Ohio bus driver Rickey Wagoner

TTAG reader Vhyrus provided the mothership with the above update on our story of the Dayton, OH bus driver saved from gangland execution by the Good Book. Or not. Yup, not. “Investigators now believe the Dayton driver staged the attack by stabbing himself, shooting himself in the arm, and firing two bullets into his New Testament,” usatoday.com reports. “After the incident, he told police he had been attacked by three black teenagers with their faces covered who used slang (shooting a “polar bear”) for a black-on-white attack. Investigators found . . .

that Wagoner’s knife wounds appeared to be self-inflicted “hesitation” wounds instead of defensive ones, his DNA was the only DNA found at the scene, and ballistic tests revealed that bullets would have easily passed through his religious text if it had been in his chest pocket, as he claimed, but not if it had been placed on asphalt . . .

Police say that on a 911 call, Wagoner, who weighs 320 pounds, did not sound winded even though he claimed to have fought off his attackers and run 200 to 300 feet.

The driver hasn’t been charged with a crime, but he will probably lose his job: The director of the transit authority says customers and employees are “appalled and angry” at “the thought that an employee would allegedly mislead the police, the public, and us and use ugly racial stereotypes in doing so.”

Not to mention evoking the name of God in his defense and desecrating the Bible. Anyway, we still say praise the Lord and pass the ammunition.

  1. Isn’t filing a false police report a crime?
It should be. And he should have to reimburse the tax payers for the money they wasted on the investigation.

    • If only the taxpayers would be reimbursed. Good luck ever trying to get a hold of any of that money though. It will stay in the governments hands, they’re the ones who will be reimbursed.

Oh and before someone says it might cause them to raise taxes to make up for it… well, they’d find a reason to raise taxes anyway.

  2. “There’s no reason why on the street today a citizen should be carrying loaded weapons” -Ronald Reagan

    • Dear malicious liar,

Let me quote you a more complete account of what Reagan said regarding the Black Panthers’ armed protest of the CA statehouse:
      —————————-
Reagan said, “American’s don’t go around carrying guns with the idea they’re using them to influence other Americans. There’s no reason why on the street today a citizen should be carrying loaded weapons.

He agreed, however, with the group’s contention they had the right to bear arms.

Source, The Milwaukee Journal, May 02, 1967:

Note his use of the word ‘citizen’, meaning a person in the act of taking part in government and society, i.e. Reagan is saying threatening behavior has no place in politics. It’s not a knock against self defense.

And even after all that, Reagan affirms that a black man has the right to carry his guns!

Oh and here’s a little dessert to go with that…From the same article, listen to why armed black panthers were protesting to begin with:
      —————–
Spokesman for the group, Bobby Seale, read a statement to reporters. It protested the [gun-control bill…]and referred to the racist California legislature…now considering legislation aimed at keeping the black people disarmed and powerless
      —————

So yeah, that gun control you’re pushing, it’s part of a racist agenda that even left-wing boogie man Reagan agreed shouldn’t be allowed.

        • Riiiiight. The GOP today is so far right that their presidential nominees have been Romney, McCain, Bush II (the Compassionate), Dole, and Bush I.

Reagan was the last conservative nominee we had.

        • That’s because the Republican base is so far to the right today as to produce unelectable candidates. Were Attila the Hun to be alive today he would think that Ted Cruz was bananas.

        • That makes about as much sense as banning guns. Are you sure you’re on the right site?

        • You sure that you don’t have your head in a cloud? Because, in case you haven’t been paying attention, nationally there is plenty of thought that 1) T-Baggers are crazy and 2) guns have no place in a modern, urban America.

That may not play well in the town of Inbred, Alabama but it is what it is.

  3. So what was his game here? Just lonely and wanted some attention? Was he planning on going into business selling bulletproof Bibles?

  4. Good thing it wasn’t a Koran,
Shooting the Koran makes you a criminal by itself in many countries, even this one sometimes.
Also I understand that bullets can only ricochet off the Koran, so bullet fragments are a danger.

  5. Well to my memory these seem very rare (non-existent?) from the right side of the isle.

Usually it’s lesbians, gays, or Al Sharpton.

    Leftist tactics are pernicious.

  6. To DaveL,
Because he’s a racist liar. Because of the historic context of white liars framing black psople. I hope all ofyou who believed this racist liar will now call for him ,to be prosecuted without leniency.

  7. It is interesting to see how fast comments get hijacked into someone’s personal hate agenda, I.e. anti Bible, anti-Reagan.

  8. When writing in English, both Quran and Koran are equally correct. Just alternate ways of alliterating from one alphabet/language into another.

    • Derp, sorry. I meant “transliterating,” not “alliterating.” That’s what I get for posting in a hurry, at oh-dark thirty.

  9. I’m not sure how the polar bear thing promotes an “ugly racial stereotype.” Black Americans are not typically stereotyped as being prone to “polar bear hunting,” are they?
