  12. avatar AaronW says:

No it is Eddie the Eagle’s early attempt to make kids feel safe around guns with the lollipop revolver.

  23. avatar Zebulon Pike says:

In this rare historical photograph we see many examples of the adolescent phase of today’s OFWGs, before they have developed the O and F characteristics. Language experts believe the phrase “get your booger hook off the bang switch” may have originated during the time and place depicted in this crude photograph.

  25. avatar the ruester says:

I like how all those other kids are just standing around all pimp style, listening to a political speech. I wonder if they went home that night and discussed the JFK/NIXON election while that crazy kid cleaned the cylinder with his tongue.

  35. avatar Collin Iams says:

“By calling attention to ‘a well regulated militia’, the ‘security’ of the nation, and the right of each citizen ‘to keep and bear arms’, our founding fathers recognized the essentially civilian nature of our economy. Although it is extremely unlikely that the fears of governmental tyranny which gave rise to the Second Amendment will ever be a major danger to our nation, the Amendment still remains an important declaration of our basic civilian-military relationships, in which every citizen must be ready to participate in the defense of his country. For that reason, I believe the Second Amendment will always be important.”

Maybe it sort of went something like that. Because he did say that in 1960.

  36. avatar jay1987 says:

  50. avatar Dyspeptic Gunsmith says:

    A few factual tidbits:

    – This was apparently at a campaign stop in Logan, West Virginia during JFK’s presidential campaign
    – Date was April 25th, 1960
    – The opposition candidate on the primary ballot was Hubert Humphrey
    – The day before the election, a key Humphrey supporter switched sides.
    – It later came to light that said supporter received $35,000 to switch sides and make it public.

You can tell from the skeptical facial expressions that folks weren’t expecting much from JFK. 60 years later, their expectations are pretty well met.

  51. avatar Mercutio says:

  53. avatar bontai Joe says:

My mom had that exact same step stool/chair in her kitchen. That thing was extremely well made as I’ve stood on it and I weigh 300 lb. I wonder if they are still made somewhere and not from plastic?

  54. avatar Ken Hagler says:

Despite his presidency’s comparisons to Camelot, there was a time (now sadly forgotten) when the man in the White House was a President and not a God-Emperor.
