Black Rifle Coffee Company to TTAG: Our Service Proves We’re Not Anti-Gay

 (courtesy Black Rifle Coffee Company)

Click here for the Black Rifle Coffee Company’s video response to my blog post accusing them of gay-bashing. “You know it’s bullshit that all of us deployed to protect the very freedoms that allow personal preference and choice,” a Company rep declares. Obviously, they’re not saying their deployment was bullshit. They’re saying that their service allows them to bash gays. ‘Cause that’s what their video did. I still maintain that BRCC should take it down and apologize. Oh wait. They did take it down. And this is their apology? Calling those of us appalled by their “torture the gay guy” scene “hipsters” and showing some lipstick lesbians making out? Sorry guys. Not good enough.

  1. avatar some_guy says:

Yea I always knew TTAG was pretty Libertarian.

    1. avatar Stinkeye says:

Is there something wrong with that?

      1. avatar Rambeast says:

Apparently to the Hard Right Nationalists (read: social conservatives) that peruse this site, there is. It’s ironic that both “parties” want to chew away at our rights, from either end of the spectrum.

        1. avatar Jim says:

^^^^ this. Rambeast is a prophet.

    2. avatar Some_Other_Guy says:

Actually the libertarian reaction to this would involve some critical thinking, not just reacting based on not liking the content of someone else’s commercial. Couple things: This didn’t actually advocate violence against anyone, so there is no victim. That means that if we are going to go by the non-aggression principle then TTAG is actually in the wrong. Also I don’t know that the commercial specifically bashed gay folks, or effeminate man-children who seem to be appearing in society at an increasing rate. So yeah, there’s the whole ‘not actually gay bashing’ thing. So in a nutshell the libertarian view would have been to shut the hell up and watch something else since this didn’t actually harm anyone or infringe on anyone’s rights.

Now the Social Justice Warrior reaction on the other hand…

      1. avatar Paul says:

Maybe I’m missing something but I don’t see anything wrong with this video. What’s up RF? Am I to conclude that gay, lesbian, transgender and whatever can say and do anything they want but these guys make a 40 second vid and suddenly they need to apologize?

        1. avatar Greg says:

      2. avatar Indiana Tom says:

So in a nutshell the libertarian view would have been to shut the hell up and watch something else since this didn’t actually harm anyone or infringe on anyone’s rights. My view on this whole media event. If this company does not want to be PC, that is fine with me. Nobody is forcing people to buy their products.

      3. avatar Virginia Gunner says:

Thankfully the SJW types weren’t around in my elementary school when we played Smear the Queer at recess. Much sensitivity training might have ensued.

        1. avatar DallyMcNally says:

I know, right? “Smear the Queer” was much rougher than your typical “Tackle the man (with the football)” game. Maybe THAT’S where we were being the most insensitive – and bullying, too!

  2. avatar Removed_californian says:

Personally I found it not attacking the homosexual community, rather attacking feminine men that seem to populate society. I got the message and it have me a chuckle.

Personally I appreciate it when companies choose not to be PC, but to each their own I do suppose.

    1. avatar Pillager1900 says:

I agree with you 100%. Just because you are a Gay man does not mean you have to be a looser hipster. I know as-well-as being friends with several gay guys who still are manly. Granted, I also know just as many girly gay men, who are nice guys, I just don’t have anything in common with them, there for we are not “friends” (I don’t hate them either, just don’t hang out with them due to our lack of common preferences). That being said. we still rag on each other about their lack of masculinity and my lack of “culture”. Since I work in the graphic design industry, If I had any hatred for someone due to their sexual preference I would have to find a new field of work.

      1. avatar DaveG says:

RE: “… Gay man does not mean you have to be a looser hipster..”

How do you propose that someone could avoid becoming that “looser” gay man? Abstinence?

Spelling is not just for losers.

        1. avatar Mark says:

          Butt crunches?

        2. avatar emfourty gasmask says:

Just tell them to do more leg lifts

      2. avatar Doug says:

        Bad spelling is offensive, looser.

    2. avatar AllAmerican says:

Agreed. I personally enjoy all forms of being politically uncorrect. It tickles me pink when people of all races, creeds, and sexual orientations are offended because they can’t take a joke. And while we’re on the topic, there is absolutley nothing wrong with torturing hipsters.

      1. avatar Removed_californian says:

      2. avatar ShaunL. says:

        “It tickles me pink”

That could be construed as a homophobic jab…. Maybe you should start writing your apology letter now 😛

      3. avatar CMM says:

What’s more funny than people of all persuasions being offended is other people not of those persuasions being really offended about it. That is true political correctness – you must be offended for others, because those others might not notice the offense they should take (and they absolutely must be offended, you can’t not take offense). Note: being offended for someone is not the same as defending someone’s rights.

