can get a CCL in some parts of CA. Try that in NJ and you’ll be hung out to dry so fast you won’t even have time to ask for extra starch.

      • When your largest city is more than half the size of the entire State of New Jersey, I’d say it averages out. You might as well say, “well you can still get a CCL in some parts of the Eastern Seaboard, try that in this one small portion of it.” LA Metro 11-17 mill pop. New Jersey 9 mil pop.

    • Reading this real late, but must agree with Vhyrus. Cali, possible, even likely in some areas. New Jersey…………Not even having justifiable cause justifies a permit……………..lest you a cop or ex….of course.

  2. “Methinks Governor Christie still has national political ambitions.”

I believe Christie is in charge of Trump’s team for finding a VP candidate… kind of like Cheney was in charge of the same team for Bush.

  3. Did Christie suddenly get religion? I don’t think so. He made his political bones as a gungrabber, and he still is. He’s not as bad as he used to be, but he’s still bad. Only he’s not Clinton bad, which is damning him with faint praise.

  4. While it is possible that Christie still has national political aspirations, I hope that he has actually changed some of his views as a result of campaigning in the states west of the Delaware River.

  5. Or he just thinks the bill is unconstitutional and would sign a bill that protected 55th and 145th Amendment rights.

  6. There’s plenty of presidential timber out there, none of which includes Christie. He had a shot and blew it.

He’s a petty, petulent, corrupt, vindictive little man. Political fortune is fickle, though. One guy can present that profile and fade into obscurity, while another presents the same profile and becomes the presumptive nominee. Politics is a crazy business.

    • “…while another presents the same profile and becomes the presumptive nominee.”

      *Cough*Hillary*cough*

  7. I think the police departments realized that there is NO upside for them trying to enforce this. A good way to get shot, trying to take guns from a wife beater.

  8. Good for Christie Chris.

Now if he’ll appoint an AG that will be sympathetic to the liberty of gun ownership

  9. That is a fantastic picture. Can you guys insert an auto play whoopee cyclone sound effect? A nice, long, low frequency one?

  10. Democrat gun grabbers are bad, but Republican gun grabbers are the worst. The dems do it because the party demands it, Reps do it because they want total control over the populace and are scared of us.
Tell the truth, would any of you vote for the wall street party if the dems weren’t pro abortion and anti gun?
