Everyday Carry Pocket Dump of the Day: Ian Wolf

Ian is a restaurant manager. Accordingly, along with the rest of his EDC gear, he carries Smith & Wesson M&P Shield. Because guns. The rest of his gear is detailed at Everyday Carry. You should check it out.

Is it just me or do each of these EDC posts seem to contain a lot of stuff? Don’t get me wrong that’s all well and good I just carry a lot less. Key, phone, wallet, gun, spare mag.

    1. avatar Scott Neves says:

You forgot your knife and flashlight at a minimum. I use both items everyday (I like apples)

      1. avatar Rob C says:

The knife I have thought of but haven’t found a good way to carry one. In the pocket it just adds bulk. Besides I don’t want full on battle rattle as I flee the scene. For a flashlight I just shake my phone.

    2. avatar Rooster says:

this particular setup isn’t too bad but I have to say, so many people seem to not have cellphones but instead carry 3 knives or a lighter (with no smokes).

      1. avatar David PA/NJ says:

I assume they just used their phone to take the picture. I know that’s what I would do since I don’t own another camera.

By the way, does this everydaycarry website have any affiliation with TTAG or RF?

      2. avatar DrewN says:

I don’t carry a phone, but I do carry a knife and a flashlight, both of which I use multiple times a day. I hate multi tools though (for carrying, they are fine to stash in your car or whatever), since I’m usually wearing a full toolbelt anyway. Watch, wallet, knife, flashlight, keys, snubbie.

    3. avatar onezero says:

I agree. Some of them even have handguns that are too large for pockets which negates the EDC pocket dump title. I carry just enough to get to my vehicle where I can gear up if need be. I only carry a light at night.

      1. avatar twency says:

A holster is basically a specialized pocket.

  2. avatar Geoff PR says:

That little keychain prybar is kinda neat, but not $40 neat…

    1. avatar Ben says:

The titanium version (shown in the post) is $40. Griffen Pocket Tools has other versions that run cheaper. I think their Stainless Steel version runs $20-30 depending on finishes, etc. They have also come out with a couple of different sizes.

      1. avatar Geoff PR says:

$20 is kinda pushing it, for me…

    2. avatar 80 D says:

I just received that 1xAAA Microstream light a week ago. It is great imho. Small enough for fifth pocket, bright and, best of all, no GD strobe.

  3. avatar Mk10108 says:

    Who’s got a yoyo?

    1. avatar Boyd says:

Me. I carry my protostar with me it keeps me busy when I have free time.

  4. avatar JK says:

M&P Shield. A prime example of how a safety on a carry gun is far more likely to kill you than save your life.

    1. avatar Jason says:

No kidding…that is the most useless safety I’ve ever used. It’s like they held an in-house engineer competition to see who could designed the least user friendly safety lever.

    2. avatar twency says:

It’s like a little black half-tic tac, except not as easy to grasp.

Good thing S&W came out with a non-safety version of the Shield.

  5. avatar joe_thousandaire says:

I really wanted to like this gun, but those ergonomics. The grip is too small for my hands, feels like I’m holding a deck of cards with sharp edges. . Also if you’re going to have a safety it should at least be usable.

  6. avatar David says:

Channel locks in your EDC? Interesting.

    1. avatar Mark_PAV says:

Yeah, still scratch’n my head about that too.

Maybe he signed it out of the tool room at work and forgot to return it before he took the picture……????

  7. avatar rooster says:

The Knipex pliers (German) are without a doubt the best tool available. Have many in my toolbox, not one of my everyday carry items, of which I have few.

  8. avatar IAB2 says:

Too much stuff for my pockets.
Keys, wallet, phone, sharp thingy that folds up, and a SureFire at night.
Thats CA light for OFWGs to fight to get to the car.

  9. avatar Rich Gun Guy says:

    Let’s see your panties too