Now I’ve offended myself. Who do I sue?

        1. avatar Tom in Oregon says:

I am offended that you have offended yourself.
          I found it offensive.

      4. avatar srw123 says:

        Another +1

    3. avatar Chadwick P. says:

Hell yes. They have a right to not agree with someone and so do I and so does everybody. They aren’t taking rights away by making fun of a group of people. Now if they start to buy votes and form numerous coalitions or whatever bloomturd calls them… well at that point they are actively trying to infringe on someone’s rights. Talking and having an opinion is no crime unless well you say something bad about our current regime. Nancy boys need to buck up and that goes for hetero, metro, or homo. Acting like a teenage girl should get you a first class ticket to the brunt of a joke well unless you are a teenage girl that is.

    4. avatar Me says:

“feminine men that seem to populate society.”
Are you sayin’ feminine men should be culled? That makes me laugh. You are obviously afraid of them, which reminds me that the biggest pussies are the ones who talk shit about pussies for being pussies. Haha…what a douche.

  3. avatar Fuque says:

If it doesnt personally affect me, I couldnt givea rats a$$ one way or the other.

    1. avatar S.CROCK says:

Yea I don’t own an AR so I feel the same way.

  4. avatar Chris Thompson says:

Who cares if somebody makes fun of gays? What they do is an abomination to God.

I would have loved it if they would have killed some gays their video.

Too bad in this statist collectivist society that would be murder.. I’d call it doing the work of God.

        1. avatar GJ says:

      Don’t feed the trolls now…

    3. avatar AllAmerican says:

Troll, you would be surprised to know that most of TTAG’s commenters are much more libertarian as opposed to religious conservatism. You liberals should try reading books.

      1. avatar Chris Thompson says:

I am not a troll, I’m a straight, white, male, heterosexual, patriotic American and proud of it.

Gays are against God and should be exterminated.

        1. avatar Cameron b says:

The world did just fine before your “God” it’ll do just fine after it too.

        2. avatar KyleInColorado says:

        3. avatar TheBear says:

I wasn’t sure before but now I know for sure this is a troll.

Nobody actually writes like this outside of satire pieces and political cartoons.

        4. avatar Richard in WA says:

“For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” – John 3:17

“Therefore you have no excuse, O man, every one of you who judges. For in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, practice the very same things.” – Romans 2:1

        5. avatar Joel from PA says:

As an American Christian Conservative, these people are to be prayed for, not exterminated. It is not your place to condemn or judge.

        6. avatar Anonymous says:

Gays are against God and should be exterminated.

This is why we have the first amendment.

We have the second amendment so gay people can protect themselves from governments who voted to have them exterminated.

    4. avatar Leo Atrox says:

God doesn’t need you to cull the herd for Him. He could do it Himself, if he thought it was a problem. Thing is, abomination or not, they are also His children; and I reckon He loves them every bit as much as He loves you. What you’re saying runs afoul of ye olde third Commandment; using His name to justify your own bigotry. Jesus broke bread with the sinners; He didn’t stone them.

      1. avatar Ben says:

Your comment is quite far off base. Proverbs 8:17 says, “I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.” Consider what an abomination is-something that causes hatred to God. Homosexuality is an abomination (Lev 18:22), and as Christians, we are to hate those who hate God (Psalm 139:21). This leaves no room for tolerance to homosexuals. Read the Bible before you make another absurd comment.

        1. avatar emfourty gasmask says:

Are you really about to pick a verse out of Leviticus? 😛 You do understand the implications of that, correct?

        2. avatar Ben says:

I perfectly understand the implications. Everyone will either A. hate me for daring to think that Leviticus is the Word of God, or B. assume I am a bigot, and therefore discount the scripture referenced. Not that I care, as others have just as much earthly right to have an opinion as me, BRCC, Robert Farago, or anyone else you care to list. This does not, however, change the fact that God considers homosexuals abominations.

        3. avatar John says:

Ben, part of the reason why I support the Second Amendment as I do is because it allows what I will call the “Moderate Majority” to aid in the defense of our fellow Americans should they come under attack. That would include our fellow Americans who happen to be homosexual. Even if you never act on your beliefs about them, I consider your violent ideology to be no different than that which is held by ISIS fighters and other religious terrorist groups. I stand ready to defend my fellow Americans.

        4. avatar Ben says:

@John, I did not make myself clear enough-I’m sorry. If there is an innocent person in need of help, and I have the means to do it, I will go help him, or her, regardless of race, religion, or gender. I can not make myself more clear on this matter. Moreover, I will also not refuse to sell things necessary to life (i.e, water). I’m sorry for any misinterpretation that there could have been. The gist of my comment was over a mis-used and ill-applied scripture verse, not killing homosexuals. While I believe it is wrong, that is not my place, but the civil magistrates, to execute justice. To reiterate, please understand, I never said that wanton killing (or any killing outside of lawful self-defense) is Biblically justifiable, just that that particular gentleman had misused (quite badly) a verse from scripture. Thanks for your reply, and have a good night.

