One of the best-received new guns of 2015 was the Ruger Precision Rifle. Our Tyler Kee was a huge fan, particularly liking the 6.5 Creedmoor flavor. And you, our dear readers, seemed to agree as the RPR was head and shoulders above the competition in the voting for best new rifle of 2015. That’s Ruger CEO Mike Fifer (right) and engineer John Prather, the main man behind the design, accepting the hardware that comes from all the hard work. Congrats.

  1. Haven’t shot one yet but I handled one the other day and was impressed.

Doubly impressed by the fact it had a LEO/MIL member price tag of freaking 799!

Wish I had that laying around, couldn’t really justify buying it though.

  2. I like it – I see we have CEO Michael O. Fifer there. Hopefully you guys mentioned to him never to give in to the psycho Marxists in Washington or try to compromise nonsense like Mr. Ruger did with this statement:

“The best way to address the firepower concern is therefore not to try to outlaw or license many millions of older and perfectly legitimate firearms (which would be a licensing effort of staggering proportions) but to prohibit the possession of high capacity magazines. By a simple, complete and unequivocal ban on large capacity magazines, all the difficulty of defining ‘assault rifle’ and ‘semi-automatic rifles’ is eliminated. The large capacity magazine itself, separate or attached to the firearm, becomes the prohibited item. A single amendment to Federal firearms laws could effectively implement these objectives.”

    William B. Ruger

Other than that – Ruger is awesome.

  3. I handled one while waiting on paperwork to clear for an AR I bought at Academy. Amazing rifle and I’d love to own one, but it’s a bit pricey for me. Maybe someday though!
