OMG! College Kids Hate Guns! OMG!

College kids who hate guns, gun owners and the NRA? Who’d a thunk it? Not to worry. Give them a decade or two and something worth protecting and they’ll be shopping for tactical scatterguns down at the LGS. And if not them . . . reckons some eleven million young people have played Call of Duty on-line. Whew!

  1. avatar racer88 says:

My youngest brother (18 years younger) was a staunch liberal in high school… college… and even part of medical school. He’s about to finish his neurosurgery residency and then start a 1-year spinal fellowship. He will have 16 (sixteen!) years of school / training after high school.

    He’s not a liberal anymore.

    1. avatar Roland says:

Looks like all that education payed off….lol

    2. avatar WLCE says:

i know many people that underwent political transformations from liberal to conservative or libertarian after they went into a medical profession.

Like the military, I think the medical field is pretty conservative in a lot of areas but i could be wrong.

      1. avatar Mark N. says:

Not according to the (very anti-gun) American Medical Association

        1. avatar JohnO says:

The AMA is a trade union. It represents its rank-and-file members about as well as the rest of them.

  2. avatar rtempleton says:

Robert, do you go looking for things like this to get mad at and attack, like Don Quixote tilting at windmills?

Collegehumor is a NYC-based humor website. It doesn’t even purport to represent the opinions of college students.

    1. avatar William Burke says:

He’s trying to show us what a future for the human race we are up against. I am grateful. Amused. Disturbed, too.

      1. avatar rtempleton says:

No, this is standard conservative over-the-hill whining. Every conservative ever has panicked about how society is falling apart because they are the last good generation.

I find it extremely tiresome. You know there are people who own guns, read this site and aren’t old conservatives, right?

        1. avatar Brian says:

Agreed. CH is a NYC based site and lots of aspiring actors use it to get noticed. It’s not like any of them will risk their careers by having, let alone saying, a heretical thought.

That said, I do wish this site would quit bagging on anyone to the left of Glenn Beck. We are better off with both parties feeling acute pressure to protect our right.

        2. avatar amagi says:

I’m a 25 year old college educated NYC (Brooklyn) Native who went to high school in Suburban New Jersey and went to college in Liberal-Philadelphia.

I live in North Jersey, Hoboken. A bastion of liberal minded group think.

I’m far from a cranky old guy Conservative.

          I’m a Glock Fan Boy.

        3. avatar rtempleton says:

Completely agree. I’m never voting republican myself because I have no desire to see more religion in government, but I will sure not feel bad when the backlash from gun control ends up getting a lot of democrats voted out of office. That will probably make gun control an untenable policy at the party level again, for a while at least.

        4. avatar Accur81 says:

Glad you’ll not vote to support gun rights, and hate Republicans. That’s awesome, and a fantastic way to support 2A rights. Hope you’re not surprised when ammo taxes and 7 round mag limits come your way.

        5. avatar BlindKyle says:

Agreed, I’m also a young (<25) college student that owns multiple guns and reads TTAG everyday. If you alienate the younger generation they'll vote against gun rights. Even if indirectly.

        6. avatar APBTFan says:

Maybe you’re reading a bit too much into the post. The blogs I enjoy are the ones that poke at the boundaries at times, stir things up a bit and generate some great and varied responses, yours included.

        7. avatar rtempleton says:

Accur81, I don’t think a national mag limit, AWB or ammo tax is likely to happen. Virtually every democrat outside of major gun control areas like California or NYC is against these measures.

If against all odds they do come to pass, I will be annoyed, but it’s not exactly freedom-threatening. I’m an engineer, I can afford an ammo tax. Yeah, it’ll suck for poor folks, but then again, the GOP’s policy of regressive taxation, tax breaks for the rich, dashing government benefits, excluding minorities from the polls, attacks on women’s reproductive rights, attacks on LGBT rights and on and on kind of outweigh the inconvenience of having to pay a little more for bullets.

Unless of course you are a selfish, deluded conservative, in which case have fun voting for single issues and having your SS benefits gouged.

        8. avatar Lucas D. says:

You think an AWB, mag cap limit and punitive ammunition taxes aren’t freedom threatening? Good, now I have a brand new reason to find you guys totally insufferable, right next to your prefacing every insipid comment with “I’m an engineer,” as if it even f*cking mattered nine times out of ten.

        9. avatar Pat says:

rtempleton, You completely underestimate the horrors of Big Gov liberalism and fixate on a few social issues that mean little and are certainly the lesser of the evils. When you get older, you shall see.

  3. avatar Dazen Cloud says:

Most of these retards are in their 30s and they they know nothing outside of the retard basin called california. And this is coming form a college student.

    1. avatar jerry says:

Yeah rtempleton is right(he is an engineer) virtually every democrat other than the majority of them in the US senate, Colorado, Connecticut, Maryland, Washington, most likely Rhode Island as well. But u go right on voting democrat and make sure u support no limits on government spending and abortion. You are my hero.