      2. avatar Joel from PA says:

        1. avatar DisThunder says:

Right there with you guys. Come near my family and friends, gay, straight, and everything in between, with that kind of asinine desire to “cull”, and you’ll find yourself meeting your maker in short order.

      3. avatar Indiana Tom says:

God doesn’t need you to cull the herd for Him. He could do it Himself, if he thought it was a problem. Well, Mother Nature tends to be a mother when it comes to the long term culling of homosexuals in the gene pool.

    5. avatar SteveInCO says:

I hope you are a troll. Because the alternative is that there is one really disgusting individual out there I hope never to meet face to face.

      1. avatar Chris Thompson says:

Then I hope we never meet face to face.. Because I’m not a troll, I’m a Christian American Nationalist

        1. avatar Ummmmm says:

          I don’t believe you.

        2. avatar jonwaynetaylor says:

The exact taxonomy of this piece of human refuse is of little concern to me

    6. avatar ShaunL. says:

“Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned”

Your previous comments would most likely make YOU an abomination to whatever god you believe in.

If the book is important to you maybe you should try READING IT.

      1. avatar Ben says:

You misinterpreted this passage greatly. The scripture goes on to say that by the measure we judge, we will be judged by that same measure. However, it is clear that because God requires perfection, judging anyone by anything other than God’s law is wrong, because we as humans are flawed and sinful. Therefore, under this measure (God’s law), we can and should judge people’s actions, because the law of God clearly states that homosexual activity is both wrong and sinful. Have a good evening.

        1. avatar ShaunL. says:

That may well be your personal interpretation(and that of others) but the bible is ripe for differing interpretation as well. In a collection of writings as large as the bible one can pick and choose the most meaningful parts to them and build a theology around those. The church did that years ago and still chooses what it’s followers are allowed to see in order to guide them as the church wishes.

Out of respect for your personal religion I’ll just say I disagree with your opinions and know many who believe in the bible who would disagree as well. I support some of my local churches because I see them doing good in my community not because I believe what they believe. They know my beliefs and accept me as I am. I would also stand up to defend the beliefs of those people because I see them as a net good in my community. Hatred does not rule them nor does it guide their actions and I respect them all the more for it.

    7. avatar Paelorian says:

Murdering sinners who aren’t hurting or victimizing anyone but themselves is an abomination to God. Jesus clearly did not believe in going around murdering every sinner he met. Far from it, he had sympathy and tried to heal people and reform sinners. I think Jewish and Christian scripture is very clear that if you believe in murdering suspected “victimless” sinners you’re a terrible person who God would like to see killed. People may do abominable things to themselves but as long as they’re not hurting anyone else you have no justification to murder them.

Is “Puppy Room” a euphemism for something? Please do not post the link.

PS: No play given here regarding promotion of a self-limiting minority interest, and no :Equality” can be given/granted. [slightly tangential to this argument but. . . ]

Those requesting “gay marriage licenses” do so under the guise of requesting “equality” however, “Equality is the formula for sameness on either side of short, horizontal, parallel lines. It is, by itself, a formula that creates the same solution regardless of the direction of the calculation across it, and has its own Value apart from the things that are being equated.Equality, however, can only be achieved. It cannot be given or granted. Something is either equal to another or it can become equal to another. Something or someone cannot make something else its equal, nor does such a declaration make it so. Equal treatment can be attempted, but it cannot be exempt from bias, for this too is a request to be made equal.” [TERMS, J.M. Thomas, R., 2012, pg. 109]

Those requesting equality with “marriage” can only achieve equality if Marriage is somehow lessened in stature to the position that the former occupies, because if they were equal, equality would not have to be asked-for. Man and Wife (male/female partnered marriages OBVIOUSLY simply do not want to be equated with the opposite). The reason is simple too. The needs of the one negate the goals of the other. Being confused with a ‘gay’ member of society, hampers a person finding a desired heterosexual SPOUSE and mate.

Further, if “gay marriage” were an enviable position, if it were worthy of emulation by those taking part in Marriage (as previously and currently defined), those taking part in Marriage would be seeking equality the other way. This is just not so, and there is no label of “bigotry” that can stick to that. If what homosexuals had (were offering Society) was somehow “better” we would be beating down their door to get it.

Homosexuals should instead, attempt, in whatever way they can, to create some immutable and lasting value worth emulation, and develop their own name for it. Anything else only forces Marriage to move-off to some other “term” where again homosexuals are not equal, or the Term becomes hyphenated to represent the same disparity [loosely paraphrased: TERMS, J.M. Thomas, R., 2012, pg. 109]

        Quite popular in some places.

