The Truth About Guns doesn’t pull its punches. It’s not in our DNA. We do, however, see stories in context, correct our mistakes and leave the “holier than thou” stuff to the Pontiff. And pompous pontificators. To wit: James Yeager. The Volunteer State gun guru can dish it out but he can’t take it. Reacting to his detractors, this video splits hairs like a Mel Pardue Benchmade knife. Arms bearing is a right—but the Tennessee permit is a privilege. Yeager’s not anti-militia. He’s “anti-retards wearing camos.” And for good measure, the bald-headed bubula thinks his infamous “I’m gonna start shooting” video was “educational.” Thought-provoking. Valuable. So . . . why isn’t it on his site anymore? Don’t get me wrong: he’s right. Yeager and TTAG and probably you are on the same team. How great is that?

  1. Like I said before…the reasons why I do not like Yeager extend far far far beyond any alleged acts involving that firefight in Iraq.

I am curious though, if I were to meet Yeager as a friend in private…is this just how he is? Or is it an act like many Radio/Internet personalities?

Is Yeager always…well Yeager or is he more like Larry the Cable Guy a totally different person out of the lime lite?

  2. The problem with Yeager is that his internal voice is actually his attorney telling him to STFU, then face-palming every time he sees a new Yeager vid gets posted.

  3. As with piers morgan, from this point on I will not read or comment on any more posts about yeager.

    • I would pay to see a James Yeager vs Peirce Morgan discussion on gun control…like watching a semi truck filled with rocket fuel crashing into a semi truck filled with C-4 and puppies.

  4. No, we are not on the same team. Yeager is an idiot. What is more, he is a disgrace to all responsible gun owners and users. Here is why I think that.

    • Many have preached to my Progressive-hating self that we need all types in the 2A team. Yeager is no exception. We need trigger-happy-possible-lunatics on our side. Somebody has to fire the first shot against the gun-grabbers one possible day in the future.

  5. I know, for a fact, that Yeager recommends carrying a firearm regardless of legality. In other words, a state-granted permission slip is irrelevant to the free exercise of your inherent rights. Get a CCW, or don’t… it matters not to what your rights are.

    Nothing wrong with that.

  6. The Yeagermeister can brighten up a room just by leaving it. He’s a horse’s @ss. Yes, he’s our horse’s @ss, and I won’t throw him under the bus, but still. Besides, nobody with bad tats and a worse beard should be raggin’ on guys wearin’ camo.

    • HMMMW James Yeager?

I have met him only once. Did not think him crazy or stupid. He does have strong opinions. He talked a lot at my club, and what he came across to me as, was a salesman.
You know the old joke: If his lips are moving!
He was kind of like a Chevy guy telling you Ford sucked.

I played team sports for 16 years. I know that it takes all types/kinds.
I liked and disliked many other players.

As long as any of the other players goals were to win and do good, I could play with them.

Like I said. My take is a salesman making money. Nothing wrong with that.

Would I want to hang out with him? Hmmmmw?
      Let me think on it.
Does he miss free throws at critical times?
      Yes!

  7. I only take the information I need from Yeager. Other than that, what he says and does is not my concern.

  8. Let’s be clear here about something: James Yeager is a friend of mine, period.

He’s controversial, but I don’t know anyone worth a damn who isn’t. There will always be an army of detractors who imagine themselves perfect, and maintain that thin veneer of a self-image only through self-deception and lack of scrutiny from others. So be it.

    • Being a moron in public is not the same thing as being controversial. There is no upside to James Yeager that is can see. I would never take a class from him and I am certainly NOT on his team.

      • The up side to James Yeager is that he appears willing to fire the first shot one day, should the need arise. I’ll take that guy over a whole lot of other readers around here. I’ll be happy to have a beer with most of you guys, but I don’t think most of you can do what James appears willing to do.

        • Fire the first shot or be the first one to dive into a ditch? Talk is cheap.

        • I don’t disagree with that sentiment. That’s why I used the word “appears”. I also wasn’t there. Not everyone has the balls to even be over there in that capacity in the first place.

        • That he bailed is forgivable. That he presents himself to be some kind of a spec ops badass because he was a contractor in Iraq isn’t since that was his one and only firefight and he was later fired. All he’s done is the same training that any of us could do given the money and the time. Whoopidee do, he can take classes and remember stuff……

  9. If we’re being frank, the stuff he says in public is some of the exact same stuff at least some of you have thought in your head.