  4. avatar Nate says:

I’m a college student in CA. Me and my College Republican chapter are planning a shoot with a couple professors this summer

    1. avatar Ralph says:

I had a few professors that I would have enjoyed shooting at. Oh, wait. You wrote “with” a couple of professors, not “at.” Never mind.

      1. avatar Bova says:

    2. avatar CA.Ben says:

I’m also a college student in CA. I don’t think my college has a republican chapter (it’s really small), but we’re not all the same.

  5. avatar William Burke says:

Yet more proof that it’s not education that makes us smart. It’s LIFE that makes us smart. SOME OF US.

    1. avatar In Memphis says:

I learned more about people and life working in emergemcy medicine on the streets than I ever did in any classroom.

    2. avatar rtempleton says:

So how exactly do you know the educational background of the professional comedians who made this video?

  6. avatar AnotherMatt says:

Gay, conservative (fiscally at least), gun owner here. I heart my PSA middy AR.

    1. avatar William Burke says:

As well you should. With luck and some diligent work from us, some of these kids will wise up in time. Many of them? Maybe not. We can only do our best. Try to resist ridiculing them too much when you meet one. It’s hard, though…

  7. avatar g says:

    “I’M A COWARD!”

CollegeHumor is one of those internet websites that people visit for internet memes and cat videos. Probably not the best place for a serious discussion of firearms rights.

    1. avatar William Burke says:

CAT videos. The HORROR! The HORROR!!!

  8. avatar AznMike says:

Pfft, a decade? I already have something to protect, my family. First thing I get when I get the money is an AR, I currently a Springfield XDM .40. Once I move out of the dorms and in an apartment, I’m bringing my guns with me.

    1. avatar William Burke says:

Yeah. Don’t leave them behind. I wouldn’t trust one of these newts with a firearm.

      1. avatar AznMike says:

Yeah, just sucks that Wisconsin in general kinda antigun, can’t ccw on campus. Really can’t wait to get out of the dorms, the “security” system they have is kinda of a joke.

        1. avatar g says:

I only dormed my first year in university, and while I enjoyed meeting lots of new folks, I also didn’t like the complete lack of security, sharing bathrooms, and constant noise at all hours… including the bi-monthly “prank” of someone yanking the fire alarm in the AM hours.

Moved into an apartment off campus as soon as I got the chance and didn’t look back. Extra walking time to campus = better exercise. Not to mention anything I cooked > dorm food.

        2. avatar AznMike says:

Yeah, I cook most of my food too. I live in a residential hall, so at least my suite gets our own bathroom and a small kitchen. I seriously can’t wait to get out of here, even with all the security checkpoints, people still manage to get in and cause trouble. Early this semester, some man somehow was able to get past security and the result is a get ODing on iirc heroin.

  9. avatar Taylor Tx says:

Makes me ashamed to be a college student, even if its a graduate student. Education institutions just seem to be a haven for those who want to dismantle the constitution lately. However, trying to paint any group, such as college students, with a wide brush never really works out well.

  10. avatar Mr. Lighter says:

As a college student who owns multiple guns, I resent this.

    1. avatar Accur81 says:

As a former college student who owns a certain amount of firearms, I resent the video as well. But hey, cowardly statist college douchebags don’t determine my mood.

    2. avatar AznMike says:

Ditto, except for the multiple gun part, I only own one.

  11. avatar Sean says:

American public school churning out college material idiots since 1979.

  12. avatar watchmenlewis says:

well if this is as real i guess we just better start reproducing the next generation and parented education and put these idiots on a drying rack

  13. avatar Neil Burke says:

It’s College Humor, relax. Taking that seriously would be like getting your news from the Daily Show or the Colbert Report.

Also, it would be nice if you didn’t lump all college students in together. That’d be like saying all Americans hug their guns constantly. It’s just factually untrue.

    1. avatar Accur81 says:

I think they shoot better with a good hugging every now and then.

      1. avatar Gyufygy says:

        But is it consensual hugging?

        1. avatar Neil Burke says:

That’s the best kind of hugging. The other kind would be assault. Guns don’t take kindly to assault.

      2. avatar Neil Burke says:

But of course they do. Unfortunately, the missus might get jealous if it’s constant. And the police, a might bit twitchy…

  14. avatar jwm says:

Socrates is supposed to have said the human race couldn’t continue with the low quality of the younger generation. Not his exact words, but you get the picture. What was that 3 thousand years ago?

You are supposed to be experimental, outspoken and questioning the established order when you’re college age. Liberal even. Eventually, most grow out of this phase and become more moderate and willing to see both sides of the issue.

And before you know it, this generation of college kids will be shaking their canes and yelling”get off my lawn.” The more things change, the more they stay the same.