Having a cat, I have no need for a Cat Cafe, but I bet the cat would love a service where someone would show up when I’m not here to dispense cat treats, belly rubs, and whatever else an animated cat toy would do.

As for who cares about offending the “twinkletoes”….. I’ll agree with the premise(not so much the phrasing). No-one has the “right” not to be offended.

  9. avatar Steve says:

Funny how you sit here on a pro 2nd Amendment website, enjoying your 1st Amendment right talking about the 2nd Amendment and all.. But the moment another person or company exercises their 1st Amendment right you jump on your high horse and want them to apologize..

You’re as bad as Obama trying to stop us from talking about guns with his latest shenanigans..

Live and let live. If you don’t like the commercials they produce, don’t support their business. Writing about it does nothing but drive business to them.. I personally find their commercials hilarious and will continue to support them. Check yourself before you go attacking others, Robert.

    1. avatar JoshinGA says:

Dear christ why do people never understand the 1st amendment has nothing to do with freedom of speech UNLESS the government is trying to oppress it. Sure, BRCC can make w/e videos they want to make, but if you think that their statements wont be used to negatively reflect on gun owners at large you’re either delusional, stupid, or both. Which is why Robert (and I) think that this video was damaging and threatening to our gun rights.

      1. avatar Removed_californian says:

I think of it as a veteran owned company before I think of it as a pro-2A company.

        1. avatar int19h says:

Who cares if it’s veteran-owned or not? Being a veteran doesn’t make one smarter or otherwise better than the rest of us, and is not an excuse for being a bigot (or anything else that is not good).

        2. avatar Yellow Devil says:

          @ int19h

Bigots? Hmmm, please tell us what you really think.

I don’t think you know what the word “Bigot” really means.

      2. avatar Steve says:

JoshinGA, now it appears that because I don’t agree with you, you’re insulting me? Calling someone delusional, stupid, or both doesn’t represent the gun community any better.. You’re being extremely hypocritical, basically saying if someone doesn’t agree, they’re mentally lacking. You think the way you’re going about it isn’t damaging and threatening to our gun rights? Look at how you’re representing gun owners, and the way you’re addressing those that disagree with you!

Robert Farago demanding apologies for BRCC’s commercials is like ISIS demanding apologies for drawing Mohamed cartoons. To insult other readers’ opinions and resort to calling them “delusional, stupid, or both” is just as damaging and threatening to our gun rights..

Anyone who wants to restrict the rights and liberties of other people are CANCER to society as a whole. You are no better than those you claim are damaging our community and reputation, simply by trying to mute other people/companies you don’t agree with.

I very much doubt that any of these guys have actually fought al-Qaeda. It’s an underground terrorist cell network, they don’t field troops (and no, Taliban is not al-Qaeda, and in particular is not really interested in world domination).

    2. avatar Rambeast says:

Since the revolution? 1812, and maybe WWII. Since then, nothing. The rest of them were either corporate resource grabs, political pushes, or a simple game of “my dick is bigger than yours”. It gets old hearing the “I fought for your freedom” lie over and over. You fought for benefits, a GI college fund, and when getting down to brass tacks a false sense of patriotism. Once fooled into “service”, your main motivator (for the actual fighters) was to fight for the guy next to you.

      1. avatar Yellow Devil says:

Nothing wrong with fighting for the man next to you. In the end it all boils down to that, because all the original reasons, justifications, politics and politicians who made the decisions fall by the wayside when you are in the sh_t.

Technically, the GI Bill is a benefit enlisted service members have to pay/invest into with a few dollars out their first couple of paychecks. It is also subject to be withheld from a discharged service member if they he or she did not complete the terms of their service satisfactorily. Historically, it was created as a means of ensuring that most young people had a way to catch up to their civilian counterparts since they voluntarily (or in past conflicts, involuntarily because of a draft) gave up what was the start of their most productive years.

As for the what rights veterans or service members fought for? Well as I said to a ranting liberal(tarian) one time who asked that very same question, “At the very least, enough of us volunteered to join the present military so you or you children have the right not to.”

  15. avatar Kevin says:

Your interpretation of their message is all sideways. They clearly feel that here in America people can say what they want to say, and that’s what they fought for. And for people who want to troll about what war was for “people’s rights” – you know better. It’s about the oath taken on day one where men & women swear to protect the Constitution with their lives. Don’t look for something that isn’t there.

People who want to equate these guys to gay bashers have never met someone who truly hates gays. These guys are just having fun, making fun of wimps who drink crappy coffee and pay too much for junk, all while looking down their faux-sophisticated noses at others who think Starbucks sucks.

