Off to the Land of White Shoes and Early Bird Specials

That’s right, the Sunshine State, where it rains once or twice a day for no particular reason at all. Oh, and Taurus happens to be there, too. They’ve been nice enough to invite me down to check out their operation. They’ve recently assimilated Heritage into their Miami Lakes facility and they’re cranking out six shooters along side Raging Bulls and Rossi snubbies. So I’ll be taking my PH-38 factor there to see what’s what in their push to revamp, recharge and reinvigorate Taurus’s product line, customer service and overall US image. And if there’s still time after all that, I’ll look up Helen and Morty Seinfeld at the Del Boca Vista. Watch this space.

What is supposed to be the difference between rossi and taurus?

  2. Dan- On Sunday the the Hollywood Rifle and Pistol and Club has a “fun pistol” match, open to the public. If you are in town you should check it out, drop me a line for more info.

  3. avatar Aharon says:

The staff at my local guns stores have not changed their opinions about Taurus’s higher potential than most gun makers to break down and not otherwise perform reliably. I just bought my first CC handgun (Ruger LCR) and the Taurus line was never a consideration.

    Don’t forget the Mandelbaums!

  5. avatar Not Too Eloquent says:

Dan: You are in for a rude awakening if you expect to find lots of Seinfelds in Miami Lakes. Watch your six is all I’ve got to say.

I have used Taurus revolvers for many years. I don’t currently own one but the one’s I’ve had in the past served me well. True, they’re not rugers or smiths but if you just want a gun for when something goes bump in the night they’ll serve just fine.

Never had or used a Taurus semi, so I won’t comment.

  7. avatar JPD says:

I currently own Taurus firearms. Two revolvers, They are of good quality and work perfect. However, they are older guns.

And you’re coming down just in time (possibly) for Hurricane Sandy! Have a nice vacation!

    1. I make it a point to hit all the best places and all the best times.

  9. avatar Mark N. says:

While you are there, could you ask them why they’ve pretty much stopped selling semi-autos in California? We are down to five models, and I am told that one of them, the PT745 (and the only .45) is no longer being produced, and therefore no longer available to dealers factory direct. Inquiring minds want to know.

  10. avatar RKflorida says:

Enjoy your visit Dan. That crack about white shoes was totally unwarranted. What else would you wear with shorts? White socks and shoes are the perfect thing to wear with plaid shorts and a white belt. Toss in a loud, floral shirt to let folks know you are hip, and poof! You’ve got a lovely ensemble. Sheesh, you youngsters don’t even know how to dress properly.

  11. avatar Blehtastic says:

Gah, it’s like they’ve combined every crap gun company into one, throw DPMS, kel-tec, hi-point, century international and masterpiece arms in there and you’d have everything making the gun industry look bad all in one place.
