Quote of the Day: Roosting Chickens Edition

 Charles Grassley

“In Operation Fast and Furious, the Mexican drug cartels found an easy way to supplement their own illegal ways. Worse yet, the Obama administration has yet to publicly hold anyone accountable for this disastrous policy. Unfortunately, guns from Fast and Furious will be found in operations like this for years to come.” – Senator Charles Grassley, Fast and Furious guns turn up at Mexican resort shootout [at cnn.com]

  1. avatar jp says:

Seeing as how Obama and holder were responsible, no one will be held accountable except the lsg’s that were told to sell the guns by them in the first place.

  2. avatar Shire-man says:

ATF really is a store name. You just have to be special enough to get a membership. For that matter the FDA/DEA is also a storefront for select clientele.

    1. avatar ThomasR says:

      BATFE-Bad Attitude Towards Firearms /Freedom = Evil
BATFE- Black Attired Terrible Fiends= Evil

  3. avatar Jonathan -- Houston says:

Whether it’s Fast & Furious, or Libya, or the IRS, NSA, etc., or whatever other manifestations of this administration’s gross incompetence, there always plays this same refrain: nobody’s punished or at all held to account, GOP calls for such drone on without action, the administration stalls long enough that the scandal eventually becomes old news and those still harping on it get badgered into “moving on.” Well.

I don’t want to beat dead horses any more than the next guy, but failing to follow through and hold people responsible for gross ineptitude serves only to insulate and incentivize future bad actors to commit future acts of reckless policy. Move on? To what? The next epic fail?

    1. avatar Michael B. says:

“Phony” scandals are supposed to go down the memory hole, John.

    2. avatar Gov. William J. Le Petomane says:

2017 seems a long way away, but it’s coming. Once Holder’s out of office things might look a lot different.

      1. avatar DDay says:

There are some as bad but no one is worse than Eric Holder. He’s a racist, unbelievably corrupt and incompetent. He should have been in jail years ago. I hope he suffers when he dies. He deserves a hell of a lot of pain for what he’s done to negatively affect peoples lives. He has many peoples blood on his hands.

    3. avatar Stinkeye says:

“…failing to follow through and hold people responsible for gross ineptitude serves only to insulate and incentivize future bad actors to commit future acts of reckless policy.”

We have a shorthand word for this entire concept: “government”.

When was the last time *any* government official was truly held responsible for their gross incompetence (not just wrist-slapped as a puppet show for the TV cameras)?

    4. avatar ThomasR says:

I’d agree John ; most of government is inherently wasteful and incompetent; they reward waste; “bigger budget next year, yippee” versus thrift and efficiency, ” Oh no! Smaller budget next year”.

But I believe the BATFE is particularly and grossly incompetent and especially corrupt because they don,t actually arrest real criminals; the true predators; they regulate those human behaviors that should be left to personal choice; alcohol, tobacco, firearms in particular; the first two are personal choice; the third is supposed to be a right that shall not be infringed.

It’s a lot easier to take a bribe from a “criminal” providing a wanted service like alcohol or cheaper cigarrette’s because of high taxes than from a rapist or strong arm robber.

I’m betting all agencies that focus on “vice” ie., victimless crimes; DEA, vice squads in most PD’s, BATFE ect; have a much higher percentage wise of corruption than is the norm in law enforcement agencies in general.

    5. avatar William Burke says:

“Whether it’s Fast & Furious, or Libya, or the IRS, NSA, etc., or whatever other manifestations of this administration’s gross incompetence,”

You need to understand that, aside from Fast and Furious, all those other things are MUCH bigger than mere presidential administrations, and do not answer to them. Well, maybe the IRS, now that I think further on it….

  4. avatar T says:

    Sad,but very true.

  5. avatar NYC2AZ says:

Not only has nobody been held accountable, but they got their little “2 gun purchases in a month = reporting you to the ATF” rule upheld. I can only wonder what laws they had planned if this operation didn’t go public.

  6. avatar FYI says:

    Project Gunwalker Scandal Resources
    David Codrea’s Journalist Guides:
“The following is a summary and time line of articles appearing on the Sipsey Street Irregulars blog and Gun Rights Examiner, reflecting original reporting on the developing “Project Gunwalker” story by Mike Vanderboegh and myself.”

    1. avatar rlc2 says:

If the Pulitzer Prize wasnt politicized like the Nobel Codrea, Vanderboegh, and Atkinsson would have deserved the win for investigative reporting, IMHO.

    2. avatar William Burke says:

WOW! Thanks a million for this link!

  7. avatar Model66 says:

Since we have “Obama money,” and “Obama phones,” can we please start calling these “Obama guns?”

    1. avatar BT in Afghan says:

Now that is funny, sad and true but funny.

  8. avatar KMc says:

While it may take Chuck a while to get someone to answer for this mess, it WILL happen. I believe he has a bit of a hard on for Holder, so just be patient. This subject was brought up @ one of his last Town Hall meetings and he is still pissed. Stay tuned.

  9. avatar rlc2 says:

For new readers it bears repeating that TTAG was on this early. Pointing out the repeated 90% guns from US dealers lie promulgated by Hillary herself during the Gun walking op at ATF. Just a reminder: the US via State provides US military M16 s to the Mexican Army and independent sources have documented “lost” weapons from them and other Mexican govt entities who all compte for who gets paid the most in narco money. Federales, Judiciales, Mexican Marines…

And dont think for a moment that CIA and State werent read in on this op. Btw it since come out that the principal straw man was an FBI inforkant and protected.

    This is all open source.

Conclusion: The spin is in. Time for Hillary to be burnished for 2016 and CNN has gotten The Talking Points Memo.

  10. avatar Accur81 says:

The government sucks at policing itself. The 1st and 2nd Amendments help the citizens police the government. Isn’t the government supposed to be of the people, by the people, and for the people? The government we have now is *over* the people. That’s why they want to have and control guns and deny them to the rest of us.

  11. avatar rlc2 says:

Because Holder got away with lying to Congress on F&F Rice got away with lying to the American public on Benghazi and Clapper got away lying to Congress on the NSA. And Lerner taking the 5th on IRS Tea Party voter suppression and…

    Well. You get the point.

    1. avatar rlc2 says:

The point being the State Run Media™ stopped doing their job about 2010 or so and continues to double down in desperation.

But theirs this little thing called “the internet” that frightens the he11 out of people like DiFi and Reid and others in the Senate who abdicated their responsibility in oversight. And the solution in a democracy is the vote. Get out and walk your district or give money to the opponents of vulnerable Dems elsewhere. 2014 is just around the corner so start now.

      That is all.

      1. avatar Samuel Suggs says:

        2010 LOL

      2. avatar bg says:

        You misspelled 2001, conservitard.

        1. avatar rlc2 says:

That would be Independentard, to you BG…;)

    2. avatar rlc2 says:

      …besides: “What does it matter?”