Oh, and posting this drivel on a site that has been flooding my newsfeed with BS reposts of naked women holding guns…yeah. That’s some seriously high moral ground you’re holding on to there, pal.

And as someone else said, I’m going to go buy some coffee. Black Rifle Coffee, which is WAY better than Starbucks.

    1. avatar AllAmerican says:

I’m in. RF is going to make these guys tons of money.

    2. Did you see the ad in question?

      1. avatar Kevin says:

Watched it and laughed. Heartily. The other day I went through their FB page and watched all of the videos, some practically on repeat.

They don’t care about how people feel. They just think that hipsters and Starbucks suck. This is how they choose to express that opinion. Also, these guys feel as though people who get offended should be offended.

The rest of us will laugh. Heartily. And then buy more of their coffee.

        1. avatar ShaunL. says:

I saw it too. It amused me so I sent it to a couple of my friends that happen to be gay……. This may come as a culture shock but they were ALSO amused and showed their friends. When are people going to come to grips with the fact that people within the gay community are as unique and differing as people in the straight community?

      2. avatar Ben Harrison says:

Seriously, anyone that can claim to be “harmed” by an advertisement on the internet is one of two things:

        1) so mentally fragile that they shouldn’t be on the internet in the first place; or leave their home–ever.

        2) a hypocritical ass that believes that while they have an unfettered, unrestricted right to their own opinion, no one else has a right to theirs unless the other party agrees with their opinion.

Either way, the world in general, and America in particular, needs fewer of both groups having any ability to sway the opinions or affect the lives of the people that are both mentally tough and intellectually honest.

    3. avatar SteveInCO says:

People who want to equate these guys to gay bashers have never met someone who truly hates gays.

Scroll up a ways to find such an individual, and be prepared to vomit.

  16. avatar Craig says:

Writers like you are the problem now days. I will make sure not to read anymore articles written by you. People need to learn to take a joke. Get your dang panties out of a bunch.

    1. avatar Stitch1870 says:

But if Robert can’t get his panties up in a bunch over insignificant stuff like this or “muh police brutality” anytime a cop has to go hands on with someone, he won’t have anything left to do in life.

  17. avatar actionphysicalman says:

I didn’t see the video as gay bashing or mean spirited.

  18. avatar Good Riddance says:

“You know it’s bullshit that all of us deployed to protect the very freedoms that allow personal preference and choice”

  19. avatar Ridiculous rant says:

I think TTAG may not know as much about military culture as they think they do. Being in the military, particularly an infantry battalion, is about as homo erotic as it gets without actually being gay. Military personnel often use off color jokes as a coping method for dealing with the awkwardness of it all, eventually you become accustomed to it and its part of your sense of humor. I didn’t find anything in this video offensive, it was all mostly tongue in cheek, off color humor.

  20. avatar Cameron b says:

RF: you’re not gunna win this one. I wasn’t crazy about the video, it slanted a little more mean than I would have liked. ” coffee boarding” was the real cake topper.

They issued a statement and they’re standing by what they feel is ok. I don’t agree with them but I also don’t drink their coffee.

    1. avatar Geoff PR says:

“RF: you’re not gunna win this one. ”

      He already has.

The volume of replies is an indicator of page hits, and that puts cash right in his pocket.

      RF is likely well pleased…

      1. avatar Cameron B says:

I find myself nodding to that.

  21. avatar Chris says:

Checked out their website, found their product descriptions about ‘intimidating’ hipsters while being a Real Man who does Manly stuff to be just a cringe inducing as the self important snobs wearing wool scarves in the summer.
If I’m going to buy small batch coffee, it’ll be from a local roaster. Edgy political incorrectness and huffy attitudes about being better than everyone else doesn’t sell well to me.

They can advertise however they want. Being openly supportive of gun rights, while nice to see, doesn’t mean I’ll be more inclined to give them my money.

  22. avatar Former Water Walker says:

Amazingly offensive video-and I’m not pro-happy boy or boy-boy “marriage”. I’m with you RF-these doofuses(?) are beyond the pale. And please don’t bring up your volunteer service about “protecting” us all.

  23. avatar steve says:

Guess being a hipster must make one gay. Nice RF , generalizing a whole set of people to drive clicks.

  24. avatar Gman says:

Which advertisement do we remember? The one that drives us crazy. I can’t see the video, but from the comments I get the gist. Is pussies associated with gays? Maybe where you are from, not so much for me. When I grew up, pussy was wimp, nerd, gutless. I really never associated it with homophobia. Now, Mary, that’s gay. So I guess the real question is, was this a successful, even if distasteful, ad?