If anything, you are more discretionary about what you admit out loud.

I’m not judging you for it, but I will commend you about knowing when to keep your mouth shut. It just seems Yeager has an inability to do that.

  10. You have to understand that the change in tone PROBABLY has to do with the fact that even though his carry permit was reinstated by the General Sessions Court the State appealed that ruling to the Circuit Court.

  11. It’s fine to expect Yeager to be brave and take the first shot. Just don’t ask him to drive the getaway car.

“Upon the initiation of contact the lead vehicle driven by James Yeager attempted to drive out of the kill zone and was unsuccessful as Yeager had taken the car out of drive placing it in neutral and setting the emergency hand brake which prevented him from driving out of the kill zone during the opening stages of the contact.”

  12. I dont get what yeager said in this video that rubs some of you raw…

First you remain strangely silent about Remington remaining in New York, and then you take another bash at yeager. douchebags.

and as far as his sentiment towards some militia members: I absolutely agree. Just like the mafia, probably half of the militia leaders are FBI informants anyways.

  13. I don’t really see any controversy with this particular video. Some of you may not be aware, but the self proclaimed “founder” of the militia movement Yeager refers to is rabidly anti-Jewish. “He” has called himself JB Campbell for a number of years and his screeds make the rounds on white nationalist and conspiracy websites such as Rense. “He” even created his own page a couple years ago. “He” claims to have fought in Rhodesia among other things.

I don’t actually believe JB Campbell is a real person, as you may have noticed. I once met a white supremacist who claimed to have met him but I don’t believe it. To say that the writings of JB Campbell make gun owners who would participate in militia activities look bad is a bit of an understatement. See for yourself at jbcampbellextremismonline-dot-com, that is his website.

This is the “militia movement” Yeager is referring to and they are indeed tinfoil hat types. I recall one time reading a JB Campbell article talking about how he was working to deprogram a mind controlled assassin created by the “evil Jews who run our government.” The man, according to JB, lived in Timothy McVeigh’s old mobile home and had found himself on Harry Reid’s property in the middle of the night, with a gun, not knowing how he got there. It is completely shameless nonsense.

    • I actually agree with The Douchey one regarding militias. They mostly are a joke. I think most of the people here are referring to him saying that his pathetic video was educational and valuable.

    • Your claim that JB Campbell isn’t a real person holds as much validity as evil jews don’t run this country..nice try rabbi shillstein.

  14. I don’t know why but he statement that ” we are all on the same team ” brought up some memories of my time in LE . Several times I was actually more concerned about being shot by my “team” mates than the bad guy. If I could have picked my “team” some of those guys wouldn’t have been there, but in life you just don’t always get a choice. If the take down goes bad the whole team will be judged by the actions of the one guy who screwed up. That’s life.

This is how I see the issue with Yeager and his rants, he is on our team whether we would pick him or not, unfortunately the mainstream public will judge us all by his actions and words. It’s a conundrum that I don’t know the answer to.

  15. I think I said this last time TTAG posted one of Yeager’s video’s, if you guys hate him so much, stop watching and posting his video’s! Yeager seems to love the attention, and your just feeding the troll by even giving him the publicity. Which why I think he says the things he says, the way he does… for the publicity.

But I honestly don’t have a passionate opinion about the guy, he actually seems like he’s a good firearms instructor despite his personality faults and controversial statements.

  16. I don’t know the man personally and on the surface I really don’t care for him but as Abe once wisely said “I don’t like that man. I must get to know him better.”

The chances of me getting to know James better are nil so I must stick with the fact that everything I’ve watched from him doesn’t exactly endear him to me.

  17. Yeager is still light years better than many of the morons on this forum who voted for Barry and Biden. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. Yeager aint a libtard (democrat) and he aint trying to steal our liberty (guns).

  18. I find it difficult to take this guy Yeager serious about anything. Most of his videos are just bad mouthing equipment he doesn’t find acceptable. He is all about having the right tool for the job and well in the real world that hardly ever happens. His videos also assume everyone is just like or should be just like him. Someone truly good would be effective with any tools they are given. I find his rant to be disturbing at best. For you who believe the enemy of my enemy is my friend that is sad. The last thing you want in a fight is a hotheaded egomaniac.