    1. avatar Dyspeptic Gunsmith says:

When today’s kids get the bill for the fiscal stupidity of this administration and the Federal Reserve… they’re going to be some kind of PO’ed.

      1. avatar WLCE says:

they probably wont pay for it.

I would certainly love to see that. all the more reason to keep your powder dry.

      2. avatar APBTFan says:

They don’t have to wait for that. They’re currently accruing or are now having to pay the price of an education that may or may not get them a high paying job. Bit of a tangent but we’ve gone way too far convincing kids a college education is a must to make a living.

        /sermon on/

While we certainly need plenty of folks with hard-earned degrees and the commensurate knowledge to keep us running and innovating there is a limited amount of jobs for many of the degrees these kids get. More young people need to look at the trades.

Two years out of high school I and several other guys I knew enrolled in the IBEW Local 640 apprenticeship. Instead of racking up student loans we were getting paid to learn and when we were out in four years we were making a damn good living with great benefits.

We wired the schools people’s kids went to. We wired the Albertson’s they shopped at (someone gave their life for that job). We wired the Shamrock distribution center that processes the products they bought. We wired the Motorola that makes the smartphones they used. We wired the Sumitomo plant that grows the platters that go to make microprocessors (someone got mangled so bad she could never work again). We wired a turd plant that processed all their dumps and we wired and maintained a Honeywell that makes god-knows-what for the government.

General college degrees are a dime a dozen now and none of them can have the unique satisfaction of driving around town looking at all the buildings with all those people having a place to work because of us. Plus with a trade if times get tough there are always piecemeal side jobs to get you by. Lord knows I’ve paid the bills more than once with side jobs.

        /sermon off/

  15. avatar Toasty says:

Implying that a site created, owned and run by young hipster liberals represents all young people…

  16. avatar JSIII says:

The young have yet to see the true horrors of thr world around them, give it time.and see if they reach for the phone are a gun when it all comes crashing down.

  17. avatar G says:

I’m currently in college, would consider myself slightly left of center politically, yet I am adamantly pro-gun. I don’t see how people can claim to be an advocate for civil rights and freedoms, while ignoring probably the most important one.

The problem I’ve seen with people is they’ll take facts from one side of an argument, and ignore the ones of the other. Being ‘informed’ for them is occasionally watching the news thinking they know all the answers. I don’t like making opinions on things without the whole story. I compared anti-gun and pro-gun facts and decided accordingly. Anti-gun facts just don’t stack up.

Luckily though, I have met many pragmatic individuals at college who recognize that all this gun control stuff is a waste of time, and the real origin of common crime is socio-economic issues. Not all hope is lost guys…

  18. avatar Chip says:

Not the best sarcastic humor I have seen. Mildly funny, arched eyebrow with a smirk kind of humor.

On the off-hand chance that is for real… I weep for the future of our species.

    1. avatar Jon says:

      I weep for the present.

  19. avatar UcsbKevin says:

I’m a college student in CA and I’m a proud gun owner. 🙂

  20. avatar APBTFan says:

I personally find it hard to judge young folks too harshly till they’ve been in the real world for a time after schooling. The school environment tends to be fairly insular and it isn’t until someone’s had to beat feet on their own to make their way outside of school that I’ll ask them “So, whadda ya think now?”.

  21. avatar Silver says:

You can’t blame people that age for being stupid and ignorant. They have no real life experience and believe the brainwashing they’re fed.

It’s when they become adults and still have that mindset that you can blame them for being stupid.

    1. avatar APBTFan says:

Ignorant of the world, yes. Stupid, not necessarily.

  22. avatar Jeh says:

I cant tell if their serious or not considering its a comedy site.
Hell, im a college student and a proud gun owner.

  23. avatar mike2588 says:

Thanks for that guys, but I won’t be taking any tips on individual rights or personal defense from a bunch of pencil necked weenies.

  24. avatar Melquiades says:

I’ll admit, some of the stuff CH post is kinda funny, but nowhere near funny enough to tolerate their liberal bullshit.

  25. avatar Yngvar says:

“Have every word been ruined?” Classic!

  26. avatar Labman says:

Let’s see. Between 16 and 30 years old. PC college kids playing violent video games and spewing liberal hate speech. Sounds to me like we have a bunch of potential mass murderers. Fits the profile.

  27. avatar إبليس says:

I was a liberal in college until I found the library.

  28. avatar Chris says:

There’s a small but substantial minority of college gun enthusiasts.

In my experience, we tend to be either business or science/engineering majors. It’s the humanities/liberal arts types that usually go for the anti-gun idiocy.

Collegehumor stopped being a college student site when its creators left College themselves, and it was never a particularly good one to start with.

  29. avatar Andrew says:

Who is going to listen to a bunch a dorky ass hispsters about this subject anyway?