  25. avatar Tommycat says:

You guys DO realize that the feminine male homosexual is a bash on gays. As if being masculine means you can’t be gay. Or being feminine means you’re automatically gay. I know some men who are very femme, but straight. So perpetuating that the guys who acted femme were gay is every bit as bad as the supposed bashing.

    1. avatar jonwaynetaylor says:

Yeah, that was what came off in the first add to me as well, and the reason it made me cringe. If they had just water boarded some sissy dude, I’d have laughed. But when they associated weak with gay, that’s when it went off-sides. Maybe BRCC didn’t see it that way until is was pointed out, and that’s why they took it down. Maybe not, I don’t know. I do know that one of the guys in the original video and the response video above is a Matt Best, a former ranger, so half the guys he served with were probably gay. (All the Way gay.)
As far as the response video, if that didn’t make you at least smirk, you’ve lost your sense of humor.

  26. avatar Cg123 says:

I am a combat veteran and a former infantryman, and still serve as an active duty aviator.

I have been an avid TTAG reader, and even contributor.

This article, and it’s whining is ridiculously far off base. A large portion of your readership is current and former military, and the rest are generally friends of. I cannot fathom that the entire TTAG staff are this out of touch with the veteran community. Black Rifle are entirely composed of combat veterans, and have a long record of veteran outreach. Along with companies like Ranger Up and Article 15, these guys are among the most visible organizations Out there.

And TTAG is THE most visible weapons blog on the planet.

How can the biggest firearms blog be so out of touch with the veteran community.

How’s about this, before you go Whining about a veteran group, maybe check with some of your veteran readers to see if you’re on the right track, or just out of touch with your audience

    1. avatar Ridiculous rant says:

      ^^ this

    2. avatar bloop bloop says:

Here’s the thing, you don’t get a free pass for being a veteran. If you are a bigoted asshole, then you can get called out on it. I don’t give a crap if you served or haven’t. You aren’t that special for getting a government job.

      1. avatar Anner says:

Some of the best and worst people I’ve ever met are those on active duty.

    3. avatar Yee says:

Translation: veteran feelings are extra special, TTAG should vet their articles so that they are not offended because they are such special snowflakes, having worked for the government.

      1. avatar Cg123 says:

Translation : stop being a whiny baby , and if you think you’re being a whiny baby, ask someone who isn’t a whiny baby to make sure you aren’t making an ass out of yourself

        1. avatar Yee says:

“making an ass out of yourself”

Black Rifle Coffee Company did that all by themselves, no checking required.

    4. avatar int19h says:

Are you basically saying that the veteran community as a whole is extremely bigoted, and those that wish to pander to it have to accept and perpetuate said bigotry, as well?

This argument has been made a few times already, and it makes me wonder: if this were 1946, would you guys be similarly up in arms if RF dared criticize a satirical performance by a bunch of veterans that bashed “niggers” while perpetuating all the associated stereotypes? After all, racism was very much a thing about many veterans back then, and it was before such views became socially unacceptable…

      1. avatar Yellow Devil says:

Oh there you go, throwing out the word bigoted again…

But, surprised you didn’t call them “Hobophobes”. C’mon man get with the program.

  27. avatar 2AMexican says:

I didn’t have any problem with their first video, I found it funny. I would have liked to maybe seen a little more Girl on Girl in their video response though. Woof.

  28. avatar Hannibal says:

Showing some lipstick lesbians kissing to prove you’re not anti-homosexual is like screwing the black maid to prove you’re not racist.

It doesn’t make the point you’re hoping it will.

  29. avatar Dale Smith says:

If making fun of somebody offends you, grow a spine and some thicker skin. I missed your first post apparently, as I would’ve stated the same thing. Quit being a little bitch. These guys are liked by a BUNCH of folks. Many of which read your site. I’ll drop YOU waaaay before I let them go. Drop it, or lose a bunch of us.

    1. avatar Yee says:

Au contraire, this sounds like a bunch of massively butthurt vets who got offended by TTAG calling out their bigotry.

      1. avatar Dale Smith says:

If you don’t get their IDGAF sense of humor, or think that making fun of people isn’t ok, you’re likely part of the problem in America. I support gay rights. I also believe that the door is wide open to be a dick if a business or individual decides to do so. Granted, their are possible repercussions, but if you don’t give a damn, go for it.

        1. avatar Stinkeye says:

Isn’t one of the possible repercussions of being a dick that someone might call you out on it? Seems to me that BRCC can be assholes if they want, and RF can bitch about it if he wants. Free country and all that, y’know…

        2. avatar Yee says:

Didn’t you know? Veterans are Gods on Earth and their opinions must never be criticized.

  30. avatar O-Hebi says:

WHOOPTY DOO WHO CARES?! This is an awesome blog and one of the most visible on the planet but, if (a big IF), the goal of TTAG is to be one more PC police member then I can see that going the other way. Quickly!

