Top Shot champ and Crimson Trace Marketing Maven Ian Harrison has unleashed his company’s skunk works team on TTAG’s Tactical Lever Rifle Project gun. Their design drawing now heads to the machining department for realization. Updates to follow (‘natch). Ian’s stoked:

Hey look! Prior art! After stripping the Marlin of its dignity we set about designing a new forend cap that would accept a yet-to-be-announced laser sight. The CAD model will be sent out to be wire EDM’d, then finished on a 4 axis CNC, then anodized. Should be cooler than penguin bollocks. Sent from my mobile, please excuse brevity.

  1. Robert, at least two years ago, a gun store I frequented had a Ruger 10/22 with a Crimson Trace laser in the forend stock. It had a button situated right about where the shooter’s left hand thumb would rest to activate the laser. If I’m not mistaken, it came from the factory that way.

  2. Call me a grumpy old Luddite (mea culpa), but I don’t like lasers. And a laser on a lever gun just seems off. What’s next — a red dot sight on a muzzle-loader? Feh.

    • That’s next on the Skunkworks list. I have an early 50’s model 94 and this little project has inspired me to actually do something for one of my own firearms.