    1. avatar pg2 says:

TTAG is one of the more PC sites on the internet, pro-gun or not.

  31. avatar Jon D. says:

Well now, that didn’t work out for you very well did it TTAG?

  32. avatar Ralph says:

Before we go all whoop-ass on Black Rifle Coffee Company or RF, we need to check with Caitlin Jenner to see how she feels about it.

    1. avatar vv ind says:

    2. avatar Wiregrass says:

      Better check with Kanye too.

  33. avatar A-Game says:

RF seems very liberal and progressive on social and morale issues. The Gay and Lesbian and the people who mutilate their body community has been spewing hate speech against anyone who opposes their choice of lifestyle. When they put out formal apologies to the LDS Church, Roman Catholic and others, then I would probably say they should apologize. They never will so I will simply say that hate breeds hate.

This is a morality issue. You can’t expect tolerance and maturity from immoral men and women. It is a two way street!!!

RF, you should be demanding apologies and change from organizations that promote the violation of the constitution if you demand apologies.
Articles about coffee companies and their marketing material is not what I want to read about on TTAG. It has nothing to do about The Truth About Guns.

  34. avatar Kellen says:

The whole thing was a joke not a dick, don’t take it so hard.

    1. avatar jonwaynetaylor says:

You made me snort Red Man out of my nose. Not easy to do. Nor was it painless.

  35. avatar Anaxis says:

Veterans or not, these guys with tacticool beards, gear, black rifles and specialty coffee are themselves a type of hipster.

  36. avatar Eric Blootered says:

ah ha ha ha ha. Once again, BRCC wins the day. I’ve never bought coffee from them, but now that I know how much the gun truthers get their panties all bunched up over a successful company owned by pro-gun Americans, I’m buying some as gifts for friends.

Why don’t you pussies go back to cowering in your safe little corner of the Internet before you get upset again, okay?

  37. avatar nynemillameetuh says:

    BRCC: [makes funny commercial]
    TTAG: [kvetches about teh gay]
    BRCC: [makes funnier reply video]

  38. avatar Sean N says:

    You know what….

Being a veteran doesn’t instantly make somebody smarter, better educated, more important, more knowledgeable, more empathetic, more skilled… It means you served your country. That is literally all it means. It doesn’t somehow make your opinions more valid, and it doesn’t excuse your actions.

My father had a term for guys like these. “FWS: Fucker Who Served” Easily recognized by them reminding you that they are superior because they were military. Now, I’ll give them proper respect for their service. I have no doubt that they can operate circles around me. They can probably outshoot me (not a stretch, really.) But you know when that is going to matter? Never. You know what matters now?

Coffee, two sugar, light cream. Chop chop barista boy.

  39. avatar Pete S. says:

“You know it’s bullshit that all of us deployed to protect the very freedoms that allow personal preference and choice”

Yeah, because 10,000-50,000 loosely affiliated Al Qaida jihadists with no air force or navy is definitely an existential threat to the US. Sure, they’ll be able to launch an occasional terrorist attack, but conquer the US come on. Last I checked, didn’t we twice obliterate in about a 2 week “war” one of the larger militaries in the Middle East? Or maybe that .75% of the US population that is Muslim is going to rise up any day now and conquer the other 99.25% of us, oh woe is me. Where does the Muslin conquest of the world rhetoric come from? Nearly every single muslim country is an economic and military basket case, even if they all united they couldn’t conquer a tiny country like Israeil. Oh right, they tried that twice and failed! I swear the Chinese created the Islamic Terrorists to distract us while they quietly go about actually conquering the world.

    Religious right wing extremist check
    Wants to kill Gays Check
Wants to kill members of other Faiths check
Believes in the literal interpretation of some book of ancient mumbo jumbo check
Wants to force everyone to believe in said mumbo jumbo check at gun point if need be
Believes women should serve their man in the home check

Convert and join ISIS you right wing Christian nut jobs, you have a lot in common with them!

I’m sorry the libertarian in me doesn’t give a crap what two or three or ten consenting adults does in the privacy of their own home. Why does anyone care about gay marriage? It doesn’t affect you at all!

    1. avatar Rambeast says:

    2. avatar Yee says:

” I swear the Chinese created the Islamic Terrorists to distract us”

That’s a funny way to say US federal government.

    3. avatar Ralph says:

Why does anyone care about gay marriage? It doesn’t affect you at all!

Agreed. In fact, it benefits me, since gay married couples with no kids will in many cases pay more in Federal income taxes than the same couple when they were unmarried. It’s called the “Marriage Tax,” and it used to affect only straight couples.

      1. avatar Indiana Tom says:

If homosexuals want to pay more taxes by being married; I think that is great.

    4. avatar Yellow Devil says:

It doesn’t effect you at all!

…until when it does. If a private business is forced by the government to perform a service to validate said relationship, either through their photography service or baked goods, than it really ceases to be a privacy issue.

For the record, I think a Business retains the right to refuse service to anyone for any reason, unless the business is a monopoly operating in concert with the government or fulfilling a government contract.

    5. avatar DallyMcNally says:

Who is going to force you at gunpoint to believe in Christianity? That’s possibly the stupidest thing I’ve read on here yet. Furthermore, whose wife stays at home? Man you are getting Christians and Muslims mixed up, I think; and personally, I could give a smelly deuce what you believe, that’s for you to decide. Just do me a favor if the SHTF, stay the hell out of my yard.

  40. avatar Bobing says:

    Just a question:

Will anybody who got clickbaited by two girls making out on the front page of TTAG please shamefully raise their hand in solidarity with me?

    *shamefully raises hand*

    1. avatar Anaxis says:

      *proudly raises one hand*

  41. avatar Jacob says:

I took their response as calling bullshit on your rant as they fought for the rights of others to do as they please (gays, or otherwise). They also fought for their right to freedom of speech about it (not that I saw gay bashing). But is TTAG really the best pedestal for this type of post? “Gun culture”, in my experience, is one where people support personal expression, even if offensive, so long as it’s not threatening. This seems more like a SJW issue…

  42. avatar Mark32812 says:

I got 2 pounds of Black Rifle coffee after I saw that first ad. I am going to order from them again.

    1. avatar srw123 says:

Also, Farago Fail on this one. Big time.

    2. avatar Yee says:

LOL @ buying some crappy coffee just to spite RF and gays. Enjoy your swill.

      1. avatar Mark32812 says:

The coffee is pretty good. I didn’t buy it to spite anyone.

  43. avatar Avid Reader says:

My give-a-shit-o-meter isn’t registering on this one.

  44. avatar Mike says:

So what does this have to do with guns? I didn’t realize that this was TTALGBT.

  45. avatar Dave in VA says:

    BRCC “bashes” gays.

    TTAG bashes cops.

Look at the pot calling the kettle black.

    1. avatar Yee says:

Unlike gays, cops are violent gangsters who dispense violence for politicians.

      Nice try.

  46. avatar Joe Public says:

Jack Donovan, author of The Way of Men, is openly gay and would probably support these guys. He is highly critical of both feminism and gay culture, and frequently bashes effeminate men, whether gay or straight. He has made a name for himself as a writer on masculinity in the right-wing blogosphere.

I highly recommend his essay Violence is Golden.

    1. avatar Former Water Walker says:

      So he’s a BEAR? Whoop de do…

  47. avatar Col. Angus says:

I never heard of this outfit until now. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. I’ll be buying their products.

  48. avatar Former Water Walker says:

So RF-it seems a bunch of 1st time commenters have threatened to “leave”. Were they EVER here?

  49. avatar Cheeks says:

Since when did TTAG turn into a bunch of fucking SJW’s? Who gives a flying mother-fuck if someone is bashing gays, or effeminate hipster who go home and tuck their shit and sphincter finger themselves?

Guess what Motherfuckers, It’s their right as an American.

Is it right, from a moral standpoint? No.

Is it funny? Fuck yeah it is.

Quit whining about a hilarious coffee commercial that nobody asked you to watch, and get back to writing your AWESOME gun and gear reviews.

    Super-totes Awesome-balls.

    Totes Serious.

    Like really.

    Fucking whiners.

    1. avatar Anaxis says:

      Fuckin’ A.

    2. avatar ShaunL. says:

      Eloquently put.

      I think I agree.

    3. avatar GutshotYooper says:

      Fuckin A x 200

  50. avatar James Stewart says:

Just because someone is deployed into the armed services doesn’t mean they can do no wrong nor does it mean that others have to agree with them. There are many great people that joined the armed forces but there are also many assholes as well.

Just yelling “Nope, veteran!” and showing two women kissing doesn’t change the fact that content was produced that either intentionally or unintentionally made it seem as if an entire group of people was being marginalized and berated.

Freedom of speech goes both ways so we have the right to say, “I don’t like what you said therefore you won’t get any of my money.”.

  51. avatar Silver says:

Wow, really? We’re dealing serious, imminent degradations to our natural freedoms and the last bastions of protection against a tyrannical government and treasonous populace, and TTAG goes on a SJW crusade against someone’s random advertisement? Give me a break. We’re the adults here, let’s act like it and leave the meaningless distractions to the idiot masses.

And that comes from a libertarian who supports gay rights, when they actually want equality and not specially privileged power over others.

  52. avatar JWM says:

Damn. Glad I don’t drink coffee.
